Definitions
- the present invention relates to an elastomer material containing an ionic component, and more particularly to an elastomer material in which the ionic component is fixed to the elastomer.
- transducers include actuators and sensors that convert between mechanical energy and electrical energy, or speakers and microphones that convert between acoustic energy and electrical energy.
- Polymer materials such as dielectric elastomers are useful for constructing a highly flexible, small and lightweight transducer.
- an actuator can be configured by arranging a pair of electrodes on both sides in the thickness direction of a dielectric layer made of a dielectric elastomer.
- increasing the voltage applied between the electrodes increases the electrostatic attractive force between the electrodes.
- the dielectric layer sandwiched between the electrodes is compressed from the thickness direction, and the thickness of the dielectric layer is reduced.
- the dielectric layer extends in a direction parallel to the electrode surface.
- the applied voltage between the electrodes is reduced, the electrostatic attractive force between the electrodes is reduced.
- the actuator drives the member to be driven by extending and contracting the dielectric layer.
- the force and displacement output from the actuator are determined by the magnitude of the applied voltage and the relative dielectric constant of the dielectric layer. That is, the greater the applied voltage and the greater the relative dielectric constant of the dielectric layer, the greater the generated force and displacement of the actuator.
- silicone rubber having high resistance to dielectric breakdown, acrylic rubber having high relative dielectric constant, nitrile rubber, or the like is used (for example, see Patent Documents 1 and 2).
- the relative dielectric constant of silicone rubber is small. For this reason, when silicone rubber is used as the material of the dielectric layer, the electrostatic attractive force with respect to the applied voltage is small, and it is difficult to obtain a desired generated force and displacement. In addition, the dielectric breakdown resistance of silicone rubber is not sufficient, and there is a limit to the voltage that can be applied.
- the relative dielectric constant of acrylic rubber and nitrile rubber is larger than that of silicone rubber.
- the electrostatic attraction with respect to the applied voltage becomes larger than when silicone rubber is used.
- the electrical resistance of acrylic rubber or the like is smaller than that of silicone rubber.
- the dielectric layer tends to break down.
- a voltage is applied, a current flows in the dielectric layer (so-called leakage current), and charges are not easily accumulated near the interface between the dielectric layer and the electrode. Therefore, although the relative dielectric constant is large, the electrostatic attractive force is small, and a sufficient force and displacement cannot be obtained.
- the dielectric layer may be destroyed by the generated Joule heat. As described above, it is difficult to realize a dielectric layer having excellent dielectric breakdown resistance and high electrostatic attraction by using one material.
- the conductive roll includes a cored bar, a conductive elastic layer formed on the outer peripheral side thereof, and a resistance adjusting layer formed on the outer peripheral side thereof. Composed.
- a resistance adjustment layer is a layer which plays the role which adjusts the electrical resistance of an electroconductive roll, and is formed from the composition by which the ionic component was mix
- the present invention has been made in view of such a situation, and can be used as a constituent material of a transducer or a conductive roll, and an elastomer material whose characteristics are less likely to change with the passage of time or use, and a method for manufacturing the same. It is an issue to provide.
- the elastomer material in which the ion component of the present invention is immobilized has an elastomer, ion-immobilized particles in which the first ion component is immobilized on the metal oxide particles, and a charge opposite to the first ion component. And the ion-immobilized particles are chemically bonded to the elastomer.
- the ion-immobilized particles are chemically bonded to the elastomer.
- the ion-fixed particles are composed of metal oxide particles and a first ion component immobilized thereon. That is, the first ion component is fixed to the elastomer via the metal oxide particles.
- the charge of the first ion component immobilized on the metal oxide particle may be positive or negative.
- the elastomer material includes an elastomer, and cation-immobilized particles in which the cation is immobilized on the metal oxide particles.
- a second ion component (anion) having a negative charge in FIG. 1, the schematic diagram of the structural component of the elastomer material of this aspect is shown.
