Abstract

본 발명은, 양극, 음극, 및 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재되는 분리막을 포함하는 전극조립체가 전지케이스에 내장되어 있는 전지셀로서, 상기 분리막은, 다공성 고분자 기재 및 상기 다공성 고분자 기재의 적어도 일면에 형성되어 있는 유무기 다공성 코팅층을 포함하고, 상기 유무기 다공성 코팅층은, 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물의 혼합물을 포함하는 무기물 입자들과, 헥사플루오로 프로필렌(HFP) 함량이 높은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP high') 및 HFP 함량이 낮은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP low')의 혼합물을 포함하며, 상기 분리막과, 양극 또는 음극의 접착력은 15gf/25mm 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀에 관한 것이다.

Description

접착력이 강화된 분리막을 포함하는 전지셀
본 출원은 2015.03.05자 한국 특허 출원 제10-2015-0030848호에 기초한 우선권의 이익을 주장하며, 해당 한국 특허 출원의 문헌에 개시된 모든 내용은 본 명세서의 일부로서 포함된다.
본 발명은 접착력이 강화된 분리막을 포함하는 전지셀에 관한 것이다.
모바일 기기에 대한 기술 개발과 수요가 증가함에 따라 에너지원으로서의 이차전지에 대해 수요가 급격히 증가하고 있고, 그러한 이차전지 중에서도 높은 에너지 밀도와 작동 전위를 나타내고, 사이클 수명이 길며, 자기방전율이 낮은 리튬 이차전지가 상용화되어 널리 사용되고 있다.
그러나, 이와 같은 리튬 이차전지는 안전성에 문제가 있으므로 이를 해결하기 위한 시도들이 진행되고 있다.
구체적으로, 전극과 분리막간 접착력이 약한 경우에는 전지의 충방전 동안에 분리막 및 전극의 밀림으로 전극 간 단락이 일어날 수 있고, 이때 국부적으로 과도한 전류가 흐르게 되어 발열이 생기는 바, 전지가 발화되거나 폭발하는 문제가 있다. 또한, 접착력이 약한 경우, 전극 간 벌어짐에 의해 계면 저항이 증가하며, 전극이 휘어질 수 있는 바, 이로 인한 안전성 또한 문제된다.
이에, 상기 안전성 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 다수의 기공을 갖는 다공성 기재의 적어도 일면에, 과량의 무기물 입자와 고분자 바인더를 포함하는 슬러리가 코팅되어 다공성 코팅층이 형성되도록 한 분리막이 제안되었다. 그러나, 이러한 분리막 역시 충분한 전극과의 접착력을 발휘하기 어려워, 다공성 코팅층을 두껍게 형성해야만 충분한 접착력을 발휘할 수 있었으나, 이 경우, 전체적인 저항이 증가하고, 전극조립체 자체의 부피가 커져 부피 대비 용량이 저하되는 문제가 있었다.
한편, 최근에는 슬림한 타입 또는 다양한 디자인의 추세 변화(trend change)로 인하여 새로운 형태의 전지셀이 요구되고 있다.
이러한 전지셀을 적용되는 디바이스의 디자인을 고려하여 신규한 구조로 만들기 위해서는, 전지셀의 용량을 줄이거나 더 큰 크기로 디바이스의 디자인을 변경해야 하는 문제점이 있다.
따라서, 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위하여, 일부 선행기술에서는 서로 크기가 다른 전지셀들을 적층하여 전지팩을 구성하기도 한다. 그러나, 이러한 전지팩은 전지셀들을 적층하는 구조이므로, 적층된 전지셀들 간에는 전기화학적 반응을 공유하지 못하여, 결과적으로 전지팩의 두께가 두꺼워지며 이러한 두께로 인해 전지 용량이 줄어들 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 이러한 디자인 변경 과정에서 전기적 연결 방식이 복잡해짐으로 인해 소망하는 조건을 만족하는 전지셀의 제작이 어려워지는 문제점도 있다.
이에, 전지셀이 적용되는 디바이스의 모양에 따라 전극조립체 자체의 형태를 변화시킨 비정형 전지셀의 개발이 요구되었고, 이러한 전지셀을 제조하기 위해서는 다양한 형태에 맞게 전극과 분리막의 라미네이션 이후 분리막을 커팅(cutting)하는 작업이 필수적이었다. 그러나, 이 경우, 전극과 분리막 간의 접착력이 낮으면 분리막 커팅 공정시 분리막이 밀리면서 정확한 재단의 어려움이 있고, 커팅시 발생하는 분리막 밀림 현상 때문에 상기에서 설명한 바와 같은 전극 간 단락이 더욱 심각해지는 문제가 있었다.
따라서, 전극과 분리막 간의 접착력을 더욱 향상시켜 상기 문제점들을 해결할 수 있는 전지셀에 대한 필요성이 높은 실정이다.
본 발명은 상기와 같은 종래기술의 문제점과 과거로부터 요청되어온 기술적 과제를 해결하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
본 출원의 발명자들은 심도 있는 연구와 다양한 실험을 거듭한 끝에, 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물의 혼합물을 포함하는 무기물 입자들과, 헥사플루오로 프로필렌(HFP) 함량이 높은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP high') 및 HFP 함량이 낮은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP low')의 혼합물을 포함하는 유무기 다공성 코팅층이 다공성 고분자 기재의 적어도 일면에 형성되어 있는 분리막을 사용하는 경우, 유무기 다공성 코팅층이 다공성 고분자 기재에 얇은 두께로 코팅되더라도 우수한 전극과의 접착성을 발휘하고, 분리막의 열수축률을 개선할 수 있음을 확인하고, 본 발명을 완성하기에 이르렀다.
