EMI0001.0022
also weder Hy- droxyl- noch Alkoxygruppen, enthält.
Man gibt.
Process for the preparation of a copper-compatible tetrakisazo dye. The present invention relates to the production of copper-colored, brown cellulose dyes which are characterized by very good general properties.
The group of copper-based polyazo dyes that draw directly on cellulose is very popular because these dyes are easy to use, usually very lightfast and also relatively cheap. They have. has gained in importance since the production of new types was successful, which are also characterized by excellent wetness properties, as their copper-plated cell silose colorations can withstand repeated soap washes without any significant change.
Another important property that affects the wearing fastness and thus the possibility of using such copperable cellulose dyes is. the perspiration. The new tetra kisazo dyestuffs of the present invention now give brown coppery dyes on cellulose fibers which are not only characterized by very good fastness to light, water and washing, but also by improved acid and visual visibility compared to similar known dyestuffs. They 1 thus represent a valuable improvement of the similar dyes known to date.
The copper-ferable tetrakisazo dyes according to the invention are obtained by adding 1 mol of a tetrazotized diamino compound of the general formula I.
EMI0001.0022
in which the benzene rings A and B can contain other substituents that are customary in azo dyes, but not water-soluble and not capable of metal complexation,
on the one hand with 1 mol of a disazo dye of the general formula 1I
EMI0001.0032
where R is the remainder of a diazonium compound of the benzene or naphthalene series which contains at least one water-solubilizing group, and on the other hand combined with 1 mole of 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone.
Advantageously, the Tetrazov connection of the diary I is first combined with the disazo dye of the formula II and only then with the 3-1V-ethyl-5-pyrazolone.
According to the invention usable diamino compounds of the formula I are the m- or p-amino benzoyl derivatives of p-diamino compounds of the benzene series in question, the components should be chosen so that the diarain of formula 1 neither water-solubilizing groups, ie neither sulfonic acid - nor carboxylic acid groups, nor groups suitable for metal complex formation,
that is, contains neither hydroxyl nor alkoxy groups. The other substituents customary in azo dyes, for example alkyl or halogen, can occur both in benzene ring A and in benzene ring B. The dyes from the p-aminobenzoyl compound often have better properties than: the corresponding dyes built up from the m-aminobenzoyl compound.
As diamines of the formula I which can be used according to the invention, the p-aminobenzoyl- to m-aminobenzoyl compounds are therefore generally preferred, p-aminobenzoyl-p-phenylenediamine being the simplest representative of the technically most important group of dyes according to the invention.
Suitable diazonium compounds which provide the radical R of the disazo dye of the general formula II are those of aminonaphthalene sulfonic acids, in particular monosulfonic acids, and preferably those of aminobenzene sulfonic and carboxylic acids, the benzene ring also having further substituents customary in azo dyes, like halogen,
Alkyl and alkoxy groups and, in contrast to the diamino compound of the formula I, can also contain metal complex-forming groups, in particular the ortho-oxy-carboxy configuration.
Particularly suitable compounds introducing the radical R are the 3-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acids and 3-aminobenzene-1-carboxylic acids, including, for example, metanilic acid, 6-chloro- and 6-ethyl -3-aminobenzenesulfonic acids,
6-oxy-3-aminobenzenecarboxylic acid and 6-oxy-5-sulfo-3-aminobenzoic acid. The disa.zo dye of the general formula II is obtained from the diazonium compounds of the aminonaphthalene and aminobenzene compounds just mentioned by methods known per se by coupling with a 2-acyl aminophenol, cleavage of the ayl radical by saponification,
Further diazotization of the aminoazo dye thus obtained and coupling of the diazonium compound with resorcinol.
The dyes according to the invention, in the form of their water-soluble alkali salts, are dark powders which, under the conditions customary for direct dyes, are absorbed very well from the dyebath containing Glauber's salt on cellulose fibers. The copper plating can be done in the dye bath or in a fresh bath with the usual copper salts, for example with copper sulfate or copper acetate in a neutral or weakly acidic medium.
If necessary, it is also possible to use copper compounds resistant to alkalis, such as those obtained, for example, when copper sulphate is reacted with sodium tartrate in a soda-alkali bath.
The present patent is now a process for the preparation of a copper ble tetrakisazo dye. The process is characterized in that 1 -hol of the tetrazo compound of 1- (4'-amino-benzoylamino) -4-a.mino-benzene is mixed with 7 moles of the disazo dye of the formula
EMI0002.0081
and on the other hand with. 1 Hol 3-methyl-5-pyrazolorr combined.
The new Tetra.kisazo dye obtained is a dark powder and dissolves in water and conc. Sulfuric acid with a bright color.
Example: The diazonium compound produced from 13.7 parts of 1-aminobenzene-3-carboxylic acid is coupled in the presence of 29.2 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution and 25 parts of sodium carbonate with 18.7 parts of 1-oxalylamino-2-oxybenzene and saponified the monoazo dye formed in the heat with dilute sodium hydroxide solution.
The dye is then cold in the presence of 20% common salt and 7.6 parts sodium nitrite and 50 parts hydrochloric acid (d:
1.16). further diazotized. The diazonium compound is filtered off and coupled as a slurry with 11.0 parts of 1,3-dioxybenzene and 40 parts of sodium carbonate. The disazo dye is precipitated with 100 parts of hydrochloric acid, filtered off and dissolved with water and 20 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution. One gives.
now this solution to the tetrazo compound from 19.1 parts of 1.- (4'-amino-benzoylamino) -4-amino-benzene. After the intermediate product has formed in weakly acetic acid solution, 8.4 parts of 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone in neutral, aqueous solution and then 7.2 parts of sodium bicarbonate in 144 parts of water are added. The tetrakisazo dye is filtered off while hot and dried.
The dye forms a dark powder and dissolves in water and conc. Sulfuric acid with a brown color. It dyes cellulose fibers in brown shades which, when treated with copper sulfate, have very good fastness properties.
