Abstract
表示光(L)を出射するディスプレイ(12)と、揺動軸線を中心に揺動可能に支持されてディスプレイ(12)からの表示光Lを投影エリアへ向かって反射させる反射部材(13)と、反射部材(13)に設けられて反射部材(13)を揺動させる駆動機構(14)と、ディスプレイ(12)、反射部材(13)及び駆動機構(14)を収容するケース(11)と、を備え、駆動機構(14)は、駆動部(21)と、駆動部(21)の駆動力を反射部材(13)に伝達する伝達部(22)とを有し、反射部材(13)よりもディスプレイ(12)側における表示光(L)の光路から外れた位置に配置されている。
Description
本発明は、車両のウインドシールドやインストルメントパネルの上方に配置されるコンバイナの投影エリアに虚像を投射し、車両の前景と虚像とを視認することができるヘッドアップディスプレイ装置に関する。
車両のウインドシールド上に虚像を表示させ、車両の前景と虚像とを重畳して視認することができるヘッドアップディスプレイ(HUD:Head Up Display)装置として、液晶表示器と、この液晶表示器が発した表示光を反射させる反射鏡と、反射鏡を揺動させて表示光の反射角度を調整する駆動機構とを備えたものが知られている(特許文献1参照)。
上記のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置が収容される自動車のインストルメントパネル内は、車両のボディ、補強部材、各種メーターなどの構造物が存在する。したがって、インストルメントパネル内でヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の収容スペースを大きく確保することが困難である。このため、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の小型化が望まれている。
本発明は、上述した事情に鑑みてなされたものであり、その目的は、小型化して小さな収容スペースにも設置することが可能なヘッドアップディスプレイ装置を提供することにある。
前述した目的を達成するために、本発明に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置は、下記(1)~(3)を特徴としている。
(1) 車両のインストルメントパネル内の収容スペースに収容されて前記インストルメントパネルの上方側の投影エリアへ表示光を照射して虚像を形成するヘッドアップディスプレイ装置であって、
前記表示光を出射するディスプレイと、
揺動軸線を中心に揺動可能に支持されて前記ディスプレイからの前記表示光を前記投影エリアへ向かって反射させる反射部材と、
前記反射部材に設けられて前記反射部材を揺動させる駆動機構と、
前記ディスプレイ、前記反射部材及び前記駆動機構を収容するケースと、
を備え、
前記駆動機構は、駆動部と、該駆動部の駆動力を前記反射部材に伝達する伝達部とを有し、前記反射部材よりも前記ディスプレイ側における前記表示光の光路から外れた位置に配置されていること。
(2) 上記(1)の構成のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置において、
前記駆動機構は、前記ケースを構成する側壁に形成された凹部または孔部からなる収容部に収容されていること。
(3) 上記(1)または(2)の構成のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置において、
前記伝達部は、前記反射部材の前記揺動軸線に沿う方向の中間部分における前記揺動軸線との直交方向の一方の縁部に連結された伝達アームからなり、該伝達アームが前記駆動部によって直線移動することで前記反射部材が揺動すること。
(1) 車両のインストルメントパネル内の収容スペースに収容されて前記インストルメントパネルの上方側の投影エリアへ表示光を照射して虚像を形成するヘッドアップディスプレイ装置であって、
前記表示光を出射するディスプレイと、
揺動軸線を中心に揺動可能に支持されて前記ディスプレイからの前記表示光を前記投影エリアへ向かって反射させる反射部材と、
前記反射部材に設けられて前記反射部材を揺動させる駆動機構と、
前記ディスプレイ、前記反射部材及び前記駆動機構を収容するケースと、
を備え、
前記駆動機構は、駆動部と、該駆動部の駆動力を前記反射部材に伝達する伝達部とを有し、前記反射部材よりも前記ディスプレイ側における前記表示光の光路から外れた位置に配置されていること。
(2) 上記(1)の構成のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置において、
