Camera for the simultaneous recording of a plurality of negative images of a subject. In the patent. fran (, ais NO 833891 it is described and represented a relief camera, in which a plurality of negative images of the photographed subject are recorded so multisunly, each of these images corresponding at Lin different point of view.
This apparatus comprises three horizontal rows of objectives, the optical axes of which intersect along a line where prisms are placed. The latter distribute the light rays coming from the subject between the objectives of the three rows. One photographic plate corresponds to each row of lenses. So there are three plates to impress, for each shot.
The camera in question is set for shots taken always at the same distance. The partitions separating the photographic chambers which correspond respectively to each of the objectives are, therefore, oriented to converge on the point photographed.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for the simultaneous recording of several negative images of a subject having, on the apparatus mentioned above, the essential advantage of being able to operate at Variable shooting distances, ranging for example from 1 nor 50 to, infinity.
Compared to the apparatus described in the aforementioned patent, it presents in particular, on the other hand, the following two improvements: 10 This apparatus comprises only two rows of goals, instead of three. Independently of the simplification, of the weight saving and of the so-called cost reduction that can thus be achieved, it becomes possible, therefore, to give to all the light rays of the symmetrical paths inside the interior of the device, with respect to to the axis of the latter and to obtain, consequently, two rows of negative images presenting exact the same photogra phic characteristics.
20 The two series of born-ative images are superimposed on a single photograph, perpendicular to the sighting plane of the apparatus. This eliminates the inconvenience of the delicate handling and locating of the three separate eleches obtained in the previous apparatus. No deviation is more to to be feared, in the development of the different negative images corresponding to the same shot.
The apparatus forming the subject of the invention is characterized by two rows of optical members placed at following the objectives, in the path of the rays, these members reflecting the rays in a sensitive direction. parallel to the sighting plane of the device, quickly impressing all the images on a single photosensitive surface whose plane is perpendicular to the sighting plane, and which is movable parallel to itself , to allow focusing at varying distances.
The detailed description which follows relates to an exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention.

The device also comprises (see fig. 10), a rear part B forming a chassis carrier, movable relative to the body A, in the front-rear direction from the device. Lires 3 provide a watertight seal to the light, between the two parts A and B which slide the i-uie on the 'other. A the front of the device is mounted, in an easily removable manner, the casing 4 of a shutter 5 of the type to </ B > c.vlindre common to, all the objectives.
This shutter is essentially composed of two coaxial semi-cylindrical shutters, pivoting around end journals, and rotated by ribbon keys which are wound on rods parallel to their axis. . These rods are themselves controlled in rotation by a lateral mechanism. The relative offset and rotation of these half panels determine the exposure f ent of the shot. The semi-cylindrical or gutter shape of the two shutters ensures to this shutter -a great rigidity, and a constant width of the exposure slit over its entire length.
The apparatus comprises two horizontal rows of objectives 6, 7, situated in the same vertical plane and whose optical axes are perpendicular to the X-Y plane. The lenses in one row are offset from to those in the other row, as shown in fig. 2, an amount equal to the half-center distance of said objectives.
Each objective is placed between two mirrors inclined to 450, one upper, the other lower, in such a way to to give the rays which come to impress the cliché a direction substantially parallel to that of their entry into the device. These mirrors are arranged in three horizontal rows, namely a double central row, and two outer rows. These three rows are in the same vertical plane as the objectives.
The mirrors 8 and 9 of the central row, corresponding respectively to the objectives 6 and 7, are carried by a rule 10, fixed to the two halves 1 and 2 rigidly assembled together.
The mirrors Il and 12, of the two outer rows are respectively mounted elastically on two plates 10, 14, by means of a spring with coil 56 engaged on a mounting pin perpendicular to the plane of this mirror. Each plate 13 ,. 14 is fixed in a removable manner to one of the two halves 1 and 2 of the body of the device. The mirrors 11 and 12 are individually adjustable, thanks to a device that we will describe below.
As in fig. 2 allows you to see it, the mirrors 8 and 9 are trapezoidal in shape, in the example shown, so to use as much as possible the scope of objectives.
The path of the spokes in each of the two halves of the apparatus is indicated in phantom lines in the upper part of fig. 1. We see that the light beams are of interest only to the two zones D, D only, in the vertical plane < I> S, S which represents that of the sensitive surface.
The partitions designated by 15, 16 in the leig. 3 and 4 delimit two horizontal rows of photographic chambers, each corresponding to one of the objectives.
The two panels 15 and 16, constituting each of these partitions, are able to (slide it one on the other, by means of the guides 17, 18 carried by the panel 16. The panel 15 of each partition is articulated on the body À of the device, by two vertical journals 19 and 20.
Each panel 16 also carries two vertical tenons 21, 22, secured in the guide slots 23, 24 of two horizontal plates 25, 26, suitably secured in the body A. In each panel 16 are provided two rectangular openings 27, 28; two cross members < B> 29, 30 horizontals pass through these openings. A each of their ends, the sleepers 29, 30 are connected to a vertical bar 31, of which are integral with two guide tubes 32, 33. Return springs 34 push the tubes 32, 33 to the left, in fig. 3, thus causing the bars 31 and the panels 16 in the same direction.
