[第1の実施形態]
[構成の説明]
図3、図4、図5は信号領域を各々32分割(図3)、256分割(図4)、512分割(図5)したものである。分割された1つの領域(図3、図4、図5中の□)には、2g個の信号点が配置されているとする(gは0以上の偶数、すなわち、g=0,2,4,・・・)。図3には例として、□内に1(=20)個(図中、領域2-1内に1個)、あるいは□内に4(=22)個(図中、領域2-2内に4個)の信号点が配置されている例を示している。1個の時は32QAM、4個の時は128QAMの十字形信号点配置を32分割した例となっている。
[構成及び動作の説明]
図3,図4,図5のように領域分割され、各□内に信号点が配置された2mQAM方式において、各信号点は2次元平面に配置されているため、2つの数値によって、その配置を表すことができる。信号領域の左下を原点として、水平方向をI軸、垂直方向をQ軸と呼ぶことにすると、各信号点は、I軸、Q軸の座標値によって表すことができる。従って、各信号点へのビットマッピング装置は伝送するmビットを入力とし、信号点のI軸、Q軸の各座標値を出力する装置となる。
図37に示すように、伝送する5ビットのデータと32個の信号点の対応が図18(B)及び図35の変調装置で定められたデータ伝送方式によって定められ、受信信号点から受信信号点に最も近い送信信号点に対応する5ビットのデータを算出する算出部131と、受信信号点を含む領域に対応して図18(B)及び図35の変調装置の2個の2ビットの領域マッピングテーブル112、114と同一の領域マッピングテーブルを参照して2個の2ビットデータを得るとともに、1ビットの領域マッピングテーブル113と同一の領域マッピングテーブルを参照して1ビットを得る取得部132とを備えている。取得部132は領域マッピングテーブル112、113、114と同一の領域マッピングテーブルを備えている。
図37に示すように、この復調装置は、伝送する8ビットのデータと256個の信号点との対応が図34を用いて説明した変調装置のマッピング方法によって定められ、受信信号点から該受信信号点に最も近い送信信号点に対応する8ビットのデータを算出する算出部と、受信信号点を含む領域に対応して図34を用いて説明した変調装置の4個の領域マッピングテーブル102~105と同一の4個の領域マッピングテーブルを参照して4個の2ビットデータを得る取得部132とを備えている。4個の領域マッピングテーブルは取得部132に含まれている。
伝送する該9ビットのデータと512個の信号点との対応が図36を用いて説明した変調装置のデータ伝送方式によって定められ、受信信号点から受信信号点に最も近い送信信号点に対応する9ビットのデータを算出する算出部131と、受信信号点を含む領域に対応して図36を用いて説明した変調装置の4個の2ビットの領域マッピングテーブル122、124、125、126と同一の領域マッピングテーブルを参照して4個の2ビットデータを得るとともに、1ビットの領域マッピングテーブル123と同一の領域マッピングテーブルを参照して1ビットを得る取得部132とを備える。5個の領域マッピングテーブルは取得部132に含まれている。
[第2の実施形態]
図4において、信号点空間を256分割した例を示し、更に、分割された各領域内に4つの信号点を配置した1024個の信号点の円状配置例を説明した。この1024個の信号点の幾つかの配置を変更することでさらに平均信号電力の低い信号点配置を得ることが可能であるが、そのような配置においても、第1の実施形態において説明した方法と同様の方法でマッピングが可能であることを示す。

- 矩形に配置された22n個の信号点の一部を円状に再配置し(nは正の整数)、円状配置された22n個の信号点を用いて、2nビットのデータを伝送する22nQAMの変調方式のデータ伝送方法であって、
矩形配置に一致する信号点に、下位2tビットと上位2(n-t)を各々独立にグレイ符号を適用した2nビットのパターンを対応させる第1手順と(tはnより小さい正の整数)、
円状に再配置された各信号点に、該矩形配置に一致する信号点に割当てられたパターンを除いた2nビットのパターンの中で、隣接する信号点間における下位2tビットの平均ハミング距離が最小、かつ下位2tビットが一致する信号点間のユークリッド距離が最大となるように2nビットのパターンを対応させる第2手順とを備え、
伝送する2nビットに対して、前記第2手順によって定まる信号点を送信するデータ伝送方法。 - 矩形に配置された22n個の信号点の一部を円状に再配置し(nは正の整数)、円状配置された22n個の信号点を用いて、2nビットのデータを伝送する22nQAMの変調方式のデータ伝送方法であって、