따라서, 본 발명에 따른 전지셀은,
양극, 음극, 및 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재되는 분리막을 포함하는 전극조립체가 전지케이스에 내장되어 있는 전지셀로서,
상기 분리막은, 다공성 고분자 기재 및 상기 다공성 고분자 기재의 적어도 일면에 형성되어 있는 유무기 다공성 코팅층을 포함하고,
상기 유무기 다공성 코팅층은, 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물의 혼합물을 포함하는 무기물 입자들과, 헥사플루오로 프로필렌(HFP) 함량이 높은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP high') 및 HFP 함량이 낮은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP low')의 혼합물을 포함하며,
상기 분리막과, 양극 또는 음극의 접착력은 15gf/25mm 이상인 것을 특징으로 한다.
이때, 상기 유무기 다공성 코팅층은, 다공성 고분자 기재의 단면을 기준으로 0.5 마이크로미터 내지 5 마이크로미터의 두께, 상세하게는, 1 마이크로미터 내지 3 마이크로미터의 두께로 형성되어 있을 수 있다.
이러한 상기 두께 범위의 유무기 다공성 코팅층은 전지셀에 내부저항을 증가시키지 않으면서 분리막에 내열성을 부여하기 위한 최적의 범위로서, 상기 범위를 벗어나, 너무 얇은 경우에는 분리막에 내열성을 부가할 수 없을 뿐 아니라 접착력 또한 소망하는 값 이상으로 얻을 수 없으며, 반대로 너무 두꺼운 경우에는 전체적인 부피가 증가하는 바, 부피 대비 용량이 줄고, 내부저항으로 작용할 수 있는 문제가 있어 바람직하지 않다.
본 출원의 발명자들은, 상기에서 정의한 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 분리막, 즉, 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물의 혼합물을 포함하는 무기물 입자들과, 헥사플루오로 프로필렌(HFP) 함량이 높은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP high') 및 HFP 함량이 낮은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP low')의 혼합물을 포함하는 유무기 다공성 코팅층을 다공성 고분자 기재의 적어도 일면에 형성한 분리막을 사용하여 전극과 라미네이션을 수행하는 경우에는, 유무기 다공성 코팅층을 상기 두께로 얇게 형성하여도, 분리막과 전극의 접착력을 15gf/25mm 이상, 상세하게는 15gf/25mm 내지 30gf/25mm로 향상시킬 수 있어, 분리막의 밀림 현상을 해결함에 따라 전지셀의 안전성을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.
또한, 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물을 함께 사용하는 바, 입자 크기가 두 가지 형태로 구성되어 단위면적당 패키징을 최대로 할 수 있어, 분리막의 열수축이 더욱 개선될 수 있다.
본원 명세서에서, 'PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더'라 함은 비닐리덴 플루오라이드(Vinylidene Fluoride: VdF) 유래의 구성 단위 및 헥사플루오로프로필렌(Hexafluoropropylene: HFP) 유래의 구성 단위를 포함하는 비닐리덴 플루오라이드 공중합체를 의미하는 것으로서, 본 발명에 따른 'PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더'의 분자량은 100,000 g/mol 내지 1,000,000 g/mol일 수 있고, 상세하게는 200,000 g/mol 내지 700,000 g/mol일 수 있다.
또한, 본원 명세서에서 'PHFP high'는 HFP 함량이 상대적으로 많은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더를 의미하며, 상세하게는, 'PHFP high'는 그 고분자 내에 중량을 기준으로 8 내지 20 중량%, 더욱 상세하게는, 12 내지 20 중량%의 HFP를 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 본원 명세서에서 'PHFP low'는 HFP 함량이 상대적으로 적은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더를 의미하며, 상세하게는, 'PHFP low'는 그 고분자 내에 중량을 기준으로 3 내지 15 중량%, 더욱 상세하게는, 3 내지 8 중량%의 HFP를 포함할 수 있다.
물론, 본 발명에 따른 혼합물에서 'PHFP high'의 HFP 함량과 'PHFP low'의 HFP 함량은 상기 범위를 만족하여 포함되되, 'PHFP high'의 HFP 함량이 'PHFP low'의 HFP 함량보다 많다. 구체적으로, PHFP high와 PHFP low 간의 HFP 함량 차이는 각각의 고분자 바인더 중량을 기준으로 PHFP high가 PHFP low보다 5중량% 이상 많게 HFP를 포함하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 함량 차이가 5중량% 미만인 경우에는 2종의 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더 혼합에 의해 얻고자 한 소망한 정도의 접착력 향상, 즉, 15gf/25mm 이상의 접착력을 발휘할 수 없어 바람직하지 않다.
이러한 상기 PHFP high와 PHFP low는 중량을 기준으로 1 : 3 내지 1 : 20의 함량비로 혼합될 수 있다.
상기 범위를 벗어나, PHFP low가 너무 적게 포함되는 경우에는 분리막의 통기 시간이 악화되고, 이에 따라 저항이 상승되어 전지 특성에 악영향을 주게 되고, PHFP low가 너무 많이 포함되는 경우에는, 분리막과 전극 간의 접착력이 약화되어 전지의 충방전 또는 분리막의 커팅시 밀림 현상으로 인해 전극 간 단락 발생의 문제가 있는 바, 바람직하지 않다.
