 この発明は、車両に搭載される空調ユニットであって、空調ケースの内部に形成された空気通路に熱交換器が配され、この熱交換器の下流側にデフロスト開口部、センタベント開口部、サイドベント開口部、及びフット開口部を備えたものに関する。
 特許文献1に示される車両用空調装置は、車両進行方向の前方に配置されるもので、空調ケースの内部に形成された空気通路に、送風機、エバポレータ、ヒータコアが収納されると共に、ヒータコアを通過した空気とヒータコアをバイパスした空気との混合割合を調節するエアミックスドアを有し、このエアミックスドアよりも下流側にデフロスト開口部、センタベント開口部、サイドベント吹出開口部 、及びフット吹出開口部が設けられた構成となっている。
 そして、フットモードのときには、フット開口部から温風が流れ出ると共に、デフロスト開口部からデフロスト吹出口を介して温風が吹き出され、且つサイドベント開口部からサイドベント吹出口を介して温風が吹き出されることにより、車両の車室内の前方且つ左右端側の窓ガラスの曇り防止が図られるようになっている。
 また、特許文献1に他の構成例として示される車両用空調装置は、センタベント開口部とデフロスト開口部とを切り換えるためのデフベント用モードドアと、センタベント開口部を開閉するためのベント用モードドアとを有した構成となっている。

 特許文献1に示されるような車両用空調装置にあっては、フットモードのとき、車室内の左右端側よりも車両進行方向の前方の窓ガラスの曇り防止を優先する観点から、サイドベント吹出口から送り出される空気の風量よりもデフロスト吹出口から送り出される空気の風量を多くするよう設定されていた。そして、サイドベント開口部を経てサイドベント吹出口から送り出される空気の風量は、吹き出されてさえいれば良いとされており、その空気の風量は特に調整されていなかった。
 しかし、サイドベント吹出口から送り出される空気の量を従来よりも多くして、車両の車室内の左右端側の窓ガラスの曇りを確実に防止したいとの要請が増えている。そして、デフロスト吹出口から送り出される空気の風量よりも、むしろサイドベント吹出口から送り出される空気の風量の方を多くすることのできる車両用空調装置が求められる場合がある。
 このため、空調ユニットのサイドベント開口部からサイドベント吹出口までの通風断面積を従来よりも増やすことで、サイドベント吹出口から吹出す風量を増加することが考えられる。しかしながら、空調ユニットの開口部から吹出口までのダクトの距離はデフロストの方がサイドベントよりも短く、またダクトの通風断面積もデフロストの方がサイドベントよりも大きいことが一般的であり、単に空調ユニットのサイドベント開口部からサイドベント吹出口までの通風断面積を従来よりも増やすだけではデフロスト吹出口から送り出される空気の風量よりもサイドベント吹出口から送り出される空気の風量の方を多くするとの要求事項を満たすことは困難である。
 一方、近年において、車両の小型化、燃費の向上等から、車両用空調装置の軽量化が要請されるようになってきている。
 そこで、本発明は、車両用空調ユニットの軽量化を図ったうえで、フットモードのときに、サイドベント開口部から送り出される空気の風量をデフロスト開口部から送り出される空気の風量よりも増大させて、車室内の左右端側の窓ガラスの曇りも効果的に防止することができる車両用空調ユニットを提供することを目的とする。
 この発明に係る車両用空調ユニットは、空気通路を内部に有する空調ケースと、前記空気通路内に配置され、前記空気通路を流れる空気と熱の交換を行う熱交換器と、前記空調ケース内に配置された前記熱交換器の下流側に設けられたセンタベント開口部と、前記センタベント開口部の車両左右方向の右側および/または左側に設けられたサイドベント開口部と、前記センタベント開口部の車両前後方向の前側に設けられたデフロスト開口部と、前記センタベント開口部の車両上下方向の下側に設けられたフット開口部と、を備え、前記空気通路は、前記熱交換器を通過した空気を前記センタベント開口部、前記サイドベント開口部、及び前記デフロスト開口部に導く第1通路と、前記第1通路から分岐され、前記熱交換器を通過した空気を前記フット開口部に導く第2通路と、を有し、前記第2通路への分岐位置には、前記熱交換器を通過した空気を前記第1通路と前記第2通路とに振り分ける第1ドアが配置され、前記第1ドアの下流側には、前記第1通路と前記第2通路とを連通する第1供給路が備えられ、この第1供給路は前記第1ドアにより開閉されるものであり、前記第1通路には、前記第1供給路よりも下流側に、前記熱交換器を通過した空気を前記センタベント開口部と前記デフロスト開口部とに振り分ける第2ドアが配置されている車両用空調ユニットにおいて、フットモードのとき、前記第1ドアは、前記第1通路を閉じると共に、前記第1供給路を開き、前記第2ドアは、前記センタベント開口部を閉じると共に、入口が前記第1供給路の延伸方向に位置し出口が前記サイドベント開口部に連通する第2供給路を形成することを特徴としている(請求項1)。ここで、センタベント開口部とサイドベント開口部とは、サイドベント開口部、センタベント開口部、サイドベント開口部の順で隣接していても、センタベント開口部、サイドベント開口部、センタベント開口部の順で隣接していても良い。そして、フット開口部は、そのまま車室内に開口するフット吹出口として機能しても、ダクトを介してフット吹出口と接続されても良い。熱交換器は、下記において加熱用熱交換器であることを特定する場合を除き、加熱用熱交換器であっても冷却用熱交換器であっても良い。
 これにより、第2ドアがデフロスト開口部を開閉するドアとベント開口部を開閉するドアとを統合したものとなるで、ドアの部品点数が削減され、車両用空調ユニットの重量も相対的に軽減される。
 また、フットモードのとき、第1ドアが第1通路を閉じるので、熱交換器を通過する空気が第2通路に振り分けられる。そして、第1供給路を開くので、第2通路に振り分けられた空気の一部は、第1供給路を経て第1通路へ流れることができる。
 さらに、フットモードのとき、第2ドアがセンタベント開口部を閉じるので、第1供給路を経て第1通路へ流れた空気は、センタベント開口部を経てセンタベント吹出口へ流れることが防止される。そして、第2ドアがセンタベント開口部を閉じるとデフロスト開口部を開くことになるので、第1供給路を経て第1通路へ流れた空気は、デフロスト開口部を経てデフロスト吹出口へ流れることができる。
 このとき、第2ドアは、入口が前記第1供給路の延伸方向に位置し出口が前記サイドベント開口部に連通する第2供給路を形成するので、第1供給路を経て第1通路に流れた空気の多くを、サイドベント開口部を経てサイドベント吹出口へ流すことができる。
 具体的には、前記第1ドアは、前記空調ケースに回転可能に支持された回転軸と、前記回転軸から延びる第1閉塞部と、前記回転軸から前記第1閉塞部とは異なる方向に延びる第2閉塞部と、を有するバタフライ式ドアであり、フットモードのとき、前記第1閉塞部は前記第1通路を閉じ、前記第2閉塞部は前記第1供給路を開くよう構成すると良い(請求項2)。
 前記第1ドアは、さらに、前記回転軸から前記第1閉塞部及び前記第2閉塞部の双方とは異なる方向に延びる第3閉塞部を有し、前記第3閉塞部の前記回転軸の軸方向に沿う方向の長さは、前記第1供給路の前記回転軸の軸方向に沿う方向の長さよりも短く、フットモードのとき、前記第3閉塞部は、前記第1供給路を部分的に閉じることを特徴としている(請求項3)。これにより、フットモードのとき、前記第3閉塞部は、第1供給路を部分的に閉じるので、第1供給路の出口を任意の位置に容易に形成することが可能となり、設計の自由度を向上させることができる。
 これに対し、前記第1ドアは、前記空調ケースに回転可能に支持された回転軸と、前記回転軸から延びる第1閉塞部と、前記回転軸から前記第1閉塞部とは異なる方向に延びる第2閉塞部と、前記第1閉塞部と前記第2閉塞部とを円弧状に接続する外周壁面と、前記第2閉塞部の一部及び前記外周壁面の一部を切り抜いて形成される凹部と、を有するロータリー式ドアであり、フットモードのとき、前記第1閉塞部と第2閉塞部とは前記第1通路を閉じ、前記凹部は前記第1供給路に位置することを特徴とするものであっても良い(請求項4)。これにより、フットモードのとき、第1閉塞部と第2閉塞部とが第1通路を閉じ、凹部が第1供給路に位置するので、第1通路を閉じていても、第2通路に振り分けられた空気の一部は、第1供給路に位置する凹部を経て、第1通路へと流れることができる。
 ここで、デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、前記第1ドアは、前記第2通路を閉じると共に、前記第1供給路を閉じることを特徴としている(請求項7)。これにより、デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、第1ドアが第2通路を閉じるので、熱交換器を通過した空気が第1通路に振り分けられる。また、第1ドアは第1供給路を閉じるので、第1通路に振り分けられた空気が第1供給路を経由して第2通路に流れることも防止でき、フット開口部を経てフット吹出口へ空気が流れることを確実に防止することができる。
 より詳述すると、前記第1ドアは、前記バタフライ式ドアであって、デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、前記第1閉塞部は前記第2通路を閉じ、前記第2閉塞部は前記第1供給路を閉じることを特徴としている(請求項8)。これにより、デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、第1閉塞部が第2通路を開くので、熱交換器を通過した空気が第1通路に振り分けられる。更に、このデフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、第2閉塞部は第1供給路を閉じるので、第1通路に振り分けられた空気が第1供給路を経由して第2通路に流れることも防止でき、フット開口部を経てフット吹出口へ空気が流れることを確実に防止することができる。
 また、前記第1ドアは、前記ロータリー式ドアであって、デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、前記第1閉塞部及び前記第2閉塞部は前記第2通路を閉じ、前記第1閉塞部は前記第1供給路を閉じることを特徴としている(請求項9)。これにより、デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、第1閉塞部及び第2閉塞部が第2通路を閉じるので、熱交換器を通過した空気が第1通路に振り分けられる。また、第1閉塞部は第1供給路を閉じるので、第1通路に振り分けられた空気が第1供給路を経由して第2通路に流れることも防止でき、フット開口部を経てフット吹出口へ空気が流れることを確実に防止することができる。
 前記第2ドアは、前記空調ケースに回転可能に支持された回転軸と、前記回転軸から延びる第4閉塞部と、を有するドアであり、前記第4閉塞部は、前記センタベント開口部を閉塞可能なセンタベント閉塞部と、前記センタベント閉塞部に対して前記回転軸の周方向にずれた段差を有する段差部と、を備え、フットモードのとき、前記センタベント閉塞部は前記センタベント開口部を閉じ、前記段差部は前記サイドベント開口部の上流側に位置して前記第2供給路を形成することを特徴としている(請求項5)。これにより、第4閉塞部はセンタベント閉塞部と段差部とを備えるので、センタベント開口部の第2ドア側の開口端とサイドベント開口部の第2ドア側の開口端とが同一平面上にある場合、フットモードのとき、すなわちセンタベント閉塞部がセンタベント開口部を閉じるとき、段差部はサイドベント開口部の上流側に位置しているのでサイドベント開口部を閉じず、第2供給路を形成するから、第1供給路から吹き出された空気の多くをサイドベント開口部へ導くことができる。
