Description
본 개시는 생분해성 폴리에스테르 수지 비드 및 이의 제조 방법에 관한 것이다.
폴리에스테르(polyester) 수지는 주쇄(main chain)에 에스터(ester, RO-C(=O)-R') 작용기를 가지는 고분자 수지를 말하며, 여러 산업 분야에서 포장용, 디스플레이용, 절연 재료용 등의 다양한 용도로 사용되고 있다.
그 대표적인 예로는, 테레프탈산(terephthalic acid, TPA)과 에틸렌 글리콜(ethylene glycol, EG)의 반응에 의해 제조되는, 폴리에틸렌 테레프탈레이트(polyethylene terephthalate (PET)) 수지를 들 수 있다.
다만, 테레프탈산의 주원료는 파라자일렌이며, 이는 원유를 정제하여 제조되는 것이다. 이에, 테레프탈산의 제조 및 사용은 원유 자원 고갈을 유발한다. 또한, 테레프탈산의 분해 시, 이산화탄소 배출량이 증가하여, 환경 오염을 유발하며, 온난화 등 기후 변화를 초래할 수 있다.
이와 관련하여, 폴리에스테르 수지 제조 시, 테레프탈산을 2,5-퓨란 디카르복실산(2,5-Furandicarboxylic acid, FDCA)으로 대체하려는 시도가 이어지고 있다. 여기서, 퓨란 디카르복실산은 바이오매스로부터 유래한 소재로서 원유 자원 고갈을 방지하고, 그 생분해성에 기인하여 환경 오염, 기후 변화 등을 최소화할 수 있다.
테레프탈산을 2,5-퓨란 디카르복실산(2,5-Furandicarboxylic acid, FDCA)으로 대체하여 제조된 폴리에스테르 수지는 친환경 이슈에 따른 니즈를 충족시키면서 기존 산업 분야에서 사용되는 다양한 수지들을 대체하여 여러 제품 등에 활용될 수 있다.
일 실시예에 따르면, 생분해가 가능하기 때문에 실리콘 비드가 적용된 대부분의 산업자재 및 생활용품 등에 적용 가능한 폴리에스테르 수지 비드를 제공한다.
다른 실시예에 따르면, 생분해가 가능하기 때문에 실리콘 비드가 적용된 대부분의 산업자재 및 생활용품 등에 적용 가능한 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법을 제공한다.
일 실시예에 따른 폴리에스테르 수지 비드는 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복 단위를 포함한다.

화학식 1에서, A11 및 A12는 각각 독립적으로 단일결합, 또는 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 1 내지 15의 2가 지방족 탄화수소기이고, R11은 할로겐기, 하이드록시기, 알콕시기, 또는 알킬기이고, n11은 반복 단위의 몰비이며, n12는 0 내지 2의 정수이다.
상기 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 종횡비는 0.7 내지 1.3일 수 있다.
상기 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 평균 입도(D50)는 30㎛ 내지 60㎛일 수 있다.
상기 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 평균 입자 직경은 30㎛ 내지 50㎛일 수 있다.
상기 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 중량평균분자량은 3,000 g/mol 내지 10,000 g/mol일 수 있다.
상기 화학식 1의 A11 및 A12는 각각 독립적으로 단일결합, 또는 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 1 내지 10의 알킬렌기일 수 있다.
다른 실시예에 따른 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법은 반응기 내에서 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물을 포함하는 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물, 지방족 디올계 화합물 및 경화제를 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 5 내지 10의 탄화수소계 용매에 첨가하고 상온에서 교반하는 단계; 반응기의 온도를 40℃ 내지 120℃로 올리면서 10분 내지 10시간 동안 반응시켜 올리고머를 제조하는 에스테르화 반응 단계; 반응기의 온도를 5℃ 내지 상온으로 낮춘 후 안정제를 투입하여 30분 내지 180분 동안 반응시켜 상기 올리고머를 비드화하는 단계; 그리고 상기 올리고머 비드를 포함하는 용액을 필터 및 건조하여 올리고머 비드를 수득하는 단계를 포함한다.
또 다른 실시예에 따른 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법은 Round-flask 반응기와 Dean-Stark 장비가 구비된 고온 중합 장비 내에 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물을 포함하는 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물, 지방족 디올계 화합물 및 경화제를 첨가하고 40℃ 내지 120℃에서 10분 내지 10시간 동안 반응시켜 올리고머를 제조하는 에스테르화 반응 단계; 또 다른 반응기에 안정제 및 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 5 내지 10의 탄화수소계 용매를 첨가하고 5,000 내지 10,000 rpm의 속도로 교반하면서 상기 제조된 올리고머를 첨가한 후, 계속 교반하면서 반응기의 온도를 5℃ 내지 상온으로 낮추어 상기 올리고머를 비드화하는 단계; 그리고 상기 올리고머 비드를 포함하는 용액을 필터 및 건조하여 올리고머 비드를 수득하는 단계를 포함한다.