- the elastomer material 2 includes an elastomer 20, cation-fixing particles 21, and anions 22.
- the elastomer 20 has a carboxyl group (—COOH).
- the cation fixed particle 21 is formed by fixing a cation 211 to a TiO 2 particle 210.
- the cation 211 and the anion 22 are counter ions.
- the cation-fixed particles 21 are chemically bonded to the elastomer 20 by the reaction between —COOH of the elastomer 20 and —OH of the TiO 2 particles 210.
- the elastomer material 2 when the first ion component having a negative charge is immobilized, the elastomer material is chemically bonded to the elastomer and the anion-immobilized particles in which the anion is immobilized on the metal oxide particles. And a cation component having a positive charge.
- FIG. 2 the schematic diagram of the structural component of the elastomer material of this aspect is shown.
- the elastomer material 2 includes an elastomer 20, anion-fixing particles 23, and cations 24.
- the elastomer 20 has a carboxyl group (—COOH).
- the anion-fixing particles 23 are formed by immobilizing anions 231 on TiO 2 particles 230.
- the anion 231 and the cation 24 are counter ions.
- the anion-fixing particles 23 are chemically bonded to the elastomer 20 by the reaction between the —COOH of the elastomer 20 and the —OH of the TiO 2 particles 230.
- 1 and 2 are schematic views for explaining the elastomer material of the present invention, and do not limit the elastomer material of the present invention at all.
- the elastomer material of the present invention In the elastomer material of the present invention, one of the ionic components that form a pair is fixed to the elastomer via the metal oxide particles.
- the immobilized ion component is difficult to move. For this reason, there is little possibility that an ionic component exudes or precipitates. Therefore, for example, when the elastomer material of the present invention is used for the resistance adjustment layer of the conductive roll, peeling of the resistance adjustment layer and a change in electric resistance are suppressed, and image defects due to poor charging can be reduced.
- the elastomer material of the present invention can be laminated on a dielectric layer to constitute a transducer.
- a transducer including a dielectric layer and a pair of electrodes disposed on both sides of the dielectric layer
- an ion-fixing layer made of the elastomer material of the present invention is interposed between the dielectric layer and the electrode.
- the ion fixing layer may be disposed on both the front and back surfaces of the dielectric layer so as to sandwich the dielectric layer, or may be disposed on either the front surface or the back surface of the dielectric layer.
- the charge of the first ion component of the ion-fixed particles is made the same as the polarity of the adjacent electrode.
- the ion fixed layer when the first ion component has a positive charge, the ion fixed layer is disposed between the positive electrode and the dielectric layer. On the other hand, when the first ion component has a negative charge, the ion fixed layer is disposed between the negative electrode and the dielectric layer.
- FIG. 3 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of the transducer before voltage application.
- FIG. 4 is a schematic cross-sectional view of the transducer in a state when a voltage is applied.
- the transducer 1 includes a dielectric layer 10, a cation fixed layer 11, an anion fixed layer 12, a positive electrode 13, and a negative electrode 14.
- the cation fixed layer 11 is disposed on the upper surface of the dielectric layer 10.
- the plus electrode 13 is disposed on the upper surface of the cation fixed layer 11. That is, the cation fixed layer 11 is interposed between the dielectric layer 10 and the plus electrode 13.
- the cation fixed layer 11 includes an elastomer 110, cation fixed particles 111, and an anion component 112.
- the cation fixed particles 111 are metal oxide particles in which a cation component is fixed.
- the cation-fixing particles 111 are chemically bonded to the elastomer 110.
- the anion fixed layer 12 is disposed on the lower surface of the dielectric layer 10.
- the negative electrode 14 is disposed on the lower surface of the anion fixing layer 12. That is, the anion fixed layer 12 is interposed between the dielectric layer 10 and the negative electrode 14.
- the anion fixing layer 12 includes an elastomer 120, anion fixing particles 121, and a cation component 122.
- the anion-fixing particles 121 are metal oxide particles in which an anion component is fixed.
