Chain derailment gear change device for cycles and similar vehicles. This invention relates to a chain derailment gear change device for cycles and similar vehicles, which is characterized in that a pulley-pulley is rotatably mounted on a smooth surface of a reciprocating mechanism. - comes, this cup having in its circular bearing a notch through which emerges one end of a coil spring, the other end of which is fixed, said spring acting in circular tension and in transverse return on a winding arm,
a cable being attached to the end of the spring protruding from the bowl-pulley, then guided in a groove at the periphery of said bowl-pulley before joining a cable driving the reciprocating mechanism, both cables then running jointly in a front sheath, to be fixed on a single fastener pulled by a single control cable, a stop being fixed on a bracket for fixing to the frame of the gear change device, so as to limit the 'amplitude (read backward pivoting of a support arm.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a double winding chain derailment gear shifting device, the chain being wound on the large sprocket. Fig. 2 shows a side view corresponding to FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 shows the gear changing device after movement of the chain and its winding on the smallest sprocket.
Fig. 4 shows a side view corresponding to FIG. 3.
Fig. 5 shows, in section and on a larger scale, the articulation of the carrying arm on there bracket for fixing to the frame of the cycle.
Fig. 6 shows, in a section and on a larger scale, the reciprocating mechanism of the speed change at the same time as the articulation of the winding arm, the transverse position corresponding to that of FIG. 2.
Fig. 7 shows a section along the line I-I of FIG. 6.
Fig. 8 shows, by two views, la. spring drive cup-pulley. In double winding chain derailment gear changing devices, of the type shown by way of example in the accompanying drawings, the two pivoting arms each receive in the opposite direction the tension force of a spring mounted on each axis of pivoting.
The spring 1 exerts a tension through the end 11 on the pivoting support arm 2, and FIG. 5 shows the detail of the articulation of the arm 2 on the bracket 3 for fixing to the frame as well as the winding of the spring 1 and the fixing of the other end of the spring on the axis. A coil spring 4 clearly shown by the section in FIG. 6 ensures circular tension on the winding arm 5 at the same time as a transverse return action of the arm 5.
It is obvious that to change speed, when chain 6 passes from the large diameter pinion 7 (fig. 1) to the small diameter pinion 8 (fig. 3), the amplitude of the lift of arms 2 and 5 has the understandable effect of reducing the tension angle of springs 1 and 4 and, consequently, of reducing the tension exerted on the chain, whereas it would be necessary to keep the same tension for a good winding of the chain , without slackening, avoiding tensions of alternating intensities which wear out the organs more quickly.
This drawback has not failed to be studied and solutions have been proposed in a device which uses a bypass of the cable controlling the transverse movement of the reciprocating mechanism. This derivation is returned to a pulley to hook the end of a spring acting on the support arm, that is to say a spring equivalent to the spring 1 of the arm 2 and the end of which is not folded fixed to the pivot axis, but moved according to speed variations.
In another device, various means by cables, rod or rod with various attachment modes are envisaged for moving the end of the spring acting on the support arm, which spring corresponds, as indicated, to the spring 1 of the arm 2 on the support arm. the drawings.
This theoretically satisfactory solution is not, however, mechanically practical. Accidental hang-ups are easy as are maladjustments and deteriorations.
The object of the device of the invention is to obtain constant tension in the chain under good conditions. The end 41 of the spring 4 is engaged in one of the notches formed on the periphery of the cup 9. The latter, which rotates on the axis 19 of the reciprocating mechanism, is secured by welding, pin or any other mode of the winding arm 5. The cup 9 therefore allows, at the option of the user, a manual adjustment of the tension of the spring 4 by moving the end 41 circularly in the notches of the cup.
Furthermore, the spring 4 is supported and centered in a cup-pulley 10 which is freely adjusted on a smooth shoulder of the bearing 11. The cup-pulley 10 is double pressed against the support arm 2 by the expanding force of the spring 4 and the telescopic leaf spring 12 protecting the reciprocating mechanism (fig. 6).
A slot 101 is made in the outer surface of the bowl-pulley 10 (FIG. 8), so as to allow passage of the end 42 of the spring. 4 (fig. 7). On the end 42 is attached by any suitable means the end of a cable 13 which is wound on the bowl-pulley 10 in a groove hollowed out. the suburbs. The cable 13 joins, at the support terminal 14 of the sheath 15, the cable 16 causing the transverse movement of the reciprocating mechanism.
The two cables jointly pass through terminal 14 and engage in the sheath at the exit of which they are fixed on a clip linked to a single cable 17.
An appropriately shaped stop 18 is fixed to the tab 3 so as to limit the rearward pivoting of the support arm 2 (FIG. 3) and to avoid excessive traction on the control cable.
From this description, it follows that when acting on the cable 17 to. In a known manner, in order to move the chain, for example from the pinion of larger diameter 7 to the pinion of smaller diameter 8, traction is simultaneously exerted on the cable 16 which causes the transverse displacement of the reciprocating mechanism , as well as a traction on the cable 13 which drives the bowl-pulley 10 at the same time due to the end 42 of the spring a.
The end 41 being fixed in one of the notches of the cup 9, the tension of the spring 4 is increased to the extent of the circular displacement of the end 42. This increase in the tension of the spring comes to balance and compensate for the decrease tension (it results moreover from the pivoting of the winding arm 5, which drives the bowl!) of the end 41 in the direction of tension.
