<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
A simple titre d'exemple plusieurs formes de réalisation de l'invention seront décrites, ci-après, avec référence aux dessins annexés dans lesquels La figure 1 est une vue d'ensemble de l'appareil thermosta- tique;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
La figure 2 est une vue à plus grande échelle d'un bouton de commande pour oct appareil, établi selon l'invention et montré en coupe suivant la ligne II-II de figure 3;
la figure 3 est une vue d'au-dessus du bouton de commande montré en figure 2;
La figure 4 est une vue en coupe d'une variante de réalisa- tion d'un bouton de commande suivant la ligne IV-IV de figure 5 ; la figure 5 est une vue d'au-dessus, partiellement en coupe, du bouton de commande montré en figure 4 ; la figure 6 est une vue en coupe d'une autre variante de réalisation d'un bouton de commande suivant la ligne VI-VI de figure 7 ; la figure 7 est une vue d'au-dessus du bouton de commande montré en figure 6 ; la figure 8 est une vue en coupe transversale suivant la ligne VIII-VIII de figure 6, en regardant dans le sens des ! flèches;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Flexible transmission duct thermostat"
In main patent N 530,259 of July 9, 1954, filed in the name of the applicant, a thermostat has been described and shown for maintaining a determined temperature in a hot or cold chamber, the thermosensitive element of this thermostat being constituted by a rigid sheath, made of metal, in which extends axially a metal rod, said rigid sheath and said rod each being made of a metal of different expansion and being joined together by one of their ends, the other end of said rigid sheath being connected by a flexible sheath to a fixed element of the heating gas flow regulator,
while said rod is connected to the movable element of this regulator by a flexible steel wire engaged to
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
sliding in said flexible sheath so that the relative longitudinal movements of said rigid sheath with respect to said rod, under the effect of temperature variations, modify the position of the movable element of this regulator by controlling the heating gas passage section.
In this patent, the apparatus which controls the section of passage of the gas to the heating device and which comprises the regulating mechanism actuated by thermostat, is controlled by a rotary knob, provided with graduations, the angular position of which with respect to a. fixed index, indicates the degree of opening of said device.
As during the placement of the thermostat in the enclosure whose temperature is to be adjusted, it could be that, due to the presence of numerous curvatures or too small radii imposed on these curvatures of the flexible sheath of the thermostat, the cable of the. to the friction of oelui-ai in its sheath, this braking would have the consequence that the control diagrams obtained by pressing the button in the direction of increasing temperatures and in the direction of decreasing temperatures are not strictly superimposable. It therefore proves necessary to provide in the control device means capable of compensating for this difference between the "rising" curve and the "falling" curve.
The object of the present invention is the provision, in the control button of the gas control valve, of mechanical means capable of automatically correcting the aforesaid adjustment deviations in both directions of the rotational movement of said control button. ordered. -
By way of example, several embodiments of the invention will be described hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings in which FIG. 1 is an overall view of the thermostatic apparatus;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
FIG. 2 is a view on a larger scale of a control button for an apparatus, established according to the invention and shown in section along the line II-II of FIG. 3;
Figure 3 is a top view of the control button shown in Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a sectional view of an alternative embodiment of a control button along the line IV-IV of Figure 5; Figure 5 is a top view, partially in section, of the control knob shown in Figure 4; FIG. 6 is a sectional view of another variant embodiment of a control button along line VI-VI of FIG. 7; Figure 7 is a top view of the control button shown in Figure 6; Figure 8 is a cross-sectional view along the line VIII-VIII of Figure 6, looking in the direction of! arrows;
,, 'Figure 9 is a sectional view along line IX-IX of Figure 10 of another variant embodiment of a control button, and. Figure 10 is a top view of the control knob shown in Figure 9.
In these drawings, figure 1 shows the whole of the thermostatic apparatus described in the main patent N 530,259, in which the angular movements imparted to the button 6, wedged on the rod 5, control the movements of a bell 8, by in relation to valve 11, in order to modify the section of passage of the gas supplying the heater, -
According to the present improvements (Figures 2 and 3) the button 6, made integral with the rod 5, comprises a flange 24 having on its upper face a double scale whose outer ring 25 carries, in red color for example,
the "rising" graduations as well as the numbers relating to
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
at these graduations and an arrow indicating the corresponding direction of rotation, of the button 6, while the central crown 26 bears the graduations "descends" with numbers and direction arrow in a different color color.
An index 27 screwed onto a fixed element of the device comprises a point 28 forming a mark cooperating with the graduations of the inner ring 26, while a window 29 formed in said index, cooperating with the graduations of the outer ring 25, if necessary, a movable shutter driven by simple friction of the button, can obscure one or the other scale depending on the direction of rotation of said button.
The difference between the graduations of the same value of the inner and outer rings corresponds to the correction imposed on the angular displacement of the button 6, in order to compensate for the resistance opposing the sliding of the steel wire 14 in the flexible sheath 15 of the thermostatic apparatus and which results - from the friction of this wire dtâcier in the places of curvature formed in said sheath during its mounting in the enclosure in which the temperature is to be regulated.
The same result can be obtained using a first variant of the control device shown in Figures 4 and 5 ..
In this variant embodiment, the rim 24 of the button 6 carries a single crown of graduations, this button 6 is provided with a retaining screw 30 engaged in a notch-31 in the form of a sector formed in the rod 5 of the device, which allows a certain free angular displacement of the button 6 around the rod 5.
During the rotation of said knob, the screw 30 drives the control rod 5 by contact on one or the other of the end faces of the notch 31. It is easy to notice that, in this way , to a reversal of the rotational movement of the button 6, corresponds to a zero action zone on the adjustment mechanism of the thermostatic device. The judiciously suitable diameter of the screw 30. allows the value of the neutralization zone of the adjustment to be fixed.

When the button 6 is rotated in one direction or the other, it is easy to notice that a reversal of the movement again corresponds to a neutral zone of zero action on the gas adjustment device.
For the control of the gas admission control apparatus, one could also imagine a mechanical device making it obligatory or automatic the passage through the zero of the graduation during each modification in the increasing direction of the temperature regulation.
Such a device is illustrated for example in FIGS. 9 ot 10 which represent a nonlimiting embodiment of the principle stated above.
In these figures, the button 6 carries a crown of graduations 36 which moves in front of a fixed index 37, provided on a fixed flange 38 surrounding the button 6. This button is made integral with the rod 5 and is connected to the sheet. 39 of the device, of which there. takes place to adjust the temperature, by means of a spiral spring 40 fixed on the one hand to said sheet .39 and on the other hand to a ratchet wheel 41 also integral with the rod 5, a pawl. 42 meshes with the ratchet wheel 41 in the direction of increasing temperatures and in this way maintains button 6 with the number chosen opposite index 37, despite the action of spring 40 which tends to bring button 6 back to its starting position.
: To rotate button 6 in the opposite direction, for example to lower the temperature in the chamber to be heated, all you have to do is push button 6
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
to move it axially against the action of the spring 40. This thrust releases the ratchet wheel 41 from the action of the oliquet 42 and the spring 40 immediately returns the button 6 to its starting position.
The button 6 can then be actuated again in the direction of increasing temperatures, to bring the graduation of the crown 36, corresponding to the desired temperature, opposite the indexa. ,
The same effect of zeros the graduation could also be obtained automatically by means of a cam, solid.