더 나아가, 상기 유무기 다공성 코팅층은 전술한 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더 이외에, 본 발명의 목적에 부합하는 한도에서 다른 종류의 유기 고분자 바인더를 포함할 수 있으며, 예를 들어, 폴리비닐리덴 플루오라이드-트리클로로에틸렌 (polyvinylidene fluoride-co-trichloroethylene), 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트(polymethylmethacrylate), 폴리부틸아크릴레이트 (polybutylacrylate), 폴리아크릴로니트릴(polyacrylonitrile), 폴리비닐피롤리돈 (polyvinylpyrrolidone), 폴리비닐아세테이트 (polyvinylacetate), 에틸렌 비닐 아세테이트 공중합체 (polyethylene-co-vinyl acetate), 폴리에틸렌옥사이드 (polyethylene oxide), 폴리아릴레이트(polyarylate), 셀룰로오스 아세테이트 (cellulose acetate), 셀룰로오스 아세테이트 부틸레이트(cellulose acetate butyrate), 셀룰로오스 아세테이트 프로피오네이트 (cellulose acetate propionate), 시아노에틸플루란 (cyanoethylpullulan), 시아노에틸폴리비닐알콜 (cyanoethylpolyvinylalcohol), 시아노에틸셀룰로오스 (cyanoethylcellulose), 시아노에틸수크로오스 (cyanoethylsucrose), 플루란 (pullulan) 및 카르복실메틸 셀룰로오스 (carboxyl methyl cellulose)로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 또는 2종 이상의 혼합물을 포함할 수 있다. 이때, 상기 다른 종류의 유기 고분자 바인더는 유무기 다공성 코팅층에 포함되는 고분자 바인더 전체 중량을 기준으로 0 내지 30 중량%의 양으로 포함될 수 있다.
한편, 유무기 다공성 코팅층을 형성하기 위한 또 다른 성분으로서 무기물 입자들은 금속 산화물 및 금속 수산화물의 혼합물일 수 있고, 이때, 상기 금속 수산화물은 금속 산화물 1몰 당 0.01 내지 0.3몰로 포함될 수 있다.
상기 범위를 벗어나, 금속 수산화물이 금속 산화물 1몰 당 0.01몰 미만으로 적은 경우에는, 본 발명이 소망하는 정도의 분리막 열수축 개선 효과를 얻을 수 없다는 문제가 있어 바람직하지 않다.
상기 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물의 종류는, 동일 금속을 포함하는지, 상이한 금속을 포함하는지에 한정되지는 아니하나, 상세하게는 동일한 1종 이상의 금속을 포함할 수 있다. 여기서, 상기 금속은, 고상의 산화물 및 수산화물을 이룰 수 있는 것이라면 한정되지 아니하고, 예를 들어, Al, Ti, Sn, Ni, Mg, Ce, Sn, Sr, Pb, Si, Zn, Zr, Ca 및 Ba로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 하나 이상일 수 있으며, 상세하게는, 상기 금속이 Al으로, 금속 산화물은 Al2O3이고, 금속 수산화물은 AlOOH일 수 있다.
상기 무기물 입자의 금속 산화물의 평균 입경은, 300 내지 500 ㎛ 범위이고, 금속 수산화물의 평균 입경은, 150 내지 400 nm 범위일 수 있다. 이와 같이 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물이 이종의 입경으로 함께 포함되는 경우에는, 동일 면적에 초대한 패키징 할 수 있어 열수축률을 개선시킬 수 있는 효과를 갖는 바, 본 발명에 따른 효과를 얻기 위해서는 금속 산화물과 수산화물 모두를 포함하는 것이 바람직하다.
이러한 상기 무기물 입자의 총 함량은, 유무기 다공성 코팅층 전체 중량을 기준으로 50 내지 95 중량%, 상세하게는 60 내지 95 중량%로 포함될 수 있다.
상기 범위를 벗어나 50 중량% 미만으로 포함되는 경우에는, 고분자 바인더의 함량이 지나치게 많게 되어 무기물 입자들 사이에 형성되는 빈 공간의 감소로 인한 기공 크기 및 기공도가 감소되어 전지 성능의 저하가 야기될 수 있고, 95 중량%를 초과하여 포함되는 경우에는, 고분자 바인더의 함량이 너무 적기 때문에 무기물 사이의 접착력 약화로 인해 분리막 자체의 기계적 물성이 저하될 수 있는 바 바람직하지 않다.
상기에서 볼 수 있듯이, 이와 같은 무기물 입자들과, PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더들을 포함하는 유무기 다공성 코팅층의 구조는, 한정되지는 아니하나, 무기물 입자들이 충전되어 서로 접촉된 상태에서 유기 고분자 바인더에 의해 서로 결착되고, 이로 인해 무기물 입자들 사이에 인터스티셜 볼륨(interstitial volumes)이 형성된 구조일 수 있다. 여기서, 상기 무기물 입자 사이의 인터스티셜 볼륨은 무기물 입자들에 의한 충진 구조(closed packed or densely packed)에서 실질적으로 면접하는 무기물 입자들에 의해 한정되는 공간을 의미한다.
한편, 상기 유무기 다공성 코팅층은, 무기물 입자들, 고분자 바인더와 함께 용매를 사용하여 다공성 코팅층용 슬러리를 제조한 후에, 이 슬러리를 상기 다공성 고분자 기재의 적어도 일면에 도포하고 건조하여 형성할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 고분자 바인더를 그것의 양용매(good solvent: 예를 들어, 아세톤)에 용해시킨 용액에 그것의 빈용매(poor solvent: 예를 들어, 에탄올)를 첨가한 후 다공성 고분자 기재 위에 도포한 뒤 건조시킴으로써 상분리 효과에 의해 다공성 코팅층을 형성시킬 수 있다. 일반적으로, 이러한 방법으로 얻어진 유무기 다공성 코팅층은 우수한 침윤성과 전지 작동시 낮은 저항이라는 장점을 갖는 반면, 전지의 제조과정에서 주액 후 팽윤(swelling)됨으로 인해 접착력이 감소되는 단점이 있으나, 본 발명에서는 전술한 바와 같은 혼합 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더 및 혼합 무기물 입자들을 사용함으로써 유무기 다공성 코팅층을 얇은 두께로 도포하여도 우수한 접착력을 가지며, 단위면적당 최대의 패키징으로 분리막의 열수축률도 개선할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
또한, 상기 다공성 코팅층용 슬러리에는 당업계에서 통상적으로 사용되는 첨가제가 더 포함될 수 있다. 이러한 첨가제는 예를 들어, 무기물 입자의 분산을 더 향상시키기 위한 분산제일 수 있다. 분산제는 바인더 수지 내에서 무기 필러가 균일한 분산 상태를 유지하게 하는 기능을 하는 것으로, 유용성 폴리아민, 유용성 아민 화합물, 지방산류, 지방 알코올류, 솔비탄 지방산 에스테르 중에서 선택된 어느 하나 이상을 사용할 수 있으며, 상세하게는, 고분자량의 폴리아민 아마이드 카르복실산 염일 수 있다. 이러한 분산제의 함량은 무기물 입자들 100 중량부에 대해서 1 내지 10 중량부일 수 있는데, 분산제가 무기물 입자들 100 중량부에 대하여 1 중량부 미만으로 포함되면 무기 필러가 쉽게 침강하는 문제가 있고, 반대로 10 중량부를 초과하여 포함되면 다공성 고분자 기재에 대한 유무기 다공성 코팅층의 접착력이 감소하거나 이차전지 제조시 전해액과의 반응하여 불순물이 발생하는 문제점이 있다.
