Abstract

　電極母材もしくはチップ基材と貴金属チップとの、または、主体金具と外側電極チップとの耐剥離性を向上できるスパークプラグの製造方法を提供する。 　スパークプラグ１００の製造方法は、電極母材１２１と、これにレーザ溶接されてなる貴金属チップ１５１と、または、電極母材１３１と、これに接合してなるチップ基材１７１と、チップ基材にレーザ溶接されてなる貴金属チップ１６１と、を有するスパークプラグ１００の製造方法であって、レーザビームＰＬ１を上記レーザ溶接を行う溶接予定部１２８，１５８へ導く転送光学系ＬＭへの入射時点でのＢＰＰ値が、２５ｍｍ・ｍｒａｄ（半径・半角）以下のレーザビームを用いて、電極母材と、または、チップ基材と、貴金属チップとのレーザ溶接を行うレーザ溶接工程を備える。
