Abstract
본 발명은 유기질 재료 건조 공정 중 탄화 조기 감지방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 방법은 유기질 재료의 열분해에 의해 발생되는 물(H2O), 일산화탄소(CO) 또는 이산화탄소(CO2)를 포함하는 배기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량, 배기 중의 일산화탄소/이산화탄소의 발생 농도를 측정하여 이를 탄화 발생으로 판단함으로써 건조기 내의 탄화를 조기 감지할 수 있다.
Description
본 출원은 2017년 6월 23일자로 출원된 대한민국 특허출원 제10-2017-0079445호에 기초한 우선권의 이익을 주장하며, 해당 대한민국 특허출원의 문헌에 개시된 모든 내용은 본 명세서의 일부로서 포함된다.
본 발명은 유기질 재료 제품의 합성 후 건조기 내에서의 건조 공정 중 탄화에 의한 화재 등 안전사고 예방을 위한 탄화 현상의 조기 감지방법에 관한 것이다.
현재 생산되고 있는 유기질 재료 제품, 예를 들어, 입자계 기초 소재 제품 등의 경우, 합성, 탈수 등의 공정을 거쳐 건조기에서 건조되며, 건조 과정에서 사용되는 열풍의 온도 및 풍속을 제어함으로써 사양에 맞는 제품을 생산하고 있다.
제어 가능한 여러 건조 인자 중 높은 열풍 온도를 사용할수록 제품 품질(잔류 용매 저감 측면) 및 생산량 증대에는 유리하지만, 제품 품질 및 안전상의 이유로 일정 수준 이하의 열풍 온도에서 건조된다. 그럼에도 불구하고 건조기 내 탄화 사고가 지속적으로 보고되고 있기 때문에 탄화 가능성은 항상 잠재되어 있고 이는 큰 화재 사고로 연결될 가능성이 높기 때문에 안전성 및 생산성 문제가 발생할 수 있다.
대부분의 탄화 현상의 원인은 불명확하므로 탄화의 조기 감지를 통한 예방이 최선책인데, 현재는 건조기에서 방출되는 배기 온도를 확인하거나 탄화 발생 시에 작업자가 직접 냄새를 맡아 탄화를 감지하는 것이 일반적이다. 그러나, 이러한 방식은 탄화 발생 시점을 감지하는 데에 부정확하며 안전사고가 일어날 수도 있으므로 이를 개선할 필요가 있다. 이에, 보다 정확하게 탄화 발생 시점을 감지할 수 있는 방법이 지속적으로 요구되었고, 본 발명자들은 배기 온도 상승, 일산화탄소/이산화탄소 농도 상승 등을 이용하여 탄화 현상을 조기에 감지할 수 있는 방법을 밝혀냈다.
본 발명은 기존 유기질 재료 제품의 합성 후 사용되는 건조기 내 건조 공정 진행 중 탄화에 의한 화재 등 안전사고 예방을 위한 탄화 현상 조기 감지방법을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
상기 목적을 달성하기 위해, 본 발명은 열풍 및 열수를 사용하는 건조기 내부의 불명확한 원인에 의한 안전사고 예방을 위한 배기 온도 및 일산화탄소/이산화탄소 농도 감지방법을 제공한다.
유기질 재료 제품은 합성, 탈수 등의 공정을 거친 후 건조기에서 열풍에 의해 건조되는데, 유기질 재료가 가열되면 열분해에 의해 물(H2O), 일산화탄소(CO), 이산화탄소(CO2) 등이 방출되고, 이 과정에서 발열반응이 수반되어 온도가 상승하게 되는데 이는 배기 온도 상승의 원인이 된다.