한편, 본 발명에서 사용될 수 있는 다공성 고분자 기재는 다양한 고분자로 형성된 다공성 필름이나 부직포 등 통상적으로 전지에 사용되는 평면상의 다공성 고분자 기재라면 한정되지 아니하고, 예를 들어, 일반적으로 리튬 이차전지의 분리막으로 사용되는 폴리올레핀계 다공성 필름이나, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트 섬유로 이루어진 부직포 등을 사용할 수 있으며, 그 재질이나 형태는 목적하는 바에 따라 다양하게 선택할 수 있다.
상기 폴리올레핀계 다공성 필름은, 예를 들어, 고밀도 폴리에틸렌, 선형 저밀도 폴리에틸렌, 저밀도 폴리에틸렌, 초고분자량 폴리에틸렌과 같은 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌, 폴리부틸렌, 폴리펜텐 등의 폴리올레핀계 고분자를 각각 단독으로 또는 이들을 혼합한 고분자로 형성할 수 있으며, 부직포 역시 폴리올레핀계 고분자 또는 이보다 내열성이 높은 고분자를 이용한 섬유로 제조될 수 있다.
상기 다공성 고분자 기재의 두께는 크게 제한되지 않으나, 1 내지 100 ㎛일 수 있고, 상세하게는 5 내지 50 ㎛일 수 있다. 또한, 다공성 고분자 기재에 존재하는 기공 크기 및 기공도는 특별히 한정되지 아니하나, 기공도는 10 내지 95% 범위, 기공 크기(직경)는 0.1 내지 50 ㎛가 바람직하다. 기공 크기 및 기공도가 각각 0.1 ㎛ 및 10% 미만인 경우 저항층으로 작용하게 되며, 기공 크기 및 기공도가 50 ㎛ 및 95%를 초과할 경우에는 기계적 물성을 유지하기가 어렵게 된다.
이와 같이 제조된 분리막은, 상기에서 설명한 바와 같이, 양극과 음극 사이에 개재되어 충분한 접착력을 발휘하므로, 분리막의 밀림 현상을 방지하여 양극과 음극 간의 단락을 방지한다.
따라서, 본 발명에 따른 분리막을 포함하는 전지셀은, 특별히 한정되지 아니하고, 모든 형태 및 종류의 전지셀에 적용될 수 있다. 다만, 상기에서 설명한 바와 같이 비정형의 전지셀을 제조하기 위해 분리막의 커팅 공정을 더 포함하는 경우에는, 전극과 분리막 간의 접착력이 낮으면 분리막 커팅 공정시 분리막이 밀리면서 정확한 재단의 어려움이 있고, 커팅시 발생하는 분리막 밀림 현상 때문에 양극과 음극 간 단락이 더욱 심각해지는 문제가 있는 바, 상기 분리막은 비정형 전지셀에 더욱 바람직하게 적용될 수 있다.
구체적으로, 본 발명에 따른 전지셀은, 전극단자의 돌출방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('세로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖거나, 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖거나, 또는 내부에 개구가 천공되어 있는 구조를 갖는 전지셀일 수 있다. 물론, 세로 중심선과 가로 중심선 모두를 기준으로 비대칭일 수도 있다.
이해의 편의를 위해 이러한 구조들의 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 하나의 예들을 도 1 내지 도 7에 도시하였다. 다만, 하기 도면에 도시된 예들에 한정되지 않음은 물론이다.
한편, 상기 전지셀은 이차전지일 수 있고, 상세하게는 상기 이차 전지 중 리튬 금속 이차 전지, 리튬 이온 이차 전지, 리튬 폴리머 이차 전지 또는 리튬 이온 폴리머이차 전지 등을 포함하는 리튬 이차전지일 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 전지셀의 기타 성분에 대해서는 이하에서 설명한다.
상기 양극은 예를 들어, 양극 집전체 상에 상기 양극 활물질, 도전재 및 바인더의 혼합물을 도포한 후 건조하여 제조되며, 필요에 따라서는, 상기 혼합물에 충진제를 더 첨가하기도 한다.
