<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Method for tying a bundle; ball of rope, in particular used for the implementation of this method."
The present invention relates to a method for binding a bundle, according to which the material is pressed, which is to form the bundle, between two substantially parallel frames, at least one groove being provided in each of the frames, the opening of this groove being on the bale side, the bundle is surrounded with a tie which is guided by the walls of the aforementioned grooves, the two ends of the tie are then connected and the pressure exerted on the bundle is reduced.
According to known methods of this type, annealed iron wires are used to bind the bales. the object of the present invention is to replace these wires with a more economical link.
On the other hand, the wire used to tie bales of hay, straw, etc. presents a serious danger to livestock.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the invention is also to remedy this drawback.
@ these effects a string is used as a link, which is passed successively through the two grooves by means of a member such as a needle whose length exceeds that of the groove.
The invention also makes it possible to obtain the same results according to a further improvement to the known methods.
For this purpose a string is used as a link, this string being put in advance in the two grooves of the frames so that the two ends of the string are located outside the grooves on the same side with respect to the bale.
The invention also relates to the objects for the implementation of this method.
It relates in particular to a ball of rope. This rope has eyelets, the distance between two successive eyelets remaining substantially the same over the entire length of the rope.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of different embodiments of a method for tying a bundle and of a ball of rope, in particular used for the implementation of this method, given Born below by way of non-limiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a frame used in the method according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a cord according to the invention. FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a needle used in the method according to the invention.
To tie bales of hay, straw, wood fibers, flax, etc., a high pressure baler is often used.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
By means of this press, the material which is to form a bundle is pressed between two frames 1. Each of these frames 1 has two grooves 2. The link is guided between the aforesaid material and the walls of the grooves. The bundle is surrounded with this link. For this purpose, the link is introduced into a groove, it is made to pass through this groove and it is then made to enter a groove of a second frame parallel to the first. The link is then passed through the groove mentioned last and, finally, the two ends of the link are connected.
It is not essential that each of the frames have two grooves. However, two: grooves are provided to be able to surround the bundle with two links. Each of the frames could also have one, three or more grooves.
The two ends of the links being connected, the pressure exerted on the material is reduced, so that the bundle expands. The bundle is then tightened by the ties.
It should be noted that the aforesaid frames are generally referred to as "needles". This expression has been avoided in this text because it is confusing with the needles described below.
According to known methods, the links are made of iron wires, generally annealed iron.
As stated above, the use of iron is quite expensive; on the other hand, the use of wire presents a serious danger to the cattle, where it is applied to bales of hay or straw.
It was always believed that it was impossible to replace the wire by a string, the groove being completely stuffed with pressed material. It is often difficult to pass a wire through these grooves. We therefore believed that it was impossible to pass a string through it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
According to the present invention, a needle 3 is used to pass the string through the groove. However, according to another method also according to the invention, the string is introduced into the grooves before the material, intended to form the bundle, accumulates between the aforesaid frames, The string then preferably has an eyelet 4 at one end. its ends. The string is then retained at this eyelet by one end 5 of the part of the frame which has the groove.
Apart from the economic advantages, the twine is easier to handle and less bulky than iron.
If you use a ball of rope, cutting this rope into strings of the desired length, prior to use, risks losing a large quantity of strings. In fact, the strings will be either too long or too short. If no means of remedying this drawback are provided, the method becomes very expensive and impractical.
According to the invention, either a bundle of twine having an eyelet and being sold at the desired length, or a ball of cord having eyelets, the distance between two eyelets being equal to that which is necessary to form an eyelet is used. suitable link.
When using a ball of rope, this rope is cut into pieces during the implementation of the method, the cutting preferably taking place immediately before the introduction of the twine into the grooves.
By using the aforementioned ball, part of the cord of which is shown in FIG. 3, any entanglement and any loss of time by measurement, as well as any loss of string, are avoided.
It should also be noted that the ball according to the invention can also be used for other applications.

than those described above,
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described above and that many modifications can be made to it, in particular as regards the form, the constitution, the arrangement and the number of the elements involved. in its implementation, sant to depart from the scope of the present patent application, provided that these changes are compatible with the spirit of the claims set out below, CLAIMS.