본 발명에서는 상기 탄화 현상 시 발생하는 발열반응에 따른 배기 온도 상승 및/또는 일산화탄소/이산화탄소 발생 농도 등을 측정하여 탄화 현상을 조기에 감지할 수 있는 방법을 제공한다. 본 발명에서는 실제 현장 탄화와 비슷한 조건에서의 재현 실험실 테스트(Lab Test)를 통해 일산화탄소/이산화탄소 발생 농도를 측정함으로써 탄화 감지 가능성을 분석했으며, 그 가능성을 토대로 실제 적용 사례를 제시한다. 본 발명에 따른 방법으로 유기질 재료를 고온에서 건조시키고 탄화 가능성이 있는 물질을 건조시키는 경우, 탄화 및 화재 예방에 따른 안전성 및 제품 생산성 향상이 기대된다.
본 발명에 따른 감지방법은 다수의 미분으로 인해 건조기 내부 상황을 시각으로 확인하기가 불가능한 상황, 즉 외부에서 냄새 감지 외에 탄화 확인 방법이 없는 상황에 사용되며, 또한 건조기 내부 온도가 높아 가스 농도 측정기를 내부에 설치할 수 없고 배기된 후 싸이클론 등에서 특정 온도 이하로 식은 기체 농도를 통해 측정해야 하는 경우 적용된다.
본 발명은 하나의 실시양태에서,
(1) 유기질 재료를 건조기 내에서 열풍 건조시키는 단계; 및
(2) 상기 건조에 의해 방출되는 물(H2O), 일산화탄소(CO) 또는 이산화탄소(CO2)를 포함하는 배기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량을 탐지하는 단계; 또는
(3) 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도를 탐지하는 단계; 또는
(4) 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도를 탐지하는 단계를 하나 이상 포함하며,
상기 (2) 단계에서 배기 온도가 0.5℃/min 이상으로 상승하는 경우, 또는 상기 (3) 단계에서 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하는 경우, 또는 상기 (4) 단계에서 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단하는, 유기질 재료의 건조 공정 중 탄화의 조기 감지방법을 제공한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 유기질 재료는 직경 500㎛ 이하의 폴리머 입자를 포함한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 유기질 재료의 건조와 탄화가 발생하는 공간은 폴리머 입자를 건조시키기 위해 산업체에서 주로 활용하는 대형(수십 m2) 유동층 건조기(fluidizedbed dryer, FBD: 입자를 유동화시켜 건조시키는 건조기)의 내부이다.
본 발명의 탄화 조기 감지방법은 건조기 배기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량 및/또는 배기 중의 일산화탄소/이산화탄소의 농도 증가를 측정하여 이를 탄화 발생으로 판단함으로써 건조기내의 탄화를 조기 감지할 수 있다.
도 1은 비교예에 따른 탄화 감지방법으로서, 제품 건조 시 건조기 내부 또는 배기 온도를 모니터링하며 미리 특정해 놓은 정상 온도 범위를 벗어나면 탄화 발생으로 판단하는 방법을 나타낸 것이다.
도 2는 본 발명에 따라 단위 시간당 배기 온도 변화량을 모니터링하여 온도 상승량이 일정 값 이상으로 측정될 경우 경고 신호(warning signal)를 작동시켜 탄화 여부를 확인하는 방법을 나타낸 것이다.
이하에서는, 본 발명을 보다 구체적으로 설명하기로 한다.