- the anion-fixing particles 121 are chemically bonded to the elastomer 120.
- the cation fixing layer 11 and the anion fixing layer 12 are included in the elastomer material of the present invention.
- the transducer 1 a large amount of electric charge is stored in the vicinity of the interface between the cation fixed layer 11, the anion fixed layer 12, and the dielectric layer 10 in contact therewith. Therefore, a large electrostatic attractive force is generated from the positive electrode 13 and the negative electrode 14 so as to compress the dielectric layer 10, the cation fixed layer 11, and the anion fixed layer 12. As a result, the dielectric layer 10, the cation pinned layer 11, and the anion pinned layer 12 are compressed in the vertical direction, and correspondingly extend in the left-right direction as indicated by white arrows in FIG.
- the anion component hardly moves to the dielectric layer 10 side (the direction opposite to the negative electrode 14).
- the electrical resistance of the dielectric layer 10 is unlikely to decrease. That is, the dielectric layer 10 is less likely to deteriorate with time and can maintain high dielectric breakdown resistance.
- a large electrostatic attraction can be generated by laminating the ion-fixing layer made of the elastomer material of the present invention on the dielectric layer having high dielectric breakdown resistance.
- the first ion component having the same charge as the polarity of the adjacent electrode is fixed to the elastomer via the metal oxide particles.
- the ionic component in the ion fixed layer is difficult to move to the dielectric layer. Therefore, it is possible to generate a large electrostatic attraction while maintaining the dielectric breakdown resistance of the dielectric layer.
- a transducer having a large output can be configured in a practical voltage range.
- Patent Document 3 discloses an actuator in which a conductive polymer layer and an ionic electrolyte-containing layer are interposed between a pair of electrodes. According to the actuator of Patent Document 3, a voltage is applied, and ions in the ion electrolyte-containing layer are doped or undoped in the conductive polymer layer. Thereby, the conductive polymer layer is expanded and contracted to generate a force.
- the actuator of Patent Document 3 is different from the transducer using the elastomer material of the present invention in that ions are moved between adjacent layers.

- the first ionic component in the reactive ionic liquid is immobilized on the metal oxide particles to produce ion-immobilized particles, the ion-immobilized particles, and the second ionic component in the reactive ionic liquid;
- An ionic immobilization step for obtaining a sol containing a mixture of the sol and a polymer solution containing a rubber polymer having a functional group capable of reacting with a hydroxyl group is prepared to prepare a mixed solution. Coating It characterized by having a a curing step of curing Te.
- the method for producing an elastomer material of the present invention includes a chelation step, an ion immobilization step, and a curing step.
- the organometallic compound is chelated.
- the organometallic compound reacts with water to be hydrolyzed and polycondensed (sol-gel reaction).
- sol-gel reaction By chelating the organometallic compound in advance, a rapid reaction between the organometallic compound and water can be suppressed in the next step, and metal oxide particles having a small particle diameter can be produced without agglomeration.
- a reactive ionic liquid, a predetermined organic solvent, and water are added to the chelated product of the organometallic compound.
- the hydrolysis reaction of the organometallic compound proceeds to generate metal oxide particles, and the generated metal oxide particles react with the first ion component in the reactive ionic liquid.
- the first ion component is immobilized on the metal oxide particles.
- the reaction with the reactive ionic liquid proceeds simultaneously with the hydrolysis reaction of the organometallic compound. For this reason, the first ion component in the reactive ionic liquid is immobilized not only on the surface of the generated metal oxide particles but also inside.
- a sol containing ion-immobilized particles and a second ion component is obtained by the chelation step and the ion-immobilization step.
- the obtained sol and a polymer solution containing a rubber polymer are mixed, and an elastomer material is produced from the obtained mixed solution.
- the ion-fixed particles (metal oxide particles) in the sol have a hydroxyl group (—OH).
- the rubber polymer has a functional group capable of reacting with the hydroxyl group. For this reason, at the time of hardening of a liquid mixture, a hydroxyl group and a functional group react and an ion fixed particle and a rubber polymer chemically bond.
