Abstract
본 발명의 기본적인 개념은, 90% 이상이 폐플라스틱으로 구성되어 있는 쓰레기 섬이 이동하는 경로인 해류 상에 쌍동선체를 계류시키거나 느린 속도로 이동시킴으로써, 쓰레기 더미가 쌍동선체의 선수 쪽으로 유입되도록 하여 이를 분쇄하고, 쌍동선체의 선수에서 분쇄된 폐플라스틱 조각이 쌍동선체의 터널(tunnel) 구조를 따라 선수에서 선미 방향으로 이동하는 동안 밀도 차이에 따라 일차적으로 분류되도록 한 후, 이처럼 밀도에 따라 일차적으로 분류된 폐플라스틱 조각들을 수집하여 이를 다시 좁고 긴 쌍동선체 내부로 이동시키면서 마찰하전(triboelectrostatic)을 이용하여 최종 분류하고, 마지막으로는 이처럼 최종 분류된 폐플라스틱 조각들을 재생 또는 폐기를 위한 팰릿(palet)으로 만들어 육상 시설로 옮기는 것이다. 본 발명에 따르면, 해상에서 쓰레기를 적은 에너지로 효율적으로 수집하고 분류할 수 있으며, 해상의 쓰레기를 포집하여 재생 또는 폐기를 위한 육상 시설로 옮기는 데 소요되는 비용 또한 절감할 수 있어, 시간이 갈수록 악화되고 있는 쓰레기 섬 문제를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있으며, 나아가 해양 환경의 오염과 생태계의 교란을 막을 수 있다.
Description
본 발명은 해양에 투기되는 폐기물로 이루어진 쓰레기 섬(garbage patch) 문제를 해결하기 위한 것으로, 쌍동선체(카타마란, catamaran)를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치와 이를 이용한 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 방법에 관한 것이다.
쓰레기 섬(garbage patch)은 육상과 선박에서 버려진 쓰레기가 해류를 따라 이동하면서 생성되는 것으로 90% 이상이 폐플라스틱으로 구성되어 있는 것으로 알려져 있다(Tamanaha, M. and Moore, C., 2010). 일부 쓰레기 섬의 경우 그 크기가 미국 대륙의 크기에 이를 정도로 크며 잘게 부서진 폐플라스틱 절편이 해양 환경을 오염시키거나 해양 생물에 의해 섭취되면서 해양 생태계의 교란은 물론 어업 자원의 고갈, 오염 등 인간의 삶에도 직접적인 영향을 미치고 있다.
이러한 쓰레기 섬의 문제는, 엄청난 양의 쓰레기가 미국 대륙의 크기에 이르는 광활한 면적 및 수심이 수 미터에 이르는 상당한 깊이에 걸쳐 널리 분포하고 있어 그물 등의 단순 포집수단을 이용하여 수거하는 데에는 한계가 있고, 해상의 쓰레기를 포집하여 재생 또는 폐기를 위한 육상 시설로 옮기는 데 소요되는 비용 또한 과도하여 이를 해결하지 못하고 사태가 점점 악화되고 있다는 사실이다.
본 발명은 시간이 갈수록 악화되고 있는 쓰레기 섬 문제를 해결하기 위해 제안된 것으로, 해상에서 쓰레기를 적은 에너지로 효율적으로 수집하고 분류할 수 있는 장치 및 방법을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
상기한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 본 발명은,
쓰레기 섬이 이동하는 경로인 해류 상에서 계류하거나 이동하는 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치로서,
상기 쌍동선체의 선수에 설치되며, 상기 쌍동선체의 선수 쪽으로 다가오는 쓰레기를 포집하여 분쇄하는 선수분쇄부;
상기 쌍동선체의 터널 구조를 이루며, 상기 선수분쇄부에 의하여 분쇄된 폐플라스틱 조각들이 상기 쌍동선체의 터널 구조 내에서 해류를 타고 이동하다가 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 달라지면서 자연스럽게 분류되도록 하는 밀도기반분류부;
상기 밀도기반분류부에 설치되는 그물형 구조물로서, 상기 밀도기반분류부를 통과하는 과정에서 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 다르게 분류되는 폐플라스틱을 각각의 밀도별로 포집하는 포집부 및;
상기 쌍동선체의 선체 내부 또는 외부에 설치되며, 상기 포집부에 의해 포집된 폐플라스틱 조각들이 진동하는 벨트 위를 이동하면서 마찰하여 서로 다른 전극으로 충전되고 상기 충전된 전극의 차이에 의해 분류되도록 하는 마찰하전식분류부;

본 발명은 시간이 갈수록 악화되고 있는 쓰레기 섬(garbage patch) 문제를 해결하기 위해 제안된 것으로, 해상에서 쓰레기를 적은 에너지로 효율적으로 수집하고 분류할 수 있는 장치 및 방법을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
상술한 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 본 발명은 쌍동선체(카타마란, catamaran)를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치를 제공하는바, 본 발명은 선수분쇄부(40), 밀도기반분류부(50), 포집부(60) 및 마찰하전식분류부(70)를 포함하여 이루어진다. 이하, 첨부된 도면들을 참조하여 본 발명의 구성요소별 기능 및 작용에 대하여 상세히 설명한다.