본 명세서 및 청구범위에 사용된 용어나 단어는 통상적이거나 사전적인 의미로 한정해서 해석되어서는 안되며, 발명자는 그 자신의 발명을 가장 최선의 방법으로 설명하기 위해 용어의 개념을 적절하게 정의할 수 있다는 원칙에 입각하여 본 발명의 기술적 사상에 부합하는 의미와 개념으로 해석되어야만 한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 본 발명의 유기질 재료의 건조 공정 중 탄화의 조기 감지방법은,
(1) 유기질 재료를 건조기 내에서 열풍 건조시키는 단계; 및
(2) 상기 건조에 의해 방출되는 물(H2O), 일산화탄소(CO) 또는 이산화탄소(CO2)를 포함하는 배기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량을 탐지하는 단계; 또는
(3) 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도를 탐지하는 단계; 또는
(4) 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도를 탐지하는 단계를 하나 이상 포함하며,
상기 (2) 단계에서 배기 온도가 0.5℃/min 이상으로 상승하는 경우, 또는 상기 (3) 단계에서 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하는 경우, 또는 상기 (4) 단계에서 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 방법은 상기 (2) 내지 (4) 단계 중 2개 이상을 포함한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 유기질 재료는 직경 500㎛ 이하의 폴리머 입자, 예를 들어, 아크릴로나트릴-부타디엔-스티렌(ABS), 메틸 메타크릴레이트-부타디엔-스티렌(MBS), 폴리비닐 클로라이드(PVC) 및 고밀도 폴리에틸렌(HDPE) 중 하나 이상을 포함한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 건조에 의해 방출되는 물(H2O), 일산화탄소(CO) 또는 이산화탄소(CO2)를 포함하는 배기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량이 0.5℃/min 이상인 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단하나, 이는 재료 및 건조기 상태에 따라, 예를 들어, 2℃/4min으로 변경될 수 있다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량이 0.5℃/min 이상이고 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량이 0.5℃/min 이상이고 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하고 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단한다.
하나의 실시양태에서, 상기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량이 0.5℃/min 이상이고 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하며 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단한다.
상술한 바와 같이, 본 발명의 탄화 조기 감지방법은 특정한 탄화 발생 조건을 사용함으로써 기존의 감지방법에 비해 정확하게 탄화 시점을 판단할 수 있다. 상기 방법에 의하여, 탄화 사고를 예방할 수 있어, 안정성 및 제품 생산성을 개선시킬 수 있다.
이하, 실시예를 통하여 본 발명을 더욱 상세히 설명하고자 한다. 아래에 기재한 실시예는 오로지 본 발명을 보다 구체적으로 설명하기 위한 것으로, 본 발명의 요지에 따라 본 발명의 범위가 이들 실시예에 의해 제한되지 않는다는 것은 당업계에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에 있어서 자명할 것이다.
비교예
- 건조기 내부/배기 온도 모니터링
본 비교예에서는 종래 방식에 따른 탄화 감지방법을 기재한다.
유기질 재료 제품 합성 후 건조 시 건조기 내부 혹은 배기 온도를 모니터링하여 미리 특정해 놓은 정상 운전 범위를 벗어나면 탄화 가능성이 있는 것으로 판단하고 대응한다.
대형 건조기의 경우, 내부 온도 측정 데이터에 노이즈가 다수 발생한다. 이로 인해 실제 탄화가 발생하지 않더라도 상황에 따라 특정 온도 이상이 되거나 특정 온도 이상을 한동안 유지하는 경우가 많을 수 있다. 또한, 탄화에 의한 급격한 온도 변화가 발생하더라도 정상 운전 범위 사이라면 탄화로 인한 발열 반응을 추정하기 어려운 단점이 있다.
이와 관련해, 시간에 따른 건조기 내 온도 변화를 나타내는 도 1을 살펴 보면, "①"은 정상 운전 범위를 벗어난 것으로 보이나, 데이터 노이즈나 상황에 따라 발생 가능한 현상으로 탄화 가능성은 사실상 낮다. 반면, "②"는 급격한 온도 변화로 볼 때 탄화 가능성이 있으나 정상 운전 범위 내에 있어서 탄화 인지 가능성이 낮다.
따라서, 종래 방식에 따른 탄화 감지방법으로는 정확한 탄화 시점 감지의 신뢰성이 떨어진다.
실시예
본 실시예에서는 본 발명에 따른 탄화 조기 감지방법을 기재한다.
1. 건조기 배기 온도 변화량 모니터링
상기 비교예의 문제점을 해결하기 위해 단위 시간당 배기 온도의 변화 추이를 분석하여 활용할 수 있다.