 これに対し、前記第2ドアは、前記空調ケースに回転可能に支持された回転軸と、前記回転軸から延びる第4閉塞部と、を有するドアであり、前記サイドベント開口部は、前記センタベント開口部よりも前記熱交換器の下流側にあり、フットモードのとき、前記第4閉塞部は前記センタベント開口部を閉じると共に、前記サイドベント開口部の上流側に位置して前記第2供給路を形成することを特徴としても良い(請求項6)。これにより、サイドベント開口部は、センタベント開口部よりも熱交換器の下流側にあるので、フットモードのとき、すなわち第4閉塞部がセンタベント開口部を閉じるときでも、サイドベント開口部の上流側に位置しているのでサイドベント開口部は閉じず、第2供給路を形成するから、第1供給路から吹き出された空気の多くをサイドベント開口部へ導くことができる。
 ここで、前記第2ドアは、前記センタベント閉塞部と前記段差部とを備えた前記第4閉塞部を有するドアであって、デフロストモードまたはデフフットモードのとき、前記センタベント閉塞部は前記センタベント開口部を閉じ、前記段差部は前記サイドベント開口部の上流側に位置して前記第2供給路を形成し、ベントモードまたはバイレベルモードのとき、前記第4閉塞部は前記デフロスト開口部を閉じることを特徴としても良い(請求項10)。これにより、第2ドアの第4閉塞部はセンタベント閉塞部と段差部とを備えており、センタベント開口部の第2ドア側の開口端とサイドベント開口部の第2ドア側の開口端とが同一平面上にある場合、デフロストまたはデフフットモードのとき、すなわちセンタベント閉塞部がセンタベント開口部を閉じるとき、段差部はサイドベント開口部から離れた位置にあるのでサイドベント開口部を閉じず、第2供給路を容易に形成することができる。このため、第1通路へ流れた空気は、サイドベント開口部を経てサイドベント吹出口へ流れることができるので、車室内の前方且つ左右端側の窓ガラスの曇りを効果的に防止することが可能である。
 また、前記第2ドアは、第4閉塞部を有するドアであると共に、前記サイドベント開口部は、前記センタベント開口部よりも前記熱交換器の下流側にあり、デフロストモードまたはデフフットモードのとき、第4閉塞部は前記センタベント開口部を閉じると共に、前記サイドベント開口部の上流側に位置して前記第2供給路を形成し、ベントモードまたはバイレベルモードのとき、前記第4閉塞部は前記デフロスト開口部を閉じることを特徴としても良い(請求項11)。これにより、サイドベント開口部は、センタベント開口部よりも熱交換器の下流側にあるので、デフロストモード、またはデフフットモードのとき、すなわち第4閉塞部がセンタベント開口部を閉じるとき、サイドベント開口部を閉じず、第2供給路を容易に形成することができる。このため、第1通路へ流れた空気は、サイドベント開口部を経てサイドベント吹出口へ流れることができるので、車室内の前方且つ左右端側の窓ガラスの曇りを効果的に防止することが可能である。
 そして、前記熱交換器は、前記空気通路内の空気を加熱する加熱用熱交換器であることを特徴とする(請求項12)。この加熱用熱交換器よりも空気通路の上流側に冷却用熱交換器が配置される場合と、この加熱用熱交換器のみが収納される場合とがある。これにより、熱交換器は、空気通路内の空気を加熱する加熱用熱交換器であるので、窓が曇りやすい寒い時期でも、窓晴れ性をより確実に確保することができる。
 また、前記第1供給路はトンネル状であるようにしても良い(請求項13)。第1供給路はトンネル状であるので、フットモードのときに、第1供給路を流れた空気は該トンネルで流れる方向が整えられ、より確実に第2供給路に向けて吹き出ることができる。
 以上のように、本発明によれば、フットモードのとき、第1ドアが第1通路を閉じるので、熱交換器を通過する空気が第2通路に振り分けられる。そして、フットモードのとき、第1ドアが第1供給路を開き、この第1供給路は第1通路と第2通路とを連通しているので、第2通路に振り分けられた空気の一部は、第1供給路を経て第1通路へ流れることができる。
 また、フットモードのとき、第2ドアがセンタベント開口部を閉じるので、第1通路を経て第1供給路へ流れた空気は、センタベント開口部を経てセンタベント吹出口へ流れることが防止される。そして、第2ドアがデフロスト開口部を開くので、第1通路へ流れた空気は、デフロスト開口部を経てデフロスト吹出口へ流れることができる。更には、フットモードのとき、第2ドアは、入口が前記第1供給路の延伸方向に位置し出口が前記サイドベント開口部に連通する第2供給路を形成するので、第1供給路を経て第1通路に流れた空気の多くを、サイドベント開口部を経てサイドベント吹出口へ流すことができる。
 よって、フットモードのときに、センタベント開口部を経てセンタベント吹出口に空気が流れることを防止しつつ、デフロスト開口部を経てデフロスト吹出口に向けて空気を流すと共にサイドベント開口部を経てサイドベント吹出口に向けて空気を流すことができる上に、デフロスト開口部を経てデフロスト吹出口に送られる空気よりもサイドベント開口部を経てサイドベント吹出口に送られる空気の流量を多くすることができるので、車室内の前方且つ左右端側の窓ガラスの曇りを効果的に防止することが可能である。
 そして、第2ドアがデフロスト開口部を開閉するドアとベント開口部を開閉するドアとを統合したものとなるで、ドアの部品点数が削減され、車両用空調ユニットの重量も相対的に軽減される。
 特に請求項3に記載の発明によれば、フットモードのとき、第1ドアの第3閉塞部は、第1供給路を部分的に閉じるので、第1供給路の出口を任意の位置に容易に形成することが可能となり、設計の自由度を向上させることができる。
 特に請求項4に記載の発明によれば、フットモードのとき、第1ドアの第1閉塞部と第2閉塞部とが第1通路を閉じ、第1ドアの凹部が第1供給路に位置して第1供給路を開くから、第1通路を閉じていても、第2通路に振り分けられた空気の一部を、第1通路へと流すことができる。
 特に請求項5に記載の発明によれば、第2ドアの第4閉塞部はセンタベント閉塞部と段差部とを備えるので、センタベント開口部の第2ドア側の開口端とサイドベント開口部の第2ドア側の開口端とが同一平面上にある場合、フットモードのとき、すなわち第4閉塞部がセンタベント閉塞部を閉じるとき第2ドアの段差部はサイドベント開口部の上流側に位置しているのでサイドベント開口部を閉じず、第2供給路を容易に形成することができる。
 特に請求項6に記載の発明によれば、サイドベント開口部は、センタベント開口部よりも熱交換器の下流側にあるので、フットモードのとき、すなわち第2ドアの第4閉塞部がセンタベント開口部を閉じるときでも、サイドベント開口部は閉じず、第2供給路を容易に形成することができる。
 特に請求項7に記載の発明によれば、デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、第1ドアが第2通路を閉じるので、熱交換器を通過した空気が第1通路に振り分けられる。また、第1ドアは第1供給路を閉じるので、第1通路に振り分けられた空気が第1供給路を経由して第2通路に流れることも防止でき、フット開口部を経てフット吹出口へ空気が流れることを確実に防止することができる。
 特に請求項8に記載の発明によれば、第1ドアが請求項2又は請求項3に記載のバタフライ式ドアの場合には、デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、第1閉塞部が第2通路を閉じるので、熱交換器を通過した空気が第1通路に振り分けられる。更に、このデフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、第2閉塞部又は第2閉塞部と第3閉塞部とは第1供給路を閉じるので、第1通路に振り分けられた空気が第1供給路を経由して第2通路に流れることも防止でき、フット開口部を経てフット吹出口へ空気が流れることを確実に防止することができる。
 特に請求項9に記載の発明によれば、第1ドアが請求項4に記載のロータリー式ドアの場合には、デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、第1閉塞部及び第2閉塞部が第2通路を閉じるので、熱交換器を通過した空気が第1通路に振り分けられる。更に、このデフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、第1閉塞部は第1供給路を閉じるので、第1通路に振り分けられた空気が第1供給路を経由して第2通路に空気が流れることも防止でき、フット開口部を経てフット吹出口へ空気が流れることを確実に防止することができる。
 特に請求項10に記載の発明によれば、第2ドアの第4閉塞部はセンタベント閉塞部と段差部とを備えており、センタベント開口部の第2ドア側の開口端とサイドベント開口部の第2ドア側の開口端とが同一平面上にある場合、デフロストまたはデフフットモードのとき、すなわち第4閉塞部がセンタベント閉塞部を閉じるとき、段差部はサイドベント開口部から離れた位置にあるのでサイドベント開口部を閉じず、第2供給路を容易に形成することができる。このため、第1通路へ流れた空気は、サイドベント開口部を経てサイドベント吹出口へ流れることができるので、車室内の前方且つ左右端側の窓ガラスの曇りを効果的に防止することが可能である。
 特に請求項11に記載の発明によれば、サイドベント開口部は、センタベント開口部よりも熱交換器の下流側にあるので、デフロストモード、またはデフフットモードのとき、すなわち第4閉塞部がセンタベント開口部を閉じるとき、サイドベント開口部を閉じず、第2供給路を容易に形成することができる。このため、第1通路へ流れた空気は、サイドベント開口部を経てサイドベント吹出口へ流れることができるので、車室内の前方且つ左右端側の窓ガラスの曇りを効果的に防止することが可能である。
 特に請求項12に記載の発明によれば、熱交換器は、空気通路内の空気を加熱する加熱用熱交換器であるので、窓が曇りやすい寒い時期でも、窓晴れ性をより確実に確保することができる。
 特に請求項13に記載の発明によれば、第1供給路はトンネル状であるので、フットモードのときに、第1供給路を流れた空気は該トンネルで流れる方向が整えられ、より確実に第2供給路に向けて吹き出ることができる。

 以下、この発明の実施形態について添付図面を参照しながら説明する。
 図1から図8において、車両に搭載される車両用空調ユニット1の実施例1が示されている。この車両用空調ユニット1は、図示しない送風ユニットと車両左右方向に沿った方向で接合されている。送風ユニットは、例えば車室内の空気を導入するための内気導入口と、車外の空気を導入するための外気導入口と、車両用空調ユニット1側に送風するための送風口とが開口した送風ユニットケースと、この送風ユニットケース内に収納された内外気切換ドア及び送風機とによって構成されている。
 車両用空調ユニット1は、図4から図8に示されるように、空気通路3が内部に形成された空調ケース2を有している。そして、空気通路3は、図示しない空気取入口がその最上流側に設けられており、送風ユニットから送られた空気が空気取入口より空気通路3に流入するようになっている。
 空気通路3の相対的に上流側にはエバポレータ等の冷却用熱交換器4が配置されている。冷却用熱交換器4は空気通路3の流路を覆うように配置されており、空気通路3を通過する空気は冷却用熱交換器4を通過する。冷却用熱交換器4は、図示しない圧縮機等と適宜配管接合して冷凍サイクルを構成しているもので、冷凍サイクルを流れる冷媒と冷却用熱交換器4を通過する空気との熱交換を行って空気を冷却させたり、冷却用熱交換器4を通過する空気を除湿したりする。
 空気通路3の冷却用熱交換器4よりも下流側に所要の間隔を開けてヒータコア等の加熱用熱交換器5が配置されている。加熱用熱交換器5は、冷却用熱交換器4を通過して冷却され或いは除湿された空気を加熱するもので、冷却用熱交換器4で冷却された空気を再加熱することもできる。加熱用熱交換器5は、例えば、車両エンジンの冷却水を利用する温水式ヒータコア、圧縮機により圧縮された高温の冷媒を利用する放熱器、電力を利用するPTCヒータ等が用いられる。
