Abstract

The invention concerns a tension jack with automatic taking up of looseness for a worm belt or chain. It concerns a self-regulating device for the tension of a transmission belt or chain. It is consists of a frame (4) supporting an arm (9) driven in a unidirectional rotating movement by the action of a spring (10) and a unilaterally blocking device (8,11). The arm (9) is equipped with two loose pinions (6) and (7) for applying to the chain (1) a tension force limited in its peak value by an elastic assembly (12). A loose roller (5) integral with the frame (4) redirects the side of the chain (1) on which the tension jack acts, and enables its being non- rigidly or completely freely mounted on the installation. The device is particularly applicable to bi-directional transmissions since it can operate indifferently on the 'slack' side or the 'taut' side of the element to be tightened.

Description

Automatic slack adjuster for chain or belt with reversible movement.
The subject of the present invention is a tensioner, and more specifically relates to a device for self-regulating the tension of a belt or of a transmission chain consisting, on the one hand, of two pinions or pulleys of return rotatably mounted at each of the ends of an arm mounted oscillating around a pivot secured to the frame, and arranged in such a way that one of them cooperates with the lower face of a belt or chain end, while the other cooperates with the upper face of the same bnn and on the other hand, an elastic means arranged so as to urge the oscillating arm in rotation: such a device is known to those skilled in the art.
Ce dispositif élastique doit donc être surdimensionne. afin de fournir au bras oscillant un effort bien supérieur a l'effort de tension dont la chaîne ou la courroie a besoin pour fonctionner dans de bonnes conditionsWhen the member to be energized is an endless chain or belt. the forward and reverse parts facing each other and passing over a pinion or a pulley said member must also be tensioned in the event of overshoot or reverse direction To do this, the swinging arm of the tensioner described above must be requested in rotation by an elastic device conseαuent. which will have to bear, depending on the direction of movement of the load, the inertia of the latter when starting or stopping. This elastic device must therefore be oversized. in order to provide the swingarm with a force far greater than the tension force required by the chain or belt to operate in good conditions
En marche normale l'organe a mettre sous tension se trouve ainsi trop tendu, et présente par conséquent une usure prématurée De plus, la plupart des dispositifs élastiques utilises sur ce type de tendeur exercent une force qui n'est pas linéaire avec le déplacement du bras oscillant donc de l'usure de ta chaîne ou de la courroieIn normal operation, the member to be tensioned is thus too tight, and therefore presents premature wear. In addition, most of the elastic devices used on this type of tensioner exert a force which is not linear with the movement of the swing arm so wear on your chain or belt
The purpose of the present invention is to solve these incorrect tension proDlemes specific to reversible systems, by equipping the swinging arm of the tensioner on the one hand with an πgide unidirectional locking device, said device allowing the immobilization of the tensioner iorsαue the bπn of the organ on which it acts is stretched, on the other hand of an elastic tension device allowing the rotation of the tensioning arm, and therefore the catching of the "slack" when the bnn on which it acts is relaxed .
Dans le tendeur selon l'invention, le dispositif de tension élastique n'est dimensionne que pour soulever le poids du bnn "mou" de l'organe qui doit être mis sous tensionIn the tensioner according to the invention, the elastic tensioning device is dimensioned only to lift the weight of the "soft" bnn of the member which must be tensioned
In the case of an installation exhibiting a lack of rigidity at the center distance between the pinions or pulleys of the motor and the receiver, these can move towards each other and cause an unusual increase in the "softness" of the member to be stretched, which will be completely and irreversibly caught up by the tensioner. To avoid, under these conditions, obtaining an excessively high tension in said steady state in said member to be stretched, and according to an advantageous version of the invention, the oscillating arm or said rigid unilateral locking device is composed of an elastic part calibrated according to the maximum force transmitted in normal operation by the chain or the belt to be tensioned. Minimal wear of the latter will bring the whole system back to its original conditions.
According to an advantageous version of the invention, a third pinion or a third pulley is installed on the frame of the tensioner according to the invention, on the one hand to remedy possible problems of space by modifying the trajectory of the bπn on which it will act and secondly, to simplify the establishment of the tensioner by avoiding an πgide mounting thereof on the frame of the installation. In fact, the tensioner is thus advised to find a position of equilibrium, corresponding to the perfect alignment of the bπns upstream and downstream of the member to be tensioned. The tensioner according to the invention is thus no longer subjected to any torque, and therefore requires only a small holding force, parallel to the member to be stretched, to keep its position, since the pinions or rollers of which it is made are mounted idly.
According to an advantageous version of the invention specially adapted for transmissions by endless chain, a lever-shaped extension is fitted on the frame of the tensioner, in order to receive at its end a third idler gear pinion called holding pinion. With a diameter greater than one of the return sprockets, said retaining sprocket is inserted between the working bnn and the return bπn of the chain to be stretched, as close as possible to this same return sprocket. Thus driven in rotation by the two opposite bnns of the chain, said retaining pinion keeps a fixed position relative to the return pinion, and therefore matéπalise a fixed axis of rotation around which the frame of the tensioner can oscillate. find an equilibrium position, maintained in translation by the axis of said retaining pinion, and kept in rotation by the tension force exerted by the other two sprockets or rollers on the chain to be stretched. The tensioner according to the invention thus becomes a completely autonomous element, held in position by the member on which it exerts a tension, by means of said retaining pinion. Free of any attachment to the installation frame, the tensioner according to the invention no longer requires any modification of the transmission system on which it adapts The description which follows, with reference to the accompanying drawings by way of nonlimiting example, will make it possible to understand clearly how the invention can be put into practice:
