また、全スチレンの含有率が80重量%で、ハードセグメントがスチレン単独の重合体ブロックで、ソフトセグメントがイソプレン単独の重合体ブロックで、ブロックの構成がポリスチレン-ポリイソプレン-ポリスチレン-ポリイソプレン-ポリスチレンであるペンタブロック共重合体の水素化物も例示されているが、軟化温度は116℃と記載されており、トリブロック共重合体の水素化物に比較して耐熱性は低いものである。
しかし、この文献には、トリブロック共重合体の水素化物のDSC分析によるTgは125.5℃と記載されており、耐熱性は十分高いとは言えない。
しかし、この文献には、トリブロック共重合体の水素化物のTMAによる軟化温度は128℃と記載されており、耐熱性は十分高いとは言えない。
その結果、ソフトセグメントを構成する芳香族ビニル化合物及び鎖状共役ジエン化合物に由来する共重合体ブロックにおいて、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位の含有率が特定値より多くなると、ブロック共重合体水素化物のTg2が低下し、ブロック共重合体水素化物の成形品としての耐熱性が低下することが分かった。
更に、ソフトセグメントを構成する共重合体ブロックが特定の重量割合の芳香族ビニル化合物と鎖状共役ジエン化合物からなり、ブロック共重合体水素化物を構成するハードセグメントとソフトセグメントの重量割合が特定の範囲にある場合に、機械的な強度と柔軟性を保持し、ハードセグメントの高いTg2とソフトセグメントの適度なTg1を有するブロック共重合体水素化物が得られ、これによりブロック共重合体水素化物の耐熱性が向上すること、及び、このブロック共重合体水素化物を用いて得られた延伸フィルムは、耐熱試験で位相差の低下が小さいことを見出し、本発明を完成するに至った。
〔1〕 芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]を主成分とする2つの重合体ブロック[A]と、
芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]及び鎖状共役ジエン化合物由来の繰り返し単位[II]を主成分とする1つの重合体ブロック[B]と
からなるブロック共重合体[C]を水素化したブロック共重合体水素化物であって、
(i)重合体ブロック[A]の全量がブロック共重合体[C]に占める重量分率をwAとし、重合体ブロック[B]がブロック共重合体[C]に占める重量分率をwBとしたときに、wAとwBとの比(wA:wB)が45:55~65:35であり、
(ii)重合体ブロック[B]に占める、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]の重量分率をw[IB]、鎖状共役ジエン化合物由来の繰り返し単位[II]の重量分率をw[IIB]としたときに、w[IB]とw[IIB]との比(w[IB]:w[IIB])が40:60~55:45であり、
(iii)ブロック共重合体[C]の全不飽和結合の90%以上が水素化されており、
(iv)重量平均分子量が60,000~150,000であり、
(v)動的粘弾性による低温側のガラス転位温度[Tg1]が0℃以上であり、且つ、高温側のガラス転位温度[Tg2]が135℃以上である
ことを特徴とするブロック共重合体水素化物。
〔2〕前記〔1〕に記載のブロック共重合体水素化物からなる延伸フィルム。
本発明のブロック共重合体水素化物(以下、「ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]ということがある。)は、その前駆体であるブロック共重合体[C]の全不飽和結合の90%以上を水素化して得られる高分子である。
ブロック共重合体[C]は、2つの重合体ブロック[A]と、1つの重合体ブロック[B]から構成される。
重合体ブロック[A]は、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]を主成分とするものである。
重合体ブロック[A]中の、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]の含有量は、通常98重量%以上、好ましくは99重量%以上である。
重合体ブロック[A]の芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]以外の繰り返し単位としては、鎖状共役ジエン由来の繰り返し単位[II]及び/又はその他のビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[III]が挙げられる。その含有量は、2重量%以下、好ましくは1重量%以下である。
ブロック共重合体[C]に含まれる2つの重合体ブロック[A]同士は、上記の範囲を満足するものであれば、互いに同じであっても、相異なっていても良い。
重合体ブロック[B]は、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]及び鎖状共役ジエン化合物由来の繰り返し単位[II]を主成分とするものである。
重合体ブロック[B]に占める、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]の重量分率をw[IB]、鎖状共役ジエン化合物由来の繰り返し単位[II]の重量分率をw[IIB]としたとき、w[IB]とw[IIB]との比(w[IB]:w[IIB])は40:60~55:45、好ましくは45:55~54:46、より好ましくは50:50~53:47である。
重合体ブロック[B]中の、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]及び鎖状共役ジエン化合物由来の繰り返し単位[II]の合計含有量は、95重量%以上、好ましくは97重量%以上、より好ましくは99重量%以上である。
重合体ブロック[B]中の、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]及び鎖状共役ジエン化合物由来の繰り返し単位[II]以外の成分としては、その他のビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[III]が挙げられる。その含有量は、5重量%以下、好ましくは3重量%以下、より好ましくは1重量%以下である。
また、重合体ブロック[B]中の、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]の含有量が上記範囲を超えると、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]のTg1とTg2の区別が不明瞭になって1つの低いガラス転位温度(Tg)を示すようになり、耐熱性が低下するおそれがある。
