近年、固体粒子を混合した液体を吐出するのに、特許文献1に開示されるような構造を有するディスペンサが多く用いられるようになっているが、特許文献1のディスペンサは液体を攪拌するための手段を有していないため、攪拌を行うための手段が必要となる。
上記の吐出装置において、前記吐出制御プログラムが、前記攪拌ステップを連続して実行する連続攪拌ステップを備えることを特徴としてもよい。
上記の吐出装置において、さらに、前記貯留容器と前記計量部とを連通する接続流路を有する接続部材を備え、前記接続流路と前記貯留容器との接続部の断面積が、前記貯留容器の断面積の1/4以下であることを特徴としてもよく、この場合、好ましくは、前記接続流路と前記貯留容器との接続部の断面積が、前記貯留容器の断面積の1/10以下であることを特徴とし、より好ましくは、前記接続流路が、一端から他端まで実質的に同径の直線形状の流路からなることを特徴とする。

本発明の実施形態例に係る吐出装置1は、図1に示すように、液体材料14を貯留する貯留容器2と、液体材料14が充填される計量部3と、計量部3内を進退移動するプランジャ4と、液体材料14を吐出する吐出口を有するノズル5と、貯留容器2と計量部3との連通または計量部3とノズル5との連通を切り換える切換弁6と、プランジャ4を進退移動させるプランジャ駆動装置7と、切換弁6の向きを変える切換弁駆動装置8と、吐出制御装置10とを備えて構成される。
計量部3は、ノズル5から吐出するための液体材料が一時的に貯留される空間である計量孔31を有する円筒状の部材である。計量孔31は、円柱状の空間であり、計量部3の内周面と摺接するプランジャ4が挿入されている。計量部3は、切換弁6を構成する切換ブロックに固設されている。
プランジャ4は、ロッド状の部材であり、少なくとも先端部の外周面が計量孔31の内周面と摺接する。プランジャ4は、プランジャ駆動装置7により往復移動される。
切換弁6は、貯留容器2および計量部3を連通する第一位置(図2参照)と、計量部3およびノズル5を連通する第二位置(図4参照)とを有している。第一位置および第二位置は、吐出制御装置10からの指令を受けた切換弁駆動装置8により切り換えられる。切換弁6は、内部に接続流路131を有する接続部材13を介して貯留容器2と接続されている。
接続流路131の形状は、直線形状(I字形)であってもよいし、L字形のように屈曲部を有する形状であってもよい。
接続部材13の形状は、図示のような管状には限定されず、内部に接続流路131が穿って形成されたブロック状の部材で構成してもよい。
(2-1)充填動作
上記構成の吐出装置1において、ノズル5から液体材料の吐出を行うときは、吐出制御プログラムにより次の動作が実施される。
まず、切換弁駆動装置8を駆動して、図2に示すように、切換弁6を貯留容器2と計量部3とが連通する第一位置に切り換える。そして、プランジャ4を上昇させると、その作用により、液体材料14は図2中の黒矢印で示したように、貯留容器2から接続部材13、切換弁6を通り、計量部3の下端から計量孔31内に充填される。本明細書では、この図2の動作を「充填動作」と呼ぶ。このとき、貯留容器2に、吐出制御装置10により調圧された圧縮気体を供給して圧力を印加してもよく、そうすることで、充填動作をより早く、円滑に行うこともできる。
充填動作が完了すると、切換弁駆動装置8を駆動して、図4に示すように、切換弁6を計量部3とノズル5とが連通する第二位置に切り換える。次いで、プランジャ駆動装置7を駆動してプランジャ4を下降させると計量孔31の容積が減少するので、計量孔31内の液体材料14は図4中の黒矢印で示したように、計量部3から切換弁6を通り、ノズル5へ至って排出される。本明細書では、この図4の動作を「排出動作」と呼ぶ。
上記構成の吐出装置1において、液体材料の攪拌を行うときは、吐出制御プログラムにより次の動作が実施される。ここで、基本の吐出動作を終えた状態、すなわち、排出動作を終えた状態(プランジャが下降した状態)を初期状態とする。
(3-1)充填動作
まず、上記(2-1)の充填動作を行う。充填動作直後の計量孔31内では、充填動作時に生じる流れにより液体材料中の固体粒子は攪拌された状態となっている。
図3に示すように、切換弁6の位置は切り換えずに、貯留容器2と計量部3とが連通する第一位置のままとする。そして、プランジャ4を下降させると計量孔31の容積が減少するので、計量孔31内の液体材料14は図3中の黒矢印で示したように、計量孔31から切換弁6、接続部材13を通り、貯留容器2の下端から貯留容器2内に流入する。本明細書では、この図3の動作を「流入動作」と呼ぶ。流入動作の実行時は、貯留容器2には、圧縮気体を供給しない方が液体材料14がより流入しやすくなるので好ましい。貯留容器2においては、流入動作により下から上の流れが生じるので、これにより貯留容器2内で沈降した固体粒子が舞い上げられ、液体材料14を攪拌することができる。プランジャ4の下降動作は、貯留容器2内により多くの液体材料14を逆流させるために、計量孔31の下端または下端付近まで行うことが好ましい。