 空気通路3は、加熱用熱交換器5をバイパスする空気(冷風)が流れる冷風通路3aと、加熱用熱交換器5を通過する空気(温風)が流れる温風通路3bとを有している。
 そして、空気通路3には、冷風通路3aを流れる空気と温風通路3bを流れる空気との風量割合を調整するためのエアミックスドア6が配置されている。エアミックスドア6は、この実施例ではバタフライ式ドアであり、冷風通路3aと温風通路3bとの合流地点に配置されている。すなわち、エアミックスドア6は、2つの閉塞部6a,6bを有し、閉塞部6aで冷風通路3aを閉じて冷風通路3aを流れる空気の割合をゼロとする位置(図4に示す位置)から、閉塞部6aで加熱用熱交換器5の上流側を閉じて温風通路3bを流れる空気の割合をゼロとする位置(図8に示す位置)まで回転軸6cを中心に回転することが可能となっている。なお、この実施例では、閉塞部6aで温風通路3bを流れる空気の風量割合をゼロとするときに、閉塞部6bは、冷風が温風通路3bに逆流するのを防ぐガイドの役割をなしている。
 空気通路3は、その最下流側、すなわち加熱用熱交換器5よりも下流側に、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9、サイドベント開口部10及びフット開口部11を備えている。
 デフロスト開口部8は、車両進行方向の前方に配置されているもので、その下流側端は空調ケース2の上面に開口している。そして、デフロスト開口部8は、図示しないデフロストダクトを介してデフロスト吹出口に接続され、このデフロスト吹出口は、車両進行方向の前方の窓ガラスの内面に向けて空気を吹き出すようになっている。
 センタベント開口部9は、デフロスト開口部8よりも車両進行方向の後方において、前記デフロスト開口部8と隣接して配置されているもので、その下流側端は空調ケース2の上面に開口している。そして、センタベント開口部9は、図示しないセンタベントダクトを介してセンタベント吹出口に接続され、このセンタベント吹出口は、車室内の乗員の上半身に向けて空気を吹き出すようになっている。
 サイドベント開口部10は、この実施例では、センタベント開口部9に対して車両左右方向の両側において、前記センタベント開口部9に隣接して配置されているもので、その下流側端は空調ケース2の上面に開口している。そして、サイドベント開口部10は、図示しないサイドベントダクトを介してサイドベント吹出口に接続され、このサイドベント吹出口は、車両左右方向の両端の窓ガラスの内面に向けて空気を吹き出すようになっている。実施例1では、サイドベント開口部10の上流側の開口端は、センタベント開口部9の上流側の開口端と同一平面上に配置されている。
 空気通路3は、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9、サイドベント開口部10に導く第1通路12と、第1通路12から分岐され、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気をフット開口部11に導く第2通路13とを有している。
 第1通路12は、この実施例では、冷風通路3aと、温風通路3bと、冷風通路3aを流れてきた冷風と温風通路3bを流れてきた温風とを合流させて冷風と温風とを混合させる冷温風混合空間3cとを含むものとなっている。そして、第1通路12の下流側は、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9、サイドベント開口部10の開口端まで続いている。
 第2通路13は、この実施例では、冷温風混合空間3cの近傍で第1通路12から分岐しており、車両進行方向の後方に向かって延びた構成となっている。そして、この第2通路13と第1通路12と仕切るための仕切り部14が分岐位置から空調ケース2の内壁面まで延びている。
 フット開口部11は、この実施例では、第2通路13に連続している。フット開口部11の上流側の開口端は、第2通路13に対し車両左右方向に向くように開口し、フット開口部11の下流側端は車両の下方に向くように開口している。そして、フット開口部11は、図示しないフットダクトを介してフット吹出口と接続され、或いはフット開口部11の下流側端がそのままフット吹出口となっており、車室内の乗員の足元に向けて空気を吹き出すよう、適切に構成されている。
 ところで、図4から図8及び図10に示されるように、第1通路12と第2通路13との分岐位置にデフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9、サイドベント開口部10に送られる空気と、フット開口部11に送られる空気とを振り分けるための第1ドア15が配置されている。
 この第1ドア15は、実施例1ではバタフライ式ドアであり、図2及び図10に示されるように、空調ケース2に支持された回転軸18から当該回転軸18の径方向に延びる第1閉塞部19と、第1閉塞部19とは異なる方向に延びる第2閉塞部20と、第1閉塞部19及び第2閉塞部20とは異なる方向に延びる第3閉塞部21とで構成されている。
 これらの閉塞部19、20、21は、いずれも平板状で、回転軸18から径方向に沿って延びる寸法は、第1閉塞部19が長く、第2閉塞部20と第3閉塞部21とは短くなっている。第1閉塞部19の回転軸18の軸方向に沿った寸法は、第1流路の車両左右方向に沿った寸法と略同じである。第2閉塞部20の回転軸18の軸方向に沿った寸法は、第2流路の車両左右方向に沿った寸法と略同じである。第3閉塞部21の回転軸18の軸方向に沿った寸法は、センタベント開口部9の車両左右方向に沿った寸法と略同じである。なお、図2では、第3閉塞部21は、回転軸18の軸方向の中心部位から1つ延出している。これは、空調ケース2のセンタベント開口部とサイドベント開口部とが、車両左右方向に沿って、サイドベント開口部、センタベント開口部、サイドベント開口部の順に配置されている構成に対応したためである。センタベント開口部とサイドベント開口部とが、センタベント開口部、サイドベント開口部、センタベント開口部の順に配置されている構成(図示せず。)では、第3閉塞部21は、図示しないが、回転軸18の軸方向の両端部位から2つ延出した構成となる。
 第1閉塞部19は、この実施例1では空調ケース2の冷却用熱交換器4側の内面に当接する位置から仕切り部14の先端部位に当接する位置までの範囲で回転可能となっている。そして、第1閉塞部19が空調ケース2の冷却用熱交換器4側の内面に当接すれば、第1通路12を閉じて、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第2通路13に振り分けることができる。第1閉塞部19が仕切り部14の先端部位に当接すれば、第2通路13ひいてはフット開口部11を閉じて、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分けることができる。
 第2閉塞部20は、図4に示されるように、この実施例1ではフットモードのときに空調ケース2の車室側の内面と並行した状態となり、第1ドア15と空調ケース2との間にあり第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。そして、第2閉塞部20は、フット開口部11に空気を振り分けないとき、すなわちデフモードやベントモードのときには、第1供給路22を閉じ、第1通路12から第2通路13或いは第2通路13から第1通路12への空気の流れを遮断する。
 第3閉塞部21は、フットモードのときに第1供給路22を部分的に閉じることにより、第1通路と第2通路とが連通する位置を限定するためのものである。すなわち、第3閉塞部21は、図4(a)に示されるように、サイドベント開口部10の位置においては第2通路13と第1通路12との間に存在せず、第1供給路22の出口を形成し、図4(b)で示されるように、センタベント開口部9の位置においては第2通路13と第1通路12との間を閉じ、第1供給路22の出口を閉じたものとなっている。なお、この実施例1では第3閉塞部21を第1ドア15に形成すると説明したが必ずしもこれに限定されず、後述する図20から図24に示されるように空調ケース2に形成しても良い。
 また、図4から図8及び図10に示されるように、デフロスト開口部8とセンタベント開口部9、サイドベント開口部10との間に、第2ドア16が配置されている。この第2ドア16は、図3及び図10に示されるように、空調ケース2に支持された回転軸24と、この回転軸24から当該回転軸24の径方向に延びる第4閉塞部25とを有して構成されている。この第2ドア16は、例えば図3で示した片持ち式ドアの他、図示しないが、バタフライ式ドアやロータリー式ドア等を、適宜採用しても良い。
 第4閉塞部25は、図3及び図10に示されるように、デフロスト開口部8とセンタベント開口部9とを選択的に閉じることが可能なセンタベント閉塞部26と、デフロスト開口部8を閉じることが可能であるが、センタベント閉塞部26がセンタベント開口部9を閉じたときにサイドベント開口部10を閉じない段差部27とを備えている。詳述すると、センタベント閉塞部26と段差部27とはそれぞれ平板状をしており、段差部27はセンタベント閉塞部26に対して回転軸24の周方向にずれて形成されている。また、センタベント閉塞部26と段差部27との間には、図3に示すように連接板28が配置されている。このようにセンタベント閉塞部26と段差部27とは段差があるので、センタベント閉塞部26がセンタベント開口部9を閉じたときは、段差部27はサイドベント開口部10を閉じず、図4から図6に示されるように、サイドベント開口部10との間で第2供給路29を形成する。そしてこの第2供給路29の入口は、第1供給路22の延伸方向に配置されたものとなる。より具体的には、段差部27の延伸方向が、第1ドア15の回転軸18よりも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19側に位置する。
 なお、図4に示される第2ドア16は、空調ケース2にサイドベント開口部10、センタベント開口部9、サイドベント開口部10の順に配置されている場合に対応したもので、空調ケース2にセンタベント開口部、サイドベント開口部、センタベント開口部の順に配置されている場合(図示せず。)には、図9に示されるように、1つの段差部27と、その両側に配された2つのセンタベント閉塞部26と、段差部27とセンタベント閉塞部26とを連接する連接板28と、で構成されるものとしても良い。
 上記の車両用空調ユニット1の構成に基づき、図4から図8を用いて、フットモード、デフロストモード、デフ/フットモード、バイレベルモード、及びベントモードでの空調ケース2内における空気の流れについて、それぞれサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面とセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面とで説明する。
 (フットモード)
 フットモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを閉じ、温風通路3bを全開とする。
 図4(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第2通路13に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。
 一方、第2ドア16の段差部27はサイドベント開口部10に面するが当接せず、第2供給路29を形成する。この第2供給路29の入口は、第1供給路22の延伸方向で、且つ、第1供給路22との間に若干の隙間がある位置に形成される。