芳香族ビニル化合物としては、スチレン;α-メチルスチレン、2-メチルスチレン、3-メチルスチレン、4-メチルスチレン、2,4-ジイソプロピルスチレン、2,4-ジメチルスチレン、4-t-ブチルスチレン、5-t-ブチル-2-メチルスチレンなどの、置換基として炭素数1~6のアルキル基を有するスチレン類;4-クロロスチレン、ジクロロスチレン、4-モノフルオロスチレンなどの、置換基としてハロゲン原子を有するスチレン類;4-メトキシスチレンなどの、置換基として炭素数1~6のアルコキシ基を有するスチレン類;4-フェニルスチレンなどの、置換基としてアリール基を有するスチレン類;1-ビニルナフタレン、2-ビニルナフタレンなどのビニルナフタレン類;などが挙げられる。これらの中でも、吸湿性の観点から、スチレン、置換基として炭素数1~6のアルキル基を有するスチレン類などの、極性基を含有しない芳香族ビニル化合物が好ましく、工業的な入手の容易さから、スチレンが特に好ましい。
鎖状共役ジエン系化合物としては、1,3-ブタジエン、イソプレン、2,3-ジメチル-1,3-ブタジエン、1,3-ペンタジエンなどが挙げられる。なかでも、吸湿性の観点から、極性基を含有しない鎖状共役ジエン系化合物が好ましく、工業的な入手の容易さから、1,3-ブタジエン、イソプレンが特に好ましい。
その他のビニル系化合物としては、鎖状オレフィン化合物、環状オレフィン化合物、不飽和の環状酸無水物、不飽和イミド化合物などが挙げられる。これらの化合物は、ニトリル基、アルコキシカルボニル基、ヒドロキシカルボニル基、又はハロゲン原子を置換基として有していてもよい。
ブロック共重合体[C]は、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]の前駆体である。ブロック共重合体[C]は、2つの重合体ブロック[A]及び1つの重合体ブロック[B]から構成される。
ブロック共重合体[C]が有する2つの重合体ブロック[A]の重量平均分子量は同一でも相異なってもよい。重合体ブロック[A]の重量平均分子量をMw(A)としたとき、Mw(A)は各々3,000~90,000、好ましくは3,500~80,000、より好ましくは4,000~60,000である。
本発明のブロック共重合体水素化物[D]は、上記のブロック共重合体[C]の主鎖及び側鎖の炭素-炭素不飽和結合、並びに、芳香環の炭素-炭素不飽和結合を水素化したものである。
ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]の水素化率は、通常95%以上、好ましくは97%以上、より好ましくは99%以上である。水素化率が高いほど、成形体の耐候性、耐熱性及び透明性が良好である。ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]の水素化率は、1H-NMRやGPCによるUV検出器とRI検出器とのピーク面積の比較などにより求めることができる。
また、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]の分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は、好ましくは3以下、より好ましくは2以下、特に好ましくは1.5以下にする。Mw及びMw/Mnが上記範囲となるようにすると、成形した延伸フィルムの位相差の変化に対する耐熱性や機械的強度が良好である。
重合体ブロック[B]に占める芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]及び鎖状共役ジエン化合物由来の繰り返し単位[II]の重量分率の比(w[IB]:w[IIB])を40:60~55:45とすることにより、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]のソフトセグメントに由来する低温側のガラス転位温度[Tg1]を0℃以上にすることができる。
本発明のブロック共重合体水素化物[D]を溶融成形する際においては、酸化防止剤、紫外線吸収剤、光安定剤などの安定剤;滑剤、可塑剤などの樹脂改質剤;染料や顔料などの着色剤;帯電防止剤などの配合剤を添加してもよい。これらの配合剤は1種単独で、あるいは2種以上を組み合わせて用いることができ、その配合量は本発明の目的を損なわない範囲で適宜選択される。
本発明のブロック共重合体水素化物[D]からなる延伸フィルム(以下、延伸フィルム[F]ということがある。)は、上記の特定のブロック共重合体水素化物[D]を溶融押出し成形した後、未延伸フィルム(以下、未延伸フィルム[E]ということがある。)を長さ方向及び/又は幅方向に一軸延伸もしくは二軸延伸するか、又は、幅方向に対して所定角度に斜めに延伸して得られるものである。
未延伸フィルム[E]は、本発明の延伸フィルム[F]の前駆体である。未延伸フィルム[E]は、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]のペレットを、押出機によって溶融押出し成形することにより得ることができる。ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]のペレットを、押出機によって溶融押出し成形する前に、通常50~110℃の温度で2時間以上、好ましくは60~100℃の温度で2時間以上、より好ましくは70~100℃の温度で2時間以上保持したものを使用する。ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]のペレットを上記の条件で加熱処理することにより、ペレット中の溶存空気量が低減され、これにより押出しフィルムの厚さのムラやダイラインの発生が抑制され、その後の延伸加工で均等な延伸が可能となる。
加熱処理の温度及び時間が上記範囲を下回る場合は、溶存空気の除去量が少なく、フィルム厚さのムラやダイラインの発生を十分抑止できなくなるおそれがある。一方、加熱処理の温度が上記範囲を上回る場合は、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]のペレットがブロッキングを生じ易くなり、押出し成形に供することができなくなるおそれがある。
未延伸フィルム[E]は、ロール状に巻いて次の延伸工程に供することもでき、また、溶融押出し工程に連続した延伸工程に供することもできる。
本発明の延伸フィルム[F]は、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]を溶融押出しして成形された上記の未延伸フィルム[E]を、該ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]のハードセグメントのガラス転移温度Tg2に対して、好ましくは(Tg2-10℃)から(Tg2+30℃)の温度範囲、より好ましくは(Tg2-5℃)から(Tg2+20℃)の温度範囲にて、少なくとも一方向に1.05~4倍、好ましくは1.2~3.5倍、より好ましくは1.5~3倍の延伸倍率で延伸することにより得られるものである。
(1)押出機によりTダイを通して押出されたシートを、一定温度に加熱した加熱ロールを通過させながら延伸時の温度に保持する。
