La présente invention concerne un élément électroluminescent organique qui présente une efficacité lumineuse et une tension de commande améliorées. Un élément électroluminescent organique de la présente invention comprend au moins une couche conductrice transparente et une couche d'injection d'électrons sur un substrat et se caractérise en ce qu'il comprend une couche protectrice transparente à motif entre la couche conductrice transparente et la couche d'injection d'électrons, ladite couche protectrice transparente étant sensiblement transparente et ayant une résistance d'au moins 100 fois la résistance de la couche conductrice transparente.
