Device for automatic adjustment of the warp flow in looms. Many positive beam braking devices are currently known in looms. Among these devices are ordinary brakes with ropes, chains or collars, actuated by levers and counterweights, semi-automatic unwinders and finally regulators automatically controlling the flow of the chain.
The purpose of these latter devices is to automatically unwind, from the beam, the length of warp necessary for the formation of the fabric by the successive insertion of the weft threads. The flow achieved must be of absolute precision, if we want to obtain a regular and irreproachable fabric and this, especially as the way of weaving is finer and more delicate, which is particularly the case for natural silk and especially artificial silk.
Most of the known devices, which use such regulators, have the disadvantage that the flow rate is conditioned more or less directly by the force of the greater or lesser tension of the layer of threads on the thread holder, or on any other member in contact with the layer of wires.
In the device according to the invention, a clutch is interposed between a member of the beam control actuated by the loom so as to perform an oscillating movement of determined amplitude, and the member of this control on which the pre acts. mier, this clutch being put into action, during each driving period, for a time the duration of which is controlled by the position of the yarn carrier over which the layer of yarns passes, so that this duration is reduced when the carrier thread tends to get closer to the fabric, and increased in the reverse case.
It is therefore not, as in the known devices, the tension of the layer of yarns which regulates the flow of the beam, but it is the movements of the yarn carrier which control the activation of a release. , an operation which has no influence on the actual tension of the layer of son, this tension being able to remain inva riably regulated, for example by counterweights.
The device therefore acts by compensation, and the warp does not have to withstand any additional force, apart from that absolutely necessary for weaving the material. An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
This regulator can be mounted directly on the loom, or separately on an independent easel; in fig. 1 and 2 its or ganes are shown schematically in their position corresponding to a normal unwinding of the layer of son; in fig. 3 these members are schematically represented in the position they must take to slow down or stop the unwinding of the web and in FIG. 4 to speed it up.
In the figures, a ratchet wheel 1 is actuated by a pawl 2, pivoting at one of the ends of a reciprocating lever 3; the latter is connected at its other end, by a rod 4, to an oscillating member of the loom, for example to the hunting sword. The discontinuous rotational movement of the ratchet 1 is transmitted by means of a pair of angle wheels 5 and 5 '; the first, 5, of these wheels is wedged on the same axis as the ratchet wheel, while 5 'is fixed on a shaft 6, which carries at its other end a worm 7, controlling a wheel 8. L The axis of this wheel carries at its other end a driver controlling, in any way, the beam 9.
The chain flow is therefore determined by the greater or lesser advance of the ratchet wheel 1.
The son-holder roller 10, a compensating member, is mounted on one of the arms of an angled lever 11; at the end of the other of these arms, a counterweight 12 acts so as to give the layer of threads 13 the desired tension, which will be maintained at this optimum value during the weaving of the layer of threads, and this whatever the diameter of the beam.
The adjustable clutch interposed in the control of the beam is formed by a sector 15, oscillating on the axis of the ratchet wheel and which keeps the pawl 2 raised throughout the part of the angular travel of the latter which is covered by the sector and consequently interrupts the rotation of the beam for the same fraction of the stroke of the pawl.
This sector 15 is connected, by an adjustable length rod 14, to the arm of the square 11 which carries the compensating son holder 10. The pawl 2 can be made wide enough to bear directly on the sector 15, or it can be fitted on the side with a small roller which will be lifted by the sector when it passes over it, or any other equivalent arrangement can be adopted for the automatic raising of the pawl 2.
The greater or lesser engagement of the sector 15, under the pawl 2, is therefore determined by the position taken at each time by the compensating thread holder 10, a position which, in turn, is on the one hand under the 'influence of the layer of threads called by the fabric regulator, and the other under that of the counterweights 12.
By activating the device described, the rod 14 and consequently the position of the sector 15 will be adjusted so that the latter keeps the pawl 2 raised for approximately half of its driving stroke. During this half of the stroke, the pawl will not act on the ratchet wheel 1 and the hose will only be set in rotation during the second half of the driving stroke of the ratchet (case of fig. 1 and 2), the pawl 2 being at the start of its driving stroke in FIG. 1 and at the end of this race in fig. 2.
If, during the running of the loom, the output of the beam 9 becomes greater than the call made by the fabric regulator, immediately the counterweight 12 will return slightly backwards the compensating roller 10 (position of fig. 3), which through the connecting rod 14 will engage the sector 15 more under the pawl 2 and reduce the useful motor stroke thereof and therefore the periodic angular rotation of the beam.
In the opposite case, if the call of the fabric regulator becomes greater than the flow of the beam 9, the compensating roller 10 will tilt slightly forward towards the fabric and cause the pawl 2 to be released by the sector. 15, which will increase the useful driving stroke of the pawl 2 and thereby increase the flow rate of the beam 9.
Any disengagement will be advantageously interposed between the beam 9 and its control by the ratchet wheel 1, so as to allow the unrolling or winding of the beam by hand at any time, if necessary. is felt, for example after unwinding of any defect or for any other reason.