상기 양극 활물질은 리튬 전이금속 산화물로서, 2 이상의 전이금속을 포함하고, 예를 들어, 1 또는 그 이상의 전이금속으로 치환된 리튬 코발트 산화물(LiCoO2), 리튬 니켈 산화물(LiNiO2) 등의 층상 화합물; 1 또는 그 이상의 전이금속으로 치환된 리튬 망간 산화물; 화학식 LiNi1 - yMyO2 (여기서, M = Co, Mn, Al, Cu, Fe, Mg, B, Cr, Zn 또는 Ga 이고 상기 원소 중 하나 이상의 원소를 포함, 0.01≤y≤0.7 임)으로 표현되는 리튬 니켈계 산화물; Li1 + zNi1 / 3Co1 / 3Mn1 / 3O2, Li1 +zNi0.4Mn0.4Co0.2O2 등과 같이 Li1 + zNibMncCo1 - (b+c+d)MdO(2-e)Ae (여기서, -0.5≤z≤0.5, 0.1≤b≤0.8, 0.1≤c≤0.8, 0≤d≤0.2, 0≤e≤0.2, b+c+d<1 임, M = Al, Mg, Cr, Ti, Si 또는 Y 이고, A = F, P 또는 Cl 임)으로 표현되는 리튬 니켈 코발트 망간 복합산화물; 화학식 Li1 + xM1 - yM'yPO4 - zXz(여기서, M = 전이금속, 바람직하게는 Fe, Mn, Co 또는 Ni 이고, M' = Al, Mg 또는 Ti 이고, X = F, S 또는 N 이며, -0.5≤x≤+0.5, 0≤y≤0.5, 0≤z≤0.1 임)로 표현되는 올리빈계 리튬 금속 포스페이트 등을 들 수 있지만, 이들만으로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 양극 집전체는 일반적으로 3 ~ 500 ㎛의 두께로 만든다. 이러한 양극 집전체는, 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 높은 도전성을 가지는 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 스테인레스 스틸, 알루미늄, 니켈, 티탄, 소성 탄소, 또는 알루미늄이나 스테리인레스 스틸의 표면에 카본, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면처리한 것 등이 사용될 수 있다. 집전체는 그것의 표면에 미세한 요철을 형성하여 양극 활물질의 접착력을 높일 수도 있으며, 필름, 시트, 호일, 네트, 다공질체, 발포체, 부직포체 등 다양한 형태가 가능하다.
상기 도전재는 통상적으로 양극 활물질을 포함한 혼합물 전체 중량을 기준으로 1 내지 50 중량%로 첨가된다. 이러한 도전재는 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 천연 흑연이나 인조 흑연 등의 흑연; 카본블랙, 아세틸렌 블랙, 케첸 블랙, 채널 블랙, 퍼네이스 블랙, 램프 블랙, 서머 블랙 등의 카본블랙; 탄소 섬유나 금속 섬유 등의 도전성 섬유; 불화 카본, 알루미늄, 니켈 분말 등의 금속 분말; 산화아연, 티탄산 칼륨 등의 도전성 위스키; 산화 티탄 등의 도전성 금속 산화물; 폴리페닐렌 유도체 등의 도전성 소재 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 바인더는 활물질과 도전재 등의 결합과 집전체에 대한 결합에 조력하는 성분으로서, 통상적으로 양극 활물질을 포함하는 혼합물 전체 중량을 기준으로 1 내지 50 중량%로 첨가된다. 이러한 바인더의 예로는, 폴리불화비닐리덴, 폴리비닐알코올, 카르복시메틸셀룰로우즈(CMC), 전분, 히드록시프로필셀룰로우즈, 재생 셀룰로우즈, 폴리비닐피롤리돈, 테트라플루오로에틸렌, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌, 에틸렌-프로필렌-디엔 테르 폴리머(EPDM), 술폰화 EPDM, 스티렌 브티렌 고무, 불소 고무, 다양한 공중합체 등을 들 수 있다.
상기 충진제는 양극의 팽창을 억제하는 성분으로서 선택적으로 사용되며, 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 섬유상 재료라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌 등의 올리핀계 중합체; 유리섬유, 탄소섬유 등의 섬유상 물질이 사용된다.
상기 음극은 음극 집전체 상에 상기 음극 활물질을 도포, 건조 및 프레싱하여 제조되며, 필요에 따라 상기에서와 같은 도전재, 바인더, 충진제 등이 선택적으로 더 포함될 수 있다.
상기 음극 활물질로는, 예를 들어, 천연 흑연, 인조 흑연, 팽창 흑연, 탄소섬유, 난흑연화성 탄소, 카본블랙, 카본나노튜브, 플러렌, 활성탄 등의 탄소 및 흑연재료; 리튬과 합금이 가능한 Al, Si, Sn, Ag, Bi, Mg, Zn, In, Ge, Pb, Pd, Pt, Ti 등의 금속 및 이러한 원소를 포함하는 화합물; 금속 및 그 화합물과 탄소 및 흑연재료의 복합물; 리튬 함유 질화물 등을 들 수 있다. 그 중에서도 탄소계 활물질, 규소계 활물질, 주석계 활물질, 또는 규소-탄소계 활물질이 더욱 바람직하며, 이들은 단독으로 또는 둘 이상의 조합으로 사용될 수도 있다.
상기 음극 집전체는 일반적으로 3 ~ 500㎛의 두께로 만들어진다. 이러한 음극 집전체는, 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 구리, 스테인레스 스틸, 알루미늄, 니켈, 티탄, 소성 탄소, 구리나 스테인레스 스틸의 표면에 카본, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면처리한 것, 알루미늄-카드뮴 합금 등이 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 양극 집전체와 마찬가지로, 표면에 미세한 요철을 형성하여 음극 활물질의 결합력을 강화시킬 수도 있으며, 필름, 시트, 호일, 네트, 다공질체, 발포체, 부직포체 등 다양한 형태로 사용될 수 있다.
한편, 상기 양극, 음극, 및 분리막을 포함하는 전극조립체가 내장되는 전지케이스는, 내후성 고분자로 이루어진 외부 피복층, 열융착성 고분자로 이루어진 내부 실란트층, 및 상기 외부 피복층과 내부 실란트 층의 사이에 개재되는 베리어층을 포함하는 라미네이트 시트로 이루어진 파우치형 전지케이스일 수 있고, 상세하게는 베리어층이 Al인 알루미늄 라미네이트 시트로 이루어진 파우치형 전지케이스일 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 전지셀은, 또한, 상기 전극조립체 외에 리튬염 함유 비수 전해질을 전지케이스 내에 더 포함한다. 구체적으로, 본 발명에 따른 전지셀은 상기 전극조립체에 리튬염 함유 비수 전해질이 함침되어 있는 구조로 이루어져 있다.
