Abstract
Description
例えば、リンは肥料成分として、また化学工業にも不可欠の成分であるが、日本においてはほぼ100%を輸入に頼っている。一方で排水中に多量のリンが含まれる場合は、富栄養化の原因となるため、このような排水を排出することは環境に好ましくない。これらの問題を解決するために、排水中に含まれるリン酸等のリン化合物の除去及び回収が注目されている。
リン酸イオン等の陰イオンを効率的に吸着及び回収できる吸着材として、オキシ水酸化鉄(FeOOH)からなるものが開発されており、特許文献1、2、3、4等に記載されている。特に特許文献2には、リン酸イオンを選択的に吸着することも記載されている。また特許文献5には、雑多な成分を多く含む水中から、金属酸化物系吸着剤でリンを吸着させ、アルカリ水溶液でリンを脱着させ、リン酸カルシウムとして析出させて回収する方法が記載されている。しかしこれらに加え、さらに高効率でリンを回収する方法が求められていた。
[1]陰イオン吸着材を用いて、目的の陰イオン及びその他の陰イオンを含有する水溶液(A)から目的の陰イオンを吸着する方法であって、少なくとも(1)pH5.8以下である前記水溶液(A)を前記陰イオン吸着材に接触させ、陰イオンを吸着させる工程、及びその後(2)pH5.2~11の水又は水溶液(B)を前記陰イオン吸着材に接触させ、前記陰イオン吸着材から前記陰イオン吸着材に吸着された前記その他の陰イオンの少なくとも一部を脱着させる工程、の両工程を実施することを特徴とする方法。

(1)pH5.8以下である前記水溶液(A)を前記陰イオン吸着材に接触させ、陰イオンを吸着させる工程、及びその後
(2)pH5.2~11の水又は水溶液(B)を前記陰イオン吸着材に接触させ、前記陰イオン吸着材から前記陰イオン吸着材に吸着された前記のその他の陰イオンの少なくとも一部を脱着させる工程、
の両工程を実施することを特徴とする方法である。これにより、目的の陰イオンを選択的に吸着し、その他の陰イオンの吸着量を低減することができる。ここでいう「その他の陰イオン」とは、水溶液(A)に含まれる目的の陰イオン以外の陰イオンのことをいう。
なお、本発明において具体的に記載した陰イオン名には、それがpH条件によって可逆的に変化し得る陰イオンを包含するものとする。例えば、「リン酸イオン」(オルトリン酸イオン)としては、狭義のリン酸イオン(PO4 3-)、リン酸水素イオン(HPO4 2-)、及びリン酸二水素イオン(H2PO4 -)を包含する。
(1)及び(2)の両工程については、各1回のみ実施する方法に限定されるものではない。例えば、水溶液(A)として複数種を対象とする場合に、各水溶液を対象とする複数の工程(1)を実施し、その後工程(2)を実施してもよい。また例えば、前記「その他の陰イオンの少なくとも一部」が目的の陰イオンの吸着効率に悪影響を及ぼす場合などに、(1)及び(2)の両工程からなる工程を反復して実施することができ、この方法を用いると、目的とする陰イオンを選択的に濃縮して吸着させることができる。さらに例えば工程(2)として、特定の陰イオンのみを選択的に脱着させる条件を含む複数の工程を実施することもできる。
pH調整に使用する酸としては、目的に応じて各種のものを選択できるが、水溶性の無機酸性物質が好ましく、さらに工程(2)で脱着させるべき「その他の陰イオンの少なくとも一部」を含有しない方が、効率の点で好ましい。水溶液(A)のpHは、5.5以下であることが好ましく、5以下であることがより好ましく、1.8~4であることがさらに好ましい。
さらに水溶液(A)には固形浮遊物質が含まれていてもよい。固形浮遊物質が吸着に悪影響を与える場合には、工程(1)に先立ちこれをフィルター等によるろ過で除去する工程を加えてもよい。
工程(1)及び(2)で回分式の方法を使用する場合、水溶液(B)としては、水溶液(A)をそのまま、又は必要に応じpH調整して使用してもよい。吸着材が混合された水溶液(A)にアルカリ性物質等のpH調整剤を添加してpHを調整し、その他の陰イオンの少なくとも一部を脱着させることもできる。
工程(2)で、吸着材をカラムに充填し、これに下降流又は上向流で水溶液(B)を通水する方法を使用する場合、(B)はpH7~9.5の範囲にあることが好ましく、pH8~9の範囲にあることがより好ましい。
一方、水溶液(B)中におけるその他の陰イオンの有無は、以上の効果に対して影響しない。
