Abstract

Se revela un proceso que se puede usar en un proceso de esterificacion y policondensacion para producir un poliéster tal como, por ejemplo, poli(trimetilentereftalato). El proceso comprende poner en contacto un ácido con 1,3-propanodiol en presenciade un catalizador que comprende estano y titanio.También se revela un copolímero que contiene hasta 20 mol por ciento de otro ácido y/o un segundo alcohol. Asimismo se revelan una composicion de o quecomprende un prepolímero de bi(3-hidroxipropil)tereftalato o una composicion de o que comprende un polímero de poli(trimetilentereftalato). El prepolímero debi(3-hidroxipropil)tereftalato y el polímero de poli(trimetilentereftalato) pueden contener cada uno de 10 a 100 ppm de estano y de 10 a 200 ppm de titanio, enrelacion con el contenido de ácido tereftálico.