(2)次いで、一定温度に保持されたシートを、回転速度の比較的遅い第一ロールから回転速度のより速い第二ロールの順に通過させることにより延伸してフィルムにする。この場合、第一ロールの回転速度と第二ロールの回転速度の速度比を制御することにより延伸倍率を1.05~4倍の範囲で任意に調整することができる。尚、加熱ロール、第一ロール、及び第二ロールの間に、赤外線ヒータなどを設置して、シートの延伸温度を一定に保持するのが好ましい。
(3)延伸されたフィルムを、冷却ロールを通過させることにより冷却する。
(4)冷却ロールで冷却された延伸フィルムを最終的に巻き取りロールで巻き取って回収する。この際、フィルム同士のブロッキングを防止する目的で、マスキングフィルムを重ねて同時に巻き取ってもよいし、フィルムの少なくとも一方、好ましくは両方の端にテープなどを張り合わせながら巻き取ってもよい。
また、延伸速度は、好ましくは5~1000mm/秒、より好ましくは10~750mm/秒である。延伸速度が上記範囲にあると、延伸制御が容易となり、得られるフィルムは、例えば、位相差フィルムとして広帯域波長に使用可能となり、さらに面精度や面内レターデーションのバラツキが小さくなる。
例えば、本発明の延伸フィルムをλ/4波長位相板として用いる場合には、波長550nmにおけるレターデーションの値を好ましくは110~150nmとなるように延伸する。また、λ/2波長位相板として用いる場合には、波長550nmにおけるレターデーションの値を好ましくは250~300nmとなるように延伸する。
延伸倍率は、所望の位相差の値と、位相差フィルムの厚みにより適宜選定することができる。
また、本発明の延伸フィルム[F]を偏光板保護フィルムとして使用する場合は、二軸延伸でMD方向及びTD方向の延伸倍率を調整して位相差が10nm以下、好ましくは5nm以下となるように選定することができる。
(1)重量平均分子量(Mw)及び分子量分布(Mw/Mn)
ブロック共重合体及びブロック共重合体水素化物の分子量は、THFを溶離液とするGPCによる標準ポリスチレン換算値として、38℃において測定した。測定装置として、東ソー社製、HLC8020GPCを用いた。
(2)水素化率
ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]の水素化率は、前駆体であるブロック共重合体[C]の芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位に含まれる芳香環の炭素-炭素不飽和結合及び鎖状共役ジエン由来の繰り返し単位に含まれる炭素-炭素不飽和結合の合計に対して水素化された炭素-炭素結合の割合である。
ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]の水素化率は、1H-NMRスペクトル又はGPC分析により算出される。水素化率99%以下の領域は、1H-NMRスペクトルを測定して算出し、99%を超える領域は、GPC分析により、UV検出器とRI検出器によるピーク面積の比率から算出した。
(3)ガラス転移温度(Tg)
ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]をプレス成形して、長さ50mm、幅10mm、厚さ1mmの試験片を作製した。この試験片を用いて、JIS-K7244-4法に基づき、粘弾性測定装置(ティー・エイ・インスツルメント・ジャパン社製、ARES)を使用して、-100℃から+150℃の範囲で、昇温速度5℃/分で粘弾性スペクトルを測定した。損失正接tanδの低温側のピークトップ温度から、ソフトセグメントに由来するガラス転移温度Tg1、高温側のピークトップ温度から、ハードセグメントに由来するガラス転移温度Tg2を求めた。
ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]をプレス成形して、長さ10mm、幅10mm、厚さ3mmの試験片を作製した。サーモ・メカニカル・アナライザー(セイコーインスツルメンツ社製、TMA/SS6100)により、針入りモード用プローブを用いて、荷重5g、25~160℃の温度範囲で10℃/分の昇温速度にて測定した。
(5)フィルムの厚さ
膜厚計(明産社製、RC-1 ROTARY CALIPER)を用いて、フィルムの幅方向に等間隔で5か所の厚さを測定し、平均値をフィルムの厚さとした。
(6)フィルムの面内のレターデーション値(Re)
位相差計(王子計測機器社製、KOBRA-21ADH)を用いて、波長590nmで、フィルムの幅方向に等間隔で5か所のレターデーション値を測定し、平均値を測定値とした。
(7)延伸フィルムの耐熱性
ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]からなる延伸フィルム[F]を、5cm角に切り出し、面内位相差値を測定後、オーブン中で、温度80℃で100時間保存し、その後再びフィルムの面内位相差値を測定した。オーブンに保存する前の面内位相差値を(Re0)、オーブンに保存した後の面内位相差値を(Re)としたとき、位相差保持率(%)を以下の式で求めた。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D1]>
攪拌装置を備え、内部が充分に窒素置換された反応器に、脱水シクロヘキサン270部、n-ジブチルエーテル0.59部を入れ、n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.66部を加えた。
全容を60℃で攪拌しながら、脱水スチレン25.0部を60分間に亘って連続的に反応器内に添加して重合反応を進め、添加終了後そのままさらに60℃で20分間全容を撹拌した。反応液をガスクロマトグラフィーにより測定したところ、この時点での重合転化率は99.5%であった。
(重合2段階)
次に、反応液に脱水したスチレン26.0部とイソプレン24.0部の混合物を、150分間に亘って連続的に添加し、添加終了後そのまま20分間攪拌を続けた。この時点での重合転化率は99.5%であった。
(重合3段階)
その後、更に、脱水スチレン25.0部を、60分間に亘って連続的に添加し、添加終了後そのまま20分間攪拌した。この時点での重合転化率はほぼ100%であった。
得られたブロック共重合体[C1]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は64,600、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=52:48であった。
水素化反応後のブロック共重合体水素化物[D1]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は68,400、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.04であった。