도 1은 본 발명의 기본적인 개념을 보여주는 것으로, 쌍동선체(30)가 쓰레기 섬이 이동하는 경로인 해류 상에서 계류하거나 느리게 이동하면, 쓰레기(10)가 쌍동선체(30)의 선수 쪽으로 유입된 후 터널 구조를 따라 이동하면서 걸러지고, 최종적으로는 쌍동선체(30)의 선미 쪽으로 쓰레기(10)가 제거되고 깨끗해진 해류만이 흘러나가는 모습을 보여준다.

선수분쇄부(bow crusher)(40)는 쌍동선체(30)의 선수에 설치된다(도 2). 한편, 본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면 쌍동선체(30)는 쓰레기 섬이 이동하는 경로인 해류 상에서 계류하거나 느리게 이동하면서 선수 쪽으로 쓰레기(10)가 유입되도록 유도한다(도 1). 이때 선수분쇄부(40)는 쌍동선체(30)의 선수 쪽으로 다가오는 쓰레기(10)를 포집하여 분쇄하게 된다(도 2). 이 경우, 선수분쇄부(40)에 의하여 분쇄된 쓰레기(10)의 대부분은 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들로 이루어진다.
밀도기반분류부(50)는 쌍동선체(30)의 터널 구조(tunnel between hulls)를 그대로 활용한 것이다(도 1, 도 2). 선수분쇄부(40)에 의하여 분쇄된 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들은 선수분쇄부(40)의 후방에 연이어 위치한 밀도기반분류부(50), 즉 쌍동선체(30)의 터널 구조 내에서 해류를 타고 이동하다가 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 달라지면서 자연스럽게 분류된다(도 2). 즉, 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들은 밀도가 큰 것이 밀도가 작은 것에 비하여 이동 시 가라앉는 수심은 깊어지고 이동거리는 짧아지는 경향을 보이는데, 밀도기반분류부(50)는 이 점을 이용하여 1차로 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들을 밀도별로 분류해 내는 것이다. 이처럼 밀도기반분류부(50)를 통과하면서 밀도가 비슷한 것들끼리 1차로 분류된 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들은 후술하는 마찰하전식분류부(70)를 통과하면서 밀도는 비슷하나 충전되는 전극이 다른 것들끼리 한 번 더 분류된다.
도 3은 밀도기반분류부(50)를 통과하면서 밀도에 따라 분류되는 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들을 포집하는 포집부(60)의 개념을 보여준다.
포집부(60)는 밀도기반분류부(50)에 설치되는 그물형 구조물이다(도 3). 보다 구체적으로, 포집부(60)는 쌍동선체(30)의 터널 구조 내에서 쌍동선체(30)의 선체 표면에 설치되는 그물식 포집장치이다. 이러한 포집부(60)는 밀도기반분류부(50), 즉 쌍동선체(30)의 터널 구조를 통과하는 과정에서 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 다르게 분류되는 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들을 각각의 밀도별로 포집하는 작용을 한다. 이 경우 본 발명의 바람직한 실시 예에서는, 포집부(60)가 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들을 각각의 밀도별로 구분하여 효과적으로 포집할 수 있도록, 포집부(60)가 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들의 수심과 이동거리별로 다수 개가 배치되어 해당 위치에 존재하는 폐플라스틱을 포집할 수 있도록 하였다(도 3).
도 4는 마찰하전식분류부(70)가 설치된 쌍동선체(30)의 구성 개념을 보여준다. 그리고 도 5는 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들이 마찰하전식분류부(70)를 통과하면서 각각 충전된 전극의 차이에 의해 분류되는 작용원리를 보여준다.