단위 시간당 배기 온도 변화량을 모니터링하여, 특별한 온도 변화가 없음에도 불구하고 온도 상승량이 일정 값 이상으로 측정될 경우(발열 반응을 동반한 탄화가 발생하는 경우 급격한 온도 상승이 발생) 경고 신호(warning signal)를 작동시켜 탄화 여부를 확인하는 방법 등으로 활용할 수 있다.
이와 관련해, 단위 시간당 배기 온도 변화량을 나타내는 도 2를 살펴 보면, 온도 상승량이 온도 변화량 한계선을 넘을 경우("②?"에 해당), 탄화 가능성이 있다.
탄화에 대한 실험실 테스트(Lab Test) 결과, 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량이 0.5℃/min 이상인 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단할 수 있다.
실제로 단위 시간당 배기 온도 변화량를 모니터링한 결과를 대량 생산 공정에 적용한 사례가 있다.
2. 배기 중 이산화탄소 농도 모니터링
유기질 재료의 탄화 과정에서는 물 및 일산화탄소/이산화탄소가 발생하며 이산화탄소가 가장 다량 발생하므로 이산화탄소 농도 모니터링을 통해 일정 농도 이상에서 경고 신호를 작동시켜 탄화 여부를 확인하는 방법 등으로 활용할 수 있다.
탄화에 대한 실험실 테스트(Lab Test) 결과 탄화 및 연기 발생 시에 10% 이상 이산화탄소의 농도가 증가하는 경향을 확인하였는 바, 이를 토대로 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단할 수 있다.
3. 배기 중 일산화탄소 농도 모니터링
유기질 재료의 탄화 시에 일산화탄소는 이산화탄소에 비해 상대적으로 적은 양이 발생한다고 알려져 있으며, 예를 들어, 이산화탄소 발생량의 1/10 내지 1/5의 수준으로 발생한다.
이산화탄소의 경우 공기 중에 일반적으로 400ppm 수준으로 존재하는데, 상황 및 환경에 따라 레퍼런스(reference) 농도가 실제로 100ppm 이상 차이가 날 수 있어 데이터 변동(data fluctuation)이 심하다. 이에 반해 일산화탄소는 공기 중에 0 내지 2ppm으로 존재하여 레퍼런스의 기준선(base line) 농도가 명확하고 데이터 변동이 거의 없다는 장점이 있다.
따라서, 일산화탄소의 농도가 2ppm을 초과하여 증가하면 탄화가 진행되는 것으로 판단할 수 있다.
아래에 실제 현장에서의 탄화를 재현한, 본 발명에서 실시한 실험실 테스트(Lab Test)의 내용 및 결과를 기재한다.
<실험실 테스트 관련 내용>
실험실 테스트는 유동층 건조기(FBD)에서 건조되는 ABS 분말에 관한 내용이지만 기타 유기재료 물질의 다양한 형태의 건조기에 적용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
실험실 테스트 목적
ABS 분말의 탄화 모니터링을 위한 탄화 감지 계기를 설치하여 CO/CO2의 감지 가능성을 확인하기 위한 것이다.
실험실 테스트 내용
- 건조기 누적 분말 탄화 현상 재현
- 표면 온도 상승에 따른 ABS 분말의 외형 변화, 및 CO와 CO2 농도 변화 관찰
실험실 테스트 CO/CO2 측정기 사양
- CO 측정기: 정확도(accuracy) 5ppm, 범위(range) 0 ~ 1,000ppm, 반응 시간: ~ 30초
- CO2 측정기: 정확도 40ppm, 범위 0 ~ 4,000ppm, 반응 시간: ~ 30초
실험실 테스트 결과
* 대기 중 CO 및 CO2의 평균 농도는 각각 0 내지 2ppm 및 400ppm 수준이나 환경에 따라 다를 수 있음.
상기 표에서 외형 변화, 즉 표면 변색에 대한 1) ~ 4)의 상태는 다음과 같다(동그라미 표시 부분이 밑면 상태이다).
