Abstract

"MéTODO PARA APERFEIçOAR ROBUSTEZ DE DESEMPENHO DE DIREçãO UTILIZANDO NãO UNIFORMIDADE DE RIGIDEZ EM PNEU/RODA". A invenção refere-se a métodos para aperfeiçoar o desempenho de direção de veículo e robustez desse desempenho através do controle de não-uniformidades nos pneus, rodas e conjuntos de pneu/roda do, veículo como um meio para superar a tendência dos sistemas de direção em certos tipos de veículo de serem submetidos à 'perda de desempenho de direção'. Enquanto minimiza variações de força lateral (por exemplo, desbalanceamento de acoplamento), uma quantidade controlada de variação de força radial e/ou tangencial é induzida em um ou mais conjuntos de pneu/roda por intermédio de não-uniformidade de massa, não-uniformidade dimensional e/ou não-uniformidade de rigidez. Para não-uniformidade de rigidez, o método preferido compreende transmitir uma quantidade controlada de não-uniformidade de rigidez ao pneu pelo menos em um dos conjuntos de pneu/roda, seguido pelo balanceamento estático e dinâmico de todos os conjuntos de pneu/roda do veículo. A não-uniformidade de rigidez compreende um ou mais setores do pneu tendo uma rigidez diferente (menor ou preferivelmente maior) em relação ao restante do pneu. Todas as não-uniformidades de pneu transmitidas de acordo com a invenção são preferivelmente distribuídas de forma meridionalmente simétrica em torno do plano equatorial do pneu, de modo a induzir variações de força tangencial e/ou radial porém não variações de força lateral. Variações de força tangencial e/ou radial, benéficas, resultarão da operação de tal pneu, mesmo se o conjunto de pneu/roda for balanceado por pesos adicionados à roda. A não-uniformidade de rigidez é preferivelmente transmitida no pneu por intermédio de uma ou mais junções pesadas, e/ou pedaços extras de pano aplicados à carcaça ou banda de rodagem, e/ou setores de componentes de pneu tendo rigidez diferente. Efeitos sinérgicos benéficos resultam das combinações das diversas formas de não-uniformidade de massa, rigidez e dimensional, benéfica.
