Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una coquilla para la colada contínua de metales, preferentemente acero, del tipo que comprende una cámara hueca deconformado abierta por dos caras mutuamente opuestas, siendo la sección transversal de lacá mara hueca mayor por el extremo de entrada de colada que enel extremo de salida de la barra colada. Para lograr una mayor capacidad de colada y obtener mediante una distribución de temperatura más uniforme a travésde toda la seccióntransversal d e colada una mejor calidad de barra colada, se ha conformado a la cámara hueca de conformado de la coquilla en variasporciones cónicas y habiéndose provisto la superficie exterior del lado de enfriamiento, opuesta con respecto ala cámara hueca de conformado de lacoquilla, con al menos un área que presenta coeficientes de transmisión de calor más elevados. La superficie exterior del lado de enfriamiento presentapreferentemente en el área del espejo de bano fundido dela coquilla una estructura de rugosidad incrementada que ocupa una porción de la superficie, lacual se ahusa en la dirección de colada.