水溶液(B)中における、目的の陰イオンの濃度は、5ppm以上であることが好ましく、50ppm以上であることがより好ましく、100ppm以上であることがさらに好ましく、500ppm以上であることがさらに好ましい。この濃度が高いほど、陰イオン吸着材から前記のその他の陰イオンの少なくとも一部が脱着される速度が向上し、結果的に工程(2)の所要時間を短縮することができる。目的の陰イオンの濃度の上限は、その他の陰イオンの脱着を阻害しない限り特に制限されないが、10000ppm以下が好ましい。
水溶液(B)は、工程(2)に使用した後にも、pHが不適切な範囲となった場合、その他の陰イオンの濃度が高くなりすぎ析出のおそれがある場合、目的の陰イオンが吸着されて存在しなくなり上記の効果が失われた場合等の問題がない限り、複数回の工程(2)に反復使用することができる。
以上のようにして目的の陰イオンを含有しなくなった水溶液は、別の必要な処理工程に移行するか、環境・安全上の問題がなければそのまま廃棄することもできる。
水溶液(C)は、pH13以上であることがより好ましく、pH13~14であることがさらに好ましい。水溶液(C)は水溶性アルカリ性物質を水に溶解してなる溶液が好ましく、水溶性アルカリ性物質としては、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム等のアルカリ金属水酸化物;水酸化マグネシウム、水酸化カルシウム等のアルカリ土類金属水酸化物;アンモニア水等が例示され、このうちアルカリ金属水酸化物が好ましい。
工程(4)では、酸性水溶液(D)を再生液として陰イオン吸着材に接触させて用いることが好ましい。この再生液としては、pH2~5であることが好ましい。再生液に用いる水溶性酸性物質は、陰イオン吸着材、目的の陰イオン、及び工程(2)で脱着させるべき陰イオンの種類に応じて選択できるが、多くの場合に適用可能な塩酸を好ましく挙げることができる。
この脱着されるべき陰イオンとして具体的には、硫酸イオン及び硝酸イオンが挙げられる。
特に、下水またはその処理に伴って生じる液体では、硫酸イオンが多量に含有される場合がある。さらに、目的の陰イオンがリン酸イオン等のリンを含む陰イオンである場合には、硫酸イオンはこれに比較すれば回収対象としての重要性が低く、回収されたリン酸イオンと共存するとその後の工程に差し支えることもある。これらのことから、工程(2)で脱着されるべき陰イオンとしては、硫酸イオンが重要である。
目的の陰イオンがリン酸イオンである場合につき具体的に例示すれば、リン酸カルシウム、リン酸マグネシウムアンモニウム等の固体、リン酸ナトリウム、リン酸カリウム等の水溶液等とすることができる。本発明で得られるこれらのリン酸塩は、高純度であり、工業原料、肥料等の用途に適している。
β-オキシ水酸化鉄としては、塩化鉄(III)等の鉄(III)化合物の水溶液に塩基を加えながらpH9以下に調整して得られる沈殿物を回収して得られる乾燥ゲルが好ましい。さらに詳細には、上記pHを3~6に調整して得られる乾燥ゲル、該乾燥ゲルを水と接触させる工程を加えて得られる吸着材等が挙げられる。特に、前記沈殿物回収時に液中の電解質の総濃度を10質量%以上として得られる乾燥ゲル;β-オキシ水酸化鉄の結晶粒子の体積の90%以上が、結晶粒径20nm以下の粒状結晶、又は幅が10nm以下で長さが30nm以下の柱状結晶で構成されており、これら結晶が透過型電子顕微鏡により凝結することなく観察できる乾燥ゲル;乾燥ゲルを粉砕等により平均粒径70μm以下に調整してなる吸着材;等が好ましい。また、β-オキシ水酸化鉄粒子のBET比表面積は250m2/g以上であることが好ましい。
塩化第二鉄(FeCl3)の0.764mol/L水溶液に、室温でpH6以下に調整しながら、水酸化ナトリウム(NaOH)の12mol/L水溶液を滴下し、NaOHの最終添加量をNaOH/FeCl3(モル比)=2.83として反応させ、オキシ水酸化鉄の粒子懸濁液を得た。以上における塩化第二鉄と水酸化ナトリウムとの総和の濃度は17.6質量%であった。
懸濁液を濾別後、空気中120℃で乾燥し、塩化ナトリウム(NaCl)を含有したオキシ水酸化鉄粒子(1)を得た。オキシ水酸化鉄粒子(1)中のNaClの含有量は、オキシ水酸化鉄粒子(1)を100とした時に平均20.5質量%であった。
オキシ水酸化鉄粒子(1)をイオン交換水で洗浄し、さらに空気中120℃で乾燥し、オキシ水酸化鉄粒子(2)を得た。オキシ水酸化鉄粒子(2)中のNaClの含有量は、オキシ水酸化鉄粒子(2)を100とした時に平均0.5質量%であった。
以上により得られたオキシ水酸化鉄粒子(2)の粒子径は篩により分級し質量を測定したところ、90質量%以上が0.1mm~5mmであった。X線回折により、結晶構造はβ-オキシ水酸化鉄であり、平均結晶子径は3nmであることを確認した。