상기 에스테르화 반응 단계는 100rpm 내지 1,000rpm의 속도로 수행될 수 있다.
상기 건조는 10 Torr 이하의 압력 및 70℃ 내지 100℃의 온도에서 500분 내지 800분 동안 수행될 수 있다.
상기 비드화 단계는 30분 내지 180분 동안 1,000rpm 내지 10,000rpm의 교반 속도로 수행될 수 있다.
상기 안정제는 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물을 포함하는 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물, 지방족 디올계 화합물, 안정제 및 경화제의 총 중량에 대하여 0.01 내지 1.00 중량%로 첨가될 수 있다.
상기 에스테르화 반응 단계 중 상기 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물을 포함하는 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물과, 상기 지방족 디올계 화합물의 몰비는 1 : 1.2 내지 1 : 5.0일 수 있다.
상기 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 5 내지 10의 탄화수소계 용매는 n-헥산, n-헵탄, n-도데칸 또는 이들의 혼합물일 수 있다.
상기 안정제는 폴리비닐 알코올, 폴리비닐 피롤리돈, 소듐 도데실벤젠 술포네이트(Sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate) 또는 이들의 혼합물일 수 있다.
상기 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물은 하기 화학식 2로 표시되는 화합물일 수 있다.

일 실시예에 따른 폴리에스테르 수지 비드는 저분자 비드 형태이며, 생분해가 가능하기 때문에 기존 산업 분야에서 실리콘 비드가 적용된 대부분의 제품 등에 적용 가능하다.

또 다른 일 실시예에 따른 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법은 Round-flask 반응기와 Dean-Stark 장비가 구비된 고온 중합 장비 내에 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물을 포함하는 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물; 지방족 디올계 화합물; 및 경화제를 첨가하고 40℃ 내지 120℃에서 10분 내지 10시간 동안 반응시켜 올리고머를 제조하는 에스테르화 반응 단계; 또 다른 반응기에 안정제 및 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 5 내지 10의 탄화수소계 용매를 첨가하고 5,000 내지 1,0000 rpm의 속도로 교반하면서 상기 제조된 올리고머를 첨가한 후, 계속 교반하면서 반응기의 온도를 5℃ 내지 상온으로 낮추어 상기 올리고머를 비드화하는 단계; 그리고 상기 올리고머 비드를 포함하는 용액을 필터 및 건조하여 올리고머 비드를 수득하는 단계를 포함한다.
상기 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법은 폴리에스테르 수지가 용해되지 않는 용매, 즉 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 5 내지 10의 탄화수소계 용매에서 제조됨으로써 버블을 형성하여 입자 사이즈가 조절된 폴리에스테르 수지 비드를 제조할 수 있다.

일 예로, 지방족 디올계 화합물은 탄소수 2 내지 20, 예를 들어 탄소수 2 내지 12의 지방족 디올계 화합물을 포함할 수 있다. 이러한 지방족 디올계 화합물의 예로는, 에틸렌글리콜, 디에틸렌글리콜, 트리에틸렌글리콜, 프로판디올(1,2-프로판디올, 1,3-프로판디올 등), 1,4-부탄디올, 펜탄디올, 헥산디올(1,6-헥산디올 등), 네오펜틸 글리콜(2,2-디메틸-1,3-프로판디올), 1,2-사이클로헥산디올, 1,4-사이클로헥산디올, 1,2-사이클로헥산디메탄올, 1,3-사이클로헥산디메탄올, 1,4-사이클로헥산디메탄올, 테트라메틸사이클로부탄디올 등의 선형, 가지형 또는 고리형 지방족 디올 성분을 들 수 있다.
특히, 지방족 디올계 화합물은 에틸렌 글리콜 또는 1,4-부탄디올일 수 있다. 이 경우, 화학식 4에서, A31은 C2 알킬렌(즉, 에틸렌) 또는 C4 알킬렌(즉, 부틸렌)일 수 있다.
에스테르화 반응 단계는 배치(batch)식 또는 연속식으로 수행될 수 있다.
필요에 따라 올리고머를 예비 중합시키는, 예비 중합 단계, 및 예비 중합된 중합체를 중축합 반응시키는, 중축합 단계를 더욱 포함할 수 있다.
