Process for the preparation of an azo dye. It has been found that substantive azo dyes can be produced by using the diazo compound of the am available according to the methods of German patents 163040, 250342 and 252376:
inobenzoylamino compounds and the sulfonic acids of thiazole bases with 1-aryl-5-pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acids or their derivatives, such as carboxylic acid esters, amides, arylides and the like.
The 1-aryl nucleus of the coupling component can be substituted as desired, for example by halogen, alkyl-alkoxy, the sulfone group, the carboxyl group and the like. In the case of the presence of an amino group as a substitute, the dyeings produced with the new dyes can be improved in their fastness to washing by post-treatment with formaldehyde. In addition, these dyes can be further diazotized and developed in substance or on the fiber.
In general, the present process gives dyes with a yellow to orange shade. Compared to known dyes, which differ from them in that they contain 1-aminophenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone as the coupling component, the new dyes are characterized by the fact that they generally deliver somewhat redder shades and are neutral and alkaline are easier to eteal.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of an azo dye, which is characterized in that 1 1VIo1 di-p-aminobenzoyl-4,4'-diamino, diphenylurea-3,3'-disulfonic acid is tetrazole and 2 Mol 1- (m'-nitro) -phenyl-5-pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid couples and reduces the nitro group to the amino group.
<I> Example: </I> 64 g of di-p-aminobenzoyl-4,4'-diaminodiphenylurea-3,3'-disulfonic acid are dissolved in 2 liters of water and 11 g of soda, with <B> 13.8 </B> g of sodium nitrite are added and poured into a mixture of 56 ccm of 10-fold molar hydrochloric acid, a little water and ice. The diazotization is completed fairly quickly, and the mixture is then allowed to run into a solution of 51 g of 1- (m'-nitro) -phenyl-5-pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid to which 56 g of soda have been added. The dye forms quickly.
To complete the mixture is stirred for a few hours. The mixture is then heated to <B> 80 '</B>, dissolved with a solution of 84 parts of sodium sulphide in a little water, added and kept at 80 for one hour while stirring.
The dye is then salted out, filtered off and dried. The dye pulls on cotton in reddish yellow tones, which after diazotizing and developing develop on the fiber with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone a real yellow,
with ss naphthol a. Orange supplies. The colors are neutral and alkaline with excellent etchability. The undeveloped color can be treated with formaldehyde. This significantly improves the wash fastness without losing its good itchability.