得られたオキシ水酸化鉄粒子(2)は、透過電子顕微鏡(TEM)観察による結晶子は、ほとんどが、大きさ5~10nmの粒状、若しくは幅5~10nmで長さ8~20nmの柱状であり、結晶の輪郭は明瞭で、互いに凝結している様子はなかった。またBET比表面積は285m2/gであった。
下水処理場の消化タンクから回収された消化汚泥を脱水処理し、ろ過してSS(浮遊物質)を除去し、脱水ろ液を得た。この液に塩酸を添加して、pH3.5に調整した(試験液A-1)。
試験液Aにおけるリン(リン酸イオン由来)及び硫黄(硫酸イオン由来)の含有量を、ICP(誘導結合プラズマ)で測定した結果、リンは71ppm、硫黄は86ppmであった。
ビーカー2本に各150mLの試験液A-1を入れ、これらに参考製造例1の吸着材を篩により0.25mm~0.5mmに分級した粒子の各0.25gを添加後、撹拌し吸着試験を行った。所定の時間後に液を採取し、シリンジフィルターで固形分と分離し、溶液中のリン及び硫黄の濃度をICPにより分析し、吸着量を算出した。同時にpHを測定した。
試験時間24時間経過直後に試験液A-1に水酸化ナトリウムを添加してpHを5.41(試験液B-1-1:実施例1-1)又は8.46(試験液B-1-2:実施例1-2)に調整し、上記と同様の方法で吸着試験を行い、所定の時間後に、吸着量の算出、及びpHの測定を行った。
以上の結果を表1に示した。
参考例1の吸着材を篩により0.25mm~0.5mmに分級した粒子20gをカラムに充填した。このときの充填体積は16.2立方センチメートルであった。
リン酸二水素カリウム及び硫酸ナトリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、塩酸によりpH3.0に調整することにより、リン100ppm及び硫黄100ppmを含有する試験液A-2を調製した。
また、リン酸二水素カリウム及び硫酸ナトリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、水酸化ナトリウム水溶液によりpH8.5に調整することにより、リン100ppm及び硫黄100ppmを含有する試験液B-2を調製した。
室温で上記カラム上部より、試験液A-2を、空間速度(SV)50(13.2mL/min)で6時間通水し、続いて、試験液B-2を、空間速度(SV)15(4.0mL/min)で17時間通水した。カラム下部より出てきた液を経時的に採取し、シリンジフィルターで固形分と分離し、溶液中のリン及び硫黄の濃度をICP又はイオンクロマトグラフィーにより分析し、吸着材単位量当たりのリン及び硫黄の吸着量を算出した。同時にpHを測定した。結果を表2に示した。
試験液B-2に代えて、リン酸二水素カリウム及び硫酸ナトリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、水酸化ナトリウム水溶液によりpH8.5に調整することにより調製した、リン100ppm及び硫黄1000ppmを含有する試験液B-3を使用した以外は、実施例2-1と同様の方法で試験を行った。結果を表2に示した。
試験液B-2に代えて、水酸化ナトリウムをイオン交換水に溶解してpH8.5に調整することにより調製した、リン、硫黄共に含有しない試験液B-4を使用した以外は、実施例2-1と同様の方法で試験を行った。結果を表2に示した。
試験液B-2に代えて、硫酸ナトリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、水酸化ナトリウム水溶液によりpH8.5に調整することにより調製した、硫黄100ppmを含有する試験液B-5を使用した以外は、実施例2-1と同様の方法で試験を行った。結果を表2に示した。
特に、試験液Bとしてリン酸イオンを含有するものを用いることにより、最終的にリン酸イオンの吸着量を高め、かつ硫酸イオンの吸着量を0に近くすることが可能となった。
実施例2-1と同様に、参考例1の吸着材を篩により0.25mm~0.5mmに分級した粒子20gをカラムに充填した。このときの充填体積は16.2立方センチメートルであった。
リン酸二水素カリウム及び硫酸ナトリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、塩酸によりpH3.0に調整することにより、リン100ppm及び硫黄100ppmを含有する試験液A-2を調製した。
リン酸二水素カリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、水酸化ナトリウム水溶液によりpH8.5に調整することにより、リン100ppmを含有する試験液B-6を調製した。