이하, 본 발명의 실시예를 참조하여 설명하지만, 하기 실시예는 본 발명을 예시하기 위한 것이며, 본 발명의 범주가 이들만으로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
[제조예: 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조]
(실시예 1)
1L 3구 둥근 바닥 플라스크에 n-헥산을 500ml 투입하여 50℃로 가열하여 준비해둔다. 이때, 안정제 (소듐 도데실벤젠 술포네이트, 0.2 중량%)를 미리 투입하여 용해한다. 다른 쪽에서 500mL 등근 바닥 플라스크에 미리 제조한 구형의 2,5-퓨란 디카르복실산(2,5-furandicarboxylic acid, FDCA, 종횡비 1:1, 평균 입도(D50): 41㎛)과 에틸렌글리콜 (Ethylene glycol, EG)를 몰비 1:1.4, 중량비 64.2 : 35.4의 비율로 투입하고, 경화제 (에폭시 수지, 0.2 중량%)를 투입한 후 120℃로 가열하여 에스테르화를 진행하여 올리고머를 형성한다. 이후, 에스테르화 반응이 완료되어 Clear point가 도달하여 올리고머가 투명한 상태가 되면 이를 미리 준비해 둔 n-헥산에 투입한다. 이때, n-헥산은 6,000rpm 이상의 교반 속도를 유지하도록 한다. 투입이 완료된 이후 2시간 이상 교반을 유지하며 실온으로 자연 냉각을 진행한다. 교반이 끝나면 여과하여 진공 오븐을 이용하여 건조하여 올리고머 비드를 수득한다.
(실시예 2)
상기 구형의 2,5-퓨란 디카르복실산 및 상기 에틸렌글리콜의 조성을 아래 표 1과 같이 변경한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일하게 실시하여 폴리에스테르 수지를 수득한다.
(비교예 1)
상기 구형의 2,5-퓨란 디카르복실산을 파우더 타입의 판상형 2,5-퓨란 디카르복실산으로 변경한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일하게 실시하여 폴리에스테르 수지를 수득한다.
(비교예 2)
아래 표 1에서와 같이 경화제 및 안정제 사용을 배제한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일하게 실시하여 폴리에스테르 수지를 수득한다.
(비교예 3)
아래 표 1에서와 같이 경화제 및 안정제 사용을 배제한 것을 제외하고는 비교예 1과 동일하게 실시하여 폴리에스테르 수지를 수득한다.

평가 1: 입도분포 및 평균 입자 직경
실시예 1, 실시예 2, 및 비교예 1 내지 비교예 3에 따른 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 입도분포를 측정하고, 그 결과를 하기 표 2 및 도 1 내지 도 5에 나타내었다.
입도분포 측정
상기 입도분포는 Microtrac社의 bluewave로 측정하였다.
합성된 올리고머 비드 1g을 물 10g과 혼합한 뒤 sonication에 10분 동안 분산시킨다. 이 분산액을 Micritrac社의 bluewave의 투입구에 넣고 측정한다.
평균 입자 직경 측정
상기 평균 입자 직경은 Hund社의 Wilovert 30으로 측정하였다.
합성된 올리고머 비드 1g을 물 10g과 혼합한 뒤 sonication에 10분 동안 분산시킨다. 이 분산액을 슬라이드 글라스에 한 방울 떨어뜨리고 커버 글라스로 덮은 뒤 Hund社의 Wilovert 30으로 측정한다.
평가 2: 형상
주사전자현미경(SEM)을 이용하여 실시예 1, 실시예 2, 및 비교예 1 내지 비교예 3의 입자모양을 관찰하여, 그 결과를 하기 표 2 및 도 1 내지 도 5에 나타내었다.

상기 표 2 및 도 1 내지 도 5를 보면, 실시예에 따른 폴리에스테르 수지 비드는 구형으로 입도 분포가 규칙적이며 모두 30㎛ 내지 60㎛의 평균 입도(D50)를 가지나, 비교예 1 내지 3에 따른 폴리에스테르 수지는 불규칙 각형 또는 판상형의 구조를 가지기에 입도 분포가 불규칙함을 확인할 수 있다.
이상에서 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예들에 대하여 상세하게 설명하였지만 본 발명의 권리 범위는 이에 한정되는 것은 아니고 다음의 청구 범위에서 정의하고 있는 본 발명의 기본 개념을 이용한 당업자의 여러 변형 및 개량 형태 또한 본 발명의 권리 범위에 속하는 것이다.
Claims (21)
- 제1항에서,상기 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 종횡비는 0.7 내지 1.3인, 폴리에스테르 수지 비드.
- 제1항에서,상기 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 평균 입도(D50)는 30㎛ 내지 60㎛인, 폴리에스테르 수지 비드.
- 제1항에서,상기 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 평균 입자 직경은 30㎛ 내지 60㎛인, 폴리에스테르 수지 비드.
- 제1항에서,상기 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 중량평균분자량은 3,000 g/mol 내지 10,000 g/mol 인, 폴리에스테르 수지 비드.
- 제1항에서,상기 화학식 1의 A11 및 A12는 각각 독립적으로 단일결합, 또는 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 1 내지 10의 알킬렌기인 폴리에스테르 수지 비드.
