Abstract

 バルブオーバーラップ期間を変更可能とする可変動弁機構と、可変ノズル型のターボ過給機とを備える内燃機関において、排気圧力脈動を強める要求が出された場合に、体積効率の悪化を抑制しつつ、排気圧力脈動を早期に生成することのできる内燃機関の制御装置を提供する。  時刻t0において排気圧力脈動を高める要求(加速要求)が検知された場合には、可変ノズル22cの開度を全閉に制御するとともに、バルブオーバーラップ期間がゼロとなるように制御する。その後、排気圧力脈動が高められたと判断された時点t1において、可変ノズル22cの開度をターボ効率の良い開度にまで開く。そして、この可変ノズル22cの開度制御が行われた後に、ターボ効率が向上してきた段階(時点t2)で、排気圧力脈動が谷となるタイミングと重なるようにバルブオーバーラップ期間を設定する。
