Abstract

Un horno para el reformado al vapor de agua, (F), tiene una pluralidad de tubos reformadores, (T), sustancialmente verticales. Cada uno de los tubos reformadores (T) tiene una entrada de alimentación, (P), en su extremidad inferior, una salida en su extremidad superior, y una zona para la contención del catalizador dispuesta en una posición intermedia entre sus extremidades superior e inferior y que contiene una carga de un catalizador (C) para el reformado al vapor, en forma de partículas, lo cual no es suficiente para llenar por completo la zona de contención del catalizador. Hay un medio de retención superior, (3), montado en la extremidad superior de la zona de contención del catalizador y que es permeable al paso de los gases o vapores pero retiene las partículas del catalizador (C) en la zona de contención del catalizador. Hay un medio seguidor (4; 24) montado, de manera de poder moverse, en la zona de contención del catalizador, por debajo de la carga del catalizador (C) para su movimiento ascendente desde una extremidad inferior de la zona de contención al tener lugar el flujo ascendente del gas a través de la zona de contención del catalizador con un caudal superior a un caudal-umbral. Una mezcla reactiva que comprende la materia prima-hidrocarburo y vapor de agua fluye hacia arriba a través de cada uno de los tubos reformadores (T) con un caudal de flujo que es suficiente para hacer que el catalizador (C) en cada uno de los tubos reformadores (T) se eleve y forma un colchón de catalizador (C) contra el lado inferior del medio de retención superior (3) en su tubo reformador (T) y que superior al caudal-umbral de manera de hacer que el medio seguidor (4; 24) presente en el tubo reformador (T) se mueva hacia arriba hasta hacer tope contra el lado inferior del colchón de catalizador (C) en su tubo reformador (T). Los tubos reformadores (T) son calefaccionados externamente mediante el horno de reformado al vapor, (F), de manera de mantener condiciones de reformado al vapor en cada uno de los tubos de la pluralidad de tubos reformadores (T) y convertir la materia prima-hidrocarburo haciéndola reaccionar con vapor a agua de manera de formar una mezcla gaseosa reformada que comprende óxidos de carbono e hidrógeno.