- 반응기 내에서 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물을 포함하는 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물, 지방족 디올계 화합물 및 경화제를 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 5 내지 10의 탄화수소계 용매에 첨가하고 상온에서 교반하는 단계;반응기의 온도를 40℃ 내지 120℃로 올리면서 10분 내지 10시간 동안 반응시켜 올리고머를 제조하는 에스테르화 반응 단계;반응기의 온도를 5℃ 내지 상온으로 낮춘 후 안정제를 투입하여 30분 내지 180분 동안 반응시켜 상기 올리고머를 비드화하는 단계; 그리고상기 올리고머 비드를 포함하는 용액을 필터 및 건조하여 올리고머 비드를 수득하는 단계를 포함하는 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법.
- Round-flask 반응기와 Dean-Stark 장비가 구비된 고온 중합 장비 내에 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물을 포함하는 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물, 지방족 디올계 화합물 및 경화제를 첨가하고 40℃ 내지 120℃에서 10분 내지 10시간 동안 반응시켜 올리고머를 제조하는 에스테르화 반응 단계;또 다른 반응기에 안정제 및 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 5 내지 10의 탄화수소계 용매를 첨가하고 5,000 내지 10,000 rpm의 속도로 교반하면서 상기 제조된 올리고머를 첨가한 후, 계속 교반하면서 반응기의 온도를 5℃ 내지 상온으로 낮추어 상기 올리고머를 비드화하는 단계; 그리고상기 올리고머 비드를 포함하는 용액을 필터 및 건조하여 올리고머 비드를 수득하는 단계를 포함하는 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법.
- 제7항 또는 제8항에서,상기 에스테르화 반응 단계는 100rpm 내지 1,000rpm의 속도로 수행되는 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조방법.
- 제7항 또는 제8항에서,상기 건조는 10 Torr 이하의 압력 및 70℃ 내지 100℃의 온도에서 500분 내지 800분 동안 수행되는 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법.
- 제7항 또는 제8항에서,상기 비드화 단계는 30분 내지 180분 동안 1,000rpm 내지 10,000rpm의 교반 속도로 수행되는 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조방법.
- 제7항 또는 제8항에서,상기 안정제는 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물을 포함하는 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물, 지방족 디올계 화합물, 안정제 및 경화제의 총 중량에 대하여 0.01 내지 1.00 중량%로 첨가되는, 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법.
- 제7항 또는 제8항에서,상기 에스테르화 반응 단계 중 상기 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물을 포함하는 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물과, 상기 지방족 디올계 화합물의 몰비는 1 : 1.2 내지 1 : 5.0인, 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법.
- 제7항 또는 제8항에서,상기 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 탄소수 5 내지 10의 탄화수소계 용매는 n-헥산, n-헵탄, n-도데칸 또는 이들의 혼합물인 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조방법.
- 제7항 또는 제8항에서,상기 안정제는 폴리비닐 알코올, 폴리비닐 피롤리돈, 소듐 도데실벤젠 술포네이트 또는 이들의 혼합물인 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조방법.
- 제7항 또는 제8항에서,상기 퓨란 디카르복실산계 화합물의 종횡비는 1:1 내지 3:1이고,평균 입도(D50)는 1 내지 200㎛인, 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법.
- 제7항 또는 제8항에서,상기 방향족 디카르복실산계 화합물은 지방족 디카르복실산계 화합물, 이소프탈산, 테레프탈산, 나프탈렌디카르복실산, 디페닐 디카르복실산, 4,4'-스틸벤디카르복실산, 2,5-티오펜디카르복실산, 또는 이들의 혼합물을 더 포함하고,상기 지방족 디올계 화합물은 에틸렌글리콜, 디에틸렌글리콜, 트리에틸렌글리콜, 프로판디올(1,2-프로판디올, 1,3-프로판디올 등), 1,4-부탄디올, 펜탄디올, 헥산디올(1,6-헥산디올 등), 네오펜틸 글리콜(2,2-디메틸-1,3-프로판디올), 1,2-사이클로헥산디올, 1,4-사이클로헥산디올, 1,2-사이클로헥산디메탄올, 1,3-사이클로헥산디메탄올, 1,4-사이클로헥산디메탄올, 테트라메틸사이클로부탄디올, 또는 이들의 혼합물을 포함하는,폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법.
- 제18항에서,상기 지방족 디카르복실산계 화합물은 말론산, 숙신산, 글루타르산, 2-메틸글루타르산, 3-메틸글루타르산, 아디프산, 피멜산, 수베르산, 아젤라산, 세바스산, 운데칸디산, 도데칸디산, 브라실산, 테트라데칸디산, 푸마르산, 2,2-디메틸글루타르산, 수베르산, 말레산, 이타콘산, 말레산, 또는 이들의 혼합물을 포함하는 것인, 폴리에스테르 수지 비드의 제조 방법.
