Die teilweise nieder geschlagene Kupferverbindung wird durch Zu- Satz von Kochsalz vollständig gefällt und ab gefiltert. Getrocknet und gemahlen ist sie ein stark dunkelgraues Pulver. Sie löst sich in Wasser zu einer grauen Lösung, welche nach Zusatz von Ätznatron grüner wird und nach Zusatz voii Qhlorwasserstoffsäure eine rötlich blaue Fällung ergibt. In kalter, konzentrierter Schwefelsäure löst sie sich zu einer grünlich blauen Lösung, welche nach Verdünnung mit Wasser eine dumpfviolette Fällung ergibt.
Die neue Kupferverbindung färbt Baum wolle in neutral grauen Tönen von hoher Licht- und Waschfestigkeit.