室温で上記カラム上部より、前記の試験液A-2を、空間速度(SV)50(13.2mL/min)で4時間通水し、続いて、試験液B-6を、空間速度(SV)15(4.0mL/min)で17時間通水した。カラム下部より出てきた液を経時的に採取し、シリンジフィルターで固形分と分離し、溶液中のリン及び硫黄の濃度をICP又はイオンクロマトグラフィーにより分析し、吸着材単位量当たりのリン及び硫黄の吸着量を算出した。試験終了後の硫黄吸着量は0.1mg/gであった。結果を表3に示した。
試験液B-6に代えて、リン酸二水素カリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、水酸化ナトリウム水溶液によりpH8.5に調整することにより調製した、リン500ppmを含有する試験液B-7を使用した以外は、実施例2-5と同様の方法で試験を行った。結果を表3に示した。また、硫黄吸着量が0mg/gに到達するまで、試験液切替後から6時間を要した。
試験液B-6に代えて、リン酸二水素カリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、水酸化ナトリウム水溶液によりpH8.5に調整することにより調製した、リン800ppmを含有する試験液B-8を使用した以外は、実施例2-5と同様の方法で試験を行った。結果を表3に示した。また、硫黄吸着量が0mg/gに到達するまで、試験液切替後から4.5時間を要した。
試験液B-6に代えて、リン酸二水素カリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、水酸化ナトリウム水溶液によりpH8.5に調整することにより調製した、リン1000ppmを含有する試験液B-9を使用した以外は、実施例2-5と同様の方法で試験を行った。結果を表3に示した。また、硫黄吸着量が0mg/gに到達するまで、試験液切替後から2時間を要した。
試験液B-6に代えて、リン酸二水素カリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、水酸化ナトリウム水溶液によりpH9.5に調整することにより調製した、リン1000ppmを含有する試験液B-10を使用した以外は、実施例2-5と同様の方法で試験を行った。結果を表3に示した。また、硫黄吸着量が0mg/gに到達するまで、試験液切替後から2時間を要した。
水酸化ナトリウムをイオン交換水に溶解し、10質量%溶液を調製した。pHは14であった。これを試験液C-1として、実施例2-1、2-3、及び2-4を終えた直後のカラム上部より、室温で空間速度(SV)20(5.3mL/min)で2時間通水した。カラム下部から流出した液を回収し、溶液中のリン及び硫黄の濃度をICP又はイオンクロマトグラフィーにより分析した。各含有量と通水量との積から、回収した試験液C-1中に脱着されたリンおよび硫黄の回収量を算出した。同様に、実施例2-3、2-4を終えた直後のカラムについても試験液C-1の通水を実施し、それぞれ回収した試験液の分析及び脱着回収量の算出を行った。これらの結果を表4に示した。
イオン交換水に10%塩酸を添加混合し、pH2.5の水溶液(試験液D-1)を調製した。試験液D-1を、実施例3-3を終えた直後のカラム上部より、室温で空間速度(SV)35(9.3mL/min)で通水し、定期的にカラム下部流出液のpHを測定し、流出液pHが2~5の範囲内に達した段階で通水を停止することにより、吸着材の陰イオン吸着能(吸着容量)の再生を行った。この再生吸着材を用い、実施例2-4に記載した試験のうち試験液A-2を用いた吸着試験と同条件の吸着試験を再度実施したところ、吸着材単位量当たりのリンおよび硫黄の吸着量に関し、ほとんど同じ数値が再現された。これらの結果を表5に示した。

- 陰イオン吸着材を用いて、目的の陰イオン及びその他の陰イオンを含有する水溶液(A)から目的の陰イオンを吸着する方法であって、少なくとも
(1)pH5.8以下である前記水溶液(A)を前記陰イオン吸着材に接触させ、陰イオンを吸着させる工程、及びその後
(2)pH5.2~11の水又は水溶液(B)を前記陰イオン吸着材に接触させ、前記陰イオン吸着材から前記陰イオン吸着材に吸着された前記その他の陰イオンの少なくとも一部を脱着させる工程、
の両工程を実施することを特徴とする方法。 - 水溶液(B)が目的の陰イオンを含有することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