상기 리튬염 함유 비수 전해질은, 비수 전해질과 리튬으로 이루어져 있고, 비수 전해질로는 비수계 유기용매, 유기 고체 전해질, 무기 고체 전해질 등이 사용되지만 이들만으로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 비수계 유기용매로는, 예를 들어, N-메틸-2-피롤리디논, 프로필렌 카르보네이트, 에틸렌 카르보네이트, 부틸렌 카르보네이트, 디메틸 카르보네이트, 디에틸 카르보네이트, 감마-부틸로 락톤, 1,2-디메톡시 에탄, 테트라히드록시 프랑(franc), 2-메틸 테트라하이드로푸란, 디메틸술폭시드, 1,3-디옥소런, 포름아미드, 디메틸포름아미드, 디옥소런, 아세토니트릴, 니트로메탄, 포름산 메틸, 초산메틸, 인산 트리에스테르, 트리메톡시 메탄, 디옥소런 유도체, 설포란, 메틸 설포란, 1,3-디메틸-2-이미다졸리디논, 프로필렌 카르보네이트 유도체, 테트라하이드로푸란 유도체, 에테르, 피로피온산 메틸, 프로피온산 에틸 등의 비양자성 유기용매가 사용될 수 있다.
상기 유기 고체 전해질로는, 예를 들어, 폴리에틸렌 유도체, 폴리에틸렌 옥사이드 유도체, 폴리프로필렌 옥사이드 유도체, 인산 에스테르 폴리머, 폴리 에지테이션 리신(agitation lysine), 폴리에스테르 술파이드, 폴리비닐 알코올, 폴리 불화 비닐리덴, 이온성 해리기를 포함하는 중합제 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 무기 고체 전해질로는, 예를 들어, Li3N, LiI, Li5NI2, Li3N-LiI-LiOH, LiSiO4, LiSiO4-LiI-LiOH, Li2SiS3, Li4SiO4, Li4SiO4-LiI-LiOH, Li3PO4-Li2S-SiS2 등의 Li의 질화물, 할로겐화물, 황산염 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 리튬염은 상기 비수계 전해질에 용해되기 좋은 물질로서, 예를 들어, LiCl, LiBr, LiI, LiClO4, LiBF4, LiB10Cl10, LiPF6, LiCF3SO3, LiCF3CO2, LiAsF6, LiSbF6, LiAlCl4, CH3SO3Li, (CF3SO2)2NLi, 클로로 보란 리튬, 저급 지방족 카르본산 리튬, 4 페닐 붕산 리튬, 이미드 등이 사용될 수 있다.
또한, 전해액에는 충방전 특성, 난연성 등의 개선을 목적으로, 예를 들어, 피리딘, 트리에틸포스파이트, 트리에탄올아민, 환상 에테르, 에틸렌 디아민, n-글라임(glyme), 헥사 인산 트리 아미드, 니트로벤젠 유도체, 유황, 퀴논 이민 염료, N-치환 옥사졸리디논, N,N-치환 이미다졸리딘, 에틸렌 글리콜 디알킬 에테르, 암모늄염, 피롤, 2-메톡시 에탄올, 삼염화 알루미늄 등이 첨가될 수도 있다. 경우에 따라서는, 불연성을 부여하기 위하여, 사염화탄소, 삼불화에틸렌 등의 할로겐 함유 용매를 더 포함시킬 수도 있고, 고온 보존 특성을 향상시키기 위하여 이산화탄산 가스를 더 포함시킬 수도 있으며, FEC(Fluoro-Ethylene Carbonate), PRS(Propene sultone) 등을 더 포함시킬 수 있다.
하나의 바람직한 예에서, LiPF6, LiClO4, LiBF4, LiN(SO2CF3)2 등의 리튬염을, 고유전성 용매인 EC 또는 PC의 환형 카보네이트와 저점도 용매인 DEC, DMC 또는 EMC의 선형 카보네이트의 혼합 용매에 첨가하여 리튬염 함유 비수계 전해질을 제조할 수 있다.
본 발명은 또한, 상기 전지셀을 단위 전지로서 포함하는 전지모듈, 상기 전지모듈을 포함하는 전지팩, 및 상기 전지팩을 포함하는 디바이스를 제공한다.
상기 디바이스의 구체적인 예로는, 휴대폰, 휴대용 컴퓨터, 스마트폰, 태플릿 PC, 스마트 패드, 넷북, 웨어러블 전자기기, LEV(Light Electronic Vehicle), 전기자동차(Electric Vehicle, EV), 하이브리드 전기자동차(Hybrid Electric Vehicle, HEV), 플러그-인 하이브리드 전기자동차(Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, PHEV) 등을 포함하는 전기차 및 전력 저장장치 등을 들 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 전지모듈 및 전지팩의 구조 및 그것들의 제작 방법과, 상기 디바이스의 구조 및 그것의 제작 방법은 당업계 공지되어 있으므로, 본 명세서에서는 그에 대한 자세한 설명을 생략한다.
도 1은 전극단자의 돌출방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('세로 중심선')과, 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 모두 비대칭 구조를 갖는 비정형 전지셀의 하나의 예이다;
도 2는 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖는 비정형 전지셀의 하나의 예이고 이에 맞게 하부 엣지부분들의 분리막을 커팅하는 형상을 포함한 모식도이다;
도 3은 전극단자의 돌출방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('세로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖는 비정형 전지셀의 하나의 예이다;
도 4는 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖는 비정형 전지셀의 또 하나의 예이다;
도 5는 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖는 비정형 전지셀의 또 하나의 예이다;
도 6은 전극단자의 돌출방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('세로 중심선')과, 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 모두 비대칭 구조를 갖는 비정형 전지셀의 또 하나의 예이다.