 これにより、図4(a)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って流れ、第1通路12へと吹き出る。
 第1通路12に吹き出た空気は、大部分が第2供給路29を経てサイドベント開口部10に流れ、残りの僅かな量がデフロスト開口部8に流れる。
 次に、図4(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第2通路13に振り分ける。しかし、第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21が第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はセンタベント開口部9と当接し、この開口部9を閉じる。
 これにより、図4(b)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、第1供給路22が閉じられているので、フット開口部11に向かう。
 よって、フットモードのとき、デフロスト吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口と、フット吹出口とから温風を吹き出すことができ、フット吹出口からの風量を最も多く、次いでサイドベント吹出口、デフロスト吹出口の順に吹出し量を設定することができる。
 (デフロストモード)
 デフロストモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを閉じ、温風通路3bを全開とする。
 図5(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19が仕切り部14に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16の段差部27はサイドベント開口部10に面するが当接せず、第2供給路29を形成する。この第2供給路29の入口は、第1供給路22の延伸方向で、且つ、第1供給路22との間に若干の隙間がある位置に形成される。
 これにより、図5(a)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かう。
 このとき、段差部27はサイドベント開口部10に面するので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、大部分がデフロスト開口部8に流れるよう導かれ、残りの僅かな量がサイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図5(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は仕切り部14に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はセンタベント開口部9と当接し、この開口部9を閉じる。
 これにより、図5(b)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9に向かう。
 このとき、センタベント開口部9は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8に流れる。
 よって、デフロストモードのとき、デフロスト吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口とから温風を吹き出すことができ、デフロスト吹出口からの風量をサイドベント吹出口からの風量よりも多くなるように、設定することができる。
 (デフ/フットモード)
 デフ/フットモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを閉じ、温風通路3bを全開とする。
 図6(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2と、仕切り部14との途中に位置し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12と第2通路13とに振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。
 一方、第2ドア16の段差部27はサイドベント開口部10に面するが当接せず、第2供給路29を形成する。この第2供給路29の入口は、第1供給路22との間に若干の隙間がある位置に形成される。
 これにより、図6(a)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、一方は第1通路12に振り分けられ、他方は第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第2通路13に向かって流れることが可能である。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第1通路12に向かって流れることが可能である。
 このとき、段差部27はサイドベント開口部10に面するので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、大部分がデフロスト開口部8に流れるよう導かれ、残りの僅かな量がサイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図6(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2と、仕切り部14との途中に位置し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12と第2通路13とに振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21は空調ケース2に当接しない。
 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はセンタベント開口部9と当接し、この開口部9を閉じる。
 これにより、図6(b)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、一方は第1通路12に振り分けられ、他方は第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第2通路13に向かって流れることが可能である。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第1通路12に向かって流れることが可能である。
 このとき、センタベント開口部9は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8に流れる。
 よって、デフ/フットモードのとき、デフロスト吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口と、フット吹出口とから温風を吹き出すことができ、デフロスト吹出口とフット吹出口とからの風量を多く、サイドベント吹出口からの風量を少なくなるように、吹出し量を設定することができる。
 (バイレベルモード)
 バイレベルモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aと温風通路3bとを任意の割合となるように開放し、温度を調整した空気を作る。
 図7(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2と、仕切り部14との途中に位置し、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12と第2通路13とに振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。
 一方、第2ドア16の段差部27はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図7(a)の白抜き矢印、実線の矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、冷却用熱交換器4で冷却された冷風と加熱用熱交換器5で加熱された温風とに分かれ、冷温風混合空間3cで合流した後、冷風の多くは第1通路12に振り分けられ、温風の多くは第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第2通路13に向かって流れることが可能である。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第1通路12に向かって流れることが可能である。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路に振り分けられた空気は、サイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図7(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した場合でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2と、仕切り部14との途中に位置し、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5を通過した空気を第1通路12と第2通路13とに振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21は空調ケース2に当接しない。
 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図7(b)の白抜き矢印、実線の矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、冷却用熱交換器4で冷却された冷風と加熱用熱交換器5で加熱された温風とに分かれ、冷温風混合空間3cで合流した後、冷風の多くは第1通路12に振り分けられ、温風の多くは第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第2通路13に向かって流れることが可能である。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第1通路12に向かって流れることが可能である。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、センタベント開口部9に流れる。
 よって、バイレベルモードのとき、センタベント吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口と、フット吹出口とから空気を吹き出すことができる。そして、センタベント吹出口とサイドベント吹出口からは温度の低い空気を、フット吹出口からは温度の高い空気を吹き出せる。
 (ベントモード)
 ベントモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを全開とし、温風通路3bを閉じる。
