- the video signal output from the video processing unit 105 is input to the liquid crystal drive unit 106, and is converted into a signal (for example, an RGB video signal) suitable for driving the liquid crystal panels 117, 118, and 119.
- the liquid crystal panels 117, 118 and 119 showing three primary colors of red (Red), green (Green) and blue (Blue), respectively, are configured by arranging liquid crystal pixels in a matrix, and form an image based on input signals Do.
- the liquid crystal panels 117, 118, and 119 are arranged to transmit light emitted from a lamp (not shown), and modulate the light from the lamp with an image formed based on the input signal.
- the USB host controller 110 is a circuit that performs USB communication with an external device using the VBUS line 111, the D + line 112, the D ⁇ line 113, and the GND line 114 defined by the USB standard.
- data to be transmitted and received is input and output by the CPU 107.
- D + line 112 and D- line 113 are USB communication lines for performing differential communication, and are pulled down by resistors 115 and 116, respectively.
- the VBUS line 111, the D + line 112, the D- line 113, and the GND line 114 can be connected to an external device by the USB connector 102 as a connection unit.
- the USB connector 102 is a USB interface connectable to a USB device as an external device. Therefore, the display device 1 and the USB device can communicate with each other via the USB connector 102.
- connection request screen is as described with reference to FIG. 13A, and prompts the user to connect the USB device.
- the connection request screen is a kind of pattern image, and is displayed based on pattern image data stored in advance in the ROM 108.
- the CPU 107 determines whether USB communication with the USB device has been disconnected. In step S816, the CPU 107 determines whether end of image display has been instructed based on an operation of the operation panel 101 by the user. Specifically, the determination is performed by the CPU 107 acquiring pressing information of the determination button on the operation panel 101. If the instruction to end the image display has not been issued, the process executed by the CPU 107 returns to S809. If an image display end instruction has been issued, the process executed by the CPU 107 returns to S807, the file selection screen is displayed again, and the user is asked to select an image file.
- step S821 the CPU 107 determines whether or not the USB communication with the USB device has been disconnected.
- step S ⁇ b> 822 the CPU 107 determines whether a print job start communication has been performed from the USB device via the USB host controller 110. This communication corresponds to S504 described with reference to FIG. If it is determined in S822 that there is no start instruction, the process executed by the CPU 107 returns to S821.
- step S823 as in step S818, the CPU 107 determines whether the USB communication with the USB device has been disconnected.
- step S824 the CPU 107 acquires information of an output target image file included in the print job from the USB device via the USB host controller 110. This S824 corresponds to S505 described with reference to FIG.
- step S825 as in step S818, the CPU 107 determines whether the USB communication with the USB device has been disconnected.
- step S826 the CPU 107 acquires an image of an image file included in the print job from the USB device via the USB host controller 110. This S826 corresponds to S506 described with reference to FIG.
- step S827 as in step S818, the CPU 107 determines whether the USB communication with the USB device has been disconnected.
- the CPU 107 scales the acquired image to the resolution of the liquid crystal panels 117, 118, and 119, and then controls the video processing unit 105 to cause the screen 2 to project and display the image.
- the image projected and displayed on the screen 2 is an image based on image data captured by a digital camera, and is, for example, an image of a person as shown in FIG. 5B.
- step S829 the CPU 107 notifies, via the USB host controller 110, the USB device that the communication state by the PictBridge connection has become idle.
- the notification in S829 corresponds to S508 described with reference to FIG.
- step S830 the CPU 107 determines whether an image based on the image acquired from the USB device is being projected and displayed (that is, has passed through step S828). If the image is in projection display, the processing of the CPU 107 returns to S803, and if it is not in projection display, the processing of the CPU 107 returns to S802.
- the CPU 107 inquires of the USB host controller 110 and determines whether or not the USB communication with the USB device has been disconnected. The determination in S 832 continues until the USB communication is disconnected, and when the USB communication is disconnected, the processing of the CPU 107 returns to S 802.
- the display device 1 is connected to a USB device such as a flash memory device, and when projection display of image data stored in the device is performed, if disconnection of USB communication occurs, The image in projection display is overwritten on the connection request screen (S802).
- a USB device such as a flash memory device
- disconnection of USB communication is mainly due to removal by the user. Furthermore, such removal by the user is intended by the user to end projection display. Therefore, when the USB communication is disconnected, it is preferable that the display device 1 overwrites the connection request screen without continuously displaying the image in the projection display.
- the display device 1 when a disconnection of the USB communication occurs during projection display of image data stored in the device while connected to a USB device such as a digital camera, projection display is being performed.
- the image is continuously displayed on the connection request screen without being overwritten (transition from S 830 to S 803).
- the type of connection device is a digital camera, both removal by the user and disconnection by control on the USB device side can be considered. Therefore, since it is not only removal by the user who intended the termination of the projection display, it is preferable that the display device 1 continuously displays the image in the projection display when the USB communication is disconnected.
- the processing of the display device 1 in the case where the disconnection of the communication occurs while connecting to the PictBridge compatible device and projecting and displaying the image stored in the device is described above.
- the following points are different from the embodiment.
- the display device 1 when the communication is disconnected, if the PictBridge connection is not in the idle state and in communication, the image in projection display is overwritten on the connection request screen. Also, if the PictBridge connection is idle and not in communication, the image being projected is continuously displayed.
- the display device 1 When the PictBridge connection is in non-idle state and communication is in progress, it is highly likely that the disconnection of USB communication at that time is not disconnection due to control of the USB device, but disconnection such as removal of USB device by the user . Therefore, when disconnection of communication occurs during USB communication, the display device 1 preferably overwrites the connection request screen without continuously displaying the image being displayed. Further, when disconnection of communication occurs while the USB communication is in an idle state, both removal of the USB device by the user and disconnection by control on the USB device side can be considered. Therefore, it is preferable that the display device 1 continuously display the image during projection display when the USB communication is idle and the communication is disconnected since the removal is not only removal by the user who intended the end of the projection display. It is.