마찰하전식분류부(70)는 쌍동선체(30)의 선체 내부 또는 외부에 설치된다. 참고로, 도 4는 마찰하전식분류부(70)가 쌍동선체(30)의 선체 내부에 설치된 모습을 보여준다. 이러한 마찰하전식분류부(70)는 길게 뻗은 쌍동선체(30)의 선체를 따라 설치된 벨트(71)에 의하여 그 주된 작용이 이루어지는바, 마찰하전식분류부(70)는 포집부(60)에 의해 포집된 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들이 진동하는 벨트(71) 위를 이동하면서 상호 마찰하여 서로 다른 전극으로 충전되고 상기 충전된 전극의 차이에 의해 한 번 더 분류되도록 하는 작용을 한다. 이하, 도 4 및 도 5를 참조하여 마찰하전식분류부(70)의 작용에 대하여 보다 구체적으로 설명한다.
도 4에서, 포집부(60)에 의해 밀도별(ρA, ρB, ρC)로 포집된 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들은 각각의 밀도별로 순서대로 마찰하전식분류부(70)로 진입하게 되며, 마찰하전식분류부(70)로 진입한 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들은 진동하는 벨트(71) 위를 이동하게 된다. 도 5에서, 진동하는 벨트(71) 위를 이동하는 과정에서 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들(A, B)은 계속적으로 상호간에 마찰을 하게 되며 그 결과 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들은 밀도는 비슷하나 이를 구성하는 재료가 서로 다른 경우 상호간에 충전되는 전하량의 극성, 즉 전극(charged electrode)에 있어서는 차이(A-, B+)가 발생하게 된다. 이로 인해 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들은 벨트(71)의 이동 끝단에 설치된 전극분리부(charged separator)(72)에 의해 각각의 전극별(A-, B+)로 구분되어 모이게 된다. 도 5의 실시 예에서는, 전극분리부(72)의 극성이 +이므로 전극분리부(72)와 가까운 지점에 -극성의 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들(A-)이 모였고(인력 작용), 전극분리부(72)와 먼 지점에 +극성의 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들(B+)이 모였다(척력 작용). 물론 만약 전극분리부(72)의 극성이 -라면 상기와는 반대의 양상이 나타날 것이다. 이처럼 본 발명에 따르면, 밀도기반분류부(50)를 통과하면서 밀도의 차이에 의해 1차로 분류되었던 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들이 마찰하전식분류부(70)를 통과하면서 전극의 차이에 의해 한 번 더 정밀하게 분류된다.
한편, 본 발명의 바람직한 실시 예에서는, 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들이 마찰하전식분류부(70)로 진입하기에 앞서 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들을 세척하여 염분을 제거하고 건조시키는 세척부(80)를 더욱 포함한다(도 4). 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들의 염분을 제거하고 건조시킨 상태라야 추후 마찰하전식분류부(70)에서의 마찰에 따른 전하량의 충전 작용이 보다 원활하고 왕성하게 이루어질 수 있기 때문이다. 이러한 세척부(80)는 쌍동선체(30)의 선체 내부 또는 외부에 설치될 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 바람직한 실시 예에서는, 마찰하전식분류부(70)에 의하여 최종 분류된 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들을 종류별로 재생 또는 폐기하기 위한 팰릿(palet)을 만드는 팰릿생성부(미도시)를 더욱 포함한다. 이러한 팰릿생성부는 쌍동선체(30)의 선체 내부 또는 외부에 설치될 수 있다. 팰릿생성부에 의하여 팰릿 형태로 만들어진 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들은 쌍동선체(30)에 적재 및 운송되어 이의 처리를 위한 육상 시설로 옮겨진다.
이에 따라 본 발명에서는 해상에서 일련의 모든 과정, 즉 쓰레기(10)를 수거하고, 이를 종류별로 분류하여, 최종적으로는 처리가 용이한 팰릿 형태로까지 만드는 과정을 거친 후, 육상 시설로는 그 결과물(팰릿)만 옮기면 된다. 따라서 본 발명에 따르면, 해상에서 쓰레기(10)를 적은 에너지로 효율적으로 수집하고 분류할 수 있으며, 해상의 쓰레기(10)를 포집하여 재생 또는 폐기를 위한 육상 시설로 옮기는 데 소요되는 비용 또한 절감할 수 있어, 시간이 갈수록 악화되고 있는 쓰레기 섬 문제를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있으며, 나아가 해양 환경의 오염과 생태계의 교란을 막을 수 있다.
