Definitions
- the present invention relates to a photochromic curable composition and a photochromic laminate having a photochromic layer formed using the composition.
- Photochromic glasses are ordinary glasses that are colored and function as sunglasses when they are exposed to light containing ultraviolet rays such as sunlight, and the lenses quickly color and function as sunglasses. Function as. In recent years, the demand for photochromic glasses having such characteristics has increased.
- photochromic eyeglass lenses those made of plastic are particularly preferred from the viewpoints of lightness and safety.
- a compound having photochromic properties photochromic compound
- a method called kneading method and coating method is known.
- the kneading method is a method of directly obtaining a photochromic lens by dissolving a photochromic compound in a curable composition for forming a lens containing a polymerizable monomer and polymerizing the compound (see Patent Documents 1 to 3).
- This method has the advantage that the molding of the lens and the addition of photochromic properties can be performed integrally, but in order to ensure the physical properties such as mechanical strength, refractive index, and hardness of the plastic lens, Since the kind and amount of the polymerizable monomer to be used are limited, there is a problem that the photochromic characteristics (color density, fading speed, etc.) are inevitably sacrificed. Another problem is that it is difficult to develop a sufficient color density unless the amount of the photochromic compound is increased.
- the coating method is a method in which a curable composition containing a photochromic compound is applied to the surface of a plastic lens that does not have photochromic properties and is cured to form a photochromic layer.
- a photochromic lens is a laminated body of a lens base material and a photochromic layer.
- the mechanical strength and refractive index of the photochromic lens greatly depend on the lens base material, so the degree of freedom in selecting the type and amount of the polymerizable monomer used for forming the photochromic layer is great and excellent.
- photochromic properties are easily developed.
- the thickness of the photochromic layer is considerably thinner than the thickness of the lens substrate, there is an advantage that a high color density can be obtained by reducing the amount of the photochromic compound used.
- the photochromic lens manufacturing method has many advantages over the coating method compared to the kneading method, but the coating method has a problem that the thickness of the photochromic layer is limited. That is, the thicker the photochromic layer is, the more the oxygen permeation and diffusion into the photochromic layer is suppressed, and the contact between oxygen and the photochromic compound is also suppressed.
- the coating method when the thickness of the photochromic layer is increased (for example, 100 ⁇ m or more), the adhesion to the lens substrate is lowered and peeling is likely to occur, so that photochromic durability is increased. In reality, it is impossible to improve the situation.
- Patent Document 4 includes 100 parts by mass of a polymerizable monomer component and 0.01 to 20 parts by mass of a photochromic compound, and 70% by mass or more of the polymerizable monomer component is (meth) acrylic.
- a photochromic curable composition is proposed, which is a polyfunctional polymerizable monomer having 2 to 4 groups, of which 30% by mass or less is a monofunctional polymerizable monomer having one (meth) acryl group.
- the methacrylic polymerizable monomer and the acrylic monomer are mixed so that the number of moles of methacrylic groups is 3 to 7 times the number of moles of acrylic groups. Have been used.
- a laminate having a photochromic layer formed using this photochromic curable composition has a high color density, a fast fading speed, and excellent adhesion to the hard coat layer.
- Patent Document 5 proposes a photochromic curable composition comprising a compound having a silanol group, a compound having an isocyanate group, a component that improves adhesion, such as an amine compound, a radical polymerizable monomer, and a chromene compound. Has been. By using this curable composition, a photochromic layer having excellent adhesion to a plastic lens can be formed.
- the photochromic laminates described in Patent Documents 4 and 5 above all have a thickness of, for example, 100 ⁇ m or more by photocuring a thin film of a curable composition formed by spin coating or the like. is not.
- spin coating is not suitable for the formation of thick coatings, and polymerization curing by light irradiation also absorbs light to thick films containing photochromic compounds and cures the deep part of the film sufficiently. It is understood that its application is difficult because it cannot be done.
- a thermal polymerization initiator is blended with these curable compositions, a mold for casting polymerization is prepared using a lens substrate and a mold, and a curable composition having a thickness of 100 ⁇ m or more on the lens substrate surface.
- an object of the present invention is to provide a photochromic curable composition capable of forming a photochromic layer having excellent photochromic properties and durability and excellent adhesion to a lens substrate.

- a polymerizable monomer component in combination with a polyfunctional polymerizable monomer having two or more (meth) acryl groups in one molecule and a monofunctional polymerizable monomer having one (meth) acryl group Further, the above-mentioned problems can be solved by using a polymerizable monomer having an epoxy group and a polymerizable monomer having an isocyanate group in a specific amount ratio as a monofunctional polymerizable monomer. As a result, the present invention has been completed.