- the second modification is a configuration in which the peripheral configuration of the CPU 107 and the USB connector 102 of the display device 1 illustrated in FIG. 2 is modified as shown in FIG. 7. Further, in the second modification, the process executed by the CPU 107 of the display device 1 illustrated in FIGS. 4B1 to C2 is modified as in the flowchart illustrated in FIGS. 8A to C2. About the same composition, the same numerals are attached and explanation is omitted.
- the display device 1 is configured to include an insertion detection unit 121 that detects insertion of a USB plug in the USB connector 102.
- the USB plug is inserted in the conductive terminal 1212 having the protrusion 1211 disposed at the position physically interfering with the USB plug in the USB connector 102, and the conductive terminal 1213 grounded. It is arranged to touch when there is no.
- the conductive terminal 1212 is pulled up by the resistor 122 and connected to the input port of the CPU 107.
- the USB plug when the USB plug is inserted into the USB connector 102, the USB plug pushes up the conductive terminal 1212 to open the conductive terminal 1212 and the conductive terminal 1213. Therefore, the CPU 107 can recognize the insertion and removal of the USB plug to the USB connector 102.
- FIGS. 8B1 to C2 As shown in FIGS. 8B1 to C2, in the modification 2, S806, S808, S813, S813, S815, S815, S818, S821, S823, S825, and S827 in FIGS. 4B1 to C2 are modified and FIG. 8A having S1530 and 1533 is added. It is a thing.
- step S1506 the CPU 107 inquires the USB host controller 110, and determines whether or not USB communication with the USB device has been disconnected in the previous process (in this case, step S805). If it is determined in S1506 that the USB communication has been disconnected, the process of the CPU 107 proceeds to S1530.
- the processing contents of S1508, S1513, S1515, S1518, S1521, S1523, S1525, and S1527 are the same as those of S1506.
- the CPU 107 determines whether an image based on image data acquired from the USB device is being projected and displayed (that is, has passed S814 or S828). If the image is being displayed by projection, the processing of the CPU 107 proceeds to S1533. If the image is not being displayed by projection, the processing of the CPU 107 returns to S802.
- the CPU 107 determines whether the USB plug has been physically removed from the USB connector 102 in the insertion detection unit 121. If it is determined in S1533 that the physical removal has been performed, the processing of the CPU 107 returns to S802. If it is determined that the physical removal is not performed, the processing of the CPU 107 returns to S803.
- the USB plug when the display device 1 is performing projection display of the image data stored in the connected USB device, the USB plug is physically removed and disconnection of the USB communication occurs. When it occurs, the image in projection display is overwritten on the connection request screen. When disconnection of the USB communication occurs without physically removing the USB plug, the display device 1 does not overwrite the image in the projection display on the connection request screen. Thereby, the display device 1 continues the display of the image in the case where the image display is ended in the case where the user intends to browse the image or in the case where the user intends to end the browsing of the image. It is possible to reduce the occurrence of situations such as
- Modification 3 changes S1533 to S1633 for the sequence of CPU 107 illustrated in FIG. 8A (FIG. 9A), and adds S1634 to S1636 for the sequence of CPU 107 illustrated in FIG. 4A. (FIG. 9B).
- the CPU 107 determines whether the USB plug has been physically removed from the USB connector 102 in the insertion detection unit 121. If it is determined in S1633 that the physical removal has been performed, the processing of the CPU 107 returns to S802. If it is determined that the physical removal has not been performed, the process of the CPU 107 proceeds to step S1634.
- the CPU 107 sets and starts a timer that counts down in a predetermined period (second period) predetermined by a ROM or the like. In S1635, if the timer started in S1634 has timed out or there is an instruction from the user on the operation panel 101, the CPU 107 returns the process to S802.
- the CPU 107 inquires of the USB host controller 110, and determines whether a USB device is connected and USB communication is established. If it is determined in S1636 that the USB communication has been established, the processing of the CPU 107 proceeds to S804. If it is determined that the USB communication is not established, the processing of the CPU 107 returns to S1635. Therefore, in S1634 to S1636, the process is on standby until an instruction from the user is given or until the second period set by the timer elapses until USB communication is established.
- the display device 1 when the display device 1 is performing projection display of image data stored in the connected USB device, the USB plug is physically removed and disconnection of the USB communication occurs. When it occurs, the image in projection display is overwritten on the connection request screen. On the other hand, when it is determined that the USB plug is not physically removed, the image in the projection display is not overwritten on the connection request screen until the second period elapses or the user instructs. Thereby, the display device 1 continues the display of the image in the case where the image display is ended in the case where the user intends to browse the image or in the case where the user intends to end the browsing of the image. It is possible to reduce the occurrence of situations such as

If it is determined that the physical removal has not been performed, the process of the CPU 107 proceeds to step S1634.
- the CPU 107 sets and starts a timer that counts down in a predetermined period (first period) shorter than the second period set in S1634, which is a period set in advance by the ROM or the like.
- the USB plug when the display device 1 is performing projection display of image data stored in the connected USB device, the USB plug is physically removed and disconnection of the USB communication occurs. When it occurs, the image in projection display is overwritten on the connection request screen. Overwriting on the connection request screen is performed when a first period set shorter than the second period elapses or an instruction from the user is met. On the other hand, when it is determined that the USB plug is not physically removed, a second period set longer than the first period elapses, or the image in projection display is a connection request screen until the user instructs.