- the elastomer material of the present invention can be produced relatively easily.

- the elastomeric material of the present invention comprises an elastomer, ion-fixed particles, and a second ionic component.
- the elastomer is not particularly limited as long as it can be chemically bonded to the ion-fixed particles.
- an elastomer having a functional group capable of reacting with the hydroxyl group may be used.
- a functional group include a carboxyl group (—COOH), an amino group (—NH), and an epoxy group.
- carboxyl group-modified nitrile rubber (X-NBR), carboxyl group-modified hydrogenated nitrile rubber (XH-NBR), and the like are preferable.
- those having an acrylonitrile content (bonded AN amount) of 33% by mass or more are desirable.
- the amount of bonded AN is the mass ratio of acrylonitrile when the total mass of the rubber is 100% by mass.
- the ion-fixed particles are obtained by fixing a first ion component to metal oxide particles.
- the metal oxide particles preferably contain at least one element of titanium and zirconium from the viewpoint of high insulating properties. Examples thereof include single oxide particles such as titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) and zirconium dioxide (ZrO 2 ), and composite particles such as TiO 2 / ZrO 2 and TiO 2 / ZrO 2 / SiO 2 .
- the metal oxide particles those produced by a hydrolysis reaction (sol-gel method) of an organometallic compound are desirable. According to the sol-gel method, —OH groups tend to remain on the surface of the metal oxide particles to be generated.
- the ion-fixed particles are dispersed as uniformly as possible in the elastomer. Further, it is desirable that the particle size of the ion-fixed particles is as small as possible. From such a viewpoint, it is desirable that the median diameter of the metal oxide particles constituting the ion-fixed particles is 5 nm or more and 100 nm or less. 30 nm or less, in particular, about 8 to 20 nm is more preferable.
- the particle diameter of the metal oxide particles can be measured by observation using a transmission electron microscope (TEM). Moreover, you may measure by a small angle X-ray scattering method.
- the particle diameter of the metal oxide particles in the sol is equal to the particle diameter of the metal oxide particles in the elastomer material. Is done. Therefore, the particle diameter of the metal oxide particles in the sol may be adopted as the particle diameter of the metal oxide particles in the elastomer material.
- the particle diameter of the metal oxide particles in the sol can be measured using, for example, a laser diffraction / scattering particle diameter / particle size distribution measuring apparatus manufactured by Nikkiso Co., Ltd. Alternatively, the sol can be dried and measured by observation using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
- the content of ion-fixed particles in the elastomer material may be appropriately determined so as to satisfy the characteristics required for each application.
- the content of ion-fixed particles when used as a constituent material of a transducer, is desirably 1 part by mass or more and 10 parts by mass or less with respect to 100 parts by mass of the elastomer. This is because when the content of the ion-fixed particles is less than 1 part by mass, the effect of increasing the electrostatic attractive force is small. On the other hand, when the content of the ion-fixed particles exceeds 10 parts by mass, the effect of increasing the electrostatic attractive force is saturated and so-called leakage current increases.
- the first ion component that constitutes the ion-fixed particle is a counter ion of the second ion component.
- the ion-fixed particles can be synthesized, for example, by reacting a metal ion particle obtained by a sol-gel method with a reactive ionic liquid having a first ionic component and a second ionic component before immobilization. - the rubber polymer is cross-linked by heating, and the hydroxyl groups on the surface of the ion-immobilized particles react with the functional groups of the rubber polymer to chemically bond the ion-immobilized particles to the elastomer.
- the method for applying the mixed liquid is not particularly limited. For example, in addition to printing methods such as inkjet printing, flexographic printing, gravure printing, screen printing, pad printing, and lithography, dipping, spraying, bar coating, and the like can be given.
- the curing temperature of the coating film may be appropriately determined in consideration of the type of solvent used and the reaction rate. For example, it is desirable to set it above the boiling point of the solvent.