前記駆動機構は、前記ケースを構成する側壁に形成された凹部または孔部からなる収容部に収容されていること。
(3) 上記(1)または(2)の構成のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置において、
前記伝達部は、前記反射部材の前記揺動軸線に沿う方向の中間部分における前記揺動軸線との直交方向の一方の縁部に連結された伝達アームからなり、該伝達アームが前記駆動部によって直線移動することで前記反射部材が揺動すること。
上記(1)の構成のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置では、反射部材を揺動させる駆動機構を、デッドスペースとなる反射部材よりもディスプレイ側における表示光の光路から外れた位置に配置したので、ケース内のスペースを有効に利用することができる。これにより、反射部材の側部に駆動機構を設けた場合と比較して全体の小型化を図ることができる。よって、大きな収容スペースを確保することが困難な車両のインストルメントパネル内へ容易に収容することができる。
上記(2)の構成のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置では、駆動機構をケースの側壁の収容部に収容することで、ケースの側壁の厚みの分だけケースの寸法を小さくすることができ、全体のさらなる小型化を図ることができる。また、駆動機構の機構部品を側壁の収容部へ直接収容して内蔵することで、機構部品を覆う収容ケースを省略することができる。
上記(3)の構成のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置では、反射部材の揺動軸線に沿う方向の中間部分における揺動軸線との直交方向の一方の縁部に連結された伝達アームを駆動部によって直線移動させる。したがって、反射部材を揺動軸線で揺動可能に支持する一方側の支持箇所に回転力を付与して反射部材を揺動させる場合と比較し、反射部材の捩じれを抑制することができ、投影エリアへ虚像を良好に形成することができる。
上記(2)の構成のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置では、駆動機構をケースの側壁の収容部に収容することで、ケースの側壁の厚みの分だけケースの寸法を小さくすることができ、全体のさらなる小型化を図ることができる。また、駆動機構の機構部品を側壁の収容部へ直接収容して内蔵することで、機構部品を覆う収容ケースを省略することができる。
上記(3)の構成のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置では、反射部材の揺動軸線に沿う方向の中間部分における揺動軸線との直交方向の一方の縁部に連結された伝達アームを駆動部によって直線移動させる。したがって、反射部材を揺動軸線で揺動可能に支持する一方側の支持箇所に回転力を付与して反射部材を揺動させる場合と比較し、反射部材の捩じれを抑制することができ、投影エリアへ虚像を良好に形成することができる。
本発明によれば、小型化して小さな収容スペースにも設置することが可能なヘッドアップディスプレイ装置を提供できる。
以上、本発明について簡潔に説明した。更に、以下に説明される発明を実施するための形態(以下、「実施形態」という。)を添付の図面を参照して通読することにより、本発明の詳細は更に明確化されるであろう。
以下、本発明に係る実施形態の例を、図面を参照して説明する。
図1は、本実施形態に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の全体構成を説明する概略側面図である。図2は、本実施形態に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置が収容された車両のインストルメントパネルの概略平面図である。図3は、本実施形態に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の内部構成を示す模式図である。図4は、本実施形態に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の反射部材及び駆動機構の斜視図である。図5は、本実施形態に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の反射部材及び駆動機構を側面から視た模式図である。