 図8(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は仕切り部14に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4を通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16の段差部27はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図8(a)の白抜き矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が冷却用熱交換器4で冷却されて冷風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かう。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、サイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図8(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19が仕切り部14に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4を通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21は空調ケース2に当接しない。
 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図8(b)の白抜き矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が冷却用熱交換器4で冷却されて冷風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9に向かう。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、センタベント開口部9に流れる。
 よって、ベントモードのとき、センタベント吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口とから空気を吹出すことができる。
 そして、図10(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面において、空調ケース2は、第1供給路22をトンネル30として構成しても良い。このトンネル30の出口は、第2供給路29が形成されるときには、その第2供給路29の入口との間に若干の隙間が形成されている。また、図10(b)に示されるように、車両空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面において、トンネル30は、トンネル閉塞部23により閉じておくことが好ましい。第2通路に振り分けられた空気がトンネル30を経て第1通路に吹き出ようとしても、トンネル閉塞部23によりセンタベント開口部9には流れず、サイドベント開口部9へ効果的に吹き出すことができる。そして、このトンネル30の第2通路側の端部は、第1ドア15が仕切り部14に当接し、熱交換器を通過した空気を第1通路に振り分けるとき(図示せず)、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面において、第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20により閉じられる。
 よって、第1供給路22に流入した温風は、トンネル30を通ることでその流れる方向が整えられ、トンネル30から出た温風の所要の風量を確実に第2供給路29に送ることができ、デフロスト開口部8に送られる風量を相対的に減少させることができる。しかるに、サイドベント開口部10を経てサイドベント吹出口から吹き出される空気の量を、デフロスト開口部8を経てデフロスト吹出口から吹き出される空気の量よりも確実に多くすることができる。
 図11から図18において、車両用空調装置に用いられる車両用空調ユニット1の実施例2が示されている。以下、車両用空調ユニット1の実施例2について図11から図18を用いて説明する。但し、車両用空調ユニット1の実施例1と同様の構成については当該実施例1に付した符号と同一の符号を付すことで基本的にはその説明を省略する。
 図13から図17に示される車両用空調ユニット1は、図示しない送風ユニットと車両左右方向に沿った方向で接合されている点、空調ケース2の内部に空気通路3が形成されている点、空気通路3に冷却用熱交換器4、エアミックスドア6、加熱用熱交換器5が適宜配されている点、空気通路3の最下流側にデフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9、サイドベント開口部10及びフット開口部11を有している点で共通している。
 そして、車両用空調ユニット1は、空気通路3の加熱用熱交換器5よりも下流側において、第1通路12と、第1通路12から分岐した第2通路13と、第1通路12と第2通路13との分岐位置に配置された第1ドア15と、デフロスト開口部8とベント開口部9、10との間に配置される第2ドア16と、のそれぞれを有する点でも共通する。そして、第2ドア16の構成が図3乃至図9に示されるセンタベント閉塞部26及び段差部27を有する第4閉塞部25を備えている点でも共通する。
 なお、この実施例2では、第1供給路22は空調ケース2の分岐位置の一部に含まれるものとしている。
 その一方で、実施例2に示される車両用空調ユニット1は、第2通路13及びフット開口部11の配置と第1ドア15の構成については実施例1と相違している。
 すなわち、図13から図17に示されるように、第2通路13は、第1通路12から車両進行方向の後方に向かって分岐した後、車両下方に向かって延びており、フット開口部11は第2通路13の最下流側に配置されたものとなっている。そして、第2通路13及びフット開口部11と第1通路12とは、車両の上下方向に沿って延びる部位と車両の前後方向に且つ湾曲しつつ延びる部位とで成る仕切り部31により仕切られている。
 第1ドア15は、ロータリー式ドアであり、図12から図17に示されるように、空調ケース2に支持された回転軸18と、この回転軸18から回転軸18の径方向に沿って延びる第1閉塞部19と、回転軸18から第1閉塞部19とは異なる方向に回転軸18の径方向に沿って延びる第2閉塞部20と、第1閉塞部19と第2閉塞部20とを円弧状に接続する外周壁面32と、外周壁面32の側面を覆う2つの側面部S、Sで構成されている。
 そして、この第1ドア15は、図12に示されるように、第2閉塞部20の一部と、側面部Sの一部と、外周壁面32の一部と、を切り欠いた位置に、2つの凹部33を有したものとなっている。これらの凹部33は、それぞれ空調ケース2への取り付け時に車両の左右方向に向く1つの壁面34と、車両の室内側又は略上方に向く1の壁面35とを有している。なお、本実施例では、壁面34、35は平面であるとして説明するが、必ずしも平面に限定されず、必要に応じて曲面を連続して構成し、通気抵抗の低減や風切音の発生の予防を図ってもよい。
 図12に示される第1ドア15は、空調ケース2にサイドベント開口部10、センタベント開口部9、サイドベント開口部10の順に配置されている場合に対応したもので、空調ケース2に図示しないがセンタベント開口部、サイドベント開口部、センタベント開口部の順に配置されている場合(図示せず。)には、図18に示されるように、第2閉塞部20の一部と、外周壁面32の一部と、を切り欠いた位置に、1つの凹部33を有したものとしても良い。この場合、凹部33は、空調ケース2への取り付け時に車両の左右方向に向く2つの壁面34と、車両の室内側又は略上方に向く1の壁面35とを有したものとなる。この実施例でも、壁面34、35は必ずしも平面に限定されず、必要に応じて曲面を連続して構成し、通気抵抗の低減や風切音の発生の予防を図ってもよい。
 上記の車両用空調ユニット1の構成に基づき、図13から図17を用いて、フットモード、デフロストモード、デフ/フットモード、バイレベルモード、及びベントモードでの空調ケース2内における空気の流れについて、それぞれサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面とセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面とで説明する。
 (フットモード)
 フットモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを閉じ、温風通路3bを全開とする。
 図13(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2に当接し、第2閉塞部20は仕切り部31に当接せず、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5を通過した空気を第2通路に振り分ける。第1ドア15の凹部33の壁面34、35と第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2とで、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。
 一方、第2ドア16の段差部27はサイドベント開口部10に面するが当接せず、第2供給路29を形成する。この第2供給路29の入口は、第1供給路22の延伸方向で、且つ、第1供給路22との間に若干の隙間がある位置に形成される。
 これにより、図13(a)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って流れ、第1通路12へと吹き出る。
 第1通路12に吹き出た空気は、大部分が第2供給路29を経てサイドベント開口部10に流れ、残りの僅かな量はデフロスト開口部8に流れる。
 次に、図13(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第2通路13に振り分ける。しかし、第1ドア15はセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面には凹部33がなく、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はセンタベント開口部9と当接し、この開口部9を閉じる。
 これにより、図13(b)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、第1供給路22が閉じられているので、フット開口部11に向かう。
 よって、フットモードのとき、デフロスト吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口と、フット吹出口とから温風を吹き出すことができ、フット吹出口からの風量を最も多く、次いでサイドベント吹出口、デフロスト吹出口の順に吹出し量を設定することができる。
 (デフロストモード)
 デフロストモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを閉じ、温風通路3bを全開とする。
 図14(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は仕切り部31に当接して、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5を通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の凹部33は、第1通路12から隔離された位置にあり、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16の段差部27はサイドベント開口部10に面するが当接せず、第2供給路29を形成する。この第2供給路29の入口は、第1供給路22の延伸方向で、且つ、第1供給路22との間に若干の隙間がある位置に形成される。
 これにより、図14(a)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かう。
