Automatic chain tension adjustment device for chain derailment gear change mechanism. In gear change mechanisms by chain derailment, comprising one or more lever arms intended for. tightening the free end of the chain, it appeared necessary to obtain an adjustment of the tension exerted on the chain according to the lateral displacement of the player. It is a positive saying designed for this purpose that is the subject. of the invention.
In the appended drawing showing by way of example an embodiment of the object of the invention La fi ;. 1 shows an overall elevational view of a chain derailment gear change mechanism, 1a. chain being meshed with a large diameter sprocket.
ha fig. 2 shows a side view corresponding to, FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 shows an overview in elevation of a chain derailment gear change with the chain engaged with a small diameter sprocket.
Fig. 4 shows schematically the positive dis and the mode of attachment by slider of the end .du flexible cable on the movable end of the spring.
Fig. 5 shows in a partial schematic view a detail of an alternative embodiment.
The tensioning arm 1 of the gear change in question (fig. 1, 2 and. 3) is connected to the movable side? of the tension spring 3 via a flexible cable 4. This cable winds 511r a pulley 5, then comes. hook onto the derailleur control cable at 6.
This hookup is. produced by any known means, such as a welded yoke, stud, cable clamp, clamping screw, clips removable by hand, hook or carabiner, etc.
The derailleur control is shown in figs. 1. and 2 by a chain 7 and a cable 8, in order to describe a realization, but it is obvious that everything. another control system such as a rigid rod, oscillating lever, cam, etc., makes it possible to adapt the same cable to it 4. Fig. 3 shows that when you act on the cable 8, to obtain the greatest reduction ratio, the lever 1 tilts backwards, the chain coming: to wind up on the smallest gear of the change. of speed.
At this time, the cable 8 having driven the cable 4, the latter forced the strand? from the res sort to. tilt forward, thus increasing the initial spring tension.
Fig. 4, by showing the members in two different positions, makes it possible to realize that, the displacement B of the cable 8 being known, the angle C can be increased or reduced, depending on the length of the lever arm .l acting on the strand 9 of the spring.
This length A can be determined once and for all at. the construction of the system, or be adjustable at the will of the user, for example by means of a slider 9 with stop screw 10 which makes it possible to increase or reduce the length A.
This adjustment device allows different combinations since it varies the ratio. respective angular displacements of the arms 1 and. ?. If the. length <1 is chosen such that the angular displacements of 1, and? be. equal, the. res out pressure will remain constant at all speeds.
If on the contrary, the displacement. of \? is faster than that of 1 (by shortening the length -l), the spring tension will be stronger when the lever arm 1 is tilted back, i.e. when the chain is engaged with the smallest, pinion.
Alternatively (fig. 5), the length A can. be changed by moving the cable hooking loop 4 in a series of Il notches established on the strand? of the spring 3 by profiling the strand? or by worn rap piece.
The. Fi-. ? shows that the control cable 4 can be fitted at its two ends with instantly detachable loops or hooks, which allows the user to remove the tension adjustment by unhooking the cable 4, then hooking it up. the spring directly to the swing lever. 1, reciprocally this quick hooking allows. to adapt very easily. the system to gear changes in service.
The cable can be put in its sheath, provided with tensioners, screws, intended for adjustment of length, replaced even by a chain, or articulated rod, these members being actuated by the reciprocating control or by the reciprocating - and-comes itself, without these application variants going beyond the scope of the invention.