나아가, 본 발명의 바람직한 실시 예에서는, 포집부(60)에 의해 미처 포집되지 못한 잔여 폐플라스틱(21)을 회수하는 선미회수부(90)를 더욱 포함한다(도 6). 이러한 선미회수부(90)는 쌍동선체(30)의 선저 선미의 선체 표면에 설치되는 그물식 포집장치이다. 도 6은 선미회수부(90)가 설치된 쌍동선체(30)의 구성 개념을 보여주는바, 선미회수부(90)는 전방의 포집부(60)에 의해 미처 포집되지 못한 잔여 폐플라스틱(21)을 최종적으로 포집하여 회수함으로써 이들이 바다로 다시 떠내려가 해양 환경의 오염을 유발하거나 해양 생물에 의해 포식되어 생태계의 교란이 발생하는 것을 막는다.
한편, 본 발명은 상술한 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치 상에서 구현되는 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 방법을 또한 제공하는바, 본 발명이 구현되는 상황을 단계별로 나누어 구체적으로 설명하면 다음과 같다. 이 경우 본 발명을 설명함에 있어서 상술한 내용과 동일한 부분의 중복적인 설명은 생략한다.
제 1 단계 : 쌍동선체(30)가 쓰레기 섬이 이동하는 경로인 해류 상에서 계류하거나 이동하면서 선수 쪽으로 쓰레기(10)가 유입되도록 유도한다.
제 2 단계 : 선수분쇄부(40)가 쌍동선체(30)의 선수 쪽으로 다가오는 쓰레기(10)를 포집하여 분쇄한다.
제 3 단계 : 밀도기반분류부(50)가 선수분쇄부(40)에 의하여 분쇄된 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들이 쌍동선체(30)의 터널 구조 내에서 해류를 타고 이동하다가 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 달라지면서 자연스럽게 분류되도록 한다.
제 4 단계 : 포집부(60)가 밀도기반분류부(50)를 통과하는 과정에서 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 다르게 분류되는 폐플라스틱을 각각의 밀도별로 포집한다. 이 경우 포집부(60)는 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들을 각각의 밀도별로 구분하여 효과적으로 포집할 수 있도록, 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들의 수심과 이동거리별로 다수 개가 배치되어 해당 위치에 존재하는 폐플라스틱을 포집한다.
제 5 단계 : 마찰하전식분류부(70)가 포집부(60)에 의해 포집된 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들이 진동하는 벨트(71) 위를 이동하면서 마찰하여 서로 다른 전극으로 충전되도록 하고 상기 충전된 전극의 차이에 의해 분류되도록 한다. 이 경우 세척부(80)는 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들이 마찰하전식분류부(70)로 진입하기에 앞서 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들을 세척하여 염분을 제거하고 건조시킨다.
제 6 단계 : 팰릿생성부가 마찰하전식분류부(70)에 의하여 최종 분류된 폐플라스틱 조각(20)들을 종류별로 재생 또는 폐기하기 위한 팰릿을 만든다.
제 7 단계 : 선미회수부(90)가 포집부(60)에 의해 미처 포집되지 못한 폐플라스틱을 회수한다.
이상의 설명은 본 발명의 기술 사상을 예시적으로 설명한 것에 불과한 것으로서, 본 발명이 속하는 기술 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 본 발명의 본질적인 특성에서 벗어나지 않는 범위 내에서 다양한 수정, 변경 및 치환이 가능할 것이다. 따라서 본 발명에 개시된 실시 예 및 첨부된 도면들은 본 발명의 기술 사상을 한정하기 위한 것이 아니라 설명하기 위한 것이고, 이러한 실시 예 및 첨부된 도면에 의하여 본 발명의 기술 사상의 범위가 한정되는 것은 아니다. 본 발명의 보호 범위는 아래의 청구범위에 의하여 해석되어야 하며, 그와 동등한 범위 내에 있는 모든 기술 사상은 본 발명의 권리범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 할 것이다.
본 발명에 따르면, 해상에서 쓰레기를 적은 에너지로 효율적으로 수집하고 분류할 수 있으며, 해상의 쓰레기를 포집하여 재생 또는 폐기를 위한 육상 시설로 옮기는 데 소요되는 비용 또한 절감할 수 있어, 시간이 갈수록 악화되고 있는 쓰레기 섬 문제를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있으며, 나아가 해양 환경의 오염과 생태계의 교란을 막을 수 있는바, 조선해양, 에너지, 환경 분야에 널리 적용하여 그 실용적이고 경제적인 가치를 실현할 수 있는 기술이다.