次いで、上記溶液を、円筒型濃縮乾燥器(日立製作所社製、製品名「コントロ」)を用いて、温度260℃、圧力0.001MPa以下で、溶液から溶媒であるシクロヘキサン、キシレン及びその他の揮発成分を除去した。連続して溶融ポリマーを、濃縮乾燥器に連結した孔径20μmのステンレス製焼結フィルターを備えたポリマーフィルター(富士フィルター社製)により、温度260℃でろ過した後、ダイから溶融ポリマーをストランド状に押出し、冷却後、ペレタイザーによりブロック共重合体水素化物[D1]のペレット95部を得た。得られたペレット状のブロック共重合体水素化物[D1]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は67,700、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.05、水素化率はほぼ100%であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D2]>
重合2段階で、スチレンとイソプレンの混合物を反応溶液に連続的に添加する時間を、25分に短縮する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C2]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は64,800、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=52:48であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D3]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)を0.82部にする以外は、実施例1と同様にして重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C3]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は52,000、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=52:48であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D4]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.65部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン25.0部、スチレン22.0部とイソプレン28.0部の混合物及びスチレン25.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C4]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は65,200、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=44:56であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D5]>
重合2段階でスチレンとイソプレンの混合物を反応溶液に連続的に添加する時間を、25分に短縮する以外は、実施例2と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C5]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は62,300、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=44:56であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D6]>
スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン25.0部、スチレン30.0部とイソプレン20.0部の混合物及びスチレン25.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C6]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は64,900、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=60:40であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D7]>
スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン25.0部、スチレン30.0部とイソプレン20.0部の混合物及びスチレン25.0部をこの順に反応系に添加し、重合2段階でスチレンとイソプレンの混合物を反応液に連続的に添加する時間を25分に短縮する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C7]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は65,100、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=60:40であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D8]>
スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン25.0部、スチレン17.0部とイソプレン33.0部の混合物及びスチレン25.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C8]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は63,800、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=34:66であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D9]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.65部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン25.0部、イソプレン50.0部の混合物及びスチレン25.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C9]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は63,300、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=0:100であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D10]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.63部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン30.0部、スチレン21.0部とイソプレン19.0部の混合物及びスチレン30.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C10]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は68,100、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=60:40、w[IB]:w[IIB]=53:47であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D11]>