 このとき、段差部27はサイドベント開口部10に面するので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、大部分がデフロスト開口部8に流れるよう導かれ、残りの僅かな量がサイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図14(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は仕切り部31に当接して、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。しかし、第1ドア15はセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面には凹部33がなく、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はセンタベント開口部9と当接し、この開口部9を閉じる。
 これにより、図14(b)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9に向かう。
 このとき、センタベント開口部9は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8に流れる。
 よって、デフロストモードのとき、デフロスト吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口とから温風を吹き出すことができ、デフロスト吹出口からの風量をサイドベント吹出口からの風量よりも多くなるように、設定することができる。
 (デフ/フットモード)
 デフ/フットモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを閉じ、温風通路3bを全開とする。

 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はセンタベント開口部9と当接し、この開口部9を閉じる。
 これにより、図15(b)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、一方は第1通路12に振り分けられ、他方は第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かう。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かる。
 このとき、センタベント開口部9は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8に流れる。
 よって、デフ/フットモードのとき、デフロスト吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口と、フット吹出口とから温風を吹き出すことができ、デフロスト吹出口とフット吹出口とからの風量を多く、サイドベント吹出口からの風量を少なくなるように、吹出し量を設定することができる。
 (バイレベルモード)
 バイレベルモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aと温風通路3bとを任意の割合となるように開放し、温度を調整した空気を作る。
 図16(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2に当接せずに流路を形成し、第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は仕切り部31に当接せずに流路を形成し、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路と第2通路とに振り分ける。第1ドア15の凹部33の壁面34、35及び外周壁面32と第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2とで、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。
 一方、第2ドア16の段差部27はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図16(a)の白抜き矢印、実線の矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、冷却用熱交換器4で冷却された冷風と加熱用熱交換器5で加熱された温風とに分かれ、冷温風混合空間3cで合流した後、冷風の多くは第1通路12に振り分けられ、温風の多くは第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第2通路13に向かって流れることが可能である。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第1通路12に向かって流れることが可能である。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、サイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図16(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2に当接せずに流路を形成し、第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は仕切り部31に当接せずに流路を形成し、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12と第2通路13とに振り分ける。しかし、第1ドア15はセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面には凹部33がなく、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図16(b)の白抜き矢印、実線の矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、冷却用熱交換器4で冷却された冷風と加熱用熱交換器5で加熱された温風とに分かれ、冷温風混合空間3cで合流した後、冷風の多くは第1通路12に振り分けられ、温風の多くは第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9に向かう。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かう。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、センタベント開口部9に流れる。
 よって、バイレベルモードのとき、センタベント吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口と、フット吹出口とから空気を吹き出すことができる。そして、センタベント吹出口とサイドベント吹出口からは温度の低い空気を、フット吹出口からは温度の高い空気を吹き出せる。
 (ベントモード)
 ベントモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを全開とし、温風通路3bを閉じる。
 図17(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は仕切り部31に当接して、冷却用熱交換器4を通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の凹部33は、第1通路12から隔離された位置にあり、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16の段差部27はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図17(a)の白抜き矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が冷却用熱交換器4で冷却されて冷風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かう。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、サイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図17(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は第2通路13の情報の空調ケース2に当接し、第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は仕切り部31に当接して、冷却用熱交換器4を通過した空気を第1通路に振り分ける。第1ドア15はセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面には凹部33がなく、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16のセンタベント閉塞部26はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図17(b)の白抜き矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が冷却用熱交換器4で冷却されて冷風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9に向かう。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、センタベント開口部9に流れる。
 よって、ベントモードのとき、センタベント吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口とから空気を吹き出すことができる。
 図19から図24において、車両用空調装置に用いられる車両用空調ユニット1の実施例3が示されている。以下、車両用空調ユニット1の実施例3について図19から図24を用いて説明する。但し、実施例3に示される車両用空調ユニット1の構成は、第2ドア16の構成及びセンタベント開口部9の上流側部位の構成以外については実施例1に示される車両用空調ユニット1の構成と同様である。このため、実施例1に示される車両用空調ユニット1の構成と同じ構成については同一の符号を付してその説明を省略し、第2ドア16及びセンタベント開口部9の上流側部位の構成のみについて以下に説明する。
 このうち、第2ドア16は、図19に示されるように、空調ケース2に支持された回転軸24と、この回転軸24から当該回転軸24の径方向に延びる第4閉塞部25とを有して構成されており、この点では実施例1に示される第2ドア16と同様であるが、その一方で第4閉塞部25は、図3や図10に示される第2ドア16とは異なり段差部を有さず、均等に平らな板状をなしている。
 センタベント開口部9の上流側(第2ドア16側)の開口端は、サイドベント開口部10の上流側(第2ドア16側)の開口端よりも加熱用熱交換器5側に突出した位置に配されている。
 これに伴い、第2ドア16がセンタベント開口部9の上流側の開口端に当接したときには、サイドベント開口部10の上流側の開口端に当接せず、第2ドア16とサイドベント開口部10の上流側の開口端との間に第2供給路29が形成される。
 上記の車両用空調ユニット1の構成に基づき、図20から図24を用いて、フットモード、デフロストモード、デフ/フットモード、バイレベルモード、及びベントモードでの空調ケース2内における空気の流れについて、それぞれサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面とセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面とで説明する。
 (フットモード)
 フットモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを閉じ、温風通路3bを全開とする。
 図20(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第2通路に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25はサイドベント開口部10に面するが当接せず、サイドベント開口部10の上流側の開口端との間で第2供給路29を形成する。この第2供給路29の入口は、第1供給路22の延伸方向で、且つ、第1供給路22との間に若干の隙間がある位置に形成される。
 これにより、図20(a)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って流れ、第1通路12へと吹き出る。
 第1通路12に吹き出た空気は、大部分が第2供給路29を経てサイドベント開口部10に流れ、残りの僅かな量がデフロスト開口部8に流れる。
 次に、図20(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第2通路13に振り分ける。しかし、第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21が第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25がセンタベント開口部9と当接し、この開口部9を閉じる。
 これにより、図20(b)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、第1供給路22が閉じられているので、フット開口部11に向かう。
 よって、フットモードのとき、デフロスト吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口と、フット吹出口とから温風を吹き出すことができ、フット吹出口からの風量を最も多く、次いでサイドベント吹出口、デフロスト吹出口の順に吹出し量を設定することができる。
 (デフロストモード)
 デフロストモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを閉じ、温風通路3bを全開とする。
 図21(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は仕切り部14に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25はサイドベント開口部10に面するが当接せず、サイドベント開口部10の上流側の開口端との間で第2供給路29を形成する。この第2供給路29の入口は、第1供給路22の延伸方向で、且つ、第1供給路22との間に若干の隙間がある位置に形成される。
 これにより、図21(a)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かう。
 このとき、第4閉塞部25はサイドベント開口10に面するので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、大部分がデフロスト開口部8に流れるよう導かれ、残りの僅かな量がサイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図21(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は仕切り部14に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21は、空調ケース2に当接しない。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25はセンタベント開口部9に当接し、この開口部9を閉じる。
 これにより、図21(b)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9に向かう。
 このとき、センタベント開口部9は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8に流れる。
 よって、デフロストモードのとき、デフロスト吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口とから温風を吹き出すことができ、デフロスト吹出口からの風量をサイドベント吹出口からの風量よりも多くなるように、設定することができる。
 (デフ/フットモード)
 デフ/フットモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを閉じ、温風通路3bを全開とする。
 図22(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2と、仕切り部14との途中に位置し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12と第2通路13とに振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25はサイドベント開口部10に面するが当接せず、サイドベント開口部10の上流側の開口端との間で第2供給路29を形成する。この第2供給路29の入口は、第1供給路22の延伸方向で、且つ、第1供給路22との間に若干の隙間がある位置に形成される。
 これにより、図22(a)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、一方は第1通路12に振り分けられ、他方は第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第2通路13に向かって流れることが可能である。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第1通路12に向かって流れることが可能である。
 このとき、第4閉塞部25はサイドベント開口10に面するので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、大部分がデフロスト開口部8に流れるよう導かれ、残りの僅かな量がサイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図22(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2と、仕切り部14との途中に位置し、冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12と第2通路13とに振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21は、空調ケース2と当接しない。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25はセンタベント開口部9と当接し、この開口部9を閉じる。
 これにより、図22(b)の白抜き矢印及び実線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が加熱用熱交換器5で加熱されて温風となった後、一方は第1通路12に振り分けられ、他方は第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第2通路13に向かって流れることが可能である。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第1通路12に向かって流れることが可能である。
 このとき、センタベント開口部9は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8に流れる。
 よって、デフ/フットモードのとき、デフロスト吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口と、フット吹出口とから温風を吹き出すことができ、デフロスト吹出口とフット吹出口とからの風量を多く、サイドベント吹出口からの風量を少なくなるよう吹出し量を設定することができる。
 (バイレベルモード)
 バイレベルモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aと温風通路3bとを任意の割合となるように開放し、温度を調整した空気を作る。
 図23(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2と、仕切り部14との途中に位置し、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5とを通過した空気を第1通路12と第2通路13とに振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図23(a)の白抜き矢印、実線の矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、冷却用熱交換器4で冷却された冷風と加熱用熱交換器5で加熱された温風とに分かれ、冷温風混合空間3cで合流した後、冷風の多くは第1通路12に振り分けられ、温風の多くは第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第2通路13に向かって流れることが可能である。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第1通路12に向かって流れることが可能である。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、サイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図23(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した場合でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は冷温風混合空間3cの前方の空調ケース2と、仕切り部14との途中に位置し、冷却用熱交換器4または冷却用熱交換器4と加熱用熱交換器5を通過した空気を第1通路12と第2通路13とに振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の後方の空調ケース2に当接せず、第2通路13と第1通路12とを連通する第1供給路22を開く。第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21は空調ケース2に当接しない。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図23(b)の白抜き矢印、実線の矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、冷却用熱交換器4で冷却された冷風と加熱用熱交換器5で加熱された温風とに分かれ、冷温風混合空間3cで合流した後、冷風の多くは第1通路12に振り分けられ、温風の多くは第2通路13に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第2通路13に向かって流れることが可能である。第2通路13に振り分けられた空気は、フット開口部11へ向かうほか、一部は第1供給路22の延伸方向に沿って第1通路12に向かって流れることが可能である。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路に振り分けられた空気は、センタベント開口部9に流れる。
