Abstract

Se proporciona una célula microbiana para producir por lo menos un éster de ácido carboxílico w-funcionalizado a partir de por lo menos un alcano, donde la célula es modificada genéticamente para incrementar la expresión con relación a la célula del tipo salvaje de (i) Enzima E₁ capaz de convertir el alcano en el correspondiente 1-alcanol; (ii) Enzima E₂ capaz de convertir el 1-alcanol de (i) en el correspondiente 1-alcanal; (iii) Enzima E₃ capaz de convertir el 1-alcanal de (ii) en el correspondiente ácido alcanoico; (iv) Enzima E₄ capaz de convertir el ácido alcanoico de (iii) en el correspondiente éster de ácido alcanoico; y (iv) Enzima E₅ capaz de convertir el éster de ácido alcanoico de (iv) en el correspondiente éster de ácido w-hidroxi-alcanoico, y donde la célula no comprende una modificación genética que incrementa la expresión con relación a la célula del tipo salvaje de por lo menos una de las siguientes enzimas E₂₀ - E₂₄ seleccionadas del grupo que consiste en: E₂₀ Acil-ACP tioesterasa, de EC 3.1.2.14 o EC 3.1.2.22, E₂₁ Acil-CoA tioesterasa, de EC 3.1.2.2, EC 3.1.2.18, EC 3.1.2.19, EC 3.1.2.20 o EC 3.1.2.22, E₂₂ Acil-CoA:ACP transacilasa, E₂₃ Poliquétido sintasa, y E₂₄ Sintasa de ácido hexanoico.