실험실 테스트 결론
- ABS 분말 적체 및 표면 온도 증가에 의한 탄화 현상 재현 및 표면 온도 증가에 따른 외형적 변화 및 CO와 CO2 농도 변화를 관찰했다.
- 탄화 현상 재현이 가능하다.
- 일산화탄소 농도의 경우 탄화가 진행됨에 따라 발생하는 농도의 미량 변화를 관찰했으며, 연기 및 완전한 탄화가 발생하기 전 비교적 빠른 속도로 변화하는 농도 변화 및 연기 발생 후 급격한 농도 변화 관찰을 통해 일산화탄소 센서를 통한 탄화 감지 가능성을 확인하였다. 레퍼런스 농도가 거의 0ppm 수준이라는 장점이 있다.
- 이산화탄소 농도의 경우 실험 장비가 단순하고 계기 정확도가 낮아 실험실 테스트를 통한 측정 구현에 한계가 있었으나, 탄화 및 연기 발생 시에 레퍼런스 농도(환경/상황에 따라 변화 가능)에 비해 10% 가량 농도 상승을 관찰하여 이산화탄소 센서를 통한 탄화 감지 가능성을 확인하였다.
- 본 실험은 개방된 공간에서 진행된 실험으로, 실제 밀폐된 공간에서 감지하게 될 건조기에서 우수한 성능의 일산화탄소/이산화탄소 측정기를 사용한 농도 측정을 통해 탄화 발생 여부를 모니터링할 수 있다고 판단된다.
이상에서는 도면 및 실시예를 참조하여 본 발명에 따른 바람직한 실시양태를 기술하였으나, 이는 예시적인 것이며 당업계의 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 이에 의해 본 발명의 범위가 제한되는 것이 아니고 이로부터 다양한 변형 및 균등한 다른 실시양태가 가능하다는 점을 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서, 본 발명의 실질적인 범위는 첨부된 청구항들과 그것들의 등가물에 의하여 정의된다고 할 것이다.
Claims (9)
- 유기질 재료의 건조 공정 중 탄화의 조기 감지방법으로서,(1) 유기질 재료를 건조기 내에서 열풍 건조시키는 단계; 및(2) 상기 건조에 의해 방출되는 물(H2O), 일산화탄소(CO) 또는 이산화탄소(CO2)를 포함하는 배기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량을 탐지하는 단계; 또는(3) 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도를 탐지하는 단계; 또는(4) 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도를 탐지하는 단계를 하나 이상 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하며,상기 (2) 단계에서 배기 온도가 0.5℃/min 이상으로 상승하는 경우, 또는 상기 (3) 단계에서 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하는 경우, 또는 상기 (4) 단계에서 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단하는, 탄화의 조기 감지방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 유기질 재료가 직경 500㎛ 이하의 폴리머 입자인, 탄화의 조기 감지방법.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 폴리머 입자가 아크릴로나트릴-부타디엔-스티렌(ABS), 메틸 메타크릴레이트-부타디엔-스티렌(MBS), 폴리비닐 클로라이드(PVC) 및 고밀도 폴리에틸렌(HDPE) 중 하나 이상인, 탄화의 조기 감지방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 건조기가 유동층 건조기(fluidized bed dryer, FBD: 입자를 유동화시켜 건조시키는 건조기)인, 탄화의 조기 감지방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 (2) 내지 (4) 단계 중 2개 이상을 포함하는, 탄화의 조기 감지방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량이 0.5℃/min 이상이고 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단하는, 탄화의 조기 감지방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량이 0.5℃/min 이상이고 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단하는, 탄화의 조기 감지방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하고 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단하는, 탄화의 조기 감지방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 온도의 단위 시간당 변화량이 0.5℃/min 이상이고 상기 배기 중의 일산화탄소 농도가 2ppm을 초과하며 상기 배기 중의 이산화탄소 농도가 10% 이상 증가하는 경우를 탄화가 발생한 것으로 판단하는, 탄화의 조기 감지방법.