Claims (10)
- 쓰레기 섬이 이동하는 경로인 해류 상에서 계류하거나 이동하는 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치로서,상기 쌍동선체의 선수에 설치되며, 상기 쌍동선체의 선수 쪽으로 다가오는 쓰레기를 포집하여 분쇄하는 선수분쇄부;상기 쌍동선체의 터널 구조를 이루며, 상기 선수분쇄부에 의하여 분쇄된 폐플라스틱 조각들이 상기 쌍동선체의 터널 구조 내에서 해류를 타고 이동하다가 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 달라지면서 자연스럽게 분류되도록 하는 밀도기반분류부;상기 밀도기반분류부에 설치되는 그물형 구조물로서, 상기 밀도기반분류부를 통과하는 과정에서 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 다르게 분류되는 폐플라스틱을 각각의 밀도별로 포집하는 포집부 및;상기 쌍동선체의 선체 내부 또는 외부에 설치되며, 상기 포집부에 의해 포집된 폐플라스틱 조각들이 진동하는 벨트 위를 이동하면서 마찰하여 서로 다른 전극으로 충전되고 상기 충전된 전극의 차이에 의해 분류되도록 하는 마찰하전식분류부;를 포함하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 쌍동선체의 선체 내부 또는 외부에 설치되며, 상기 포집부에 의해 포집된 폐플라스틱 조각들을 세척하여 염분을 제거하고 건조시키는 세척부;를 더욱 포함하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 쌍동선체의 선저 선미에 설치되는 그물형 구조물로서, 상기 포집부에 의해 미처 포집되지 못한 폐플라스틱을 회수하는 선미회수부;를 더욱 포함하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 쌍동선체의 선체 내부 또는 외부에 설치되며, 상기 마찰하전식분류부에 의하여 최종 분류된 폐플라스틱 조각들을 종류별로 재생 또는 폐기하기 위한 팰릿을 만드는 팰릿생성부;를 더욱 포함하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 포집부는 폐플라스틱 조각들의 수심과 이동거리별로 다수 개를 배치하는 것을 특징으로 하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치.
- 선수분쇄부, 밀도기반분류부, 포집부, 마찰하전식분류부, 세척부, 선미회수부 및 팰릿생성부를 포함하는 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 장치 상에서 이루어지는 방법으로서,상기 쌍동선체가 쓰레기 섬이 이동하는 경로인 해류 상에서 계류하거나 이동하면서 선수 쪽으로 쓰레기가 유입되도록 유도하는 단계;상기 선수분쇄부가 상기 쌍동선체의 선수 쪽으로 다가오는 쓰레기를 포집하여 분쇄하는 단계;상기 밀도기반분류부가 상기 선수분쇄부에 의하여 분쇄된 폐플라스틱 조각들이 상기 쌍동선체의 터널 구조 내에서 해류를 타고 이동하다가 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 달라지면서 자연스럽게 분류되도록 하는 단계;상기 포집부가 상기 밀도기반분류부를 통과하는 과정에서 밀도에 따라 수심과 이동거리가 다르게 분류되는 폐플라스틱을 각각의 밀도별로 포집하는 단계 및;상기 마찰하전식분류부가 상기 포집부에 의해 포집된 폐플라스틱 조각들이 진동하는 벨트 위를 이동하면서 마찰하여 서로 다른 전극으로 충전되도록 하고 상기 충전된 전극의 차이에 의해 분류되도록 하는 단계;를 포함하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 방법.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 세척부가 상기 포집부에 의해 포집된 폐플라스틱 조각들을 세척하여 염분을 제거하고 건조시키는 단계;를 더욱 포함하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 방법.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 선미회수부가 상기 포집부에 의해 미처 포집되지 못한 폐플라스틱을 회수하는 단계;를 더욱 포함하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 방법.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 팰릿생성부가 상기 마찰하전식분류부에 의하여 최종 분류된 폐플라스틱 조각들을 종류별로 재생 또는 폐기하기 위한 팰릿을 만드는 단계;를 더욱 포함하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 방법.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 포집부는 폐플라스틱 조각들의 수심과 이동거리별로 다수 개가 배치되어 해당 위치에 존재하는 폐플라스틱을 포집하는 것을 특징으로 하는, 쌍동선체를 이용한 에너지 절감형 대용량 해양폐기물 수집 및 분류 방법.
