Additional patent to main patent no. 197582. Process for the production of a new azo dye. It has been found that a new azo dye is obtained if 1-phenyl- (4'-phenyl-4 "-amino) -3-carboxy-5-pyrazolone of the formula
EMI0001.0007
Room acid chloride and dianotized 1-amino-3-sulfobenzene-6-carboxylic acid can act on one another in such a way that
that the room acid chloride reacts with the amino group of the pyrazolone derivative and the diazo compound intervenes in the 4-position of the pyrazolone nucleus.
The dye thus obtained forms a brown powder which dyes cotton in yellow tones. By treating in substance or on the fiber with copper-releasing agents, the new dye is converted into a very lightfast coloring copper compound.
The 1-phenyl- (4'-phenyl-4 "-amino) -3-carboxy-5-pyrazolone can be prepared as follows: 22.6 parts of finely ground monoacetylbenzidine are mixed in 50 parts of water and a little ice, 30 parts of hydrochloric acid dz = 1.15 are added, a solution of 7 parts of sodium nitrite in about 20 parts of water is slowly added dropwise at <B> 0-10 '</B> and, when the addition of the nitrite is complete, about 1% is stirred Hour and filtered.
The filtered diazo solution is allowed to run into an externally cooled mixture of 100 parts of tin chloride about 63% and 50 parts of hydrochloric acid at 0-5 ° with thorough stirring.
The hydrazine formed is difficult to solve. The mixture is stirred for about 12 hours, suction filtered, washed with dilute hydrochloric acid and then with water.
The hydrazine chlorohydrate of the formula thus prepared
EMI0001.0039
is boiled in 500 parts of water and 100 parts of hydrochloric acid d = 1.15 for about 2-3 hours. The chlorohydrate of 4-Hydraziiio-4'-aminodiphenyl goes into solution. If necessary, it is tinned with hydrogen sulfide, filtered and allowed to cool. A large part of the hydrochloride precipitates. Further hydrochloride can be salted out from the mother liquor or the base can be set free with alkalis.
The latter, recrystallized from alcohol, forms white crystals of F. <B> 179 ", </B> which turn brown in the air.
27.2 parts of the chlorine hydrate of the hydrazine are suspended in hot water. It is condensed with 21 parts of sodium oxaloacetic ester at about 60. After the condensation has ended, ring closure to the pyrazolone derivative and alkaline saponification of the carboxylic acid ester group is allowed to cool and the 1-phenyl- (4'-phenyl-4 "-amino) -3-carboxy-5-pyrazolone is precipitated by acids.
To produce the pyrazolone, one can also start from the hydrazine produced by the sulfite method.
<I> Example: </I> 29.5 parts of 1-phenyl- (4'-phenyl-4 "-amino) -3-carboxy-5-pyrazolone are dissolved in 200 parts of pyridine and at <B > 60-70 '</B> treated with a solution of 16.6 parts of room acid chloride in 50 parts of acetone. The mixture is stirred for about 4 hours at <B> 70-801 </B> and poured into ice water, suction filtered and Dissolves in dilute sodium hydroxide solution with the addition of a little alcohol, filtered, precipitated with hydrochloric acid, filtered again and washed with dilute hydrochloric acid.
The 1-phenyl- (4'-phenyl-4 "-cinnamoylamino) -3-carboxy-5-pyrazolone of the formula obtained
EMI0002.0025
is a yellow powder which is insoluble in dilute acids and sparingly soluble in dilute aqueous alkalis.
42.5 parts of 1-phenyl .- (4'-phenyl-4 "- cinnamoylamino) -3 - carboxy # -5-pyrazolone are now dissolved in about 500 parts of water, with the addition of 10 parts of 361 sodium hydroxide solution B6 and 15 parts of sodium carbonate.
The solution is slowly mixed with the diazo compound from 21.7 parts of 1-amino-3-sulfobenzene-6-carboxylic acid, and stirred until the coupling has ended.
The dye is isolated as usual, if appropriate after conversion into the complex copper compound.