 よって、バイレベルモードのとき、センタベント吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口と、フット吹出口とから空気を吹き出すことができる。そして、センタベント吹出口とサイドベント吹出口からは温度の低い空気を、フット吹出口からは温度の高い空気を吹き出せる。
(ベントモード)
 ベントモードのときは、エアミックスドア6は、冷風通路3aを全開とし、温風通路3bを閉じる。
 図24(a)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19は仕切り部14に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4を通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21は、空調ケース2と当接しない。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図24(a)の白抜き矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が冷却用熱交換器4で冷却されて冷風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、サイドベント開口部10に向かう。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、サイドベント開口部10に流れる。
 次に、図24(b)に示されるように、車両用空調ユニット1をセンタベント開口部9で切断した断面でも、第1ドア15の第1閉塞部19が仕切り部14に当接し、冷却用熱交換器4を通過した空気を第1通路12に振り分ける。第1ドア15の第2閉塞部20は第2通路13の上方の空調ケース2に当接し、第1供給路22を閉じる。第1ドア15の第3閉塞部21は空調ケース2に当接しない。
 一方、第2ドア16の第4閉塞部25はデフロスト開口部8の前方側の空調ケース2に当接し、この開口部8を閉じる。
 これにより、図24(b)の白抜き矢印及び破線の矢印に示されるように、送風ユニットから車両用空調ユニット1の空気通路3内に送られた空気は、その全ての空気が冷却用熱交換器4で冷却されて冷風となった後、第1通路12に振り分けられる。
 第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、デフロスト開口部8、センタベント開口部9に向かう。
 このとき、デフロスト開口部8は閉じられているので、第1通路12に振り分けられた空気は、センタベント開口部9に流れる。
 よって、ベントモードのとき、センタベント吹出口と、サイドベント吹出口とから空気を吹出すことができる。
 そして、この実施例3においても、空調ケース2に対して、車両用空調ユニット1をサイドベント開口部10で切断した断面では、フットモードのときにおいて、第1供給路22を、図10に示されるトンネル30として構成しても良い。
 よって、実施例3でも、第1供給路22すなわちトンネル30に流入した温風は、トンネル30を通ってその大部分が確実に第2供給路29に送られて、デフロスト開口部8に送られる風量を相対的に減少させることができるので、サイドベント開口部10を経てサイドベント吹出口から吹き出される空気量もデフロスト開口部8を経てデフロスト吹出口から吹き出される空気量よりも確実に多くすることができる。

Claims (13)

  1.  空気通路を内部に有する空調ケースと、
     前記空気通路内に配置され、前記空気通路を流れる空気と熱の交換を行う熱交換器と、
     前記空調ケース内に配置された前記熱交換器の下流側に設けられたセンタベント開口部と、
     前記センタベント開口部の車両左右方向の右側および/または左側に設けられたサイドベント開口部と、
     前記センタベント開口部の車両前後方向の前側に設けられたデフロスト開口部と、
     前記センタベント開口部の車両上下方向の下側に設けられたフット開口部と、を備え、
     前記空気通路は、
     前記熱交換器を通過した空気を前記センタベント開口部、前記サイドベント開口部、及び前記デフロスト開口部に導く第1通路と、
     前記第1通路から分岐され、前記熱交換器を通過した空気を前記フット開口部に導く第2通路と、を有し、
     前記第2通路への分岐位置には、前記熱交換器を通過した空気を前記第1通路と前記第2通路とに振り分ける第1ドアが配置され、
     前記第1ドアの下流側には、前記第1通路と前記第2通路とを連通する第1供給路が備えられ、この第1供給路は前記第1ドアにより開閉されるものであり、
     前記第1通路には、前記第1供給路よりも下流側に、前記熱交換器を通過した空気を前記センタベント開口部と前記デフロスト開口部とに振り分ける第2ドアが配置されている車両用空調ユニットにおいて、
     フットモードのとき、
     前記第1ドアは、前記第1通路を閉じると共に、前記第1供給路を開き、
     前記第2ドアは、前記センタベント開口部を閉じると共に、入口が前記第1供給路の延伸方向に位置し出口が前記サイドベント開口部に連通する第2供給路を形成する
     ことを特徴とする車両用空調ユニット。

     前記空調ケースに回転可能に支持された回転軸と、
     前記回転軸から延びる第1閉塞部と、
     前記回転軸から前記第1閉塞部とは異なる方向に延びる第2閉塞部と、を有するバタフライ式ドアであり、
     フットモードのとき、
     前記第1閉塞部は前記第1通路を閉じ、
     前記第2閉塞部は前記第1供給路を開く
     ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  3.  前記第1ドアは、さらに、
     前記回転軸から前記第1閉塞部及び前記第2閉塞部の双方とは異なる方向に延びる第3閉塞部を有し、
     前記第3閉塞部の前記回転軸の軸方向に沿う方向の長さは、前記第1供給路の前記回転軸の軸方向に沿う方向の長さよりも短く、
     フットモードのとき、
     前記第3閉塞部は、前記第1供給路を部分的に閉じる
     ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  4.  前記第1ドアは、
     前記空調ケースに回転可能に支持された回転軸と、
     前記回転軸から延びる第1閉塞部と、
     前記回転軸から前記第1閉塞部とは異なる方向に延びる第2閉塞部と、
     前記第1閉塞部と前記第2閉塞部とを円弧状に接続する外周壁面と、
     前記第2閉塞部の一部及び前記外周壁面の一部を切り抜いて形成される凹部と、を有するロータリー式ドアであり、
     フットモードのとき、
     第1ドアが前記第1閉塞部と第2閉塞部とは前記第1通路を閉じ、
     前記凹部は前記第1供給路に位置する
     ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  5.  前記第2ドアは、
     前記空調ケースに回転可能に支持された回転軸と、
     前記回転軸から延びる第4閉塞部と、
    を有するドアであり、
     前記第4閉塞部は、
     前記センタベント開口部を閉塞可能なセンタベント閉塞部と、
     前記センタベント閉塞部に対して前記回転軸の周方向にずれた段差を有する段差部と、
    を備え、
     フットモードのとき、
     前記センタベント閉塞部は前記センタベント開口部を閉じ、
     前記段差部は前記サイドベント開口部の上流側に位置して前記第2供給路を形成する
     ことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項4のいずれかに記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  6.  前記第2ドアは、
     前記空調ケースに回転可能に支持された回転軸と、
     前記回転軸から延びる第4閉塞部と、
    を有するドアであり、
     前記サイドベント開口部は、
     前記センタベント開口部よりも前記熱交換器の下流側にあり、
     フットモードのとき、
     前記第4閉塞部は前記センタベント開口部を閉じると共に、前記サイドベント開口部の上流側に位置して前記第2供給路を形成する
     ことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項4のいずれかに記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  7.  デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、
     前記第1ドアは、前記第2通路を閉じると共に、前記第1供給路を閉じる
     ことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項6のいずれかに記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  8.  前記第1ドアは、前記バタフライ式ドアであって、
     デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、
     前記第1閉塞部は前記第2通路を閉じ、
     前記第2閉塞部は前記第1供給路を閉じる
     ことを特徴とする請求項2又は請求項3に記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  9.  前記第1ドアは、前記ロータリー式ドアであって、
     デフロストモードまたはベントモードのとき、
     前記第1閉塞部及び前記第2閉塞部は前記第2通路を閉じ、
     前記第1閉塞部は前記第1供給路を閉じる
     ことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  10.  前記第2ドアは、
     前記センタベント閉塞部と前記段差部とを備えた前記第4閉塞部を有するドアであって、
     デフロストモードまたはデフフットモードのとき、
     前記センタベント閉塞部は前記センタベント開口部を閉じ、
     前記段差部は前記サイドベント開口部の上流側に位置して前記第2供給路を形成し、
     ベントモードまたはバイレベルモードのとき、
     前記第4閉塞部は前記デフロスト開口部を閉じる
     ことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  11.  前記第2ドアは、
     第4閉塞部を有するドアであると共に、
     前記サイドベント開口部は、
     前記センタベント開口部よりも前記熱交換器の下流側にあり、
     デフロストモードまたはデフフットモードのとき、
     第4閉塞部は前記センタベント開口部を閉じると共に、前記サイドベント開口部の上流側に位置して前記第2供給路を形成し、
     ベントモードまたはバイレベルモードのとき、
     前記第4閉塞部は前記デフロスト開口部を閉じる
     ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  12.  前記熱交換器は、
     前記空気通路内の空気を加熱する加熱用熱交換器であること
     を特徴とする請求項1から請求項11のいずれかに記載の車両用空調ユニット。
  13.  前記第1供給路はトンネル状である
     ことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項12のいずれかに記載の車両用空調ユニット。
