<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Prefabricated building panels and their method of application".
The invention relates to a system of prefabricated building panels which are simple and economical to manufacture, easy to assemble and practically non-combustible, particularly suitable for the construction of exterior walls and partition walls, these panels serving directly as framing members. construction.
According to the invention, each panel consists of a wooden frame, which can be subdivided into a number of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
compartments by crosspieces can also be made of wood, the uprights and the base of the frame having a longitudinal groove on the edge, while the outer faces of the frame are completely covered with relatively thin and advantageously non-combustible plates, the hollow between these covering plates being filled with an insulating material, preferably incombustible and advantageously mechanically resistant, such as agglomerate or lightweight concrete of expanded clay granules, cast in said hollow.
The assembly and the assembly of the panels is simple and fast, each panel being joined by its inner edge to a support beam, generally in wood, provided with a groove, with the interposition of an added tongue, engaging in the grooves of said edge of the panel and of said beam, with the interposition of glue improving the strength of the assembly, the side edges of neighboring panels also being assembled using an attached tongue and glue *
Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description of two exemplary embodiments which will be given below with reference to the appended schematic drawing, in which
Figure 3 is a plan view of a panel during manufacture,
the second cover panel not yet being in place,
Figure 2 is a side view of a panel,
Figure 3 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view of an exterior wall formed of panels according to the invention, and
FIG. 4 is a fragmentary vertical cross-sectional view of an alternative embodiment of such a wall.
In this drawing, 1, 2, 3, 4 denote respectively the base, the top and the two uprights of the panel frame. This can be divided into compartments by cross members such as
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
5 the number of compartments depending on the size of the panel * The frame will be completely covered on the outside by two cover plates 6.7 advantageously incombustible (Figure 2).
After placing one of these (Figure 1), the hollows 8 of the frame are filled with an insulating material, preferably incombustible, advantageously a lightweight concrete agglomerate of expanded clay granules, which will increase. substantially the load-bearing strength of the panel.
The base 1 and the uprights 3 '4 have a groove 9. in their outer face, with a view to assembling the panels together and to a support beam 10 placed on the foundation 11 of the building (Figures 3-4), this beam also being provided with a groove in its upper face. An attached tongue 12, for example made of hard wood, is engaged in ette last groove, with the interposition of glue, and the panel is placed on the beam so that the tongue 12 engages in the groove 9 of its base 1.
Before laying the panel, glue is applied to the tongue and its vicinity, while plastic mastic is advantageously applied to the edges of the upper face of the beam 10.
The panels are assembled together in a similar manner by means of an attached tongue which is engaged in the grooves of the uprights of neighboring panels, and of glue.
Thanks to the use of the added tongues 12, the frame elements can be simply grooved, and it is not necessary to extend the grooves of the uprights in the ends of the base 1.
The vertical edges of the panels are advantageously chamfered so as to allow repointing to form a perfectly flat and even surface.
On all of the upper edges of the panels, beams 13 forming part of the superstructure can be fixed directly.
It will be understood that the panels according to the invention can therefore directly constitute the framework of the constru.ment.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
In the case of a wall according to Figure 3, an exterior cladding plate 14 can be applied directly to the panel. If desired, a thin facade wall 15, for example half a brick, can be constructed with an air gap outside the wall formed of panels according to the invention.
Voids for the placement of doors or windows can be made directly in the panels according to the invention, these. empty spaces being delimited by wooden beams allowing easy adaptation of door and window frames. In the case of Figure 4, this frame can cover the total thickness of the panel and the wall 14.