図1及び図2に示すように、本実施形態に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置10は、自動車等の車両Sのウインドシールド1の投影エリアTAに表示光Lを投射し、投影エリアTAに表示情報の虚像を形成するもので、運転者のアイポイント(目点)EPからウインドシールド1を透して視認される車両Sの前景と虚像とを運転者に重畳して視認させるものである。
ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置10は、インストルメントパネル2内の収容スペース3に収容されている。インストルメントパネル2には、リンホース等の補強材4や各種のメーター5等の構造体が設けられており、収容スペース3は、構造体によって囲われている。
図3に示すように、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置10は、ケース11と、ディスプレイ12と、反射部材13と、駆動機構14とを備えている。
ケース11は、合成樹脂等から形成されたもので、このケース11内に、ディスプレイ12、反射部材13及び駆動機構14が収容されている。ケース11の上部には、窓部15が形成されており、この窓部15には、透光性を有する透光板16が設けられている。
ディスプレイ12は、例えば、自発光デバイスディスプレイ、蛍光表示管、ELディスプレイ、あるいはバックライト付きの液晶ディスプレイ等からなるもので、虚像を形成し、その虚像の表示光Lを出射する。ディスプレイ12は、ケース11内における車両Sの後方側に配置されており、車両Sの前方側へ向かって表示光Lを照射する。ディスプレイ12から出射される表示光Lは、照射方向へ向かって次第に広がる。
図4に示すように、反射部材13は、非球面ミラーからなるもので、ディスプレイ12から照射される表示光Lを透光板16を通して投影エリアTAへ向かって反射させる。この反射部材13によって反射される表示光Lは、透光板16を透過し、車両Sのウインドシールド1における投影エリアTAに照射される。反射部材13は、ケース11内における車両Sの前方側に配置されている。反射部材13は、両側部における上下方向の中間部分に、回動軸13aを有しており、回動軸13aを通る水平軸線を揺動軸線として揺動可能に支持されている。
駆動機構14は、反射部材13を揺動させるものである。この駆動機構14によって反射部材13が揺動することで、反射部材13で反射された表示光Lの投影エリアTAへの照射角度が変わり、虚像の視認位置が、運転者のアイポイントEPの高さに応じて変わる。
図5に示すように、駆動機構14は、駆動部21と、伝達部22とを備えている。駆動部21としては、例えば、ステッピングモータ等の各種の駆動モータが用いられる。この駆動部21は、駆動ギヤ31を有している。駆動部21は、給電されることで、駆動ギヤ31を回転させる。
伝達部22は、互いに噛み合わされた複数の伝達ギヤ32を有している。駆動部21側の伝達ギヤ32は、駆動ギヤ31に噛み合わされている。また、反射部材13側の伝達ギヤ32は、反射部材13の一側部側の回動軸13aに設けられた従動ギヤ33に噛み合わされている。伝達部22は、伝達ギヤ32を介して駆動ギヤ31の回転力を反射部材13の従動ギヤ33へ伝達する。
駆動機構14は、収容ケース14aを有しており、この収容ケース14aの内部に、駆動部21の駆動モータや伝達部22の伝達ギヤ32などの機構部品が収容されている。
ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置10では、駆動機構14の駆動部21に給電されて駆動部21の駆動ギヤ31が回転することで、駆動ギヤ31の回転力が伝達部22の伝達ギヤ32によって従動ギヤ33に伝達され、よって、反射部材13が揺動する。これにより、反射部材13で反射された表示光Lの投影エリアTAへの照射角度が変わり、虚像の視認位置が、運転者のアイポイントEPの高さに応じて変わる。
ところで、前述したように、ケース11内において、ディスプレイ12から出射される表示光Lは、照射方向である反射部材13へ向かって次第に広がる。したがって、平面視矩形状に形成されたケース11の内部には、ディスプレイ12と反射部材13との間における表示光Lの光路の側部に、表示光Lが通らないデッドスペースDSが形成される。
そして、本実施形態に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置10では、このケース11内におけるディスプレイ12からの表示光Lの光路から外れたデッドスペースDSに、駆動機構14が配置されている。具体的には、駆動機構14は、ケース11内におけるディスプレイ12からの表示光Lの光路の一側部側において、この光路から外れたデッドスペースDSに配置されている。
