Abstract

プラズマを用いて、安全、かつ、効率よく、省資源化を達成することができる内燃機関を提供する。 燃焼室22を開閉する吸気バルブ4を有する内燃機関であって、吸気バルブ4を駆動するバルブ駆動機構8と、燃焼行程において燃焼に用いられるガスの存在領域内に配置されたアンテナ7とマイクロ波発生装置11とからなるプラズマ発生装置とを備え、アンテナ7とマイクロ波発生装置11とからなるプラズマ発生装置は、バルブ駆動機構8によるバルブ駆動に応じて、吸気バルブ4の開閉状態と一意に対応するタイミングでプラズマを発生させる。
