Abstract
Description
本発明の新規な特徴を添付の請求の範囲に記述するが、本発明は、構成および内容の両方に関し、本発明の他の目的および特徴と併せ、図面を照合した以下の詳細な説明によりさらによく理解されるであろう。
SiOx(0.5<x<1.5)は、微結晶または非晶質であることが好ましい。微結晶または非晶質のケイ素酸化物を用いることで、ケイ素酸化物の微粉化を抑制しやすくなる。また、ケイ素元素に対する酸素のモル比:xを0.5<x<1.5とすることで、高い容量を確保しつつ、ケイ素酸化物の微粉化を抑制しやすくなる。上記のようなケイ素酸化物は、非晶質のSiO2マトリックスと、そのマトリックス中に分散する微結晶または非晶質のケイ素とで構成されていると考えられる。
炭素材料は、負極活物質層において、活物質(リチウムイオンを吸蔵および放出可能な材料)または導電材またはその両方としての機能を果たす材料であればよい。このような炭素材料として、人造黒鉛、天然黒鉛、難黒鉛化炭素、易黒鉛化炭素、非晶質炭素、炭素繊維などが挙げられる。これらは単独で用いても良く、複数種を併用してもよい。
まず、SiOx粒子を、黒鉛、難黒鉛化炭素、易黒鉛化炭素などの炭素材料とともに、ボールミルなどの攪拌装置で攪拌したり、流動床で振動させたりして、SiOx粒子と炭素材料との複合粒子を調製する。こうして得られた複合粒子に、更に、黒鉛、難黒鉛化炭素、易黒鉛化炭素などの炭素材料を混合してもよい。
非水電解質としては、リチウム塩を溶解した非水溶媒を用いることが望ましい。そして、非水電解質には、ハロゲン化環状カーボネートが、上記のb/a比を満たすように添加される。ハロゲン化環状カーボネートとしては、例えば、エチレンカーボネートまたはプロピレンカーボネートから少なくとも一つの水素原子をフッ素原子に置換した構造を有する化合物が好ましい。
図1は、円筒型の非水電解質二次電池の一例の縦断面図である。
帯状の負極は、負極集電体シートとその両面に付着する負極活物質層とで構成されている。負極活物質層は、負極活物質と、結着剤とを、必須成分として含み、増粘剤等を任意成分として含み得る。負極活物質は、ケイ素酸化物と炭素材料とを含む。負極活物質層は、負極活物質と結着剤と分散媒である液状成分とを混合して得られるスラリーを、集電体シートの一方または両方の表面に塗布し、塗膜を乾燥することにより得られる。塗膜の厚さや密度は、圧延により制御される。
帯状の正極は、正極集電体シートとその両面に付着する正極活物質層とで構成されている。正極活物質層は、正極活物質と、結着剤とを、必須成分として含み、導電材、増粘剤等を任意成分として含み得る。正極活物質層は、正極活物質と結着剤と分散媒である液状成分とを混合して得られるスラリーを、集電体シートの一方または両方の表面に塗布し、塗膜を乾燥することにより得られる。塗膜の厚さや密度は、圧延により制御される。
(i)負極
表面が炭素で被覆されたSiOx粒子(x=1、平均粒径:5μm、炭素被覆量5質量%)と黒鉛粒子(平均粒径:20μm)とを、両者に占めるSiOの割合が表1記載の割合となるように混合し、負極活物質を調製した。得られた負極活物質100質量部と、増粘剤であるカルボキシメチルセルロース1質量部と、結着剤であるスチレンブタジエンゴム1質量部と、適量の純水とを、ミキサーで混合し、負極合剤スラリーを調製した。このスラリーを厚さ8μmの電解銅箔からなる集電体シートの両面に塗布し、乾燥させ、圧延して、帯状の負極を得た。
負極の理論容量より計算される充電容量(負極充電容量)と、正極の理論容量より計算される充電容量(正極充電容量)が関係式:
(正極充電容量)/(負極充電容量)=1.1
を満たすように負極合剤スラリーの塗工量を定めた。
負極は円筒型18650の電池ケースに対応する大きさに裁断した。
100質量部のLiNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2と、アセチレンブラック2質量部と、ポリフッ化ビニリデン2質量部と、適量のN-メチル-2-ピロリドン(NMP)とを、ミキサーで混合し、正極合剤スラリーを調製した。このスラリーを厚さ15μmのAl箔からなる集電体シートの両面に塗布し、乾燥させ、圧延して、帯状の正極を得た。正極は円筒型18650の電池ケースに対応する大きさに裁断した。正極の厚みは128μmであった。正極と負極の充電容量が上記関係式を満たし、かつ電池の設計容量が表1記載の値になるように正極の長さを適宜調整した。
