Process for the decoration of a new azo dye. It has been found that a new azo dye is obtained if the pyrazolone derivative of the formula
EMI0001.0006
1 mol of diazotized 1-aminobenzene-2-carbonic acid, 1 mol of cyanuric chloride, 1 time aniline and 1 mol of 4- (4 "-amino) -phenyl-4'-oxy-1,
1'-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid can act on one another in such a way that the diazo compound engages in the 4-position of the pyrazolone nucleus and one hydrogen atom each of the NHs group of the pyrazolone derivative, the aminobenzene derivative and the aniline react with one halogen atom each of the cyanuric chloride .
The new azo dye is a light brown powder, which dissolves in water and dilute sodium carbonate solution with orange-yellow, in dilute sodium hydroxide solution with orange and in concentrated sulfuric acid with brown-red color and stains on cotton or regenerated cellulose. results in yellow colorations which, when copied in the dyebath or afterwards, are very washable and lightfast.

are dissolved in 500 parts of water with the addition of 50 parts of sodium carbonate. A solution made from diazotized 1-aminobenzene-2-carlionic acid, prepared as follows:
13.7 parts of 1.-aminobenzene-2-earbonsiiiii-e # are dissolved in 200 parts of water and 14 parts by weight of 36'B6 sodium hydroxide solution. 7 parts of sodium nitrite are added to the solution. Then you carry this mixture with stirring in 40 parts of 30% technical hydrochloric acid and about. 100 parts ice.
After the end of the diazotization, the diazo solution is filtered off from small impurities.
After the coupling is complete, the mixture is heated to 60 for a short time and then allowed to cool to room temperature. The solution is neutralized with dilute acetic acid and cooled to 0 "with the addition of ice. At this temperature, a solution of 20 parts of cyanuric chloride in 150 parts of acetone is slowly added dropwise with stirring.
where at mari the hydrochloric acid released is blunted with Na-. The mixture is stirred for a total of about 1 'hour at 0 "-ind then a solution of the sodium salt of 33.3 parts of 4- (4" -amino) -plienyl-4'-ox \ r-1,7 is added to the condensation mixture. '-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid, dissolved in 1000-1200 parts of hot water :, to.
During mixing, the temperature rises to about 40-50 and is kept at this temperature for 1 hour, at which point the hydrochloric acid released during the condensation must be carefully blunted by adding sodium bicarbonate.
In order to saturate the third chlorate of the cyanuric chloride, 30 parts of aniline are added to the reaction mixture and the mixture is heated to the boil and boiled for a further 2 hours. 11 parts of sodium carbonate are added to the mixture, and sodium chloride is added for complete precipitation of the dyestuff, and the sodium salt of the dyestuff of the formula which has separated out is suction filtered

The 4- (4 "-amino) -plienyl-4'-oxy-1,1'-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid can be prepared as follows: 26.5 parts of 4-amino-4'-aeetyla. mino-diphenyl is mixed as a hydrochloride in about 500 parts of water and, after adding 30 parts of hydrochloric acid d = 1.115, with an aqueous solution of 7 parts of sodium nitrite, which is run under the surface of the liquid leaves. at about:
10 "dia pour in about 100 parts of ice and ehvas water. One stirs about. 24 hours and warms up to 60-70 after the coupling is complete and sucks off the rather poorly soluble dye after cooling and looking.
For the purpose of splitting off the acetyl group, the Nutsehkuchen is boiled for 2 hours in about 1200 parts of water and 120 parts of sodium hydroxide solution. After the saponification, the dye is precipitated by salting out and deposited.