ここで、比較例について説明する。
図6は、比較例に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の内部構成を示す模式図である。図7は、比較例に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の反射部材及び駆動機構の斜視図である。

図6及び図7に示すように、比較例では、反射部材13の一側部に、駆動モータや減速機を有する駆動機構35を備えている。そして、この駆動機構35によって反射部材13が水平軸線からなる揺動軸線を中心として揺動する。このように、反射部材13の一側部に駆動機構35を設けた場合では、反射部材13の一側部に、駆動機構35を配置させるスペースを要することなる。このため、ケース11における車両Sの前方側の一側部が側方へ張り出してしまう。
車両Sのインストルメントパネル2内は、補強材4や各種のメーター5等の構造体が存在するため大きな収容スペース3を確保することが難しい。特に、収容スペース3の車両Sの前方側には、エンジンルームと車室とを区画するカウルが設けられている。このカウルは、ボディの剛性確保及び歩行者保護等の観点から形状に制約があり、収容スペース3を大きく確保するために形状を変更することが難しい。このため、特に、収容スペース3の車両Sの前方側を大きく確保することは困難である。
したがって、比較例のように、反射部材13の側部に駆動機構35が設けられてケース11における車両Sの前方側の一側部が側方へ張り出した構造では、車両Sのインストルメントパネル2に収容スペース3を確保することが困難となる場合がある。
これに対して、本実施形態に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置10によれば、反射部材13を揺動させる駆動機構14を、デッドスペースDSとなる反射部材13よりもディスプレイ12側における表示光Lの光路から外れた位置に配置したので、ケース11内のスペースを有効に利用することができる。これにより、反射部材13の側部に駆動機構14を設けた場合と比較して全体の小型化を図ることができる。特に、カウル等が存在するためにスペースが確保しづらい車両Sの前方側に配置される反射部材13側の幅寸法を抑えることができる。よって、大きな収容スペース3を確保することが困難な車両Sのインストルメントパネル2内へ容易に収容することができる。
なお、上記実施形態では、伝達部22の複数の伝達ギヤ32を駆動ギヤ31と従動ギヤ33とに噛み合わせて駆動部21の回転力を反射部材13に伝達させたが、駆動部21の回転力を反射部材13に伝達させる機構は、伝達ギヤ32によるものに限定されない。
図8は、駆動機構の他の例を示す反射部材及び駆動機構を側面から視た模式図である。
図8に示すように、この駆動機構14は、伝達ベルト42を有する伝達部22を備えている。伝達部22の伝達ベルト42は、駆動部21に設けられた駆動プーリ41と、反射部材13の回動軸13aに設けられた従動プーリ43とに掛けられている。そして、この駆動機構14を備えたヘッドアップディスプレイ装置10では、駆動部21に給電されて駆動部21の駆動プーリ41が回転することで、駆動プーリ41の回転力が伝達部22の伝達ベルト42によって従動プーリ43に伝達され、よって、反射部材13が揺動する。これにより、反射部材13で反射された表示光Lの投影エリアTAへの照射角度が変わり、虚像の視認位置が、運転者のアイポイントEPの高さに応じて変わる。
次に、変形例に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置について説明する。
(変形例1)
図9は、変形例1に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の反射部材及び駆動機構の斜視図である。

図9に示すように、変形例1では、駆動機構14の配置側におけるケース11の側壁11aの内面に、凹部または孔部からなる収容部51が形成されている。この収容部51には、駆動機構14が収容されている。
この変形例1によれば、駆動機構14を、ケース11の側壁11aの収容部51に収容することで、側壁11aの厚みの分だけケース11の幅寸法を小さくすることができる。これにより、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置10の全体のさらなる小型化が図れる。また、駆動機構14の機構部品を側壁11aの収容部51へ直接収容して内蔵することで、機構部品を覆う収容ケース14aを省略することができる。