上記の正極と負極とを、厚さ16μmのポリエチレン製微多孔膜からなるセパレータを介して捲回し、渦巻き状の電極群を構成した。得られた電極群を、円筒型18650の電池ケースに収容し、リード接続等の工程を行った。その後、5gの非水電解質(設計容量1Ah当たり1.59~1.72g)を電池ケースに加え、真空下で電極群に非水電解質を含浸させた後、電池を封口した。用いた封口板は安全弁を具備し、電池内圧が上限値に達すると作動し、電流を遮断する機能を有する。
EC/EMC/DMCの体積比が1/1/8になるように混合し、これに1.2mol/Lの濃度でLiPF6を溶解させて非水電解質を調製した。得られた非水電解質に対して、所定量のフルオロエチレンカーボネート(FEC)を添加した。FECの添加量は、上記負極に含まれるSiOの質量aに対する、上記非水電解質5gに含まれるFECの質量bの比が表1の値となるように調整した。
(サイクル特性)
45℃環境下で、下記条件で充放電を繰り返した。
定電流充電:充電電流0.5C/充電終止電圧4.2V
定電圧充電:充電電圧値4.2V/充電終止電流0.05C
定電流放電:放電電流1.0C/放電終止電圧2.5V
そして、200サイクル目の放電容量の1サイクル目の放電容量に対する割合(容量維持率)を求めた。
FECの代わりに、1,2-ジフルオロエチレンカーボネート(DFEC)を用いたこと以外、実施例1の電池17と同様にして、電池22を完成させ、上記と同様に評価した結果を表2に示す。
正極の厚みを121μmに変更したこと以外は実施例1と同様に作製した正極と負極とを、厚み5.2mm、幅34mm、高さ36mmの封筒状の電池ケースに対応する大きさに裁断し、偏平形状の電極群に捲回し、これを電池ケースに収容して、パウチ型電池23~34を作製した。電池ケースには、設計容量1Ah当たり2.5gの非水電解質を注入した。
また、電池の1サイクル目の充電状態の電池厚みに対する、300サイクル後の充電状態の電池厚みの増加量を測定した。結果を表3に示す。
Claims (8)
- 正極、負極、非水電解質およびこれらを収容する電池ケースを具備し、
前記負極は、SiOx(0.5<x<1.5)と炭素材料とを含み、
前記非水電解質は、ハロゲン化環状カーボネートを含み、
前記負極に含まれるSiOxの質量aに対する前記非水電解質に含まれるハロゲン化環状カーボネートの質量bの比が、0.001<b/a<3を満たす、非水電解質二次電池。 - 前記負極に含まれるSiOxと炭素材料との合計に占める前記SiOxの割合が、3質量%以上、40質量%未満である、請求項1記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記負極に含まれるSiOxと炭素材料との合計に占める前記SiOxの割合が、3質量%以上、10質量%以下である、請求項1記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記炭素材料の平均粒径よりも前記SiOxの平均粒径が小さく、前記炭素材料が、黒鉛、難黒鉛化炭素および易黒鉛化炭素よりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を含む請求項1~3のいずれか1項記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記電池ケースが、円筒型の金属缶を具備し、前記非水電解質二次電池の公称容量1Ah当たりの前記非水電解質の量が1.0~2.5gであり、0.1<b/a<2を満たす、請求項1~4のいずれか1項記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記電池ケースが、角型の金属缶または封筒型のフレキシブルな袋体を具備し、前記非水電解質二次電池の公称容量1Ah当たりの前記非水電解質の量が1.5~3.5gであり、0.15≦b/a<3を満たす、請求項1~4のいずれか1項記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記ハロゲン化環状カーボネートが、モノフルオロエチレンカーボネートおよびジフルオロエチレンカーボネーよりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種である、請求項1~6のいずれか1項記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記非水電解質が、エチレンカーボネートおよびプロピレンカーボネートよりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を含む、請求項1~7のいずれか1項記載の非水電解質二次電池。
