Abstract
Description
本願は、2010年12月8日に、日本に出願された日本国特願2010-273624号に基づき優先権を主張し、その内容をここに援用する。
(1)本発明に係る一態様は、エンジンから延出するエキゾーストパイプと;前記エキゾーストパイプの先端に接続される排気マフラーと;を備え、前記エキゾーストパイプが、その延出方向を変化させる湾曲部を有し、前記エキゾーストパイプの前記湾曲部を含む部位の外周を囲うように管状の排気チャンバーが設けられ、前記排気チャンバーが、前記エキゾーストパイプの延出方向で複数に分割される分割体を含む。
なお、前記鞍乗り型車両には、車体を跨いで乗車する車両全般が含まれ、自動二輪車(原動機付自転車及びスクータ型車両を含む)のみならず、三輪(前一輪かつ後二輪の他に、前二輪かつ後一輪の車両も含む)又は四輪の車両も含まれる。
(2)上記(1)の態様において、前記エキゾーストパイプが、その内部空間と前記排気チャンバー及びエキゾーストパイプ間の外周空間とを連通する連通孔を複数備えてもよい。
(3)上記(1)又は(2)の態様において、前記排気チャンバーの前記各分割体が、それぞれ一体の鋼管からなり、これらが前記エキゾーストパイプを挿通した状態で互いに溶接結合されて前記排気チャンバーを形成してもよい。
(4)上記(1)から(3)の何れかの態様において、前記エキゾーストパイプの前記排気チャンバーよりも前記エンジン側の部位の外周を囲って排気の熱を保持する保温部材をさらに備えてもよい。
(5)上記(4)の態様において、前記保温部材が、前記エキゾーストパイプの延出方向に沿って分割される半割り構造でもよい。
(6)上記(1)から(5)の何れかの態様において、前記排気チャンバーが、前記エンジンのシリンダの側方かつクランクケースの上方に配置されてもよい。
(7)上記(1)から(6)の何れかの態様において、前記エキゾーストパイプをその延出方向で分割する分割部が、前記排気チャンバーで囲われる部位に設けられてもよい。
上記(2)の態様によれば、排気チャンバーを排気バイパスとしても利用でき、中低速のエンジン性能を向上できる。また、エキゾーストパイプの外周に排気チャンバーを設けたため、排気ガスの温度が下がり難く、キャタライザーの活性化を促進できる。
上記(3)の態様によれば、エキゾーストパイプとその湾曲部を含む部位の外周を囲う管状の排気チャンバーとを一体結合した小組体の生産性を向上できる。
上記(4)の態様によれば、グラスウール等の保温材を用いずに、排気装置に設けたキャタライザーの活性化を促進でき、コスト低減を図ることができる。
上記(5)の態様によれば、排気チャンバーをエキゾーストパイプに組み付けた後でも保温部材を容易に組み付けることができる。
上記(6)の態様によれば、エンジンの周囲に排気チャンバーをコンパクトに配置できる。
上記(7)の態様によれば、排気装置の外観を良好にしつつエキゾーストパイプの分割によりその生産性を向上できる。
図4,5を併せて参照し、エキゾーストパイプ41は、円形鋼管(ステンレス管含む)を所定形状に屈曲成形してなる。なお、図中符号Eはエキゾーストパイプ41の延出方向(長手方向)に沿う中心軸線を示す。
排気マフラー48は多段膨張式とされ、その前端から導入した排気ガスの排圧を減衰しつつ後端から排出する。排気マフラー48の前端部からは、側面視で斜め下前方に向けて排気導入管49が延出する。排気導入管49は、側面視で右ガセットプレート16の直前となる位置にて前方に向けて湾曲し、右ガセットプレート16の車幅方向内側を前後方向に沿って前方に向けて直線状に延びる。この排気導入管49の前端部内にエキゾーストパイプ41の後端部が挿入され、この状態でこれらがクランプ部材49aにより一体的かつ着脱可能に締結、接続される。
排気ガスは、排気チャンバー51上流側の第一連通孔57から排気チャンバー51内に流入し、排気チャンバー51下流側の第二連通孔58からエキゾーストパイプ41に戻る。つまり、排気チャンバー51はエキゾーストパイプ41のバイパスとして働く。
図6を併せて参照し、第一管部52は、その前後端が第一直線部43の中心軸線43aとの直交平面に沿うようにカットされる。第一管部52の前端部は前側ほど縮径する前テーパ部52aとされ、この前テーパ部52aの先端縁がエキゾーストパイプ41の外周に接し、これらが全周に渡って一体に溶接結合される。
ここで、保温部材61を排気チャンバー51の一部とした構成(保温部材61が形成する外周空間64と排気チャンバー51が形成する外周空間59とを連通させた構成)としてもよい。
まず、所定の円形鋼管に前記中心軸線Eに沿うように曲げ加工を施してエキゾーストパイプ41を形成する。なお、エキゾーストパイプ41が分割式の場合には、各分割体をそれぞれ曲げ加工した後、これらを一体に溶接結合する。
以上により、エキゾーストパイプ41の外周に排気チャンバー51等を備えたエキゾーストパイプアッシ40の製造、組み立てが完了する。
この構成によれば、エキゾーストパイプ41の湾曲部44を含む部位の外周に管状の排気チャンバー51を設ける際にも、これをエキゾーストパイプ41の延出方向(排気チャンバー51の長手方向)で分割することで、エキゾーストパイプ41の湾曲部44を含む部位の外周に管状の排気チャンバー51を容易に設けることができ、もって排気装置のレイアウト自由度を向上できる。
そして、上記実施形態における構成は本発明の一例であり、当該発明の要旨を逸脱しない範囲で種々の変更が可能であることはいうまでもない。

- エンジンから延出するエキゾーストパイプと;
前記エキゾーストパイプの先端に接続される排気マフラーと;
を備え、
前記エキゾーストパイプが、その延出方向を変化させる湾曲部を有し、
前記エキゾーストパイプの前記湾曲部を含む部位の外周を囲うように管状の排気チャンバーが設けられ、
前記排気チャンバーが、前記エキゾーストパイプの延出方向で複数に分割される分割体を含むことを特徴とする鞍乗り型車両の排気装置。 - 前記エキゾーストパイプが、その内部空間と前記排気チャンバー及びエキゾーストパイプ間の外周空間とを連通する連通孔を複数備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の鞍乗り型車両の排気装置。
- 前記排気チャンバーの前記各分割体が、それぞれ一体の鋼管からなり、これらが前記エキゾーストパイプを挿通した状態で互いに溶接結合されて前記排気チャンバーを形成することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の鞍乗り型車両の排気装置。
- 前記エキゾーストパイプの前記排気チャンバーよりも前記エンジン側の部位の外周を囲って排気の熱を保持する保温部材をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の鞍乗り型車両の排気装置。
- 前記保温部材が、前記エキゾーストパイプの延出方向に沿って分割される半割り構造であることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の鞍乗り型車両の排気装置。
- 前記排気チャンバーが、前記エンジンのシリンダの側方かつクランクケースの上方に配置されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の鞍乗り型車両の排気装置。
- 前記エキゾーストパイプをその延出方向で分割する分割部が、前記排気チャンバーで囲われる部位に設けられることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の鞍乗り型車両の排気装置。
