Process for the preparation of an azo dye. It has been found that valuable azo dyes are obtained if monoazo dyes of the general formula are used
EMI0001.0005
wherein g is hydroxyl, alkoxy, halogen or the carboxyl group and y is hydroxyl, the amino or a substituted amido group,
one z denotes the same substituents as y and the other z denotes hydrogen or any substituent in which R denotes a benzene or naphthalene nucleus and R and the benzene nucleus R 'can still be substituted as desired, with any diazotization component, exclusively aminoazo bodies, combined,
to which dyes a third diazotization component can be coupled and the dyes obtainable in this way before or after the last coupling with metal donating agents in the heavy metal complex compounds of the corresponding o-oxy- respectively. Converted o-carboxyazo dyes by methods known per se.
Compared to known, comparable dyes, those obtainable by the present process are technically advanced because they are insensitive to acids.
The dyes obtainable in this way are particularly suitable for dyeing leather; they provide level dyeings which have very good light fastness.
The dyes can be used in the same way for chrome and vegetable tanned leather, the chrome complex dyes also for Glac6 leather.
Furthermore, the dyes which can be produced by the method can be used for dyeing animal and vegetable fibers.
The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of a new azo dye. It is characterized in that the dianotated 6-chloro-2-amidophenol-4-sulfoi) acid is coupled with resorcinol, the monoazo dye obtained is combined with diano-oriented dehydrothiotoluidine sulfonic acid and the dye is converted into the chromium complex compound by treatment with a chromium-releasing agent convicted.
Example: 22.3 parts by weight of 6-chloro-2-amidopheaol-4-sulfonic acid are dianotized with hydrochloric acid and 6.9 parts by weight of sodium nitrite and coupled with 11 parts by weight of resorcinol. The isolated monoazo dye is again stirred up with water and combined with the diazo compound of 32.1 parts by weight of dehydrothiotoluidine sulfonic acid in an alkaline form.
The dye, which is isolated in the usual way, is boiled for several hours with chromium formate solution, corresponding to 8 parts of Cr20s, to convert it into the chrome lacquer and, after clarification, is then salted and isolated. The dye dyes leather in dark, somewhat reddish brown tones. Silk is also dyed in similar tones.
