Abstract

 基体10、磁気記録層22、媒体保護層26を備える、本発明の垂直磁気記録ディスク100において、磁気記録層22は、粒界部が形成されたグラニュラー構造の強磁性層であり、媒体保護層26は、含有する窒素(N)と炭素(C)の原子量比(N/C)が0.050~0.150であり、かつ、波長514.5nmのアルゴンイオンレーザ光により媒体保護層26を励起して得られるラマンスペクトルから蛍光を除いたスペクトルの1350cm-1付近に現れるDピークDhと1520cm-1付近に現れるGピークGhとをガウス関数により波形分離したときのピーク比Dh/Ghが0.70~0.95であることを特徴としている(図10)。
