<EMI ID=2.1>
Suivant l'invention, la chaussure perfectionnée comporte
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>

<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=9.1>

Improvements to shoes and their manufacture.
This invention relates to footwear and their manufacture.
Although mainly applicable to the manufacture of ladies' shoes, the invention is by no means limited thereto. Accordingly, for clarity of the following description, the term "footwear" will be taken in a generic sense to include all articles of shoemaking to which the invention could be applied with advantage.
The object of the present invention is to provide improvements to a shoe comprising a mounted assembly, that is to say a shoe whose upper is mounted and sewn to
<EMI ID = 2.1>
According to the invention, the improved shoe comprises
<EMI ID = 3.1>
a flap which is mounted and sewn, with the upper, to the first, so as to obtain around the shoe a bead or! simulates or represents a welt.
Although it falls within the scope of the invention to form a bead of this kind which extends only around only part of the shoe, for example only around the front, in which case the middle and the rear of the shoe fitted in any customary manner without a bead, the latter preferably extends all around the upper so that the finished article has the appearance of the so-called "platform sole" shoes.
The space between the top and the flap attached thereto is preferably filled or stuffed with a suitable material serving to accentuate the bead and give it the appearance of a ledge projecting vertically from the insole outwardly of the top.
Thus, in the proffered embodiment of the invention, it is the upper edge or surface of the bead which simulates the welt while the peripheral edge exhibits the effect.
of "platform sole".
The flap can be attached to the top in any customary manner. But, depending on the nature of the material of which the flap is made, it can be secured by gluing, although it is preferable to subject it by one or more pioûres.
The flap, moreover, can be made of the same material as the top, or of a material which harmonizes, or contrasts with the top, by color and / and by nature.
<EMI ID = 4.1>
the perfected shoe comprises the following stages: making the upper, attaching to it near the free lower edge, a wide enough strip of suitable material, the inside turned outward, to form a flap, then put together the

comprising a bead as described above, and then applying to the mounted assembly an outer sole.
<EMI ID = 6.1>
cork, leather, or felt, so that when the flap is folded down and secured under the insole, the filling is seated between the top and the flap, not only to stiffen it and give it body, but also to accentuate and enhance the effect produced by the bead.
The invention can be applied to a shoe provided with an outer heel of any usual shape.
However, according to an important feature of the invention, the improved shoe can be provided with an internal heel or incorporated rise, in which case it is advantageous.
to first equip the first with a heel or rise then apply the first and heel assembly on a last, and mount the upper part of the shoe with the flap previously attached so that the heel or rise takes its place in the sand mounted before sliding the form.
In order for the invention to be fully understood and to be able to be put into practice, a particularly illustrative embodiment applied to a lady's shoe will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig.l is a perspective view of the top of the shoe as it appears before assembly on the last and with the flap attached thereto. Fig. 2 is a similar perspective view but with <EMI ID = 7.1>
the flap folded, before mounting on the form.
Fig.? is the perspective view of the finished shoe. Fig.4 is a longitudinal section showing the parts of the shoe necessary for understanding the invention, mounted on the form. <EMI ID = 8.1> sure completed showing more clearly how the flap is attached and mounted.
Like parts are designated by like reference numerals in all the drawings.
In these drawings, the top and the insole are designated 1 and 2, respectively. As shown, the top 1 is unlined, although it can, of course, be doubled if desired. The upper of the shoe is provided with a hard toe 3, and a buttress 4, and is made in any customary way of cut leather blanks, suitably sewn together.
In this particular example, the upper 1 is made so as to be continuous around the shoe.
In accordance with the present invention, a strip of
<EMI ID = 9.1>
approx. 5 cm wide, is applied with the inside out on top 1 and sewn to the top 1 with seams 6.
The band completely surrounds the top, flap-like, with its flesh side out, with the parallel seams 6 arranged near the bottom edge of the band about 1.25 cm or a little more from the edge. lower from above.
As shown in fig.l, the ends 5 <1> of the strip 5 overlap without more.
On the flesh side of strip 5 and so as to completely surround the latter and cover the line of punctures 6 <EMI ID = 10.1>
are given merely as an example and may vary as required.
For clarity, fig.l shows only a piece of the filling strip 7 in solid lines, the remainder of the strip being indicated in chain lines. The insole 2 is made of leather, and as shown in fig. 4, it is prepared in advance by splitting the parts of the arch and the heel so as to form two layers, superimposed and separated 8 and 9 between which is fixed an inner wedge-shaped heel 10, or rise, of cork.
The upper part of the inner heel or upper is hollowed out, and a plate 11 of corresponding shape, made of foam rubber, is housed there and glued, below the split layer 9 of the insole.
Likewise, the lower part of the inner heel 10 is recessed at the rear to receive a piece of appropriately shaped plywood 12, which is covered by the split layer 8 of the insole 2. The insole and heel assembly thus prepared. is then applied on a form such as oue
<EMI ID = 11.1>
At this stage of manufacture, the form 13 is placed in the upper 1 to which is attached the rebate 5 raised as shown in fig.l, then the upper is sewn to the insole. Bisui the filling strip 7 is applied and, after having folded down the flap 5 to cover this strip, the flap in turn is sewn to the insole. In this way, the inner heel
10 is mounted in the shoe before where the last is not removed and the flap 5, the leather side of which is now on the outside, is tightly stretched over the filling strip 7 for a
