"VETORES UNIVERSAIS DE INTEGRAçãO E EXPRESSãO DE CLOROPLASTOS, PLANTAS TRANSFORMADAS E PRODUTOS DOS MESMOS". A invenção fornece vetores de expressão e integração de cloroplasto universal os quais são competentes para transformar de modo estável e integrar genes de interesse no genoma do cloroplasto de múltiplas espécies de plantas. São fornecidas plantas transformadas e sua progênie. São transformadas plantas monocotiledóneas e dicotiledóneas as quais nunca haviam sido transformadas até o momento. Plantas transformadas com um gene sintético expressam valiosos polímeros à base de proteínas biodegradáveis (PBPs). Plantas transformadas produzem moléculas de alto valor. é provida resistência a safras agrícolas contra as principais classes de herbicidas químicos. é usada resistência do herbicida como um marcador selecionável letal para transformação de cloroplasto. As plantas transformadas têm a capacidade de expressar, além do traço visado, um traço secundário, desejável, não-visado. é provida resistência a insetos às plantas transformadas, tanto contra insetos que são suscetíveis a toxinas Bt e contra insetos que desenvolveram resistência a toxinas Bt.
