Definitions
- the present invention relates to a single-plate imaging device that acquires a color image and an image processing device that realizes high resolution. More specifically, the present invention relates to an imaging device in which resolution and exposure time differ for each color component, and an image processing device that generates an output image with high resolution, high frame rate, and high sensitivity from an output image of the imaging device.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide an image processing apparatus for increasing the resolution of an image acquired by the imaging apparatus.
- the imaging control unit has a function of reading out charges generated in each of the plurality of pixels to the plurality of charge coupled device arrays at the same timing.
- the transfer path includes a horizontal charge coupled device column extending in the second direction, and the horizontal charge coupled device column is connected to the plurality of output signal lines, and the plurality of output signal lines on the plurality of output signal lines.
- the charge signal corresponding to the voltage signal is transferred in the horizontal direction while being held.
- each of the plurality of pixels on the imaging surface detects the intensity of any one of cyan, magenta, yellow, and green components included in incident light.
- a color filter array in which a first color filter that transmits the first color and a second color filter that transmits the second color are arranged in a mosaic pattern is provided on the light incident side of the pixels 101 and 102.
- the color filter array typically has a Bayer type arrangement, but may have other arrangements.
- the charges generated in the pixels 101 and 102 are moved to the charge coupled device array 104 at the same timing.
- the charges of the pixels 101 and 102 move to the charge coupled device column 104 on a pixel basis and are held in the charge coupled device column 104 on a pixel basis.
- the charge movement is performed from the column 103 of one pixel at the same timing, but it is preferable that the charge movement is performed from all the pixels in the imaging surface to the corresponding charge coupled device column 104. Is called.
- the charges moved from the pixels 101 and 102 into the charge coupled device array 104 are then transferred in the first direction. However, in the present invention, there is no need to perform such transfer.
- FIG. 4 shows a column 103 of pixels in which pixels 101 of the first color and pixels 102 of the second color are alternately arranged, a charge coupled device column 104 connected to the column 103 of pixels, and a charge coupled device.
- the shape of the surface potential of the semiconductor in the column 104 is schematically shown.
- (3B) in FIG. 4 indicates that the surface potential shown in FIG. 4 is in the state of FIG. 3B. In this state, many potential wells are formed in the charge coupled device array 104. This well has a locally high surface potential and accumulates charges (electrons) at the bottom of the well. Charges accumulated in the hatched portion at the bottom of the potential well shown in FIG. 4 are schematically shown. In reality, charges are stored near the semiconductor surface.
- the shape of the potential indicates the potential at the surface rather than inside the semiconductor.
- the present invention after the charge generated in each pixel (photodiode) in the imaging surface is once moved to the charge coupled device array 104, the charge held by the charge coupled device array 104 is changed to the charge detection device 106A. , 106B and read out via an output signal line extending in the first direction. That is, the charge of the pixel at an arbitrary position in the first direction can be read out without transferring the charge in the first direction by the charge coupled device array 104.
- the present invention has the same advantages as the reading of the pixel signal by the CMOS image sensor, and can solve the problems of the conventional CCD image sensor.
- pixel addition by mixing charges from pixels of the same color that are adjacent in the second direction.
- Such pixel addition may be performed using a known binning circuit or using a horizontal charge coupled device array.
- FIG. 6 shows a configuration of the imaging apparatus according to the present embodiment.
- the charge-coupled device array 307 is configured with the same number of charge-coupled devices as the charge-coupled device array 301, reads out the charges accumulated in the B and Gr pixels, and performs vertical addition.
- the charge detection amplifier 308 converts the pixel charge stored in the charge coupled device connected to the R and Gb pixels into an electric signal in the form of a voltage.
- the output signal lines 309 and 310 transmit the output signals of the B pixel and the Gr pixel read out by the above method to a horizontal transfer unit disposed at the upper end of the image sensor.
- the transfer gates 311 and 312 supply the output signals of the R pixel and Gb pixel output from the charge detection amplifier 302 to the horizontal transfer path 315.
- the transfer gates 313 and 314 convert the output signals of the B pixel and Gr pixel output from the charge detection amplifier 308 into charges again and supply them to the horizontal transfer path 316.
- FIG. 9 is a diagram showing a list of signals supplied to the charge coupled devices in the charge coupled device arrays 301 and 307 in FIG.
- the description of the charge detection amplifiers 302 and 308 and the read signal lines 303 and 304 shown in FIG. 8 is omitted.
- both charge detection amplifiers 302 and 308 in FIG. 8 and the signal line of the drive signal shown in FIG. 9 are connected to each charge coupled device constituting the charge coupled device arrays 301 and 307.
- FIG. 16 shows an example of a waveform of a signal supplied to the read signal lines 303 and 304 in FIG.