- a trifunctional monomer (Xp-2) having three groups and a highly polyfunctional monomer (Xp-3) having four or more (meth) acrylic groups of 0 to 49% by mass (provided that Xp-1 to The total amount of Xp-3 is 100 mass%)
- As the polymerizable monomer component (A) a non- (meth) acrylic polymerizable monomer (Y) whose polymerizable group is a group other than a (meth) acrylic group, 1 to 20 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of monomer (X), (4) Furthermore, a thermal polymerization initiator is included,
- the photochromic laminated body which has a photochromic layer formed from the photochromic hardening body formed by hardening
- the photochromic layer preferably has a thickness of 100 to 1500 ⁇ m. Even when such a thick photochromic layer is formed, the laminate is boiled at 100 ° C. When the operation of immersing in water for 1 hour and then immersing in 0 ° C. ice water for 10 minutes is repeated 4 cycles, no separation is observed between the photochromic layer and the lens substrate.
- the photochromic laminate having the photochromic layer formed using the photochromic curable composition of the present invention on the surface of the lens substrate is excellent in the adhesion between the lens substrate and the photochromic layer, and the photochromic layer is 100 ⁇ m or more. Even when a thick film having a thickness of 5 mm is used, excellent adhesion is not impaired. For example, as shown in the examples described later, a laminate having such a thick photochromic layer is immersed in boiling water at 100 ° C. for 1 hour, and then immersed in ice water at 0 ° C. for 10 minutes. When the operation is repeated, even when this operation is repeated at least 4 cycles, particularly 5 cycles, no peeling occurs between the photochromic layer and the lens substrate.

- the (meth) acryl polymerizable monomer (X) includes a polyfunctional monomer (Xp) having two or more (meth) acryl groups in one molecule and (meth) acryl in one molecule. It is very important to use a monofunctional monomer (Xm) having one group.
- the lens group is maintained while maintaining excellent photochromic properties. It is possible to form a photochromic layer having excellent adhesion to the material. For example, even when the photochromic layer is a thick film having a thickness of 100 ⁇ m or more, it is possible to ensure excellent photochromic properties.
- the polyfunctional monomer (Xp) is necessary for forming a photochromic layer having high film strength, but only the polyfunctional monomer (Xp) can exhibit excellent photochromic properties. In addition, the adhesion to the lens substrate cannot be ensured.
- the degree of molecular freedom of the photochromic compound is extremely low, and its photochromic property is lowered, resulting in loss of photochromic properties, and further curing during film formation. It is considered that the shrinkage is large, and as a result, the adhesion to the lens substrate is also impaired.
- the combined use of the monofunctional monomer (Xm) gives a moderate flexibility to the photochromic layer, thereby increasing the molecular freedom of the photochromic compound in the photochromic layer. It is believed that excellent photochromic properties can be secured, polymerization shrinkage during film formation can be suppressed, and adhesion to the lens substrate can be improved.
- the monofunctional monomer (Xm) and the polyfunctional monomer (Xp) have a polyfunctional monomer (Xp) of 80 to 80 parts when the total amount of both is 100 parts by mass. - the photochromic layer is a thick film having a thickness of 100 ⁇ m or more, high adhesion to the lens substrate can be ensured, so that photochromic durability can also be improved.
- the amount of the polyfunctional monomer (Xp) used is too large or the amount of the monofunctional monomer (Xm) used is too small, the resulting photochromic cured product (photochromic layer) has excellent photochromic properties. I can't demonstrate it.
- the amount of the polyfunctional monomer (Xp) used is too small or the amount of the monofunctional monomer (Xm) used is too large, the adhesion between the lens substrate and the photochromic layer is reduced. The photochromic property will also decrease.

- Curing can also be performed.
- the heating conditions for polymerization and curing vary depending on the type and amount of the polymerization initiator compounded and the composition of the polymerizable monomer component (A), etc., but cannot generally be specified, but generally It is preferable to employ a method of starting polymerization at a relatively low temperature, slowly raising the temperature, and heating at a high temperature just before the end of polymerization (so-called taper type polymerization).
- the polymerization time varies depending on various factors like the heating temperature, and is set in advance according to various factors. Generally, however, the polymerization and curing are completed within 2 to 24 hours. It is preferable to select various conditions.

Abstract
