"métodos de produzir um panto-composto, pantotenato e beta-alanina, de aumentar a produção de um panto-composto e de identificar compostos que modulam a atividade da pantotenato cinase, microorganismo recombinante, vetor, molécula de ácido nucleico isolada, polipetídeo e proteína da pantotenato cinase isolada". a presente invenção retrata métodos de produzir panto-compostos (por exemplo, pantotenato) usando microorganismos em que o caminho biossintétíco do pantotenato e/ou o caminho biossintético da isoleucina-valina e/ou o caminho biossintético da coenzimaa tenha sido manipulado. métodos que retratam microorganismos que supraexpressam a cetopantoato reductase bem como microorganismos que supraexpressam a aspartato <244>-descarboxilase são fornecidos. métodos de produzir panto-compostos em uma maneira independente de precursor e em alto rendimento são descritos. microorganismos recombinantes, vetores, moléculas de ácido nucleico isoladas, genes e produtos de gene úteis na prática das metodologias acima também são fornecidos. a presente invenção também retrata um gene da pantotenato cinase microbiana não identificado anteriormente, coax, bem como métodos de produzir panto-compostos que utilizam microorganismos tendo atividade modificada da pantotenato cinase. microorganismos recombinantes, vetores, moléculas de ácido nucleico coax isoladas e proteínas coax purificadas são retratados. também são retratados métodos para identificar os moduladores da pantotenato cinase que utilizam os microorganismos recombinantes e/ou as proteínas coax purificadas da presente invenção.