- Rreadn is a readout signal supplied to the n-th set of R and B pixels from the upper side of the imaging surface, that is, a signal supplied to the readout signal line 304.
- Rreadn + 2, Rreadn + 4, and Rreadn + 6 are readout signals supplied to a set of n + 2th, n + 4th, and n + 6th RB pixels, respectively, and Graden + 1, Graden + 2, and Graden + 3 are n + 1, n + 2, and n + 3, respectively. This is a readout signal supplied to a set of GrGb pixels.
- Equation 4 only the calculation formula for the R pixel is described, but for the B pixel, it can be expressed in exactly the same way by replacing H R in (Equation 4) with H B.
- xmax, ymax, and tmax represent the maximum values of the x-direction pixel number, the y-direction pixel number, and the frame number, respectively.
- u (x, y, t) and v (x, y, t) in (Equation 7) are x at the pixel position of the position (x, y) and the frame number t obtained by the motion detection unit 1201. The magnitude of movement in the direction and y direction.
- the up-converter 1202 obtains f that minimizes (Equation 3) based on (Equation 8) below.
- the addition of R and B pixels is performed on vertical and horizontal transfer paths composed of charge-coupled elements, and pixels of different colors are shared by one transfer path.
- the pixel addition operation cannot be performed. Therefore, it is necessary to shift the readout timing for each color component. For example, if readout and addition of R and B pixels are performed after readout of Gr and Gb pixels, as shown in FIG. There is a shift in the position where the subject appears on the screen in the image and the G image.
- the pixel array of the image sensor according to the present invention is not limited to the array shown in FIG.
- the R pixel, the Gr pixel, the Gb pixel, and the B pixel illustrated in FIG. 7 it is also possible to perform imaging for cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), and G color components.
- an M pixel may be arranged at the R pixel position in FIG. 7, a C pixel at the B pixel position, a G pixel at the Gr pixel position, and a Y pixel at the Gb pixel position.
- FIG. 21 is a diagram showing a list of signals supplied to the charge coupled devices in the charge coupled device arrays 1401 and 1402 in the present embodiment. Also in this figure, like the one shown in FIG. 9 in the first embodiment, the description of the charge detection amplifiers 302 and 308 and the readout signal lines 303 and 304 shown in FIG. 8 is omitted. According to FIG. 21, in the present embodiment, six types of control signals V1, V2, V3, VR1, VR2, and VG are used for driving the charge coupled devices of the charge coupled device array 1401 as in the first embodiment. The combination of charge-coupled devices that supply these signals is different.
- readout signal lines 1801 and 1802 transmit readout signals that determine the timing of outputting the signals obtained by converting the charges accumulated in the RB pixels and GrGb pixels into voltage values by the charge detection amplifiers to the output signal lines 1803 to 1810.
- Output signal lines 1803 and 1807 transmit output signals of R pixels
- output signal lines 1804 and 1808 transmit Gb pixels
- output signal lines 1805 and 1809 transmit B pixels
- output signal lines 1806 and 1810 transmit Gr pixels.
- the charge coupled device arrays 1811 and 1813 are configured by charge coupled devices, hold charges accumulated in the R pixel and Gb pixel, and add R pixel signals.
- each pixel signal is read out by the following method.
- the reading operation of the G pixels can be realized by omitting the G pixel reading portion from the frame reading operation.
- interpolation methods in the R interpolation unit 2204 and the B interpolation unit 2206 may be the same as or different from the G interpolation unit 2203, respectively.
- the interpolation methods used in the interpolation units 2203, 2204, and 2206 may all be the same or different from each other.
- the G interpolation unit 2203 interpolates the G image whose resolution has been reduced by the sub-sampling unit 2202.
- the high frequency component G High of G is obtained by subtracting the G image interpolated by the G interpolation unit 2203 from the output of the G high resolution unit 2201.
- the correlation coefficient in the low spatial frequency component of R and G calculated in this way is multiplied by the high spatial frequency component GHigh of G, and then added to the output of the R interpolation unit 2204, whereby the high resolution of the R component is obtained. Is performed.
- the G pixel has a longer exposure time, and the R and B pixels are added on the imaging surface to secure a larger amount of light in the input image.
- the G pixel is imaged at a low frame rate and long exposure, but the R and B pixels are not added, and are read from all the pixels to obtain a high resolution.
- an example of an image sensor driving method and an image processing method when addition of R and B pixels is omitted is shown.
- the estimated values R ′ and B ′ of the R and B pixels at the G pixel position (2, 3) of the Bayer array are calculated by (Equation 18) and (Equation 19), respectively.
- Bayer resolution enhancement method used in this embodiment is not limited to the ACPI method shown here, and RGB values of all pixel positions are calculated by a method that considers hue or an interpolation method that uses median. It doesn't matter.
Abstract