At both ends of the bars 31 Are, on the other hand, formed two nuts 35, in each of which is engaged a screw 36; to the end of each screw is fixed a pinion 37. A chain not shown winds on the four pinions 37, making the turn of the device, and ensure their joint rotation. One of the four screws 36 still carries an angle pinion 38, which meshes with another angle pinion 39, it -same commanded from the outside by means of crank 40 (see fig. 4).
The rear part B of the device, forming a frame carrier, is rigidly fixed to the ends of the tubes 32, 33, by the bolts 41, and is, therefore, integral with these tubes, in their lon-1- tudinal sliding movement.
In one of the angles of the camera is provided a device for recording the distance at which the picture was taken.
This device, shown in FIG. 5, is partly housed in one of the tubes 33. It is essentially constituted by a veiling lamp 42, partially masked by a screen 43, and which can be automatically lit, when the shutter of the device is actuated, by means of a con electric tact, not shown. This lamp illuminates a disc 44 which carries to its periphery the numbers corresponding to the different shooting distances to to consider. This disc is carried by a sleeve 45, comprising a stop with balls 46, and which forms a nut 47. In this nut is screwed -a threaded rod 48, rigidly secured to the body A of the device.
The lamp 42 is housed, at the same time as the screen 43, in a tube 49 which still contains a photographic objective 50. The tube 49 is extended, towards the rear, to the immediate vicinity. of the sensitive surface. The disc 44 penetrates a slow 51 of the tube 49, by its part which carries the graduations. The mode of action of this device will be explained later.
The plate-holder frame, shown in phantom in fig. 3, and designated by C, is of the twin type, that is to say that it is constituted, in a known manner, by two coupled with curtain frames dos à dos. It can therefore receive two plates.
As shown in ïig, 3, the devices 52 for locking the chassis C in part B, devices cooperating with the bolt 5ô, and which can be of any embodiment, are provided to both at the top and at the bottom of the chassis.
This can therefore be turned upside down, after the first shot, then be locked again in part B, so to use, for the next shot, the parts of the sensitive surface remained blank during the first recording, parts designated by E in fig. 1. Under these conditions, the two rows of negative images corresponding to to the second shot will be oriented head-to-tail, compared to to </ B> those of the first shot. The same shot can therefore be used for two successive shots, by simply turning upside down the plate holder frame C.
After the second shot, the C frame can be turned upside down, to allow the next two shots, recorded on the second plate it contains.
The operations of loading and un- the device are therefore very simplified.
The camera described must be used for the projection of the multiple negative images which it has enabled to be recorded, with a view to printing the positive prints. However, the double with curtain-holder frame just mentioned obviously does not allow the projection of the pictures since its curtains always hide one of its faces, and that it includes a solid partition between the two plates it contains.
The apparatus is therefore still provided with a draw frame without curtain, capable of taking the place of the double frame C, in part B. This draw frame, not shown, is in fact made up of by a simple frame. It comprises the same locking means 52 as the frame C, and any arrangements for fixing and adjusting the cliché, which must naturally occupy exactly the same space in the camera as when shooting.
In order to project the images, it is also necessary to remove the cylindrical shutter 5. This is why the latter is provided easily removable as a whole, for example thanks to a known device for bayonet sliding .
It has already mentioned that the mirrors 11 and 12 of the two outer rows were mounted individually and elastically on their respective plates 13 and 14. The fig. 1 and 6 indicate in more detail how this assembly is carried out: Each mirror is secured in a frame 54, to the back of which is fixed a threaded rod 55 , which crosses the plate. An adjustable tension with coil spring pushes the frame against the internal face of this plate.
In each mirror, the plate carries three setting screws 57, 58, 59 arranged at three points corresponding to the vertices of a right triangle, the rod 55 being itself located at the point of intersection of the three medians of this triangle.
The screws 57, 58, 59 act on the frame 54, against the action of the spring 56, according to the point-line-plane principle, well known in optics .
A this effect, the tip of one of the three screws, 58 for example, bears in a circular bowl of the frame 54. The tip of the screw 57 is itself engaged in a rectilinear groove, oriented along the line 57-58. It therefore allows the mirror to rotate, without wedging, around the axis of rotation 58-59. The screw 59 finally bears on a smooth surface of the frame 54. It allows the mirror to pivot, without jamming, around the axis of rotation 57-58, perpendicular to the axis 58-59.
Thanks to this arrangement, the mirror can be oriented and adjusted with all the necessary precision, with respect to the corresponding objective, so to </ B > align and distribute the images in a straight row, in the plane of the sensitive surface SS (fig. 1).