重合2段階で、スチレンとイソプレンの混合物を反応溶液に連続的に添加する時間を、25分に短縮する以外は、実施例3と同様にして重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C11]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は68,400、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=60:40、w[IB]:w[IIB]=53:47であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D12]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)を0.85部にする以外は、実施例3と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C12]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は52,300、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=50:50、w[IB]:w[IIB]=53:47であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D13]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.63部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン30.0部、スチレン17.0部とイソプレン23.0部の混合物及びスチレン30.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C13]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は67,700、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=60:40、w[IB]:w[IIB]=43:57であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D14]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.63部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン30.0部、スチレン14.0部とイソプレン26.0部の混合物及びスチレン30.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C14]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は67,500、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=60:40、w[IB]:w[IIB]=35:65であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D15]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.63部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン30.0部、イソプレン40.0部及びスチレン30.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C15]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は66,200、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=60:40、w[IB]:w[IIB]=0:100であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D16]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.63部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン30.0部、スチレン24.0部とイソプレン16.0部の混合物及びスチレン30.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C16]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は68,400、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=60:40、w[IB]:w[IIB]=60:40であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D17]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.63部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン40.0部、スチレン3.0部とイソプレン15.0部の混合物及びスチレン42.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、」実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C17]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は68,500、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=82:18、w[IB]:w[IIB]=17:83であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D18]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.63部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン35.0部、スチレン15.0部とイソプレン15.0部の混合物及びスチレン35.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C18]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は68,400、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=70:30、w[IB]:w[IIB]=40:60であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D19]>
