Abstract

 電極母材もしくはチップ基材と貴金属チップとの、または、主体金具と外側電極チップとの耐剥離性を向上できるスパークプラグの製造方法を提供する。  スパークプラグ100の製造方法は、電極母材121と、これにレーザ溶接されてなる貴金属チップ151と、または、電極母材131と、これに接合してなるチップ基材171と、チップ基材にレーザ溶接されてなる貴金属チップ161と、を有するスパークプラグ100の製造方法であって、レーザビームPL1を上記レーザ溶接を行う溶接予定部128,158へ導く転送光学系LMへの入射時点でのBPP値が、25mm・mrad(半径・半角)以下のレーザビームを用いて、電極母材と、または、チップ基材と、貴金属チップとのレーザ溶接を行うレーザ溶接工程を備える。