(変形例2)
図10は、変形例2に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の反射部材及び駆動機構の斜視図である。図11は、変形例2に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の反射部材及び駆動機構の側面図である。

図10及び図11に示すように、変形例2では、駆動機構14は、伝達アーム61からなる伝達部22を有している。伝達アーム61の一端は、揺動軸線に沿う反射部材13の幅方向中央において、揺動軸線との直交方向の一方の縁部である下縁に、水平軸線を中心として回動可能に連結されている。伝達アーム61は、他端側における上面に、ラック62を有している。このラック62には、駆動部21に設けられた駆動ギヤ31が噛み合わされている。
この変形例2では、駆動機構14の駆動部21に給電されて駆動部21の駆動ギヤ31が回転すると、この駆動ギヤ31が噛み合わされたラック62を有する伝達アーム61が前後方向へ移動する。よって、この伝達アーム61が連結された反射部材13が揺動する。これにより、反射部材13で反射された表示光Lの投影エリアTAへの照射角度が変わり、虚像の視認位置が、運転者のアイポイントEPの高さに応じて変わる。
この変形例2の場合も、ケース11内におけるディスプレイ12からの表示光Lの光路から外れたデッドスペースDSに、駆動機構14が配置されている。具体的には、駆動機構14は、ケース11内におけるディスプレイ12からの表示光Lの光路の下方側において、この光路から外れたデッドスペースDSに配置されている。
したがって、変形例2の場合も、ケース11内のスペースを有効に利用することで、全体の小型化を図ることができ、よって、大きな収容スペース3を確保することが困難な車両Sのインストルメントパネル2内へ容易に収容することができる。
ところで、反射部材13を揺動軸線で揺動可能に支持する一方側の支持箇所である回動軸13aに回転力を付与して反射部材13を揺動させる構造の場合、反射部材13を揺動させる際に、反射部材13に捩じれを生じさせる力が付与される。特に、反射部材13が大きい場合では、この捩じれを生じさせる力が大きくなる。
これに対して、変形例2では、反射部材13の揺動軸線に沿う方向の中間部分における揺動軸線との直交方向の下方の縁部に連結された伝達アーム61を駆動部21によって直線移動させる構造である。したがって、反射部材13を揺動軸線で揺動可能に支持する一方側の回動軸13a支持箇所に回転力を付与して反射部材13を揺動させる場合と比較し、反射部材13の捩じれを抑制することができ、投影エリアTAへ虚像を良好に形成することができる。
なお、上記実施形態では、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置10として、反射部材13で反射させた表示光Lを車両Sのウインドシールド1の投影エリアTAに照射して虚像を形成するものを例示したが、本発明は、車両Sのインストルメントパネル2の上方側に配置させたコンバイナの投影エリアに表示光Lを照射して虚像を形成するヘッドアップディスプレイ装置にも適用できるのは勿論である。
尚、本発明は、上述した実施形態に限定されるものではなく、適宜、変形、改良、等が可能である。その他、上述した実施形態における各構成要素の材質、形状、寸法、数、配置箇所、等は本発明を達成できるものであれば任意であり、限定されない。
ここで、上述した本発明に係るヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の実施形態の特徴をそれぞれ以下(1)~(3)に簡潔に纏めて列記する。

本発明によれば、小型化して小さな収容スペースにも設置することが可能であるという効果を奏する。この効果を奏する本発明は、車両のウインドシールドやインストルメントパネルの上方に配置されるコンバイナの投影エリアに虚像を投射し、車両の前景と虚像とを視認することができるヘッドアップディスプレイ装置に関して有用である。

- 車両のインストルメントパネル内の収容スペースに収容されて前記インストルメントパネルの上方側の投影エリアへ表示光を照射して虚像を形成するヘッドアップディスプレイ装置であって、
前記表示光を出射するディスプレイと、
揺動軸線を中心に揺動可能に支持されて前記ディスプレイからの前記表示光を前記投影エリアへ向かって反射させる反射部材と、
前記反射部材に設けられて前記反射部材を揺動させる駆動機構と、
前記ディスプレイ、前記反射部材及び前記駆動機構を収容するケースと、
を備え、