도 7은 전극단자의 돌출방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('세로 중심선')과, 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 모두 비대칭 구조를 갖는 비정형 전지셀의 또 하나의 예이다.
이하, 실시예를 통해 본 발명을 더욱 상술하지만, 하기 실시예는 본 발명을 예시하기 위한 것이며, 본 발명의 범주가 이들만으로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
<제조예 1>
HFP가 18중량%의 양으로 포함된 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더("HFP18")와 HFP가 5중량%의 양으로 포함된 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더("HFP5")를 1:7.5의 중량비가 되도록 준비하고, 이들을 각각 아세톤에 첨가하여 50 ℃에서 약 12시간 동안 용해시켜 고분자 바인더 용액을 제조하였다. 무기물 입자로서, Al2O3 분말과 ALOOH 분말을 몰 기준 1 : 0.1로 혼합하여 고분자 바인더/총 무기물 입자 = 10/90 중량비가 되도록 상기 제조된 고분자 바인더 용액에 첨가하고, 시아노에틸폴리비닐알코올을 상기 고분자 바인더 용액의 2중량%의 양으로 첨가한 후, 12시간 동안 볼밀(ball mill)법을 이용하여 무기물 입자들을 파쇄 및 분산하여 유무기 다공성 코팅층용 슬러리를 제조하였다.
두께가 9 ㎛인 폴리올레핀 다공성 필름을 기재로 하여, 상기 다공성 필름의 양면에 딥 코팅방식으로 유무기 다공성 코팅층용 슬러리를 2.5 ㎛씩 코팅한 후에 70 ℃ 오븐에서 건조하여 분리막을 제조하였다.
<실시예 1>
양극활물질로 LiCoO2 90 중량부, 도전제로 아세틸렌블랙 5 중량부와 바인더로 PVDF 5 중량부를 혼합하고 NMP(Nmethyl-2-pyrrolidone)에 첨가하여 양극 슬러리를 제조한 후, 이를 알루미늄(Al) 집전체 상에 도포, 건조하여 양극을 제조하였다.
음극활물질로 Graphite 95 중량부와 바인더로 SBR 5 중량부를 증류수에 첨가하여 음극 슬러리를 제조한 후, 구리(Cu) 집전체 상에 도포, 건조하여 음극을 제조하였다.
에틸렌 카보네이트(EC): 에틸메틸카보네이트(EMC) = 1 : 2의 조성을 가지는 비수 용매에 LiPF6를 1M 농도가 되도록 용해한 후, 상기 용액 100 중량부에 대해 중합성 모노머로 trimethylolpropane triacrylate 5 중량부와 중합개시제로 benzoyl peroxide(BPO) 0.15 중량부를 첨가하여 전해질용 조성물을 제조하였다.
제조예 1에서 제조한 분리막을 복수 개의 양극과 음극 사이에 개재시켜 양극/분리막/음극/분리막/양극/분리막/음극 구조가 되도록 적층한 후에 라미네이션 하여 전극조립체를 제조하고, 이 전극조립체에 전해질용 조성물을 주액하고 진공 포장하여 15 시간동안 상온에서 방치하였다. 그 후, 80℃에서 4시간 중합시켜 전지셀을 제조하였다.
<실시예 2>
HFP18와 HFP5를 0.5:7.0의 중량비가 되도록 준비하는 것을 제외하고는 제조예 1과 동일한 방법으로 분리막을 제조하였고, 이를 사용한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 전지셀을 제조하였다.
<실시예 3>
HFP18와 HFP5를 2.0:6.0의 중량비가 되도록 준비하는 것을 제외하고는 제조예 1과 동일한 방법으로 분리막을 제조하였고, 이를 사용한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 전지셀을 제조하였다.
<비교예 1>
HFP18와 HFP5를 0:8.5의 중량비가 되도록 준비하는 것을 제외하고는 제조예 1과 동일한 방법으로 분리막을 제조하였고, 이를 사용한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 전지셀을 제조하였다.
<비교예 2>
HFP18와 HFP5를 8.5:0의 중량비가 되도록 준비하는 것을 제외하고는 제조예 1과 동일한 방법으로 분리막을 제조하였고, 이를 사용한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 전지셀을 제조하였다.
<비교예 3>
두께가 14 ㎛인 폴리올레핀 다공성 필름을 분리막으로 사용한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 전지셀을 제조하였다.
<실험예 1>
실시예 1 내지 3 및 비교예 1 내지 3에서 수득한 세퍼레이터의 두께, 및 접착력을 측정하여 하기 표 1에 나타내었다. 이때, 접착력은 양극/분리막/음극의 단위셀을 제조하여 인장 강도 측정기를 이용하여 측정하였다.

표 1을 참조하면, PHFP high가 적게 함유될수록 분리막의 접착력이 약한 것으로 나타나고, PHFP high 및/또는 PHFP low가 전혀 함유되지 않은 비교예 1 및 비교예 2의 분리막은 매우 모두 함유하는 분리막에 비해 약한 접착력을 갖는 것으로 나타났다.
<실험예 2>
분리막 커팅시 밀림 정도를 살펴보기 위해 실시예 1 및 비교예 1, 2, 3의 전지셀에서 전극의 모양을 하기 도 2와 같이 하여 이에 맞게 하부 엣지부분들의 분리막을 커팅하는 공정을 수행하였고, 이때 나타나는 불량률을 확인하였고, 그 결과를 하기 표 2에 나타내었다. 상기 불량률은 전지셀 10개를 대상으로 확인하였고 분리막의 밀림 현상으로 양극과 음극 사이에 분리막이 개재되지 않아 단락 발생 가능성이 있는 부분이 존재하는지 여부로 측정하였다.

