Device for limiting the tension of the mainspring of a self-winding timepiece. In timepieces in which the res comes out of the barrel is automatically wound, the latter, when it is fully loaded, continues to be wound up, which causes its overvoltage which can cause the rebate of the balance and alter the march of the instrument.
To avoid this serious drawback, the res sort is generally provided with an elastic coupling system which allows the res sort to slide inside the barrel when the tension exceeds a certain limit.
This system is delicate and cannot be adjusted from outside the barrel. If for one reason or another, friction, seizure or too strong a spring, the watch has a tendency to reshuffle, it is necessary to disassemble the bay spring.
The present invention overcomes the drawbacks indicated above; its object is a device for limiting the tension of the barrel spring of a self-winding timepiece, comprising an oscillating weight carrying an actuating pawl, always in the same direction, a driving toothed wheel, characterized by the fact that this driving toothed wheel drives, at least indirectly, a transmission wheel controlling the winding of the barrel spring, this transmission wheel being carried by a pivoted lever controlled by an adjustable spring, the whole being arranged so that , when the tension of the barrel spring reaches a value determined by that of the spring controlling the pivoted lever, the latter pivots by disengaging the transmission wheel and that,
when the tension of the barrel spring drops below a value determined by that of the spring controlling the pivoted lever, the latter pivots to engage the transmission wheel.
The accompanying drawing shows, schematically and to. by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention.
The single figure is a plan view. The device shown comprises a mass 1 oscillating about an axis 2 carried by a plate 3 of a timepiece; this mass 1 is provided with a pawl 4 intended to move in the direction of arrow 5 a driving wheel 6, the latter being mounted free on the axis 2.
This drive wheel 6 drives a transmission wheel 7 integral with an axle 8 which carries, at one of its ends, a lever 9 mounted freely, at its other end, on a pivot 10 fixed to the plate 3. The axle 8 is provided with a pinion 23 which is in engagement with an intermediate toothed wheel 11 fixed to a sleeve 12 coaxial with the axis 10, and to which is also fixed a pinion 13 in engagement with a toothed wheel 14 keyed on the axis 15 of a barrel 16, this wheel 14 ensuring the reassembly of the spring 1.7.
To the lever 9 is hooked one of the ends of a servo spring 18, the other end of which is fixed, by means of an adjusting screw, not shown, to a stud 19 fixed to the plate 3; the latter carries a. pin 20 forming a stop intended to limit the movement of lever 9 under the action of spring 18.
. The device shown operates as follows: The mass 1, as a result of the movements of the user, oscillates around the axis 2 and moves, in the direction of the arrow 5, the drive wheel 6 which drives rotatably, by the 'Inter medial of the wheel 7, of the pinion 9, of the wheel 11, of the pinion 13 and of the wheel 14, the axis 15 of the barrel which then arms the spring 17, when the tension of the latter reaches a value which is determined by that of the opposing spring 18,
the pinion 10 moves around the intermediate wheel 11, driving the lever 9 in the direction of the arrow 21, until the wheel 7 is no longer in engagement with the wheel 6, which cancels out the action of the oscillating weight 1; when the tension of the spring 17 has decreased sufficiently as a result of the rotation of the barrel 16, the counter spring 18 moves the lever 9 in the opposite direction of the arrow 21, until it is in contact with the pin 20, the wheel 7 being again in engagement with the driving wheel 6 which can then reset the spring 17.
It is provided in variant embodiments to insert one or more toothed wheels between the driving wheel 6 and the wheel 7. It is also provided either to actuate the wheel 14 directly by the intermediate wheel 11, or to tercale one or more toothed wheels between pinion 13 and wheel 14.
