Fig. 3 est une vue en bout de la Fig. 2, et

"IMPROVEMENTS IN REINFORCEMENTS FOR CONCRETE CONSTRUCTIONS"
The object of the invention is an improvement or a variant of the process for manufacturing metal reinforcement elements as described in the previous patent by the same inventors, filed July 19, 1928, N Ct 278,441 and consists in shearing the strip. of metal intended to constitute a reinforcing element, so that there is practically no loss of metal due to the formation of the gaps between the teeth, and to consolidate the core or central part of the element twisted by the process described below.
According to the present invention, a metal strip of suitable width is zigzagged from one end to the other, leaving on each edge of the strip a selvage or @
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
solid core supporting the teeth formed by zigzag shearing. The two edges are subsequently juxtaposed in such a way that the teeth alternate with each other, the whole is then twisted to constitute a reinforcement element as described in the aforementioned patent application, but with the advantage that the core or central part of the element is reddue more rigid by the superposition of the two edges mentioned above.
With reference to the accompanying drawings:
Fig. 1 shows a strip of metal on which is practiced a preferred mode of zigzag shearing, so as to produce the teeth and the gaps constituting the reinforcing member.
Fig. 2 is a detail view of the strip cut in two places, as shown in FIG. 1 and whose edges or souls of each of the elements have been juxtaposed.
Fig. 3 is an end view of FIG. 2, and
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a pair of elements twisted together and in which the central portion or core is considerably reinforced.
Referring to Fig. 1, and considering the metal strip a, it can be seen that two elements as shown in FIG. 3 of the drawing appended to the previous patent application, are obtained, without it being necessary to punch the gaps c between the teeth b.
It should also be noted that the strip will be divided into two parts by the zigzag cutting, each of the parts having an edge or edge a1 or a2 by which the teeth b are supported. The two elements formed from the single strip are then assembled as shown in FIG. 2 and 3, after which they are twisted, in a manner analogous to that @

described in the aforementioned prior patent application, so that the element takes a shape similar to that shown in FIG. 4.