표 2를 참조하면, 실시예 1의 전지셀은 불량률이 0%이었으나 비교예 1 및 2의 전지셀에서는 약 10% 내지 30%의 불량률이 발생하였고, 비교예 3의 전지셀에서는 약 80%의 불량률이 발생하였다. 이는 비교예 1, 2 및 3의 분리막 접착력이 약하여 전극과의 접착이 잘 되지 않았기 때문이다.
이상 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 도면 및 실험데이터 등을 참조하여 설명하였지만, 본 발명이 속한 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 상기 내용을 바탕으로 본 발명의 범주 내에서 다양한 응용 및 변형을 행하는 것이 가능할 것이다.
본 발명에 따른 전지셀은, 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물의 혼합물을 포함하는 무기물 입자들과, 헥사플루오로 프로필렌(HFP) 함량이 높은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP high') 및 HFP 함량이 낮은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP low')의 혼합물을 포함하는 유무기 다공성 코팅층이 다공성 고분자 기재의 적어도 일면에 형성되어 있는 분리막을 포함함으로써, 상기 분리막의 유무기 다공성 코팅층이 다공성 고분자 기재에 보다 얇은 두께로 코팅되더라도 우수한 전극과의 접착성을 나타낼 수 있는 바, 충방전에 따른 전극 간 단락을 효과적으로 방지할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 분리막의 열수축률을 방지할 수 있고, 상기 분리막이 보다 얇은 두께로 제작될 수 있어, 고용량 및 고밀도의 전지 특성 및 전지 안전성을 확보할 수 있다.
더욱이, 상기 분리막이 전극과 충분한 접착력을 가짐으로써, 디바이스의 모양에 따라 전극조립체 자체의 형태를 변화시킨 비정형 전지셀의 제조시, 디바이스의 다양한 형태에 맞게 분리막을 커팅(cutting)하는 공정 중에 분리막이 밀리는 현상을 방지하여, 보다 정확한 재단이 가능하고 밀림 현상 때문에 발생되는 전극 간 단락 또한 방지하여 전지셀의 안전성이 더욱 향상되는 효과가 있다.

Claims (23)

  1. 양극, 음극, 및 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재되는 분리막을 포함하는 전극조립체가 전지케이스에 내장되어 있는 전지셀로서,
    상기 분리막은, 다공성 고분자 기재 및 상기 다공성 고분자 기재의 적어도 일면에 형성되어 있는 유무기 다공성 코팅층을 포함하고,
    상기 유무기 다공성 코팅층은, 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물의 혼합물을 포함하는 무기물 입자들과, 헥사플루오로 프로필렌(HFP) 함량이 높은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP high') 및 HFP 함량이 낮은 PVdF-HFP 고분자 바인더('PHFP low')의 혼합물을 포함하며,
    상기 분리막과, 양극 또는 음극의 접착력은 15gf/25mm 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 PHFP high는 중량 기준으로 8 내지 20 중량%의 HFP를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  3. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 PHFP low는 중량 기준으로 3 내지 15 중량%의 HFP를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  4. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 PHFP high와 PHFP low 간의 HFP 함량 차이가 각각의 고분자 바인더의 중량 기준으로 5 중량% 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  5. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 PHFP high와 PHFP low는 중량을 기준으로 1 : 3 내지 1 : 20의 함량비로 혼합되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  6. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 금속 산화물과 금속 수산화물은 동일한 1종 이상의 금속을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  7. 제 6 항에 있어서, 상기 금속은, Al, Ti, Sn, Ni, Mg, Ce, Sn, Sr, Pb, Si, Zn, Zr Ca, 및 Ba로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 하나 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  8. 제 6 항에 있어서, 상기 금속 산화물은 Al2O3이고, 금속 수산화물은 AlOOH인 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  9. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 무기물 입자들은 유무기 다공성 코팅층 전체 중량을 기준으로 50 중량% 내지 95 중량%로 포함되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  10. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 유무기 다공성 코팅층은, 다공성 고분자 기재의 단면을 기준으로 0.5 마이크로미터 내지 5 마이크로미터의 두께로 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  11. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 다공성 고분자 기재는 폴리올레핀계 다공성 필름 또는 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트 섬유로 이루어진 부직포인 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  12. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 분리막과, 양극 또는 음극의 접착력은 15gf/25mm 내지 30gf/25mm인 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  13. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 전지셀은, 전극단자의 돌출방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('세로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  14. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 전지셀은, 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  15. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 전지셀은 내부에 개구가 천공되어 있는 구조를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  16. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 전지셀은 리튬 이차전지인 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  17. 제 1 항에 따른 전지셀을 단위 전지로서 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지모듈.
  18. 제 17 항에 따른 전지모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지팩.
  19. 제 18 항에 따른 전지팩을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 디바이스.
  20. 제 19 항에 있어서, 상기 디바이스는 휴대폰, 휴대용 컴퓨터, 스마트폰, 태플릿 PC, 스마트 패드, 넷북, 웨어러블 전자기기, LEV(Light Electronic Vehicle), 전기자동차, 하이브리드 전기자동차, 플러그-인 하이브리드 전기자동차, 및 전력저장장치로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 것을 특징으로 하는 디바이스.
  21. 전지케이스; 및 양극, 음극, 및 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재되는 분리막을 포함하고, 전지케이스에 내장되어 있는 전극조립체;를 포함하는 전지셀로서,
    상기 분리막은, 다공성 고분자 기재 및 상기 다공성 고분자 기재의 적어도 일면에 형성되어 있는 유무기 다공성 코팅층을 포함하고,
    상기 전지셀은, 전극단자의 돌출방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('세로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖거나, 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  22. 제 21 항에 있어서, 상기 전지셀은, 전극단자의 돌출방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('세로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
  23. 제 21 항에 있어서, 상기 전지셀은, 전극단자의 돌출방향의 수직방향으로 전지셀의 중심을 지나는 선('가로 중심선')을 기준으로 비대칭 구조를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전지셀.
