Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé de production du 1,2-propanediol par l'hydrogénolyse du glycérol en présence d'un catalyseur métallique supporté et de l'hydrogène. Le glycérol ayant une teneur en eau inférieure à 3 % en poids et l'hydrogène sont introduits à l'intérieur d'un réacteur et mis en réaction en présence d'un catalyseur à base de cuivre à une pression de 20 à 150 bar et à une température de 150 à 4 000°C. L'eau formée pendant la réaction est éliminée du réacteur pour maintenir la teneur en eau dans la solution réactionnelle obtenue inférieure à 5 % en poids.