吐出制御プログラムには、上述の攪拌動作を、予め設定したタイミング(例えば、排出動作直前や、吐出動作と吐出動作の合間)で実施するようプログラムされている。特に、排出動作前には少なくとも1回の攪拌動作を実施するようにプログラムすることが好ましい。
攪拌動作を連続して複数回実施してから排出動作をすることで攪拌作用を高めてもよく、吐出しない間は、攪拌動作を繰り返し実行するようにプログラムしてもよい。より詳細には、吐出制御装置10に、動作指令を一定時間(例えば、予めの計測により設定された粒子沈降の問題が生じる時間)以上受信しないことを検知するタイマーを設け、タイマーが一定時間の経過を検知した場合に一又は複数回の攪拌動作を実行するようにプログラムしてもよい(このタイマーは、ハードウェアまたはソフトウェアにより実現される。)。
吐出などのタイミングによらず、一定の周期で、次の吐出動作の実行までに攪拌動作を実行する時間があるタイミングを検出し、当該タイミングに1回ないし複数回の攪拌動作を行うようにプログラムしてもよい。
また、充填動作と流入動作とでは、接続流路131を流れる液体材料の向きが逆転する。接続流路131内の流れが一方向のみでないため、接続流路131内に固体粒子の沈着が生じにくいという効果が奏される。

バルブブロック19は、その内部に貯留容器2に連通する第一の流路20と、計量孔31に連通する第二の流路21と、ノズル5に連通する第三の流路22が形成され、第一の流路20と第二の流路21との連通と、第二の流路21と第三の流路22との連通とを切り換える切換弁6が設けられている。
(A2)動作
上述の吐出制御プログラムを実行することにより、実施形態例で説明した吐出動作および攪拌動作が自動実行される。実施例の吐出装置1は、上述の実施形態例で説明したのと同様の吐出動作や攪拌動作を自動で行うことができる。
本実施例の吐出装置および方法は、液体材料より比重の大きい固体粒子が含有する液体材料の塗布工程、例えば、蛍光体(これが固体粒子に相当)を混合した液体材料をLED素子の上に塗布する工程で用いられる。LED素子への塗布工程で用いられる液体材料は、例えば、エポキシ系樹脂、シリコーン系樹脂、アクリル系樹脂であり、蛍光体には、窒化物系、酸窒化物系、酸化物系、硫化物系の蛍光体が含まれる。蛍光体の具体例としては、イットリウム、アルミニウムの複合酸化物からなるガーネット構造の結晶に他の元素を混合した黄色蛍光体であるYAG系蛍光体(化学式Y3Al5O12:Ce)、化学式Lu3Al5O12:Ceで表される緑色蛍光体であるLuAG系蛍光体、化学式(Sr,Ca)AlSiN3:Euで表される赤色蛍光体であるSCASN系蛍光体、化学式CaAlSiN3:Euで表される赤色蛍光体であるCASN系蛍光体、化学式La3Si6N11:Ceで表される黄色蛍光体であるLSN系蛍光体、化学式CaSc2O4:Ceで表わされる緑色蛍光体であるスカンジウム酸化物蛍光体、化学式SiAlON:Euで表される緑色蛍光体であるサイアロン系蛍光体が挙げられる。
吐出装置1は、塗布装置51に搭載されて、ワーク56上に塗布作業を行う。実施例に係る塗布装置51の概略斜視図を図6に示す。
(B1)構成
本発明の実施例に係る塗布装置51は、上述した吐出装置1と、液体材料14を吐出する対象であるワーク56と上述の吐出装置1とを相対移動させるXYZ駆動機構52と、ワーク56を塗布装置51外から運び入れ、塗布作業位置へと移動させ、塗布装置51外へと運び出す搬送機構53と、塗布作業時にワーク56を支持固定するステージ55と、上記各機器の動作を制御する塗布制御装置57とから主に構成される。
(a)ワークの搬入・搬出の開始時
(b)吐出を伴わない吐出装置のXYZ移動時(例えば、待機位置から塗布開始位置への移動時)
(c)最後の吐出動作指令または攪拌動作指令から一定時間(例えば、予めの計測により設定された粒子沈降の問題が生じる時間)が経過し、かつ、吐出動作指令および攪拌動作指令が出されていない時
上記(c)を実現するにあたっては、塗布制御装置57に一定時間の経過を検知するタイマーを設け、タイマーが一定時間の経過を検知した場合に一又は複数回の攪拌動作を実行するようにプログラムしてもよい(このタイマーは、ハードウェアまたはソフトウェアにより実現される。)。
上述した塗布装置51では、塗布制御プログラムにより次の塗布動作が実施される。
塗布制御プログラムが実行されると、ワーク56を第一の方向に搬送する搬送機構53によりワーク56が塗布装置51のカバー59内へと搬入される。カバー59内へ搬入されたワーク56は、そのまま第一の方向に搬送され、ステージ55が設置された位置(作業位置)まで運ばれると停止する。ワーク56が停止すると、ステージ55が上昇してワーク56を支持固定する。ワーク56がステージ55に支持固定された後、吐出装置1をXYZ駆動機構52によりワーク56に対して相対移動させながら、予め設定した塗布パターンに基づき液体材料14をワーク56上へ連続的に吐出することで所望の塗布作業を行う。ここでいう塗布パターンには、例えば、吐出口を所定位置まで移動して停止させた状態で、ダム内に液体材料を充填する場合も含まれる。
