<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La figure 1 représente une vue perspective d'un bout de fil porteur perforé; la figure 2 représente une vue schématique d'un élément, transversal à quatre branches,combinê avec le fil perforé de la figure 1; la figure représente en vue perspective une variante d'exécution du dispositif de la figure 2;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
La figure 4 schématise une exécution réduite du dispositif de la figure 3; la figure 5 schématise un bout de fil porteur déformé; les figures 6 et 7 schématisent des éléments transversaux ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Perfected barbed wire".
The present invention relates essentially to barbed wire, that is to say to any kind of fence or defense wire, provided with asperities or projecting elements forming a more or less effective obstacle to the passage of fences and defense elements formed by this material.
The most common manufacture at the present time consists of at least two metallic threads of round section twisted with the interposition of small pieces of thread, wound on themselves and having their projecting ends in opposite directions.
As a result, this manufacture is both quite delicate and requires a large amount of metal wire. On the other hand, the need to be able to twist the two metal wires quite intimately.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
liques require the use of special qualities and reduced diameter.
As a result, these wires are generally easier to cut by compact manual instruments.
The present invention relates to improvements made to this set of yarns, both to make them more efficient and to considerably reduce the length of yarn required for its manufacture.
Substantially, the improvements, object of the invention, aim to use as support a single metal wire of suitable thickness, to which are secured small metal elements with multiple branches arranged transversely and in variable directions. The joining is effected by deformation of these transverse tapered elements on the previously deformed or perforated parts of the carrier wire.
According to one embodiment, the carrier wire will present from place to place small deformations which will aim to prevent the transverse elements from moving transversely or by rotation. The same result can, according to another embodiment, be obtained by inserting the transverse elements into appropriate eyelets or perforations of the carrier wire.
We can obviously use any other industrial means for the same purpose. @
Exemplary embodiments are described in more detail below and shown schematically in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a piece of perforated carrier wire; FIG. 2 represents a schematic view of an element, transverse to four branches, combined with the perforated wire of FIG. 1; the figure shows in perspective view an alternative embodiment of the device of Figure 2;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
FIG. 4 shows schematically a reduced embodiment of the device of FIG. 3; FIG. 5 is a diagram of a piece of deformed carrier wire; Figures 6 and 7 schematically cross elements;
FIG. 8 is a diagrammatic perspective of the combination of the elements of FIGS. 5 and 6.
According to Figures 1 to 4, the carrier wire 1 of section J generally round, is from place to place, provided with eyelets, formed in the manner indicated above or by any other means.
In these eyelets are introduced metal elements 3 having branches, which are, at the end of manufacture, deformed in different directions, so as to have tapered parts in any direction. The fixing can be completed by twisting the elements 3, or even pulling on the wire 1 or, finally, crushing the branches 1 '1 ".
The. The wire thus produced can be protected against oxidation by current methods. Or, the wire 1 will be galvanized after the making of the eyelets 3¯ and the small metal elements 3. will also be galvanized before their insertion in the eyelets ?. or else, the wire will be galvanized beforehand after manufacture, the galvanization also cooperating to fix the small elements 3 in the eyelets 2. Any other means of preservation can also be used and, in general, we can treat this wire perfected by all the means currently known in the barbed wire industry.
The initial wire 1 could obviously have any other shape than a round section and be, for example, oval, polygonal or other. Likewise, the metal elements with multiple branches 3 could be constituted by several independent elements, introduced simultaneously into the eyelets. Or again, these elements can be formed by ends of metal wire, duly profiled and wound.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Obviously, the making of the eyelets, the introduction and the deformation of the elements 3 constitute operations preferably carried out in a fully automatic manner. The metal elements 3 could moreover be manufactured in advance, or else be cut and deformed only after being introduced into the eyelet 2. It is in fact possible to imagine using a strip wound on a coil, the strip of which the end would be automatically introduced into the successive eyelets 2. Once the end of this strip has been introduced into the eyelet, it would be subjected to a die which would cut and almost instantly deform the elements 3 which would be at the same time or by a subsequent operation deformed by a pressure force between two reciprocating jaws or in any other way.
It will be noted that in Figures 1 and 2 the perforation is due to the spacing of the transversely sectioned carrier wire.
It is obviously possible to bring back the two separated branches after having introduced the transverse elements 3. In fact, according to the diagram of FIG. 3, these two branches have been brought back so as to reform the continuous wire in a way. The fixing of the transverse elements 3 has also been reinforced by the additional clamping introduced.
FIGS. 5 to 8 show schematically an alternative embodiment in which the carrier thread, instead of being perforated, is simply deformed. ] The purpose of these deformations appearing in the form of small bridges 4, is to form a stop preventing any movement of the transverse elements 3, either along the carrying wire, or by rotation around it.
In this embodiment, the transverse elements 5 are simply applied against the carrier wire to the right of the deformations and the branches are bent staggered so as to surround the carrier wire. Fixing is instantaneous.
According to the initial shape of the transverse elements 3, one
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
can obtain a greater or lesser number of tapered branches, the profile of which can also be modified accordingly.
The local deformations of the carrier wire 1 can also be single or multiple and be carried out according to a variable profile.
By means of these two embodiments, given by way of example, it will be understood that the manufacture of this barbed wire with a single carrier wire is extremely simple and can be carried out automatically, that is to say. that is to say fast and economical.
The cross section of the wire, the shape of the deformations or of the blinders as well as the profile of the tapered transverse elements are essentially variable and can be modified infinitely, without departing from the scope of the invention.
CLAIMS.