n-ブチルリチウム(15%シクロヘキサン溶液)0.63部に変更し、スチレンとイソプレンを3回に分け、スチレン20.0部、スチレン30.0部とイソプレン30.0部の混合物及びスチレン20.0部をこの順に反応系に添加する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C19]の重量平均分子量(Mw)は67,100、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=40:60、w[IB]:w[IIB]=50:50であった。
<ブロック共重合体水素化物[D20]>
スチレンとイソプレンを5回に分け、スチレン26.0部、イソプレン12.0部、スチレン25.0部、イソプレン12.0部及びスチレン25.0部をこの順に、各スチレンは60分間に亘って連続的に反応液中に添加し、添加各イソプレンは30分間に亘って連続的に反応液中に添加し、各々添加終了後はそのまま20分間攪拌を続ける以外は、実施例1と同様にして、重合及び反応停止を行った。得られたブロック共重合体[C20]はペンタブロックポリマーであり、重量平均分子量(Mw)は62,700、分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は1.03、wA:wB=76:24、w[IB]:w[IIB]=0:100であった。
<延伸フィルム[F1]>
実施例1で得たブロック共重合体水素化物[D1]のペレットを、空気を流通させた熱風乾燥機を用いて70℃で、4時間加熱処理を行った。加熱処理により溶存空気を除去したブロック共重合体水素化物[D1]のペレットを、37mmφのスクリューを備えた二軸混練機を有するTダイ式フィルム溶融押出し成形機(Tダイ幅300mm)、キャストロール及びフィルム引き取り装置を備えた押出しフィルム成形機を使用して、溶融樹脂温度220℃、Tダイ温度220℃、キャストロール温度80℃の成形条件にて押出し成形し、延伸はせずに冷却し、変性ブロック共重合体水素化物[D1]からなる未延伸フィルム[E1](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。未延伸フィルム[E1]は、PETフィルム(厚さ25μm)を重ねてロールに巻き取った。得られた未延伸フィルム[E1]の面内位相差(Re)は9nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F4]>
実施例2で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D4]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D4]からなる未延伸フィルム[E4](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E4]の面内位相差(Re)は9nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F10]>
実施例3で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D10]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D10]からなる未延伸フィルム[E10](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E10]の面内位相差(Re)は6nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F13]>
実施例4で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D13]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D13]からなる未延伸フィルム[E13](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E13]の面内位相差(Re)は9nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F2]>
比較例1で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D2]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D2]からなる未延伸フィルム[E2](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E2]の面内位相差(Re)は8nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F3]>
比較例2で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D3]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D3]からなる未延伸フィルム[E3](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E3]の面内位相差(Re)は8nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F6]>
比較例4で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D6]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D6]からなる未延伸フィルム[E6](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E6]の面内位相差(Re)は6nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F7]>
比較例5で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D7]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D7]からなる未延伸フィルム[E7](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E7]の面内位相差(Re)は7nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F8]>