このように、塗布制御プログラムによりワーク56搬入時やワーク56搬出時に攪拌動作の指令を吐出制御装置10に送信することで、常に固体粒子が液体中で拡散した状態で塗布作業をすることができる。
Claims (12)
- 固体粒子を含有する液体材料を貯留する貯留容器と、
前記液体材料が充填される計量孔を有する計量部と、
前記計量孔内を進退移動するプランジャと、
前記液体材料を吐出する吐出口を有するノズルと、
前記貯留容器と前記計量部とを連通する第一位置および前記計量部と前記ノズルとを連通する第二位置を有する切換弁と、
プランジャを進退移動させるプランジャ駆動装置と、
切換弁の第一位置および第二位置を切り換える切換弁駆動装置と、
プロセッサおよび吐出制御プログラムが記憶された記憶装置を備える吐出制御装置と、を備え、
前記吐出制御プログラムが、
前記切換弁を第一位置とし、前記プランジャを後退移動させることで前記計量孔内に前記液体材料を充填する充填ステップと、
前記切換弁を第二位置とし、前記プランジャを進出移動させることで前記計量孔内の前記液体材料を前記吐出口から吐出する排出ステップと、
前記切換弁を第一位置とし、前記プランジャを進出移動させることで前記計量孔内の前記液体材料を前記貯留容器内に流入する流入ステップと、
前記充填ステップおよび前記排出ステップを連続して実行する吐出ステップと、
前記充填ステップおよび前記流入ステップを連続して実行する攪拌ステップと、
を備えることを特徴とする固体粒子を含有する液体材料の吐出装置。 - 前記吐出制御プログラムが、前記攪拌ステップを連続して実行する連続攪拌ステップを備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の固体粒子を含有する液体材料の吐出装置。
- さらに、前記貯留容器と前記計量部とを連通する接続流路を有する接続部材を備え、
前記接続流路と前記貯留容器との接続部の断面積が、前記貯留容器の断面積の1/4以下であることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の固体粒子を含有する液体材料の吐出装置。 - 前記接続流路と前記貯留容器との接続部の断面積が、前記貯留容器の断面積の1/10以下であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の固体粒子を含有する液体材料の吐出装置。
- 前記接続流路が、一端から他端まで実質的に同径の直線形状の流路からなることを特徴とする請求項3または4に記載の固体粒子を含有する液体材料の吐出装置。
- 請求項1ないし5のいずれかに記載の固体粒子を含有する液体材料の吐出装置と、
ワークを固定するステージと、
前記ステージと前記吐出装置とを相対移動させるXYZ駆動機構と、
プロセッサおよび塗布制御プログラムが記憶された記憶装置を備える塗布制御装置と、を備え、
前記塗布制御プログラムが、
塗布パターンに基づき前記XYZ駆動機構により前記ステージと前記吐出装置とを相対移動させ、かつ、前記吐出装置に前記吐出ステップおよび前記攪拌ステップを実行させる塗布ステップを備えることを特徴とする塗布装置。 - さらに、搬入部から受け入れたワークを前記ステージまで搬送し、前記ワークを前記ステージから搬出部まで搬送する搬送機構を備え、
前記塗布制御プログラムが、前記搬送機構により前記ワークを搬送している間に、前記吐出制御装置に前記攪拌ステップを一回以上実行させる搬送時攪拌ステップを備えることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の塗布装置。 - 前記塗布制御装置が、最後の攪拌動作または吐出動作から一定時間を経過したことを検知するタイマーを備え、
前記塗布制御プログラムが、前記タイマーが前記一定時間の経過を検知し、次の吐出ステップの実行までに前記攪拌ステップを実行する時間がある場合に、前記吐出制御装置に前記攪拌ステップを一回以上実行させる定時攪拌ステップを備えることを特徴とする請求項6または7に記載の塗布装置。 - 前記塗布制御プログラムが、一定の周期で、次の吐出ステップの実行までに前記攪拌ステップを実行する時間があるタイミングを検出し、当該タイミングに前記吐出制御装置に前記攪拌ステップを一回以上実行させる周期攪拌ステップを備えることを特徴とする請求項6ないし8のいずれかに記載の塗布装置。
- 請求項6ないし9のいずれかに記載の塗布装置を用いた塗布方法であって、
前記塗布制御装置が、前記塗布制御プログラムを実行することによりワークに塗布パターンを形成することを特徴とする塗布方法。 - 前記固体粒子が、前記液体材料よりも比重の大きい固体粒子を含むことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の塗布方法。
- 前記固体粒子が、LED用蛍光体であることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の塗布方法。