The camera proper is completed by a coupled telemeter viewfinder, designated as a whole by V and shown in figs. 7 and 8. This rangefinder is mounted on the rear part B of the body of the device. It comprises, in a known manner, a semi-transparent mirror 69 inclined to 45 "on the sighting axis and an end mirror 70, rotating around a vertical axis.
The range finder has a 71 collimator frame, ensuring to the observer the same field of view as that of the objectives of the device.
To eliminate the effects of parallax, the body of the range finder is pivotally mounted as a whole, on two horizontal end journals 72, against the action of a return spring 73 < / B> which tends to tilt the rangefinder down.
On the front part À of the body of the apparatus is fixed a ramp 74. A finger 75, belonging to the body of the range finder, is applied to it, by the action of the spring 73. Thanks to this arrangement, the reciprocal sliding movement of the two front and rear parts of the body of the apparatus causes the inclination rangefinder, to the extent necessary so that its optical axis always meets the sighting plane of the camera, at the shooting distance.
At the same time as the finger 75 slides on the ramp 74, the end of a lever 76, to which the vertical pivot - of the mobile mirror is secured 70, itself moves against a ramp 77 (see fig. 8). The profile of this ramp is determined, in a known manner, so that the rotation of the mirror 70 is proportional to the focusing distance.
The operation of the apparatus described is as follows: The plate holder frame C having been placed in the rear part B of the body of the apparatus, the focusing is carried out by acting on the crank 40, which rotates the pinions 38, 39 as well as the screw 36. This transmits its movement to the other three angle screws, via the 37 sprockets and the chain which connects them; the rotation of the screws 36 causes the displacement of two bars 31 in the appropriate direction, by means of the nuts 35. The four tubes angles 32, 33 are thus displaced axially, against the action of the springs 34.
In their longitudinal movement, they drag the rear part B of the body of the apparatus and the frame C which it contains. The distance which separates the sensitive surface and the objectives is thus modified in the proportion required by the focusing.
The sleepers 29, 30 are moved at the same time as the bars 31; these taverses, acting à on all the panels 16 partitions, slide the latter into the corresponding guide slots 23, 24 of the plates 25, 26. The orientation of these slots has been determined to cause all partitions 15, 16, at. to be correctly directed at each shooting distance. At the same time, the sliding of the panels 16 against the panels 15 of the partitions allows the lengthening or the shortening of these partitions, to the extent of the displacement of the rear part B, compared to to the part A.
Thus, the rear edge of each 16 panel always remains very close to the photosensitive surface, at all focusing distances, which is essential to ensure clear demarcation between the different juxtaposed negative views.
The effect of the adjustment mechanism of the partitions is that they are all parallel, when the focus is to infinity, and that their convergence is strongest when the camera is aimed at the point. closest com patible with its construction. In fig. 4, the partitions shown in thin lines correspond to the camera's focus on the infinite. The line in strong lines is that of the partitions, when the device aims at a close close point. It will be noted that, under these conditions, the total length of the two rows of negative images, recorded at each shot, is greater when the subject being photographed is brought closer than when it is very remote.
In fig. 4, 1 indicates for example the length of each row of images for a photograph taken at in finite, and L this same length for the photograph of a close subject.
During the relative movement of the two parts A and B of the body of the apparatus, the threaded rod 48 (see fig. 5) has set the disc 44 in rotation, so that its graduation corresponding to à the shooting distance is in the field of the objective 50, inside the tube 49.
At the same time, the range finder V, which rests on the ramp 74 (see fig. 7 and 8), has received the necessary inclination to polish which its sighting axis cuts the plane of view of the device, to the shooting distance. The lever 76 of the pivoting mirror 70, by moving against its guide ramp 77, has itself oriented the latter so that the visual rays of the operator, after having been reflected by the mirror 69 and by the mirror 70, meet on the target object, with those of the visual rays which passed through the semi-transparent mirror without reflection 69.
If the operator then operates the shutter 5, the latter opens to print the two rows of negative images D on the photosensitive surface, he -provokes at the same time the recording, in the angle of the shot, of the focus mark carried by the disk 44.
This mark will be used, when the image is projected, to restore the focus of the camera. A this effect, we will act on my level 40 jtisqu 'that the corresponding figure appears in the window 60 of an indicator mechanism 61 of realization which shell, coupled to the crank 40 .
In practice, the device as described will advantageously be mounted in a frame 62 (see fig. 9 and 10) to which it is necessary. articulated by two end journals 63, 64. A progressive inclination control, for example with worm screw 65 and toothed sector 66, can be adopted to aim the device on the target point.
The 62 frame has a 67 sole, allowing either to place the device on a flat surface, or to fix it to the orien table top of a suitable foot. This arrangement makes it possible to orient the device in all directions. 68 handles make it easy to carry by by hand. It is obvious that the apparatus shown could also be fitted with the various known accessories, specific to to facilitate handling: light meter, device for using flash lamps, etc.
It could also, without departing from the scope of the invention, be carried out in such a way to using roll films, instead of plates. In the latter case, of course, the device for turning over and overturning the chassis C will not have to be used.
