Process for the production of a condensation product. The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of a new condensation product by reacting cyclopentanone with a mixture of acetaldehyde and crotonaldehyde in the presence of an alkaline condensing agent, which is characterized in that the aldehydes are converted to an excess of cyclopentanone to initiate the reaction let it act at a low temperature.
The reaction mixture can then; after adjustment to pa 5-7, heated to a higher temperature for a few geit, if necessary in vacuo or under pressure, with volatile components being removed. After neutralization, the condensation agent can also be removed by separating the aqueous layer and then heating.
An aqueous or alcoholic solution of alkali or alkaline earth metal hydroxides can be used as the condensing agent. carbonates or amine bases can be used.
The product obtained, which is always a mixture composed of the same compounds, is a clear, linseed oil-like, air-drying oil with a faint odor, the color and viscosity of which are different depending on the conditions used in its manufacture.
Example: 840 parts by weight of cyclopentanone are heated with 150 parts by weight of 7-15% sodium hydroxide solution to 80-70 and then, over the course of a few hours, a mixture of 220 parts by weight of acetaldehyde and 350 parts by weight of crotonaldehyde eingetra conditions. The reaction mixture is z. B. adjusted to pH 5-7 with sulfuric acid and the resulting P.ohölschicht ge separated from the aqueous layer if necessary.
The volatile components are removed from the crude oil by heating to 100-300 in a vacuum, whereupon the condensation product obtained is further heated, if necessary at elevated pressure, until the desired degree of viscosity is reached.
