Abstract
Description
次に、本発明の作用について説明する。
図1及び図2は、本発明の実施形態1を示している。
したがって、この実施形態1によると、タッチ位置検出用電極である第1電極11及び第2電極12を回転対称性を有する曲面状の基板13表面に沿って形成すると共に、第1電極11が、中央部16と、この中央部16から放射状に延びる複数の先端部17とを有する一方、第2電極12を隣り合う先端部17同士の間に配置するようにしたので、曲面状のタッチパネル装置10に操作性良くタッチ入力できるだけでなく、タッチ入力動作の種類を多くして、使用者の利便性を大幅に高めることができる。しかも、基板13の回転対称中心からのタッチ位置の距離及び方位角を検出できるので、他種類のタッチ入力から直接に所定の信号を生成できる結果、信号生成に要する演算負荷を低減することができる。

上記各実施形態では、表示パネルが液晶表示パネル2である例について説明したが、本発明はこれに限定されず、例えば有機EL表示パネル等の他の表示パネルを備える表示装置について同様に適用することができる。

Claims (19)
- 接触体にタッチされた位置を検出する領域であるタッチ領域と、
上記タッチ領域に設けられた複数のタッチ位置検出用電極と、
上記タッチ位置検出用電極と上記接触体との間に形成される静電容量に基づいてタッチ位置を検出する検出回路とを備えたタッチパネル装置であって、
上記複数のタッチ位置検出用電極は、曲面状の基板表面に沿って形成された第1電極及び第2電極を備え、
上記第1電極は、上記タッチ領域の中央に配置された中央部と、該中央部から上記タッチ領域の周縁へ至るように放射状に延びる複数の先端部とを有し、
上記第2電極は、上記タッチ領域の周縁を含む領域に配置されると共に、隣り合う上記先端部同士の間にそれぞれ配置されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項1に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記基板表面の曲面は、非可展面である
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項1又は2に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記基板表面の曲面は、回転対称性を有する曲面である
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項3に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記検出回路は、上記第1電極の中央部においてタッチされているか否かを検出すると共に、上記回転対称中心からのタッチ位置の距離及び方位角の少なくとも一方を検出するように構成されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項3又は4に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記検出回路は、一方側の上記先端部から上記中央部を通って他方側の上記先端部へ移動するタッチ位置を検出すると共に、上記タッチ領域の周縁に沿って移動するタッチ位置を検出するように構成されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項5に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記第1電極は、平面視で複数の上記先端部において上記検出回路に接続され、
上記検出回路は、タッチ位置が上記第1電極の先端同士の間を上記複数の先端部及び上記中央部に沿って移動した際に、上記複数の先端部から検出される静電容量値の変化に基づいて、上下スクロール操作又は左右スクロール操作を検出するように構成されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項1~6の何れか1つに記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記第2電極は、楔状に形成されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項1~7の何れか1つに記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記検出回路は、上記第1電極及び第2電極に生じる上記静電容量を検出する静電容量検出回路、又は上記第1電極及び第2電極に生じるインピーダンスを検出するインピーダンス検出回路を備えている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項8に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記第2電極は、それぞれ独立に、又はグループ化されて、上記静電容量検出回路又はインピーダンス検出回路に接続されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項8に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記第1電極の各先端部は、上記静電容量検出回路又はインピーダンス検出回路に接続され、
上記検出回路は、上記静電容量検出回路又はインピーダンス検出回路によって検出される上記各先端部からの信号同士を比較することにより、上記中央部におけるタッチ位置、又は上記タッチ領域における外周方向のスクロール動作を検出するように構成されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項9に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記検出回路は、上記静電容量検出回路又はインピーダンス検出回路によって検出される各上記第2電極からの信号同士を比較することにより、上記タッチ領域の外周部のタッチ位置、又は外周方向のスクロール動作を検出するように構成されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項8に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記検出回路は、上記静電容量検出回路又はインピーダンス検出回路によって検出される上記先端部からの信号と、該静電容量検出回路又はインピーダンス検出回路によって検出される上記第2電極からの信号とを比較することにより、上記タッチ領域の中心から半径方向の位置、又は上記タッチ領域における外周方向のスクロール動作を検出するように構成されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 接触体にタッチされた位置を検出する領域であるタッチ領域と、
上記タッチ領域に設けられた複数のタッチ位置検出用電極と、
上記タッチ位置検出用電極と上記接触体との間に形成される静電容量に基づいてタッチ位置を検出する検出回路とを備えたタッチパネル装置であって、
上記複数のタッチ位置検出用電極は、曲面状の基板表面に沿って形成された複数の第1電極及び複数の第2電極を備え、
上記複数の第1電極は、上記基板表面の中央に配置され、互いに集合することによって全体として円状に構成される一方、
上記複数の第2電極は、上記第1電極の外側に配置され、互いに集合することによって全体としてリング状に構成され、
上記検出回路は、上記回転対称中心からのタッチ位置の距離及び方位角の少なくとも一方を検出すると共に、平面視で上記タッチ領域の直径方向に上記第1電極及び第2電極上を移動するタッチ位置を検出するように構成されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項13に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記基板表面の曲面は、非可展面である
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項13又は14に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記基板表面の曲面は、回転対称性を有する曲面である
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項15に記載されたタッチパネル装置において、
上記複数のタッチ位置検出用電極は、上記第2電極の外側に配置され、互いに集合することによって全体としてリング状に構成された複数の第3電極を有し、
上記検出回路は、平面視で上記タッチ領域の直径方向に上記第1電極、第2電極及び第3電極上を移動するタッチ位置を検出するように構成されている
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置。 - 請求項1~16の何れか1つに記載されたタッチパネル装置と、該タッチパネル装置に対向して配置された表示パネルとを備えている
ことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項17に記載された表示装置において、
上記表示パネルは、液晶表示パネルである
ことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 接触体にタッチされた位置を検出する領域であるタッチ領域と、上記タッチ領域に設けられた複数のタッチ位置検出用電極と、上記タッチ位置検出用電極と上記接触体との間に形成される静電容量に基づいてタッチ位置を検出する検出回路とを備えたタッチパネル装置を製造する方法であって、
曲面状の表面を有する基板を形成する工程と、
上記基板の曲面状表面に、該表面に沿って透明導電膜を所定形状に形成することにより、第1電極及び第2電極を形成する工程とを有し、
上記第1電極及び第2電極を形成する工程では、上記第1電極を、上記タッチ領域の中央に配置された中央部と、該中央部から上記タッチ領域の周縁へ至るように放射状に延びる複数の先端部とを有するように形成する一方、上記第2電極を、上記タッチ領域の周縁を含む領域に配置されると共に隣り合う上記先端部同士の間にそれぞれ配置されるように形成する
ことを特徴とするタッチパネル装置の製造方法。