比較例6で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D8]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D8]からなる未延伸フィルム[E8](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E8]の面内位相差(Re)は9nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F9]>
比較例7で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D9]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D9]からなる未延伸フィルム[E9](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E9]の面内位相差(Re)は10nmであった。
<延伸フィルム[F12]>
比較例9で得られたブロック共重合体水素化物[D12]のペレットを使用する以外は、実施例5と同様にして、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D12]からなる未延伸フィルム[E12](厚さ100μm、幅230mm)を成形した。得られた未延伸フィルム[E12]の面内位相差(Re)は7nmであった。
ブロック共重合体[C]中のwAとwBの比(wA:wB)が45:55~65:35であって、且つ、重合体ブロック[B]中のw[IB]とw[IIB]との比(w[IB]:w[IIB])が40:60~55:45である場合に、低温側のガラス転位温度[Tg1]が0℃以上のブロック共重合体水素化物[D]を得ることが可能となる(実施例1~4)。
しかし、ブロック共重合体[C]中のwA:wBが45:55~65:35であって、且つ、w[IB]:w[IIB]が40:60~55:45であっても、芳香族ビニル化合物及び鎖状共役ジエン化合物の混合物を共重合して重合体ブロック[B]を形成する段階で、重合反応溶液中にモノマー混合物を速く供給し過ぎると、Tg1が0℃を下まわるブロック共重合体水素化物[D]が生成する(比較例2、3、8)。
ブロック共重合体[C]中のwA:wBが45:55~65:35であり、w[IB]:w[IIB]が40:60~55:45であって、且つ、ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]の重量平均分子量(Mw)が60,000以上の場合に、高温側のガラス転位温度[Tg2]が135℃以上のブロック共重合体水素化物[D]を得ることが可能となる(実施例1~4)。
ブロック共重合体[C]中のwA:wBが45:55~65:35であり、w[IB]:w[IIB]が40:60~55:45であっても、Mwが60,000を下回る場合は、Tg2が135℃を下まわったり(比較例2)、Tg2が135℃を超えていても、機械的強度が低くフィルムの延伸ができない(比較例22)場合がある。
重合体ブロック[B]中のw[IB]とw[IIB]との比(w[IB]:w[IIB])が40:60~55:45であっても、ブロック共重合体[C]中のwA:wBが45:55よりも少ないwAの場合(比較例15)、あるいは、wA:wBが65:35よりも多いwAの場合(比較例14)、Tg1が不明瞭になりTg2が135℃に到達しなくなる。
ブロック共重合体[C]中のwA:wBが45:55~65:35であっても、w[IB]:w[IIB]が40:60よりも少ないw[IB]の場合、Tg1が0℃に到達しなくなる(比較例6、7)。
ブロック共重合体[C]中のwA:wBが45:55~65:35であっても、w[IB]:w[IIB]が55:45よりも多いw[IB]の場合、Tg1が不明瞭になりTg2が135℃に到達しなくなる(比較例4、12)。
ブロック共重合体[C]中のwA:wBが45:55~65:35であっても、w[IB]:w[IIB]が55:45よりも多いw[IB]で、且つ、重合体ブロック[B]を形成する段階で、重合反応溶液中にモノマー混合物を速く供給し過ぎると、Tg1が0℃を下まわり、Tg2も135℃に到達しなくなる(比較例5)。
Tg1が0℃以上で、且つ、Tg2が135℃以上のブロック共重合体水素化物[D]からなる延伸フィルムは、80℃で100時間保存した後も位相差の値の保持率が高く、耐熱性が良好である(実施例5~8)。
Tg2が135℃以上であっても、Tg1が0℃を下まわるブロック共重合体水素化物[D]からなる延伸フィルムは、80℃で100時間保存した後の位相差の値の保持率が低く、耐熱性が不良である(比較例16、20、21)。
Tg1が0℃以上であっても、Tg2が135℃を下まわるブロック共重合体水素化物[D]からなる延伸フィルムは、80℃で100時間保存した後の位相差の値の保持率が低く、耐熱性が不良である(比較例17)。
Tg1が不明瞭で、Tg2が135℃を下まわるブロック共重合体水素化物[D]からなる延伸フィルム、あるいは、Tg1が0℃を下まわり、Tg2も135℃を下まわるブロック共重合体水素化物[D]からなる延伸フィルムは、80℃で100時間保存した後の位相差の値の保持率が低く、耐熱性が不良である(比較例18、19)。
ブロック共重合体水素化物[D]の重量平均分子量(Mw)が60,000に満たない場合、フィルムの強度が低く、延伸時にフィルムが切れ易く、延伸できない場合がある(比較例22)。
Claims (2)
- 芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[1I]を主成分とする、2つの重合体ブロック[A]と、
芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]及び鎖状共役ジエン化合物由来の繰り返し単位[II]を主成分とする1つの重合体ブロック[B]と
からなるブロック共重合体[C]を水素化したブロック共重合体水素化物であって、
(i)重合体ブロック[A]の全量がブロック共重合体[C]に占める重量分率をwAとし、重合体ブロック[B]がブロック共重合体[C]に占める重量分率をwBとしたときに、wAとwBとの比(wA:wB)が45:55~65:35であり、
(ii)重合体ブロック[B]に占める、芳香族ビニル化合物由来の繰り返し単位[I]の重量分率をw[IB]、鎖状共役ジエン化合物由来の繰り返し単位[II]の重量分率をw[IIB]としたときに、w[IB]とw[IIB]との比(w[IB]:w[IIB])が40:60~55:45であり、
(iii)ブロック共重合体[C]の全不飽和結合の90%以上が水素化されており、
(iv)重量平均分子量が60,000~150,000であり、
(v)動的粘弾性による低温側のガラス転位温度[Tg1]が0℃以上であり、かつ、高温側のガラス転位温度[Tg2]が135℃以上である
ことを特徴とするブロック共重合体水素化物。 - 請求項1記載のブロック共重合体水素化物からなる延伸フィルム。
