図4には、本発明の実施例3が示されている(切断端面のみを図示)。本実施例においては、ハウジングの軸孔内に設けられた段差面に、密封装置のケースが当接している。なお、本実施例の説明においては、実施例1と同一の構成部分には同一の符号を付して、その説明は省略する。
上記実施例においては、密封装置の適用例として、自動車用のウォーターポンプ10に用いられる場合を例にして説明したが、本発明は相対的に回転する軸とハウジングとの間の環状隙間を密封する必要のある各種装置に提供可能である。特に、本発明は、家電用の装置や、負荷の少ない工業用のウォーターポンプにおける軸封用の密封装置や密封構造として、好適に用いることができる。

Claims (1)
- 軸孔を有するハウジングと前記軸孔に挿通される軸との間の環状隙間を密封して軸方向一方側にある流体が軸方向他方側へ漏洩するのを抑制する密封装置において、
胴体と、前記胴体から軸方向一方側へ伸びるシールリップとを備え、前記軸の外周面に摺動自在に接するゴム状弾性体製の第1シール部材と、
前記第1シール部材における前記軸の外周面と接する位置より軸方向他方側において前記軸の外周面に摺動自在に接する樹脂製の第2シール部材と、
前記胴体における軸方向一方側の端面に接し、前記第1シール部材の軸方向の位置決めをする位置決め部を備える位置決め部材と、
前記第1シール部材、前記第2シール部材及び前記位置決め部材を保持するケースと、
を備える密封装置であって、
前記位置決め部材は、
前記位置決め部の内周側端部の軸方向一方側に、先端におけるエッジ部が前記シールリップの外周面から離間するように外周側に折り曲げられ、かつ、前記先端よりも内周側に位置する部分が前記シールリップの外周面に面接触する折り曲げ部を有することを特徴とする密封装置。
